Apple sent me a refurbished phone that is locked to an unknown carrier. Help!?
My phone was damaged. Apple sent me a refurbished phone. My carrier told me the phone was no longer locked to them. But the phone is still locked. How do I find out whom it is locked to?
Its not refurbished. Its reconditioned less than 30% of the phone is made from reuseable parts. Casing, Battery is all brand new.

ThanksWell, how did you contact Apple in the first place when you had a problem with your phone? Try contacting Apple like this again. However, it is pointless contacting Apple in this case because Apple CANNOT unlock your phone for you. Only Virgin mobile in Australia will be able to unlock the phone for you, so it is them that you need to contact to get the phone unlocked. Only a phone company/carrier can unlock a phone for you.
The only other thing that you can do is complain to Apple that you purchased an unlocked iPhone and they sent you a locked one as a replacement and ask them to send you another unlocked phone as a replacement. In that case, how did you contact Apple then? Use the same method again - it really is not that hard if you have internet access which you seem to have as you have posted on this forum. -

You only think you bought it not locked. It is locked to a carrier. Where did you buy it? The only legitimate place to buy an unlocked iPhone is directly from Apple. No other source is authorized to sell unlocked phones.

You cannot delete Apple ID. You can change the password so the Apple ID without the correct password will be useless for others.
If you still have the old iPhone:
Wipe iPhone/iPad/iPod touch clean
There are a few steps to do:
Switch off iMessage in Settings > Messages
Switch off FaceTime in Settings > FaceTime (iPod touch 4th Generation or later, iPhone 4 or later and iPad 2 or later)
Delete iCloud in Settings > iCloud > Delete Account
Finally Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.
If device is registered: Un-register your device: https://supportprofile.apple.com
Now you can sell/give.

Need help getting music purchased with one apple id to my new phone that has a new apple id
I used to have an ipod nano under one apple id. I stopped using the nano and let my daughter use that apple id when she purchased an ipod touch. I recently got an iphone and would like my music library on my phone. I created a new apple id for my phone because when I used the old one one the phone it created problems with my daughter's ipod touch. Is there any way to get my music onto my phone without making my daughter create a new id and taking back my old one. . . like opening up itunes and saving the music files to my computer's hard drive and then somehow importing them to my phone? I'm grasping at straws here. Any ideas are appreciated.

I saved the itunes music library (which contained all of the songs from my nano/old apple id) from my daughter's computer to a thumb drive and plugged it into my computer. I opened up the thumb drive on my computer. I dragged the music library located in the thumb drive to the itunes icon on my desktop. I logged into itunes on my computer under my new apple id. The songs showed up in the itunes library but not on the list of music or purchases located underneath my device name. When I clicked on my device name to try and sync the music, my device name disappeared. So I re-plugged in my device/phone and instead of clicking on the device name, I used shift and down arrow to highlight all of the songs in the music library and then I used my mouse to drag the blue highlighted area over to the word "music" located under my device name. They immediately started syncing with my phone I doublechecked my phone and they are all there!

I contacted my service provider and they told me to codec my iPhone to iTines on a computer, and follow the direction to set my hone back to the factory settings, I have nothing on it yet so I tried this, the iTunes Icon comes up with a lock under it. The phone vibrates part way through the process and still won't unlock. Now what do I do?
Sorry I didn't mean to hit the other button! But I did that suggestion three different times yesterday and it didn't seem to work! Still locked out of my phone! And when I turned it on just now it did the same thing, ( vibrated and wouldn't unlock)! Only this time it told me to connect to iTunes! But last night when I did this iTunes had a lock on it!

How to unlock a phone that is locked to a user account after reset?
I’m writing with an inquiry about the new OS7 upgrades and user account new security.
We began to receive iPhones 4, 4s and 5 back from our former employees and no longer able to sign back into the phones after a reset.
I believe that in order to use any iPhone you needed an existing or new account.
With the older software we were able to reset a phone through iTunes to default then reassign it to another employee.
Since the changes to OS7 after a reset it won’t let us sign in with a any other account expect for the old one that was authorized for a former employee.
I understand the security concern but in business field this solution does not work since these good phones became no longer usable.
Please provide a solution on how to bypass the startup screen by creating a new user profile when a phone is reset to factory and connected to wifi or iTunes.
I believe that the sign in to iTunes should not be mandatory, only for those who like to keep their phone secured as an extra alternative to the password.
Secondly, older types of iPhones had defective power button I’m still seeking answer as to why there is no recall for this repair?
Hope to hear back from you soon.That's called activation lock. You can not bypass it. IF you can provide Apple with proof of ownership for the phones, they may be able to help you.
Going forward, the best approach is strong policies regarding the return of company owned equipment in working order. Activation locked does not constitute "in working order".

No - if you're being asked for an Apple ID that is not your own, there is no way to use the phone. That's Activation Lock, which will remain active unless the original owner of the phone releases it.
Return the phone if you can - it's nothing more than a paperweight to you.

64gb white at&tIt could be either one. The warranty, I believe, says that it could be either. All of the replacement stock comes in plain, not for retail packaging. You'll never know. And, you'll never be able to tell.

My iPhone will not send an iMessage. It sends everything as SMS. I have ensured that my Apple ID is signed in and that my phone number is enabled for use in both FaceTime and iMessage
I had the same problem. I went in and added my email address to iMessage and deleted the text to my friends that have iPhones and sent another to test it and it worked. Only thing is now my non iPhone friends don't receive my pic text. I had to turn off iMessage for it to work. Apple needs to fix this ASAP!

Depends on how long your phone is in Airplane mode, and your carrier's policies. Any iMessages sent to you are only kept on Apple's servers for 24hrs, then deleted. Most carrier's have similar polices regarding SMS's, but they vary, carrier-to-carrier as to how long SMS's are kept before deletion.

Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
