APPLE SELLING USED MACHINES AS NEW???

I have a supposedly new MacBookPro. funny thing is when I click "Networks" in "Finder" there's a ton of suspect network names and settings that lead me to belive this NEW computer is actually SECOND hand!!???? There are at least 8 work groups and MANY names listed under "My Network". The really irritating part is i DO NOT HAVE PERMISSION to delete these items. So my question is simple. Is Apple selling used equiptement as new? I spent a ton of money on my new MacBook only to find there are previous users settings installed that I do not thave the right to change?? Anyone elese come accross this? This is very discouranging. I have owned several PC's I love the new Mac but Mac's cost a ton. If I am going to pay a premium I expect a premium product.

I think you are over-reacting over what is most likely a misconception on your part.
If you do feel like it is "used" and may be have a bit more evidence, why don't you take your complaint to either apple Web sales or the apple store in which you purchased it?
That way, they can provide a reasonable explanation as to why you are having this problem.
But then after re-reading your post:
Or maybe then again, you have joined a network on a wireless router and you are merely seeing all of the other networks.
Networks are a function of your internet connection... so don't get annoyed at apple that you're seeing (most likely) other users on your network, or other "network neighborhoods" as they called it on your PC.
Regardless, I think you need to calm down a bit. I think you are overreacting over a feature you haven't seen before.
Lose attitude, relax, and someone will provide you with an answer. Like I said, I'm sure there is an explanation for this, though the more and more I think about it, you are overreacting over your internet network (the people on your router, or the router you're sharing).
Based on your inability to delete them, chances are these are networks you stumbled upon and are NOT evidence that someone else was using your computer.

  • False Advertising: Selling Used Tablet as New and Personal Information to the Public

So last week I purchased an LG G Pad 7.0 for my wife. It was on sale for $126.99. I purchased this tablet as I bought one for myself months back and have been very happy with it. This past Monday it was delivered. My wife called me at work and told me it arrived. I told her that she should open it up and plug it in as most manufacturers say you should give it a full charge before use. I told her that I would get her started on it when I came home.
Later that evening, I came home and checked to make sure it had a full charge. It did. I then powered up the tablet only to find a message on the lock screen saying, "Contact 865-XXX-XXXX if you find this". Immediately I was puzzled. When I first bought my tablet, it took me through a basic set up of the tablet. Not to a lock screen. I then opened the tablet up to the home screen. Numerous user downloaded apps were installed on the tablet. Ebay, Amazon, Yahoo mail, Home Depot, Holy Bible, etc. After paging through the tablet for a few minutes it was clear that this tablet belonged to someone prior to me purchasing it.
I'm assuming that "Jeffrey XXXXXX" purchased this tablet and returned it for whatever reason. Needless to say, if I were ever to return a tablet that had personal information on it, I would make sure I did a factory reset on it and make sure all my personal data was removed before returning it. Not to mention if I was the business that planned on reselling this tablet, I would make sure all devices were "clean" of any personal information prior to reselling it to avoid liability issues. This tablet not only has personal information on it but also has this man's private business information on it. The "Quick Start Guide" also has sensitive info written on the back of it.
Now I purchased this item as "NEW". Not used, not refurbished, not from a "Marketplace" seller. From BestBuy.com themselves. Not at any given point did it state that it was used. In fact, after I realized it was used, I went back to BestBuy.com to see if any changes were made. NONE. I took screenshots of the page. Now it did have options to buy it as "Open-Box" for $117.99 but I never selected it. I then checked my paper invoice and my order details online. Not anywhere was it listed as some type of used product.
This is now the second time in about a month that I have had issues with BestBuy.com. See below link:
    http://forums.bestbuy.com/t5/Delivery-Installation/Won-t-Deliver-Front-Loading-Washing-Machine-But-I...
I have spent about $2000 in the past few months at Best Buy. And apperently they want me to take my money elsewhere. I expect to get the new tablet that I purchased and would appreciate a response as soon as possible.

    Dear User123727,
I find a lot of joy in opening a new product; breaking the seals on the box, taking the protective plastic off the screen and seeing the first setup screen. If I had been in your situation, I am sure I would have shared your distaste in discovering the tablet was previously used. I am sorry for any inconvenience and doubt your recent experiences have caused you.
Using your email address you provided here on the forums, I was able to pull up the order in question. It appears this item shipped from one of our stores. There is a chance all the steps were not followed if this item was previously returned to that store location and was later shipped to you. When a customer returns any product, a thorough inspection should be done by the Best Buy associate that is performing the return transaction. They should be checking for things like accessories, physical condition and functionality, to name a few. However, if the packaging appeared to be sealed and unopened, an employee would not typically open the product as it would then have to be sold as such. Even if you had purchased an open item version of this particular tablet, it still should have been tested, reset by to the default factory settings, and wiped of any existing data before being resold.
In an effort to look into this situation for you more, I have sent you a private message to acquire some more information from you.
    Sincerely,

