Apple Screwing Customers Who Bought Apple Software Pre-App Store

I bought iWork June 29, 2010. I had downloaded and installed the trial version of iWork and then paid for an activation key.
Last month I bought a new mac book air. Because I downloaded iWork from Apple's website and then purchased and activation key I have no iWork disc.
I contacted Apple to ask for an App Store redemtion code in credit for the iWork license I already purchased (after determining there was no other way to install iWork on my MBA) so that I could install the software on my new machine. To which I was told:
"If you no longer have that trial version on your computer, I'm afraid that you will have to re-purchase the iWork software." -Anthony, iTunes Store Customer Support
So before the App Store I could have re-downloaded iWork from Apple's website and used the activation key to reinstall it on my new laptop.
Now, simply because Apple has changed the way they distribute their software, they say "screw you" to their customers, "pay up again for software you have already purchased".

It seems to me that you were talking to the wrong department. The iTunes Store would have nothing to do with this problem. You still have Mac App Store support, AppleCare and your closest Apple Genius Bar to try.

    I guess I will wrap this up. I have abandoned iPhoto and viewing my Photo Streams using it and moved to Adobe products (Bridge + PS). So that's that.

    Do you know the feature of many web shops, where you can see similar items (i.e. "customers who bought this item also bought...")?
    A simple approach would be to return similar items from the latest orders. What I would like to list are products, which were bought BY MANY OTHER CUSTOMERS in addition to the origin product. So I have to somehow count the matching products from all orders. How can I do this?
    Has anybody thought of a way how to select meaningful similar items to a product?

    You might also look at Oracle data Mining, though I haven't used it myself. From the documentation:

  • Apple Software Update App In Bootcamp...

    I ust recently installed Windows 7 on Bootcamp and whenerver I opened up the Apple Software Update App it just stops checking,
    Ex: Click on "Apple Software Update" App it loads then pop-up box comes up (To check) then goes away without loading/searching then it says, "New Updates Are Available..." but no updates or software are present in the app. Also had WinXP MCE 2005 before switching to Win7 and ran the app update and samething happened but didn't happen at all before that so... ya!! lol So is anyone else experiecing this also or is it just me?? lol

    Advanced Network: Proxy Settings, I uncheck "Auto Proxy detection" and make sure you have the interface you use selected and none others.
    "Go into System Preferences - Network - Advanced - Proxies  Uncheck "Auto Proxy Discovery", click OK, Apply"
    After Unchecking "Auto Proxy Discovery" I also had to Uncheck "Use Passive FTP Mode (PASV)" and then Restart Boot Camp Assistant.
    odiggy's comment and tried restarting Boot Camp Assistant. That did the trick, even though the Auto Proxy Discovery checkbox ended up the same as it started.  Windows support software is now downloading...  if you're downloading to an external drive make sure there's a least 1 GB of free space because the WindowsSupport folder is around 700 MB and presumably will grow with time.

    Also, Change Domain Name Servers to OpenDNS IP address servers - that should be at the router firewall rather than the OS but may be in both for some people. You may be using the defaults your ISP uses, save those if you want, and try these:
    208.67.222.222

    Make sure you are not using LittleSnitch or Symantec (probably other 3rd party firewall)

I did a clean new install of OS and added my appl ID, but app store doesn' allow to update apps. when it asks to insert my ID the space for the username is already filled with older owner's ID and there's no way to modify it.

    iWork has never come preinstalled on Macs. New Macs bought after 1 OCT 2013 qualify for a free download of the iWork apps.
    Macs have come with iLife for free for years. The iLife apps that came on that Mac were on a DVD if it is an older Mac that came with OS X Leopard or Snow Leopard and the original owner was supposed to give you the Install DVDs that came with the Mac. Or if it is a newer Mac that came with OS X Lion, Mt Lion or Mavericks, they iLife apps were Mac App Store versions and they are registered to the original owner, so you can't update them.

    You cannot transfer any purchases made using the old Apple ID to the new one. Either you repurchase them under the new Apple ID or see if Apple can transfer them for you.

    After reviewing your post, I located an article that can help with resetting your iCloud password:
    iCloud: Change your iCloud password
    Your iCloud password protects the privacy of the information (such as your email) stored in iCloud. Your password also protects your ability to locate or remotely erase your device using Find My iPhone. You should regularly change your iCloud password to protect your information. Your iCloud password is the password for the Apple IDyou use to sign in to iCloud.
    Important: If you use the same Apple ID for iCloud as you do with other Apple services such as the Apple Online Store, iTunes Store, App Store, or to purchase products in iPhoto or Aperture, changing your iCloud password also changes your password for these services. Make sure you sign in to those locations using your new password.
    Go to the My Apple ID website (appleid.apple.com) and follow the instructions to reset your Apple ID password.
    For more information, see the Apple Support article Apple ID: Changing your password.
    After changing your iCloud password, make sure you update it on all your devices and in any email apps you use to get your iCloud email.
