Apple's people think this is somehow at my end.
After getting back my download rate of purchased content for a few weeks, I was downloading a big batch of TV when it went to the dogs again in the middle of it.
So, I opened up MSCONFIG and rebooted into the troubleshooting state they start at to the following no avail.
http://www.bobpeters61.us/linkables/itsperformanceissue/
Seeing all that, I went ahead and turned the bulk of my computer back on and have been watching my rate fluctuate since.
If Apple's people hadn't told me it was all at my end, I would swear that it's their servers getting bogged down.
It very well could be their servers.
However - does it go any faster with Norton temporarily disabled?
Fantastic screen shots, by the way. itunes diagnostics thinks you're not running as an admin - are you? If so, it is probably Norton blocking the admin rights of itunes.
I am not suggesting you run your PC without security software. It's just a test to see if Norton is bogging things down, vs Apple servers.

hey is the new update going to let people facetime more than one person like 3-way? you'd think apple would have done this by now
If there is we will not learn about until the update is released. Speculation about such is not permitted in the forums.

First off, i think it's sad that i have to use my non apple device to post this question... Why has my iPad become absolutely useless after updating to iOS 8.1? I am unable to use my mini because it crashes, slow performance, major battery drain.
Restore iPad to Factory Default; do not restore from backup. It may be the cause of the problem.

I starting to think this company thinks people got money to waste,or don't want people to resell their old phone cuz I've been using iPhones for three years now, buying them from coworker, friends and even strangers(had to return a stolen one once)so I'm a little educated about how to buy iphone secondhand but with ios7,I was never informed about the activation lock, which is a good feature but when you sign up for find my phone,it never say you automatically signed into activate lock or teaches you how to unlock this for resell,I think this is a big mistake on the company part and should be printed in the start up process,I'm upset cuz I brought a iphone4s with a good imei that not stolen(I seen the person old phone bills)but didn't know to have them release the activation lock

That is only present if you have already updated to iOS 5 or later. If you're on iOS 4 you can only update while connected to your computer's iTunes.

You can't access iCloud from your iPhone unless you're on iOS 5 or later. Otherwise, refer to this article:

Wi-Fi on my iphone4s is grayed out and I think this happened after the update 7.0.4. I tried all possible solutions through apple online support and then went to apple store as a last resort and they turned me down that there is no support in the 2nd year. Only option is to pay 160 pounds and get replacement. When I argued further, they said that if I had bought the iphone directly with them, they would replace me without any cost. This is even more frustrating.
THIS IS TOTALLY UNFAIR as its not my fault. If the release of faulty 7.0.4 software is timed in my 2nd year of contract and since I didnt buy the iphone directly from Apple, how is it fair to ask me to pay for replacement. Its not my fault after all.Because you are outside the one year hard ware warrenty, Apple covers for the first year on their dime, if you had a two year contract why not make sure you have a two year insurance on your phone?
Either way as I can see/assume you are from europe you can look at your consumer laws to see if you qualify for anything there, beyond that it isn't the software that broke the device, it's a hardware failure because thousands upon thousands are happy and content with iOS 7.0.4 -
This really ***** that they sent out and update to the iPhone ISO6 and I can't send or receive pics! Being that its apple you would think they would know better than to send out a bad update like this! I'm paying for a service and I can even use now!!! I'm very upset! Think about canceling my iPhone 5 order! This is terrible!
Wahhhhhhhhhh! Wahhhhhhhhhh!
Are you over your little tantrum now? Do you want help you would like to continue to act like a toddler?
If you want help, try telling us what happens when trying to send pics. Any errors?

How do I change the 'Full Name' on my iCloud Mail (and on my Apple ID as I think this is where it is getting my Full Name? Thanks
To change it on and iOS device, go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars...tap your iCloud email account, tap you iCloud account at the top, tap Mail at the bottom, then enter the name you want to use in the Name field at the top.
To change the From name on your Mac Mail, go to icloud.com, sign into your account, open Mail, click the gear shaped icon on the top right and choose Preferences, go to the Accounts tab and enter the name you want to use in the Full Name field and click Done. Then quit Mail on your Mac and re-open it. Your new From name should now appear in the drop-down list when you compose a new email. -
I live in Somerset, UK, but having recently come back from a trip to Germany, my iPad thinks it is still in Germany. Is there any way to correct this? I am new to apple conventions, but thought this was an automatic update when the iPad locks on to a local Wifi hotspot. Any thoughts out there?
Thank you all for responding - much appreciated, but none of the advice has shifted my location from Germany. Time Zone is shown as Lonon, Region Format is shown as UK, and Reset Network Settings seemed only to switch off the Wifi connection.
I'll leave it at that I think, and make do with the iPad thinking it's in Germany.
Best wishes,

i just got an email from Apple, asking me to complete a survey. If I don't then I'll loose my Apple ID. I think this is spam/virus/hacker. Anybody have any info on this?
There have been a number of phishing scam emails going around for at least half a year...do not respond, click links, or do anything with that email. Apple does not operate that way.