  • Change apple-id, use ipod with new apple-id

    Hello,
my daugthers's "IPod touch" was the first apple device in the family. To be able to use it I created an Apple-ID with my personal data.
Now I bought an "IPad 2" at an Apple-Shop. The sales assisant helped me with the setup an we used the same Apple-ID as I already used with the IPod. But now i noticed that it was a mistake.
It would be better that my daughter's IPod uses it's own Apple-ID. Is it possible to change the ID for the IPod? What do I have to do?
    Thanks for your answers.

What will happen to the apps she already bought with the "first ID".
Absolutely nothing.  They will continue to function just fine.
    pomatt wrote:
Do I have to back up the IPod with ITunes an the "old" ID? Then change the ID on the IPod? ...? Or what ...?
No.  A single backup takes care of all apps.
    pomatt wrote:
I think that she won't be very amused if she looses her apps.
In the event that a real disaster occurs and the backup is lost, the apps can be downloaded again at no charge.  However, you MUST use the same ID that was used for the original purchase.  Log out and back in again.
    pomatt wrote:
For buying apps she uses appstore-cards. There is still credit available. Any chance to transfer it to the new ID?
The credits stay with the ID.  They can not be transferred.
App updates can be done from either iTunes OR from the iPod and the next sync will transfer the update to the other device.  However, if you do it from iTunes, you must log out of one ID and into the other to for the updates of the "old" apps.  Then, when finished, log out/in again.  If you update from the iPod, you don't have to log out/in.  The iPod identifies the appropriate ID and, of course, asks for the password.
In case you're wondering, I ended up with two IDs by accident.

You need to create a user account for your wife (or yourself depending on who has the current user account). When syncing, each of you should sign in as a separate user, login to iTunes and then sync. I had this problem when my sister got an iPhone. When we did her initial sync, everything on my iPhone showed up on hers. Apple gave me this solution.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
You can change the Apple ID without any problem. On his device, go to Settings > iCloud > Delete account and login with his Apple ID so he'll get his information. iCloud needs an Apple ID, so if he hasn't got one, he must create an Apple ID > http://appleid.apple.com
When you delete the iCloud account, all the information will be deleted, so I recommend you to turn off each service before deleting iCloud

  • Using the same external drive with Time Machine on new mac?

I recently got a new mac because my old one broke. Thankfully, I had a fresh backup on Time Machine ready to restore onto my new computer. But when I try to use Time Machine with my new computer, it keeps wanting to do a whole new backup. It won't recognize the latest backup to only add new or changed files.
Here's a breakdown of my events:
    new computer
restore Time Machine on new computer at install
want to continue using the external drive with Time Machine from where I left off (only adding new files since the last backup) on my new computer
Time Machine wants to do a whole new backup
Question: How can I continue to use my existing external hard drive with Time Machine on my new computer, picking up where I left off (not a new, complete backup)?
My old computer was Snow Lepoard, my new one is Lion.

That should have left a "trail" in your SystemMigration log, so Time Machine can figure out what happened and automatically "inherit" the old backups.  But sometimes, obviously, that doesn't work.
Since it didn't, there's a chance you can do it manually.  See #B6 in Time Machine - Troubleshooting.

I have a company Ipad that belonged to a deceased employee. no access to his icloud or appleID. how can I restore it for use with a new apple ID?
The apple ID was his personal account and can no longer gain access. Im sure I can get purchase recipts from the accounting department if needed. I tried to put the Ipad in restore mode and used itunes to "recover" the ipad but it still wont let me in because he registered the device with the "lost iphone" feature or whatever that is.

  • If I completely fill my hard drive 500Gb how time machine will keep working having 1Tb of total space, I mean I have to delete mu hard drive but how I keep my previous information on time machine and keep using to with new information?

If I completely fill my hard drive 500Gb how time machine will keep working having 1Tb of total space [externak hard drive], I mean I have to delete my hard drive but how I keep my previous information on time machine and keep using it with new information?

Time Machine does not provide archival storage.
If you delete a file from your disk it will eventually be deleted from your TM backup without any notice to you.
You need a second external disk to use for archival storage.
You also need a third disk for backups of the second disk.

    Content and Apple IDs -
Content is forever tied to the Apple ID that bought it. Apple does not transfer content from one Apple Id to another. Apple does not merge Apple IDs. You will never be able to access your content bought with another Apple ID with a new ID.
