Apple's Up-to-Date Program :(

There is just one thing that I have to say about Apple's Up to Date Program and that is it is not very Apple like. I am surprised that Apple took such a poor approach in providing Mountain Lion to customers that just spent a lot of money on their new machines. Next time I will wait until the machines start shipping with the new OS before making my purchase. How disappointing.

So if I understand you guys correctly: even if I bought a new Mac recently and qualify for the Up-to-Date program, I don't automatically get a license for Snow Leopard; the $9.95 for the upgrade kit is not just for shipping and handling but also a license fee? Correct?

  • Up To Date Program with Refurbs?

Hi, sorry if this is in the wrong place, I am new here.
I just bought a refurbished MBP and was wondering if Apple's Up To Date program for Lion is applicable for it, does anyone here know?
    Thanks

Thanks, I have found that suggestion on other forums/discussions and wasn't going to bother calling . I was just wondering if anyone here knew, if not I will just wait and see.

P.S. There aren't any Apple Stores in MT.

  • Question about Apple's Snow Leopard Up-to-Date program

I just pre-ordered the 10.6 upgrade from Amazon for my older mini; my sister just bought a new MacBook Pro without 10.6. Can I (of course I can, but should I?) use my copy of 10.6 to upgrade her MacBook so she doesn't have to order the upgrade kit? The terms of the program says she's entitled to the upgrade.

  • Can anyone actually help me with the up-to-date program???

First off, I want to state that I have been an Apple customer for years owning multiple iPhones, MacBooks, and iPads.  Although I've had some minor glitches in the past, they were all fixed with relative ease.  I recently purchased (8/11/12) an iMac as I am going back to school.  This purchase has been plagued with issues from the start.  I ordered it online and picked it up at a local Apple store.  Upon getting my computer home, I realized there wasn't a mouse or keyboard.  I called the store back and explained the problem to them and they asked that I come back to the store with the receipt that was taped to the box to get a new keyboard and mouse.  Upon returning, it turned out that they gave me someone else's computer.  Luckly everything was fixed....but that was the start of the iMac from ****.
So this issue all started because I couldn't get my new iMac to find my documents on iCloud (originally written on my iPad).  So I called Apple Care to figure out what I was doing wrong.  We finally figured out that my iMac wasn't finding my iCloud documents because I needed the Mt. Lion Up-To-Date program.  Soooo they sent me the link to redeem the program for free since my computer is new....did I mention I just bought this iMac???  So I input all the data (name, address, date of purchase, computer serial number) yet I got a message back saying: " This is an already claimed serial number."  So I called Apple Care back since clearly something was wrong.  So hours go by and it is finally determined that someone else used my computer serial number to redeem the copy of the Up-To-Date Program.  Numerous customer service reps (and I've lost count how many people I have talked to in the last 24 hours) have stated that the computer serial number which is registered to me was used by someone else, obviously they couldn't give me that person's name or contact info.  In addition, the customer service people all said this has never happened before and that they didn't know what to do about it.  So I've been forwarded to numerous people to no avail.  The latest contact, which was given to me by a Senior Supervisor in another department because he didn't know how to fix this, makes me want to ram my head through a wall.  I was told to send an email to [email protected] explaining the situation and various details I've gotten so far.  Their email reply made me want to scream when I read it because they clearly didn't read or investigate the issue as they gave me a blank statement: "
    Dear Apple Customer,
Thank you for contacting the OS X Mountain Lion Up-To-Date Support Team.
We are unable to locate your claim in the database.  To further assist us please send the following information to [email protected]:
    Your Claim Reference Number

If you have not submitted a claim please go to the OS X Mountain Lion Up-to-Date program page at

Please note that we can assist only with inquires for the OS X Mountain Lion Up-to-Date program.  For all other questions please consult http://www.apple.com/.
    Thank You For Choosing Apple
As you can see they are asking for a claim reference number.....the **** system will not let me make a claim because someone else already has!!!!!!!!  That's the problem!!!!
I don't know what to do!!!  All I want is for my iMac to work with iCloud!!!! I also don't think I should have to pay for the program because I am entitled to it for free since I just bought the computer.  By far this is one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had (even worse than the **** cable company...and we all know they're idiots)!!!  Does anyone know of anyone I can contact to fix this issue????  Also, I don't see how someone could of used my serial number if they didn't know my address information.  I just heard last night about a possible Apple ID hacking on the news.  I wonder if this could be related, since everyone I've talked to has acknowledged the issue but no one has given me a situation.  Another coincidence (that may or may not be related), the credit card connected to my iTunes account was recently closed by the bank for fraudulent charges.  That card is primarily used for my iTunes account, so I also wonder if that could be related.  In the end, I am disgusted and appalled by the customer service I am receiving.

