Apple's Single-Document Interface in Windows

I've been a Windows user all my life, but I use a Mac at work. I've come to appreciate one and only thing about OSX, and that is the SDI (single document interface). I can easily drag vector objects from my Illustrator window into a Photoshop window, because there is no giant gray "parent" window that contains all the windows from each program, as in the MDI (multiple...) in Windows.
I'm looking for a way to get rid of that gray parent window in my Adobe products on my Windows 7 machine at home. I couldn't find anything in the applications' preferences, but hopefully I'm overlooking something, and someone here can point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance for your help.
(Please no "switch to a Mac" comments please...it's not happening )

Yeah, as a Windows user that's what I always did before I used it on a Mac and realized that they had a different way of doing it. Honestly, the lack of an application frame really distracted me at first when I started my new job and all they had was Macs. But I got used to it and learned to appreciate its functionality, so now when I do work on my PC at home I miss that functionality. I guess dragging things to the taskbar will have to continue to be the work around until Adobe makes the Windows application fram optional like on the Mac. Thanks for the help.

Please try
Double click printer icon on desktop,
Select Scan a Document or Photo,
Put the first page on the glass (face down),
Check options (size, dpi ...), and select Scan document to file,
Click Scan - machine will scan the first page
Remove the first page on the glass, put the second page,
Click + (plus sign) It sits on the left hand side of a red x
Machine will scan the second page, put 3rd page on the glass and click + again ..... to the end then click Save
Click Done after Save

I meant what scanning application are you using. Sorry for not being clearer. Are you using Image Capture, for example, or an HP application? For example, if you use Image Capture then click on the Show Details button in the bottom status area:

Note the checkbox labeled Combine into single document. I think that's what you are looking for.

for that i have written following code in process request of the controller:

Instead of giving the link in Process form request, give the link directly in Destination URI property of the button and in target property write _blank.
Note : use normal button not submit button

I have had a similar problem. I have a 1Tb portable Seagate drive which I have been using successfully for backups with time machine on a Macbook running Lion for 18 months.
I decided to upgrade to Mavericks and experienced the same symptoms as above. The machine would not recognise the disk in finder. Disk utilities could see the disk but the partition was greyed out and several attempts to repair disk were to no avail. I am afraid that I made matters worse by unsuccessfully trying to reformat the disk.
I made a backup of my macbook to another older mac and tried the hard disk with an old Windows laptop running Vista. It recognised the disk but said it need to be formatted. This I did.
In the mean time I had upgraded my Macbook from 10.9.3.to 10.9.4. I am not sure if this made a difference.
I then plugged the hard disk back in to the Macbook. It recognised it immediately and said that it needed initialising. This I did successfully and (MAC os extended Journal). The disk now works perfectly with 10.9.4 on the Macbook and I have been able to use Time Machine with it to make a backup.
I know this does not help with rescuing data from the hard disc but at least I now have a usable hard disk!

Pages '09 (4.1) should have no problem opening your AW6 word processing documents.
You can open an AW6 wp file in Pages by -
• Do a Get Info on the AW6 file, then choose Pages from the Open With pulldown menu. Close the Get Info window, then double-click the AW6 file. If you want to do this to all of them, befoe closing the Get Info window click the "Change all" button just under the previous pulldown menu.
• Start up Pages, use the Open item in the File menu to navigate to and open the AW6 file.
• Drop the AW6 file onto the icon for Pages.

Please read the post properly
there should be no spaces between the folder of PATCH_TOP directory like below
C:\Documents and Settings \applmgr\Desktop \ IL Patches \patch\6167056\backup\reports\US
copy the patch in c:\>6167056 and apply the patch

Export song library to PDF document Mac vs Windows

I have used iTunes under OSX and Windows and a feature that I cannot find under OSX is the ability to export my whole song library to a PDF document. In Windows I did this and it automatically created a PDF document nicely formatted with the album cover images where available and sorted by artist order. Under OSX, I can only export songlists to a txt file and it is very difficult to read.
Is this function only available on Windows or was it phased out of the iTunes app? (I used this feature quite some time ago - approx 2 years, about v.4.5at a guess)
Any assistance appreciated.

You will be happy to know this CAN be done in OSX.
Select your Library from the Source List in iTunes. Make sure that ALL is seen in the window.
Then just PRINT (Either from drop-down or Command-P) Select "Song Listing" and "Save as PDF".
This will make a PDF of the library for you. You can also select a single track in the library list, then do a Command-A (or Select All from pull-down) and Copy then Paste into a spreadsheet, or where ever you need.

If we know the path to the document, is there any suit or interface available in photoshop cs2's sdk for opening a document in photoshop window?
We are developing phtoshop automation plug-ins, to all user to encode and decode photoshop documents automatically. for that we are adding 'Decode and Open' and 'Encode and Save As' menu under FILE->Automate menu, and all user to Select document to open and saveAs.
We are able decode the selected document, we are saving that to users temporary folder, but could not open the decoded document in photoshop's (layout) window.
Is there any suit or interface available in photoshop cs2's sdk for opening a document in photoshop window?

Build and install the Listener and Getter projects.
Start Photoshop and execute the File->Open command.
Check the Listener.log file on your desktop or at c:\.
Copy paste this code into a new automation plug-in project and execute.

Multiple Document Interface

Dear Experts,
I am a new user with Measurement Studio for visual C++ and want to develop a Multiple Document Interface(MDI).
Where can I find an example to show how to create it step by step. Application Note 175 shows
how to create a SDI case but not a MDI.

You can find this information in the Microsoft documentation. Check out Working with MDI Applications and Creating Menus in MSDN online. This topic walks you through creating an MDI application. You should be able to use this topic along with the application note you referenced to learn how to create an MDI application.
There isn't anything specific support in Measurement Studio that is particular to MDI, SDI, or dialog-based applications. All of the specific support for these application types is build into the MFC framework. Consequently, MFC documentation is the best place for you to go to find out about these types of applications.
One piece of advice I can give is that MFC documentation tends to assume you will use CView as the base class of your child windows. However, you will typically want to use CFormView as the base class of your child windows for applications in which you are using Measurement Studio user interface controls.

i believe the answer is that Adobe is following Windows Programming User Interface Guidelines, that Microsoft itself doesn't always follow.

Combining Pages Files into a single document

I have looked for an answer to this but have not found a suitable solution. It's a pretty straightforward question. I have about 10 articles written in Pages and I need to basically compile them into a kind of book format (single document, continuous page numbers etc.). I know how to do this in MS Word, but can't work out how to do this in Pages. It is essential that I put this together in Pages because some articles have special formatting with end notes, images, sections etc. that can't be lost or messed up.

This behaves exactly as you would expect.
You can grab pages in the thumbnails and freely shuffle them. You can also drag the thumbnail pages between documents. Using cmd-shift you can even do this with out-of-sequence pages.
There are plenty of other features as well that Pages lacks and it has a much better written and direct interface without the confusing convolutions of Pages.
As a bonus you get crop marks and the ability to impose exported files.
The templates are not up to Pages' standards but there is nothing stopping you recreating exactly what you have in Pages.

Can JSP be used to simulate Multi Document Interface?

I am new to JSP and I am trying to reimplement (migrate) a PowerBuilder based GUI application, with heavy use of "Multi Document Interface" (multi frames).
My questions are:
1- Does JSP supports "Multi Document Interface (MDI) like" functionality? Can anyone send me a simple JSP example where a click on a one JSP page causes multiple frames (pages) to appear in the same browser?
2- How one can implement Multi Documment Tabbed Interace? This is where JSP renders more than one page each with a tab. Clicking a tab brings its corresponding page.

JSP is loaded in a web-browser. Hence there is no MDI possibility. What you can do is for each click open a new window. Consider each window like a separate MDI form.
Otherwise you can generate an applet that uses Swing/awt and use the MDI capabilities in these technologies. Of course this is a much more cumbersome method than the previous one.
