Apple script to connect VPN when out of office.

I need an applescript to connect a VPN when not connected to my work network. Please can someone help me. I've got the script for connecting the VPN, it is making it conditional on being out of the office I'm struggling with.

In order to answer your question you have to first determine how your machine knows whether you're in the office or not...
Once you answer that the rest is pretty easy, but the specifics for how to make that determination are largely down to your network configuration.
For example, some people might use their IP address as the determining factor - assuming the office network uses a preset range of IP addresses that don't conflict with outside locations.
Others might rely on the network name (assuming you're using wireless).
Others might use wired connections at the office but wireless when outside.
Or maybe you use different network configurations for office and outside.
The list goes on...

I'm trying to make mail app remind me to choose the right emaill address to send from since I have several email addresses. Is there a way I can make or write an apple script for a message box to pop up whenever mail app's compose window opens up.
I can do for the case when I actally click the compose button when I'm on mail app by using UI scripting. But when it comes to hyperlinks which opens up the compose window, it fails.
I just want a script to see whether the compose window is open and if open pop up a message box.

I think yes. The encoding is being corrupted somewhere, probably Exchange. There is nothing you can change on the iPad other than the OS languagel, to see if that helps. You can also tell Apple at

Connecting wirelessly when out and about

Forgive my ignorance I am very new to all this. If I am out and about with my iBook and come across a place e.g. coffee shop, which has free wireless internet access, do I have to be a paying subscriber of that service in order to get on the net? Would Airport be the way I would connect? Will it ask me a password or something?
Do they have such wireless access at the Apple Store Regent Street and if so which provider do they use?

That would depend on the network your joining. For example if your walking down Tottenham Court Road and click on your airport icon you may see half a dozen wifi network available to you.

You may pick up private networks.
Any way if you choose from the list t-mobile it lets you join then network but the first tine you open your web browser it redirects you to a page where you have to enter your membership details or use a credit card to purchase 1 hour of internet time.
If you choose a private network from the list you may be prompted to enter a wep key or wpa password.
If however you join an open network you may be able to surf the net without entering a password. You can get fre internet in the cafe above foyles bookshop on charing X road.

The wifi in the apple store is free and is provided by apple I am not sure which ISP they use. It does not really matter. You can sit in there and use the internet.

Outlook 2013 asks for credentials but does not connect for Exchange email, but only when out of office

Hi,
New employee wishes to use his Office 365. Have loaded onto new PC, connected to exchange, loaded his folders, everything is fine.
When he leaves the office and connects at home, he is asked for credentials.
I have tried the usual credentials: [email protected] and domain\user
With each attempt, Outlook displays disconnected
The password is correct, OWA he can log on fine, he has no problem when returning to the office. He has all the correct permissions in AD.
No other user has a problem when away from the office, but every other user is using Office 2010
Advice appreciated.

Can not send email from corporate account when out of office

I have a 3G+wifi ipad, my sending via corp email works when I'm in the office (connected via wifi) but doesn't send when I'm on 3G and other wifi network (my home wifi). When I send from the other locations I can send from yahoo account only. I have tried to change the server port a couple of times but still no luck. Anyone has any idea how solve this problem?

I am still having some of the problems the guy who can't get corporate emails has.
You have already read my thread. Yesterday was a good day, I got every single email I received on my iPhone and main Mac computer on my iPad.
I powered the Pad down last night, turned it on this morning and only got 2 of the 4 I was sent during the night, 2 of them being from my US HO but yesterday I got emails from my US HO on my iPad early in the evening.
I have learnt that ntl world emails cannot be received with 'Push' so that cancels out that being anything to do with it.
There is only one difference in my settings so don't know if this is making any difference:-
On my iPad the smtp authentication is MD5 Challenge-Response.
On my iPhone the authentication is Password, I have tried changing it but it won't let me. Can't think that this is the problem as this is on the Outgoing Server of which I have no problems.
Another odd thing is that when I got my iPhone last year I synched the account settings through iTunes. I did this 3 weeks ago when I got my iPad. I then unselected synching the accounts in iTunes when the Pad was connected as I wanted to set them up manually. Now I cannot access this part of iTunes for the phone or pad, it's ticked but greyed out and doesn't show any of my 4 accounts.
One of the main reasons I bought a Pad is to do emails on it as I find the iPhone a little small to use all day. I am gutted that the Pad is not getting all mails and can't trust it.
Could it be that when I power down it affects the settings as that's the only thing different I did yesterday. I will keep the pad on all day and night but this should not be the problem can it? Don;t want to waste power having it on all evening.