If it were me I would schedule an appointment at the store where you bought it and meet with the Manager of the store in person. Print this post and bring it with you along with your iMac.
And change the password on your Apple ID and then see if there are in purchases in your account that you did not make. If there are then someone did get your ID and password. If not someone got your Credit Card information from somewhere and used it.

  • How does the Apple Headphones with Remote Replacement Program non-return fee work?

I have a pair of Apple In-Ear Headphones with Remote and Mic that I purchased a year ago. According to the "Apple Headphones with Remote Replacement Program", http://www.apple.com/support/headphones/replacementprogram/, these headphones are also covered in the program. Currently, there are some issues with my headphone's remote, as it is extremely unresponsive. I don't know how Apple determines the headphone's purchase date, but their online service request page accepts my iPhone's serial number. Is there any way that i could ensure that Apple's willing to replace the headphones for free (E.g. mailing my current ones in first) because the non-return fee is basically its retail price. I do not live in the US so I can't go and exchange at an Apple Retail Store. Thanks in advance.

I would just bring them into your local Apple Store/Genius Bar and ask.

  • How do I download my free copy of mountain lion. The up-to-date program says my serial is already registered.

I tried to register my name and purchase information with the up-to-date program but the site says my serial number is already registered. So am I already available for the upgrade? Or did some little punk at futureshop rip off my serial number?

    Welcome to Apple Communities
You can't receive it. Go to the shop you bought it

  • The content code I got was said as not reconised valid code during redemption of Up-to-date Program?

I have registered for up-to-date program. However the content code I received was said as not recognised valid code during redemption. What can I do?

The Apple Support Communities are an international user to user technical support forum. As a man from Mexico, Spanish is my native tongue. I do not speak English very well, however, I do write in English with the aid of the Mac OS X spelling and grammar checks. I also live in a culture perhaps very very different from your own. When offering advice in the ASC, my comments are not meant to be anything more than helpful and certainly not to be taken as insults.
Folks report a two email process; one with a secure pdf that has the redemption code and another with the password to open the secure pdf.

That would indicate a network issue.
    Reboot ATV and router
Make sure DNS is set to auto
Ensure router is up to date, if on wifi try ethernet
Go to istumbler.net to get a report of the network, look for signal strength and noise

  • Up-to-date program (iWork and iLife)

I have problem downloading iWork from Mac app store after receive redeem code from up-to-date program. I can use redeem code to download iWork but there was internet connection problem occur during download Page and keynote (I can finish download Number only). I can’t use this redeem code to try download again and it does not appear to resume download in purchase page of Mac app store. I have also tried the following
              1. Sign out my apple ID from Mac app store and sign in again, go to purchase page and found that it appear in "other purchase” tab in the purchase page with message in red color that “An error has occurred”.
              2. Click “Store” -> “Check for unfinished download” function from the menu bar and found message that “All purchases have been downloaded for this account” and no way to resume downloading.
Moreover, after update to OS X 10.9, it doesn’t come with iLife. I can download Garageband from Mac app store for free but it will charge $14.99 each for iPhoto and iMovie.
I have also email to apple by replying to the email which apple sent me the redeem code for up-to-date program ([email protected]). I'm not sure that if it will reach apple support or not becaue I'm not sure that if it some kinds of automatic reply email, However, I can't find any email that I can contact.
I have also called apple support but it appear to be not working time for them when I called. I'm not available at their working time to call them. But I will try to call them if there is no way to find anyway to solve this.
Therefore, could anyone tell me how to finish downloading Pages, Keynote, iPhoto and iMovie as I should receive these all apps for free? I would appreciate it if anyone can help.
    Thank you

