Apple's time server WRONG for Argentina

Due to the Argentine's governments choice NOT to implement day-light savings this year, the Apple time server is an hour off from the official time in Argentina. This screws up my iCal.

I don't know if this is a "solution", but I had the same issue with the clock widget (I have a clock widget set for Argentina because my wife is from there, and the US clock because I am from the US). Anyway, I changed it from "Buenos Aires" to be "Asunción" because at least the Hour was correct. (I also submitted feedback to Apple). Can you perhaps set your timezone to another one that has the correct time (even though it may not be "Argentina")?
I am kind of glad Ar. didn't do the Daylight Saving thing (I think it's stupid to always change the time), but Yes, the clock is now wrong because Apple's servers are wrong... Hopefully they will fix it soon.
Just my thoughts...

  • Command to Sync with Time Server

I forgot the command to manually sync with the systems' designated time server...
I know you can manually use "date" via Terminal to manually set the date/time, but I'd like the user to simply run a "sync with designated time server" command.
    Ideas?
    Thanks,

Here's an example using the apple's time server:
    sudo /usr/sbin/ntpdate time.apple.com

  • Apple Time Server is wrong on my Macbook Pro

    Hi,
For a while now I've recognised that my timestamps on various applications are appearing wrong. For example: My Twitter feed says tweets were from 5 Hours ago when they may have only been from 10 minutes.
I checked my settings and in Time & Date, I had it set to custom. The custom time was correct, and so was the date, however the time stamps were still wrong.
I then proceeded to check the box that says "Set Date and Time automatically" -> I then chose Apple Europe and it states that the time is 23:14, when infact it is actually 04:14 therefore being 5 hours different, relating to the timestamp problem I'm receiving.
Therefore from this evidence I'm assuming that there is something wrong with the time server on my macbook.
TL:DR - My macbook pro time server is 5 hours slow and is making applications give an incorrect time stamp.
I'm on a macbook Pro from 2011 roughly. I did also have a short circuit problem months ago that may have been the cause, I seem to remember that roughly being the time that the timestamps started appearing wrong!
Any help would be really appreciated!
    thanks

Check your Time Zone setting in the Date & Time preference pane.  Also be aware that if you have the "Set time zone automatically using current location" enabled, then using a VPN with an endpoint in another country could cause this problem.
Also be aware that if you have any type of firewall in place on your network then the NTP protocol may be blocked.  In this case your only solution is to set the date, time, and timezone manually.

  • Apple Time Server displaying wrong time

So I have the option 'Date and Time' I have the 'Set Date and Time Automatically' checked and the apple time server selected. I also have the correct time zone selected. However, the time that is displayed is one day and five hours ahead of the actual time. I know I can manually set the time, but the time stamps on my emails don't change when I do that. So I'd appreciate it if there was a way for me to use the automatic time setting, but have it display the correct time.

There are three apple timeservers. Try changing to a different one and then back to the correct one.

  • Why is the Apple Weather App wrong for low temps in Albuquerque, NM?  Low temp is always displays about 10 degrees too low.

Why is the Apple Weather App wrong for low temps in Albuquerque, NM?
Low temp is always displays about 10 degrees too low.

The reason for the problematic weather prediction in Apple is simple and disturbing at the same time.
    1. Traditionally Apple gets its weather data from Yahoo! they do so regardless to the fact that Yahoo is not a weather company, this arrangement has historical reasons (and it has nothing to do with the accuracy or quality of service you as a user are getting from Apple weather).
    2. Yahoo! (not a weather company) gets its weather data from the Weather Channel.
    3. Weather Channel CEO (David Kenny) also serves as Yahoo board member. So good luck changing the Weather Channel Yahoo agreement.
    4. The iPhone build in weather app is one of the world most popular apps, The Weather Channel has no incentive to make the Apple weather app as accurate as The Weather Channel own app.
The result is – easy to use inaccurate weather app

  • I need to change from Japan App Store to Australia App Store. I get this every time I try using My MacID: "This Apple ID is only valid for purchases in the Japanese iTunes Store. You will be switched to that Store." What next TY. JohnCahill

I moved from Japan to Australia. I need to change from Japan App Store to the Australian App Store. I get the following message every time I try using My MacID which was set up in Japan: "This Apple ID is only valid for purchases in the Japanese iTunes Store. You will be switched to that Store." At one point... by which path I do not remember... I was instructed to created a new ID. I fill out the new ID forms, but the address is rejected each time... quite confusing. Does it want a new name? But it says I cannot use an apple domain (tag?) even though I guess it has to be an apple address... ? So I have iTunes crdit cards purchansed in Australia, can't spend in AUstralian iTunes Store, get directed back to Japan each time, and can't open a new ID... What am I doing wrong? Thank you in advance.  John. Australia.

