Apple's IM 08 tutorials

Even though I am not going to buy IM 08, I would like to view the demo's from Apple. I have QT 7.2 pro that plays my QT videos OK, all I get is audio when I play the IM 08 demo. I have rebooted, repaired permissions. Don't know what else to do.
I also posted this message in the QT forum.
David

Worked fine for me ...and from what I see in the tutorials I am going to LOVE this app. I see several iMovie 08 bashing threads below ..but this looks like a dream come true for me!

  • I'm loathed to ask the same question again about the ITunes library not syncing with my iPod but having just done a complete restore, ensuring the tracks are in AAC format.. There are still problems.. Apple are there with the tutorials..but no solvings!!!

I'm using iPod 4th Gen iOS 6.1.3 and an iMac with 11.3 .. All latest versions. I have 23.4gb music according to the file but when I attached the iPod the bar at the foot of the page says 18.3gb. Some tracks are missing. Most if not all have been ripped from cd's into iTunes which is creating AAC format for each track. Other tracks play fine, some show the song but not the Artist and vice versa.
I have tried dragging the tracks from the Mac library to the IPod music file..nothing. So I go to Safari, type the question in and read the same problems over.. Are Apple aware of their Tutorials without troubleshooting pages ?    Do they care?
My Pioneer DDJ/T1 is set up with Traktor and only wants to work with iTunes..  So iTunes are edging themselves in everywhere for everything... But it's still not working as it should..
Anyone have any clues please... Tried most all the ideas so far...

    1) This is because of software version 1.1. See this
thread for some options as to how to go back to 1.0,
    which will correct the problem...

    2) This tends to happen after videos. Give the iPod a
minute or two to readjust. It should now be more
    accurate.
    3) This?
iPod shows a folder icon with exclamation
    point
    4) Restore the iPod
    5) Try these...
iPod Only Shows An Apple Logo and Will Not Start
    Up
iPod Only Shows An Apple Logo
I think 3,4, and 5 are related. Try the options I
    posted for each one.

I just noticed that one of the restore methods you posted was to put it into Disk Mode First rather than just use the resstore straight off, I Have tried that and seems to have solved the problem, If it has thank you. previously I have only tried just restoring it skipping this extra step. Hope my iPod stays healthy, if it doesnt its a warrenty job me thinks any way thanks again

  • IMovie 06 video tutorials

FYI, for those of you who are still using iMovie HD 06 and are recommending it, there is a good 2-part video from Ohio University at:
    http://www.ohio.edu/aac/lab/techies/
Episodes 56 and 57 with each taking about 1/2 hour to watch.
It covers all the features, but it does not cover troubleshooting. Great for teachers to use as it is free and child friendly. They offer other videos too including iPhoto as part of their "Ask the Techies" show.

  • Airport Question for a Mac Newbie

I just got a Macbook Pro and I also bought the Airport Extreme. When I click on the Airport Icon I can see about 15 or so different networks at any given time. I have a 2 part question. First how do I know which network/router is mine? How can I rename the network that is listed? I am very new to Mac's and wireless networking. I just want to make sure that I have protected my network properly. I set up a password for WAP is that all I need to do? One last thing, is there anyway I can make sure that I am protected properly? Thanks Much!!!
    MacBook Pro 2GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.5)

A question eh? My counting must be off I see at least 4 question marks...
You know which router is yours because you set it up and named it. If you still can't figure it out you should pick a better name. When you click on your network and type in your password you should be able to connect.
To rename a network you will need to connect to it and run the AirPort Admin Utility which is location in the "Utilities" folder in your "Applications" folder.
If by WAP you mean WPA then you are off to a great start. When you picked the password I hope you didn't make it too easy to guess. Try putting numbers, letters and symbols in it and you should make it at least 16 charaters long to be sure that you are safe (I use 24 characters).
I would suggest looking at this tutorial from Apple - it might help answer some questions and should give you a better understanding:

  • How can I create a Table View in Cocoa Applescript?

This is my last resort. I've searched for days and only found tutorials for iPhone and Cocoa, and I have no idea where to start. I'm looking for a way to create a Table View, and fill it with a few cells that call a handler when clicked. I've looked through the Xcode help, the Apple documentation, and countless tutorials, and I don't know what to do. I'm sure what I'm asking is possible, because usually what is possible in Cocoa is possible in Cocoa-Applescript.
    Perhaps something like:
myTableView's addCell_OfType_WithHandler("This is a text cell", text, "myHandler:")
I would appretiate any responses and brief descriptions on the matter.