  • Can't update iPhoto, because Mac is part of Up-to-Date Program

I had some interesting mail traffic with Apple, but now I am stuck.
I bought a Macbook Pro early August this year. When I open my App-Store it says that I have one update for iPhoto. When I click the update-button, it says that I have to buy the product. I mailed Apple to ask why I can not update, since I bought my Mac after Lion was released and I should have the rights to download any update for the software that comes with it. After a long conversation the status quo is: I either have a refurbished Mac, which is not the case, or my Mac is part of the Up-to-Date program. This means that initially Leopard was installed on my computer and Apple just changed the OS to Lion. All good with me, but I ordered a Macbook with Lion, not one with an updated system that causes problems, ie gives apple more money since I have to buy software now.
Can I get a new Mac with Lion as the initial OS or can Apple give me some codes that allow me to get the updates for free?
    Thanks for any reply.

If you purchased iPhoto through the MacApp store (MAS) then you can update via the MAS. There have been some bugs in how the update is displayed in the MAS. The key is - where did you get iPhoto from - the MAS or via the MBP when you purchased and iPhoto was already installed on the MBP.
The other path is from the http://support.apple.com/downloads/#iphoto

  • When will the Up-to-Date program clear?

I bought my MacBook Pro on June 15th, several days after Apple announced their back-to-school sale. This qualifies me for the free Mountain Lion upgrade. I applied for the free upgrade yesterday morning, going through the process of submitting my serial number and other info. When will this process clear and when will I receive my upgrade code?

Right now Apple is having issues with the uo to date program. I too like you am waiting and hoped that it would be resolved today, but so far no luck. I know that they duplicated some redemption codes, so i think they are resolving that issue before giving out new codes.

  • Has anyone submitted a successful application for the up-to-date program?

has anyone submitted a successful application for the up-to-date program? I submitted my application 2 days ago and when I log on it's still under review.  Has anyone had difficulty with this? When they finally get back to me am I likely to be offered iworks? - I've fulfilled all criteria, I just wonder whether they expect me to jump through any more hoops

Change your Mac's System Preferences to English and go to the Mac App Store and you should see it for free.
Otherwise see the Apple Up-To-Date Program:

  • Up To Date Program - No code received within 72 hours

    Hello Apple,
I am one of those early adopters of the retina MBP. I participated to the "Up To Date Program", but received no code within 72 hours.
This is quite annoying because I am on holidays now and have enough time to spend with my new machine and OS.
Hope my code will be submitted soon.
@Others: Anyone else waiting longer than 72 hours?
    Best regards
    BurningCorner

    Hi!
I got mine yesterday at 5 am in the morning. So it took about 5 days. I think the process of manual checking the receipts is quite timeconsuming.
Apple should improve this by using their own serial number database. For example customers from the apple online store are prequalified. This could save them a lot of work.
As i am a total changer ( dropped my whole windows enviroment ) this was a bit frustrating for me.
Now i am a proud owner of a MBP Retina with 16 Gigs and 512 MB SSD with OS X 10.8, a Time Capsule, Super Drive, an Iphone 4, Ipad 1 and Ipad 3. Generation. Only using Windows for some Steamgames in Bootcamp.
    Best regards

  • Up-To-Date Program confirmation, over 24th hours still nothing.

Has anyone got their App Store code yet? It's been over 24 hours and still haven't hear a word. Emailed Tunes Store/ Mac App Store Customer Support about it and told me to email uptodate support and haven't heard back.
Just wondering how long it usually takes.

    Hi,
There's plenty of threads with the same complaint/concern.
    You are not alone.
Apple messed up badly with the Up-to-Date program.
I don't have my code either (I bought a 2012 Macbook Air a month ago).
It's a waiting game for now...
I've heard (yesterday), it could take 72 hours. So Maybe we'll have ours tomorrow some time...perhaps.
    Who knows for sure.

  • 'Up-to-date program' wont accept UK telephone number?

    Hi
(apologies if this has been covered, i couldnt find a similiar thread)
I am trying to request the free 'up-to-date' mountain lion update for my retina MacBook however it is asking for my telephone numbe in US format when i'm from the UK and hence not letting me progress any further... any ideas of a solution?
    Thanks
    T

Not always - the old Mac Up to Date program required us to send for a disk from Apple and if you didn't supply all the information required or missed the cut off date you were SOL. If anything, this system is easier for most of us.