You must have a separate Apple ID registered in the other store along with a valid bank-issued charge card in the other country, and a legal billing address in the other country.
Sorry... But... You cannot use other countries itunes stores.
You must be within the Country with a Valid Billing Address and Credit Card for that Country to use the iTunes Store of that Country..

  • ICal time zone correct in month view, but wrong for individual events

I have my timezone set correctly to Pacific everywhere I know of (iCal upper right corner, iCloud account, computer, iPhone).
When I create an event (e.g. typing "6:30pm Work out" into a new event block), it shows up correctly (e.g. places itself at 6:30pm in monthly/weekly view).
However, when I click the event, in the details box it has the wrong timezone set (e.g. says that it's at 1:30am GMT).
This doesn't impact how things look in my calendar view, or how they sync to my iPhone and my Google calendars, all of that is fine.
What it DOES impact is that if I need to change the time, I have to go in and switch a bunch of things in invariably clumsy ways (e.g. change it to 7:30pm... oops, now it's tomorrow, switch its timezone to Pacific... shoot, now it's 9:30am, change back to 7:30pm...)
It's just annoying, and shouldn't be happening. Anyone know what is going on, and how to fix it? I've deleted the calendar cache, but it didn't help.

we are a creative design studio, we need to use apple mac pro server , so we can make more than a different user to use at the same time doing different activities, on different screens, is it possible?what is the max. no. of users that can work efficient.
Appreciate your support and if possible , how to do this?

If you want to work with Mac OS X, you need one computer per simultaneous user.
What you are describing, " Multiple simultaneous logins to a single computer" is not avialable on a regular Mac of any description, unless you decide to use Unix tools instead of Mac OS X.
Server will happily store files for many, many users and provide them to multiple (up to hundreds) of computers at "near hard Drive" speeds over Gigabit Ethernet. It can make the File Sharing part easy.

  • Clock sync with apple time server

    Hi everyone!
I am experiencing some oddities with the clock sync with apple time server
if I set the clock to a given hour and then set it to GMT hour with the European time server, the clock does not automatically adjust to the proper time! why is that? when does the clock sync to the time server? can I modify this time adjustment?
thanks in advance for the support!

Do you have the correct zone set in the "Time Zone" tab of "Date & Time" system preference? All the time servers use UTC (GMT), so will give the same time.

  • Is there an Exchange server equivalent for Apple Xserve?

I have an Apple Xserve and I'd like to run something like an Exchange server, to allow my Entourage clients to host calendar, email, Tasks, and addressbooks on there. Is Apple working on anything like this?
    Mike

    Hi
There should be no need to post in the XServe Forum. The XServe is dedicated server hardware, your question is really about the Server OS. You could browse the Server Forum for more information:
    http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=96
To answer your question - Yes, absolutely. Kerio Mail Server:
    http://www.kerio.co.uk/kms_home.html
    Zimbra:
    http://www.zimbra.com/products/
Both of these products offer support for iPhone, Treo and Blackberry. KMS has a handy facility where it can remotely 'wipe' a supported mobile device if its been stolen. Although this is speculation and not really 'allowed' on these forums I think Apple is working towards similar features in their forthcoming Server products. Right now Apple's built in mail server is poor in terms of what is offered using the Interface. It's good enough to get you going if all you want are simple Mail Services. It's actually quite good. However if you want more then you there is not much you can't achieve if you're prepared to use the command line. A necessity at some stage if you are contemplating administering a server regardless of its role. Apple are planning to expand what is available by adding 'out of office' and server side 'email rules' facilities in Snow Leopard:
    http://www.apple.com/server/macosx/snowleopard/
You don't have that currently unless you are prepared to install avelsieve:
    http://email.uoa.gr/avelsieve/
I'm not sure how well Apple's built-in Mail Server supports shared contacts and calendars with Microsoft's products? It's been some time but I have had some mixed success in the past. KMS has no problem regardless of platform or what is being used. For PCs it behaves exactly as if it was an Exchange Server.

    Hi dip_kinu,
I apologize, I'm a bit unclear on exactly what device you are trying to set up and what is happening when you try to do so. If you are having issues remembering your Apple ID, or feel like you may have set up multiple Apple ID's, you may find the following page helpful:
