Apple Sleep greyed out permanentl

I recently typed this into the terminal because I had trouble with my external display going to sleep when I shut the lid on my MacBook:
sudo pmset -a disablesleep 1
I did this in response to the following article:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1191?viewlocale=en_US
I shut the lid on my laptop and opened it again and my screen went blue there was no way to get it back to normal so I ended up having to restart my computer. What I want to know is if there is anyway I can restore my computer back to the way it was before I typed in this command (in other words--'ungrey' the apple>sleep choice.
P.S. I don't have my external hard drive setup to use time machine properly so I can't go that route.

Move the file /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/com.apple.PowerManagement.plist to another location and restart the computer.

  • Apple ID greyed out in app store & can't edit

The apple ID on my iMac is greyed out, and I can't change it because my only option is to cancel or sign in.  How do I edit the Apple ID so the correct one populates in the app store?  Itunes works fine, if that matters.

  • Apple ID greyed out in Settings-how to change?

My grandaughter got a new iPod Touch.  She is using her mother's apple id but wants to change to one of her own.  The iPod is already set up with mother's id, and the id is greyed out in Settings.  How can she change the id to her own?

Appears that the Restriction that prevents changing accounts is set. Go to Settings>General>Restrictions. Restrictions is passcode protected
    Forgotten RESTRICTIONS Passcode
    - Restore from a backup that was make before you added the Restrictions passcode. If you restore from a backup made with the Restrictions passcode the Restrictions passcode is also restored.
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.

  • Apple id greyed out in itunes

my apple id is greyed out in itunes on my ipad I noticed this when an app I was trying to download kept saying "waiting" ....I cannot update my apps either as they say waiting.  I can get in my account on itunes on my computer.  This is all since the new os .....I would also like to stop these apps now but can't find a place to do it.

I have the EXACT same problem since the OS update.   The TV apps I use a LOT tried to update, but are now permanently  stuck on 'waiting.   I cannot use them.  I cannot even delete them, or try to re install.   I have two new apps (which have never fully installed, and now I want to delete)  stuck on 'installing' too.  I cannot delete them, because when you press the icon to make it wiggle, no cross appears. They will not delete in iTunes. And I cannot sign out and re sign in, as my Apple ID is greyed out.
    Please, someone help!!

  • Add account in Apple Mail greyed out

After migration to Yosemite I imported added my accounts and imported my mailboxes in Apple Mail. This seemed to work fine.
Now I want to add another mail account in Apple Mail (preferences -> accounts) and I cannot click the + (plus) as it is greyed out.
I then added the account through system settings and it appeared in Mail.
After a while (about an hour of inactivity) this account disappears from both Mail and system preferences.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

Found this and trying it myself . . . https://discussions.apple.com/message/23992956#23992956. Sounds plausible but it is a work around. Apple should look into it . . .

  • Enrolled Macs' "Sleep" option is greyed out

    Hello,
As soon as a Mac is enrolled into our OS X Server it becomes unable to "Sleep." The Sleep option under the Apple menu is greyed out and even closing the lid will not put the Mac to sleep. This has been a big issue because it is killing our machines' battery life.
There are no management settings enabled for any of the Macs, under Profile Manager and they are not in any device groups. There are also no management settings enable for the users of the machines nor are the users in any groups. As soon as they are enrolled, the Sleep option is greyed out and nothing will allow them to sleep.
This was happening with the Server version right before Version 4. We updated hoping Version 4 would resolve this issue but it did not. All help is greatly appreciated!
    OS X Server Version 4 (14S333)
Mac Mini Server purchased in mid 2014
    2.6ghz Quad Core i7 Processor
    16gb of RAM

It appears Apple needs to fix a problem with the "Login Window" Payload in Profile Manager.
To enable sleep on a mac until the settings are pushed out again use terminal and enter the following:
    sudo pmset -a disablesleep 0
You will also need to do this if you remove the "Login Window" Payload from the settings you push out, since the mac won't revert to the working settings.
I notified Apple about this thread.
PS I was able to manually change the config profile (downloaded from Profile Manager) with text editor to get it working the way I wanted, but I only have one client computer. If you do this, there were 2 entries. I found them by searching the config for "sleep". Change the entries from true to false. You can then install the modified settings profile.

  • All drum loops in LE 8 are greyed out and Apple loops utility 'can't be installed'

    Hi
I installed Logic Express 8 and have loads of loops missing, especially the drum loops.
Even the Apple loops utility is giving me problems. It looks like the Apple loops utility was installed (because I have the icon for it now), but everything inside that utility is greyed out. When I try to re-install it, i get the error message 'Apple Loops Utility can’t be installed on this computer. The specified message could not be found for the index 0.'
    I have a new MAC Mini OS X 10.6.7
    Help would be appreciated.
UPDATE: I have looked through other related discussions here but could not find the naswer.
I also just checked in /Library/Audio/Apple Loops/User Loops to see if the files are  there and of course they are not.
In fact, funnily enough, there are 0 files in the apple loops (although I do have plenty of loops that do play in LE8, just not the drum loops), which is strange. Where are all the files?????
I also found the following interesting point in the discussions here:
'The standard installation doesn't install all the loops. You'll have to do a custom installation and check the GB extras.'
The problem is that I am never given any option to do a custom installation when I install. It only offers the normal installation mode.

    Hi,
    1. On the newer Macs, iLife 11 or so, only a part of the loops is being installed, and the other part must be downloaded via software update. GB will tell you so if you select a greyed out loop.
    2. Loops should all be in "(your HD)/library/audio/apple loops/apple", not in the user library.
    3. If you find the loops are installed there but aren't shown in LE or in GB, you might want to re-index the loops.
    4. If loops are still missing after re-indexing, drag the loops folder straight above your loop browser and drop them there - this should add the missing loops.

  • Apple loops are greyed out

okay first off, if you try to give me a link to other FAQs it will not help as i have searched them already, only to find that they have helped me not in the least...
    here is my problem
    1. i make a new project 2. i go to the show loops in browser 3. when i go to the browser where the loops are they are there but greyed out 4. when i try to click on them it says "The Software instrument or Apple Loop selected is not currenlty installed on your computer. Would you like to install the complete set of GarageBand instruments and loops?" 5. i click yes to download now 6. it check for updates and then says your software is up to date 7. i try again and still the loops are greyed out.
at this point i am extremely mad and decided to look online for help
i followed some FAQs and decided to locate my loops folder which low and behold
EXISTS!! i decide to play the loops in quicktime and turns out they are working fine all 501 of them.
So why the DARN doesnt garageband recognize that these loops are installed and on mymac?

Its not in the Logic download from the app store, I'm afraid, this is a similar discussion that you may find helpful - bit of a muddle in communications, perhaps, but, anyway you can get Apple Loops Utility if you really need it -

  • Greyed out options on Apple loops on GarageBand ipod 5

i have some greyed out catagories for Apple loops in GarageBand, and I see that i can get some additional stuff free under in app purchases in the App Store, though I have no idea to get to it. How can I get the other loops?

I had a similar problem with songs greyed out and not syncing and apps not syncing either. I also tried multiple restarts and redownloading iOS5 etc. The one thing which seems to have sorted it out for me is buying a (free) app from the app store on my iphone and then syncing with itunes. Oddly enough this seems to have woken itunes up to the fact that stuff wasn't synced and started the process of a full sync.
A bit random and i read this on another thread, but it worked for me.

Dear apple, I am really dissapointed with you. Around January 2013, my iPhone 4s 16GB White has hardware issues, which was the Wi-Fi grey out. The wifi grey out means that I can't access the wifi on/off button, and also it has no connection. I have put up with it for months, until june 7 when I decided it has been long enough, and I got a replacement. I told the genius bar what happened, and I already did the so called "steps" that apple reccommended on the site, which was reset network settings, restore iPhone. The genius bar gave me a replacement phone, so I was expecting that the problem would be over, but it isn't. It seems that it's iOS 6.1.3 which is the case of most public complaints on apple iPhone products. Not even 3 weeks after I got the phone replaced, it is doing it again, so I suspect I'm just going to get a replacement again? Unfortunately I only have until 5th of july 2013 until my 1 year warranty is up. After that, any issue I have, I have to purchase apple care. People are expecting this problem to be fixed but I don't see it being solved any time soon. This is horrible and really low, because I have been a good customer, when I talk to the people at the genius bar, I show the utmost respect I can to them for the work they put into their job, but somewhere there is a problem where something has gone wrong. Because of that, people that only have a one year warranty (which i received because I purchased my apple iPhone at an Optus outlet, once that one year warranty is up, I have to pay for a problem that isn't even my fault? That isn't how it should work, you should be fixing this problem so people can be happy customers and leave happy. Obviously you don't all know how to do your jobs, because if you did, we wouldn't have this problem. I would like a replacement phone, ONCE AGAIN. If this problem occurs again, I will simply stop buying your products, and lose faith in your company, your's sincerely, Jack Maher.

This is a user to user help forum only. You are not addressing Apple here.
My iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, and iPad 2 are running 6.1.3 with no such problem and the same with the overwhelming majority of iOS devices running 6.1.3.