HT5455 Do you think Apple is serious about this article? Ghosting/IR is normal LOL
Npt sure but is this real??!!!
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5455?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_USI can't speculate about Apple's motives for this article, but I don't think IR is a normal occurance on IPS panels, nor is it normally seen on iMac's. I've had several iMacs with IPS panels, not one of them has ever exhibited a bit of IR or "ghosting". I also, prior to purchasing my iMacs poured over the boards and various Mac centered forums, including this Support Community for any problems that purchasers were having. I recall there was a screen brightness problem on several that persisted, there were other screen problems but ghosting wasn't one of them. So I think that is an inaccurate if not disengenuous pronouncement. Ghosting is apparantly occuring on several of the new MBP Retina screens using LG panels. I don't think this normal or acceptable and I think the solution is that Apple and its team need to get with the panel manufactureres and other engineers and sort out the problem, and then fix the MBP Retina displays that are exhibiting this problem It should not be an acceptable standard for any Apple product. No other response is worthy of the standards that Apple has set for itself and its customers.

Hey guys apple need to sort this volume problem out soon like there is guys who have just bought new phones and it is happening to there's.i went to an apple shop for them to tell me I had to pay £150 to get it replaced I don't want a replacement so clearly they know what the problem is apple need to review this site and act fast before they loose alot of customers.
If you just purchased your iPhone, it will still be under warranty and Apple will replace it at no charge assuming that there hasn't been any damage due to abuse. So anyone with a new iPhone will be taken care of. If your iPhone is out of warranty and it has a hardware problem, then you have to pay the replacement charge regardless of what the problem is. Apple does not repair individual iPhones, they replace them. If you want the iPhone repared rather than replaced, you'll need to send the iPhone to an independent repair shop.
Since you don't say what "volume problem" you're referring to, though, we can't say whether or not this is indeed a hardware problem. Perhaps if you'll detail the problem and what steps you've taken to try and correct it, someone can offer advice.

Since years, my wife and I are sharing one Apple computer. On this, we both have an individual user account. Each of us has an own iTunes Account and an own individual media library. Each of us is using an own individual iPhone, which we frequently update with our iTunes Accounts. We have had this setup for years. It was convenient, reliable and user friendly, since we both could download what we wanted, create playlists, etc. without impact on the other. Exactly this convenience has made me and my wife real Apple fans, so that we also wanted to convince our daughter to move from Android and PC to our easier Apple setup.
Since a few weeks, this setup does not work anymore. From Apple Support (online chat on Apple.at) I was not told that this is not supported any more. Every computer is only allowed to be connected to one iTunes account. From one perspective (sharing music across other users as an act or media piracy, etc.) I can somehow understand this. However, since we are using different user accounts on this computer, I do not have access to other user´s iTunes media and could not play, download or copy it. So what is the point in this?
This now means, that my wife and I are only allowed to download individually purchased music with our personal iTunes accounts only with an interval of 90 days, so every on of us 2 times a year!
Was I incorrectly informed by the Apple support? If so, how can I solve the problem? Or is this really a new policy by Apple? If so, what is the reason? Am I expected to purchase a Mac for my wife, my daughter, myslef and for the three smaller kids to follow soon?Welcome to the Apple Community.
Unfortunately, if Apple simply allowed people to log into different accounts and download content, everyone would be using everyone could share everyone else's content and bypass the need to purchase anything. To protect against this, they limit you to logging into a new account to once every 90 days.
If two or more of you, have different accounts and use only one computer, you should each have your own user account on the computer, to avoid the need to log in and out of iTunes. -
What is Apple's logic behind this?
I open a file (any kind will do) and make some changes. After I'm done, I hit CMD + W to close the file and the program correctly asks if I want to save my changes, close without saving, or cancel closing the file. The Save button is highlighted on the button and outside the button. If I hit the tab button, the outside highlight moves to the different buttons, but the button highlight remains on the Save option, so when I hit enter, it thinks I'm saying to Save.
Can anyone explain the logic behind this? I just don't get why Apple thinks this is an efficient/right way to do things. Thanks for any helpful answers.Hi--
To actually select the button that has focus (the outside highlight), hit the space bar.
I suspect the rationale is something like this: they don't want to override the usual functionality of the buttons, but just offer a second or third way to select buttons.
Many, if not most apps, particularly in the situation you describe, already have pretty solid keyboard shortcuts for the three buttons. Of course, "enter" for "Save", "esc" for "Cancel", and "command"-"d" almost always works for "Don't Save". From observation, of those people who use keyboard shortcuts in dialogs, this is by far the most common way they do it. I don't think I've ever seen anyone use the tab key in dialog boxes (and I think it's off by default except for navigating between text boxes).
