Two days ago, I left my New iPad on a plane. My bad, I know. However, whoever sat in the seat after me, helped themselves to a brand new iPad and did not turn it in to the airline. So far, Find My iPad has been no help. The device appears offline. I feel fairly sure that whoever took it has at least turned it on. I've sent messages but no one has called. I've also done a simple search to see how difficult it would be for someone to reset the device to factory and there are plenty of websites giving instructions on how to do that. At any rate, I registered my device with Apple, which includes the serial number of the device. If Apple had a registry where I could list it as stolen, when the culprit attempts to register the device, Apple would flag it as stolen and perhaps it could be recovered. I appreciate the "Fine My iPad/iPhone" app for when I misplace one of them in my own home or office, but in this case, it was no help at all. I only had my new iPad for about a month and now it's gone. I will buy a new iPad because I love it and really use it alot, but I'll be afraid to take it anywhere. What's the point of having a mobile device if you are afraid to take it anywhere?

Doubtful. PC games use a different operating system so they're not compatible. Your game manufacturers would h ave to make app versions of their games, so the burden is on them to be compatible with Apple, not for Apple to alter their OS to work with games.

No Siri yet until iOS 6 in the fall .... but you can use dication for now.
in Settings>General>Keyboard>Dictation>On. If that is set up in the settings you should see a microphone key next to the left side of the space bar. Tap that and start speaking. Tap the key again when you are some.

I tried to listen to my music from my headphones and when I plugged the headphones into the jack, and pressed play, the music came out through the speakers. I don't know why that happened but I've never been able to get sound through my headphones.

My i pod touch was stolen about a week ago. Ive been looking for ways to find it and its been pretty hopless. I have owned 7 i pods in the last 5 years and they have all been stolen, I guess you could say im pretty unresponsiblle but I prefer to call it unfortunate. There should be some type of website where you can just type the serial # of your i pod and it could use google maps or something the track it down. I mean what age are we in, I'm sure if cars can drive them selves there should be no problem to construct an i pod traking app. I dont thing lawsuits are a good excuse either. Apple provides the Find My feature through iCloud for those that want to take advantage of it. But to go further would most likely create invasion of privacy issues and raise legal concerns for Apple. Only police have the statory authority to track and that requires court orders. This comes up repeatedly when users loose objects, but Apple continues to say they do not track or attempt to find the lost objects.

when you restart the machine, make sure you uncheck the "reopen windows" check box, and see if that helps.

Several points here:
1. Although there is some compatibility between Numbers and Excel files, I doubt very much that "the idea of Numbers is to make it like Excel." The two applications share some similarities, but also have several differences.
2. Your Question is unanswerable in this forum. Apple does not generally reveal future development plans or schedules for its applications, and anyone with knowledge of those plans will be bound by a non-disclosure agreement.
3. "You need to" implies a feature request. If you want to request that a feature be added to a future version of Numbers, that request is better made directly to Apple, via the Feedback channel, than here, where the readers and responders are all users of the software, not developers. From the application menu (the "Numbers" menu in Numbers), choose Provide Numbers Feedback, then make your request for a feature to be added to Numbers.
Meantime, if you absolutely need the macros capabilities of MS Excel, try one of the Office clones—OpenOffice.org, LibreOffice, or NeoOffice, which may offer macro support, or use the Mac version of Excel itself.

Have always loved apple but this is the worst experience i have with the MacBook Air and its not even 1.5yr old.

There are two ways to upgrade to Lion - one is to install Lion overtop of the existing Snow Leopard and the other is to erase the hard drive, install Lion, and then migrate your applications and user accounts. This second option takes a good deal longer than the first so the preferred method for most is the first method and in most cases it works fine. But not in all.
captfred has told you what I'd start out doing if it were my computer. There's a good chance that you can identify an application or plug-in that's causing the problem. Upgrading the involved item(s) can solve the problem. Of all the Lion upgrades I performed I had a couple that weren't completely successful even though I'd looked for programs and plug-ins that needed upgrading first. I missed a few but I found them after the fact and had happy computers.
There was one computer that still had problems. With this computer I reinstalled Lion right over the old version. (If you didn't keep a copy you'll need to download it first.) I still wasn't satisfied so with that computer I rebooted into the recovery partition (Command R after restarting) formatted the hard drive, installed Lion and then migrated. That did solve the problem.

Great question. The line access fees for the account are a set amount and can not be changed unless you are going from a basic to a smartphone or vice versa. Why touch and swivel screens arent a good idea on a laptop:
The so-called Gorilla arm: Gorilla arm is a term describing the tired arms users get after reaching out and touching a screen for a long time.
Added thickness: Touch screen panels are usually thicker than non-touch ones—especially if the touch panel has an active digitizer for pen support.
Possibly shorter battery life: Touch screens require more power. Laptop Magazine compared a couple of touch screen laptops with their non-touch counterparts (same model and size) and found that the non-touch laptops lasted over an hour longer.
Easy to break: Swivel screens are notoriously prone to break, especially the hinge and the cable that feeds the screen from the logic board which is being constantly twisted.
And thats what the Ipad is for.

The most likely cause is a problem with Java on your system - older and/or messed up Java installations seems to cause this issue sometimes.
To fix:
Step 1: Try installing latest Java version. Check your Firefox/system browser plugins from this page, and install latest version: [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/ Mozilla Plugin Check Page] (also works for most other browsers)
If latest Java (currently "Java(TM) Platform SE 6 U20 - Next Generation Java Plug-in 1.6.0_20 for Mozilla browsers") does not fix the problem, you may have more versions installed on your system causing problems for each other. This leads us to -
Step 2: Uninstall those you can from Control Panel -> Add/Remove programs. If you ''still'' get this error, you may have Norton or another security program which can also in some cases cause this issue. That takes us to:

I have an old powerPC G4. dual 867 512 MB. my optical drive is having trouble reading my leopard installer. I was going to try to use remote install but i don't have a network where I can connect both the mac and the windows laptop. any suggestions?

I'm just trying to revive my old PowerPC G4/ dual 867MHz 512MB. Unfortunately I am unable to install from disc since my optical drive, although still working, is somehow not able to read the leopard installer. I wanted to try the remote install option but have limited resources and don't have a network where I can have both the Mac desktop and windows laptop communicate. I read somewhere that I can use a crossover cable to connect the two directly. I'm still trying to see if I can get an external DVD-ROM as another option. Any suggestions?