You did not answer my first question, which was not an idle question. I'll answer here, but if cross-chatter appears in a different thread I'll ignore it. You'll have to keep track of the mess yourself.
    Apple_For_The_Win wrote:
At this point, I've dragged a Table View onto my window, in Xcode. I've connected it to the value "myTableView", and that's where I need help. I'm specifically trying to add cells into the table view.
I'll assume that 'connected it to the value "myTableView"' means that you've control-dragged in XCode from the table view in Main Menu.xib to a property in your applescript app delegate called myTableView. If that's not the case, please correct me.
I prefer to use an array controller for this, so please drag an array controller object into main menu.nib. once you've done that, do the following:
open the applescript app delegate and add a new property called "tableController"
select the table view in the object list (you may need to open some disclosure triangles to reach it). and add appropriate (an) column name(s). you can hide column titles later if you like, but having named columns makes life easier.
select the array controller in the object list
rename the array controller "table data"
open the attributes inspector, and then add the column name(s) as key(s) in the object controller area
open the bindings inspector, and where it says "controller content", open the disclosure arrow and bind the content to the App Delegate object on the model key path self.tableController
select the table view in the object list again, then go down a level and select each column in turn
for each column, open the bindings inspector, and where it says "value", open the disclosure arrow and bind the content to the Table Data object with the controller key arrangedObjects model key path being the name of the column (which is the name of the key in the controller as well)
back in the applescript app delegate, add code like the following:
-- create a list of records, where each record represents a row and the column name is the record key
      set myData to {{column_1_name:"hello"}}
-- convert it to an NSArray and add it to the controller content. don't forget the *my* keyword, or it won't work
set my tableController to NSArray's arrayWithArray:myData
-- may or may not be needed
      myTableView's reloadData()
That should populate the table with simple text. if you want something more complicated (like buttons or links) then create the more complicated elements separately and add them to the data.

  • Ipod synch with PC and laptop?

I have been using itunes on my laptop and synch my ipod with it. I now added a new PC running Vista.
Can I synch my ipod 2gen Nano with botyh by laptop and my PC?
dell 520   Other OS   Windows Vista

You will have to set the ipod to manually manage all songs and playlists. This will allow you to connect your ipod to more than one computer.

  • How do I get my mac on thie internet?

I have a Preforma 6300CD Power PC, I also have a linksys wireless router, and a netgear 8 port gigabit switch. I have other computers on this network primarily linux and windows pc's. How do I get my mac to connect to the internet over tcp/ip connection? If I need an apple talk server; where can I get one that will run on a windows/linux pc that would share its internet connection with my mac? Im really lost here, and I would really love it if someone could tell me what i need to do, and tell me how to do some file sharing. Im sure once I can figure out how to get this mac on the net I probably wont have a problem with the file sharing.. One more thing I forgot to mention I don't know if it is important or not. My mac is running mac os 8 (do i need to upgrade this opperating system to reach my goal? I can only upgrade to system 9.1, and if that is the case will 9.1 do the job?).

    Hi Shrek
You will first need an ethernet Card for your 6300,LC or Comm, you can get them cheap on ebay.
You can use internet configuration assistant should be within 8.0 to get to internet.
Connecting to PC: You can use a Farallon iPrint Ethernet -adapter to connect to Ethernet. You can use MacPCLan software:

  • After migration to new computer -- null file is missing on existing project

I just moved to a new MacBook Pro from an old MacBook Pro (same models just a faster chip with more RAM). I migrated everything from the old to the new. I went to burn a DVD of an existing iDVD project that used a 5.0 theme and saw that an error was present. The main theme background image is missing and I get an error reading "The file (null) is missing." Any suggestions?

I've never tried to "migrate" an exiting iDvd project to another mac and I'm not even sure how well that works.
But if I were moving an existing iDvd project from one mac to another assuming they both had identical versions of iDvd & QT as well as similar assets for the project in question (ie, templates / themes), then I'd do the following which applies to both iDvd6 and iDvd'08:
    http://www.apple.com/support/ilife/tutorials/idvd/id3-4.html
(Ref. Project Archive or Disk Image)
Hope this helps but if not just come on back.