Syncing to diff comp when out of office

I have a complex database program that runs my office (runs on Microsoft SQL); and I sync its calendars and contacts with Microsoft Outlook; and I sync Outlook with my iPhone (iOS 7) via iTunes. It all works out perfectly. But it's based on one desktop computer.
I'll be leaving the office for several days, during which it is very likely that I will develop new contacts or calendar entries. The laptop I'll have with me has a replicated (remote) version of the SQL database, plus also Outlook and iTunes. Whatever new entries get into the remote SQL database will be preserved when I sync it with my desktop. Meanwhile, though, I'm concerned about how to deal with new events or contacts that go into my phone. The obvious easy and safe way is to just manually transfer them to the remote SQL installation; but that would require actually remembering which entries are new and need transferring.
Is it correct that there is no way to arrange syncing through iTunes (into Outlook) on the laptop without screwing up the (more important) sync on the desktop? If I'm incorrect about that, what is the best way to go?
Btw, the reason I'm not using iCloud is because it doesn't back everything up, and you can't back up to both iCloud and also a desktop iTunes. But I suppose I could back up to iCloud just for the time I'm on the road.... Would that be the answer?

Extra monitor w/laptop in office, when out of office how do I prevent Firefox from displaying on the non-existant 2nd screen?

When I am out of my office using my laptop, upon launching Firefox, it displays all of the tabs from the previous session on the non-existent extra monitor which is set up as a screen extention for when I am in my office. All of the other programs that I park on the extra monitor (Outlook for example) display on the laptop's screen when the extra monitor is not attached. Is this a bug? Or, must I not save my open tabs when exiting Firefox if I am going to use the laptop w/o the monitor?

Thanks for your suggestion. I sort of came to that conclusion as I was typing the original question. However if there is anyone out there who has a solution that is not dependent on my remembering to do something before I exit Firefox, it will be welcomed.

Reports are not run when connect VPN

I have installed Oracle Forms & Report Services (Standalone) on windowXP (SP-3). My problem is:-
1) After restart OS i connect VPN when VPN is properly connected i run my application. Forms run properly but when i want to run report it shows error 'rep-51002: Bind to report server rep_localhost_bs_appsrv failed'.
2) After restart OS i did not connect VPN and then run reports its running properly and not showing any error.
I want the solution of 1st case. Please help me urgent.

You need to put the IP address in the hosts file.
Also verify if your Default Gateway at networking level is configured for the NIC. The Default Gateway information could be displayed executing 'netstat -anr'.
Also check the network through nslookup.
Is http service is running?
How many network adapters are there?
Has IP address changed?
What's your operating system?
Also don't say urgent in your questions, because urgent questions are answered by the paid support.

HELP : APPLE SCRIPT ISSUES!

I am trying to make an apple script that will detect when an application (minecraft,cod or other online downloaded software/games) is open and then bring up a dialog that wont go away so that only I.T. can remove it. I also want it to send an email to a certain adress saying that so and so has been playing games
It's a school project that im working on, we have to figure out a way (through applescript) to help students be more productive, everyone else has no experience with apple script but me. I managed to create this in a couple of minutes but there is a couple glitches and problems i cant solve.
the problems include
it doesn't work with non-appstore apps ie. apps downloaded for the internet
i want it to be able to detect numerous programs
it doesn't close the program and/or bring the window/dialog to the top.
I have used safari as an example as to where a list of "illeagle apps" should be.

firstly i am not trying to "cheat" the system by asking for help, our teacher encourges us to go online , reserch and go onto forums such as these.
Secoundly , I dont need you to criticize my idea's by telling me that i am a "taddle tale" or whatever
Thirdly , it's called updating over wifi. Thats how I intend on updating the blacklist to new games
Finally it will encourage student productivity, as without games there will be no distractions. Internet games and such are blocked and I plan to keep my identity, as the creator of the script , a secret
And also, here's a bit of criticism maybe you would be a better educationalist yourself if you actually encouraged a project.

When you change your Apple ID Password does it log out all the connected accounts?

You will need to logout of the account on all clients after changing the password, then login with the new one.

Thanks for the swift reply, I have been looking online and a loose plug seems to be somewhat of an issue with many, I hope mine is actually a problem and not what others are experiencing. It's taken me this long to even reach out for the simple fact I HATE being a complainer but this is just horrible.

Removing BCC with Apple Script when automatically BCC myself is set in pref

I have "Automatically Bcc myself" set in the Mail Composing preferences, which I like because I get a copy of email that I send. I also have an apple script that forwards messages to an email address. When I used this apple script on Tiger, the BCC option was never added (it might have been a bug with Mail in Tiger); however, now on Leopard, the BCC option is always added when I used the apple script.
I've tried setting the BCC field to Null and Blank, but that doesn't seem to work. I suspect that the field is set upon send or the "make new" directive. Does anyone know a way to tell Mail to not Bcc automatically in an Apple Script?

One of the responses said that you can add the lines:
delete bcc recipients
delete cc recipients
"in that order" to the new message tell and get rid of the recipients. I had tried the delete before, but I thought I had to get the recipients before I deleted them. I'm not a very good apple script person. Here is my final script
