Apple Store arrival time...

I reserved my phone at MacAuthor Apple Store in Norfolk, Va, I got an email of comformation for 2 iphones (for me and my wife), but when I called the store they only had me comfirmed for one. They said if I bring in my printed email then they will allow me to get both of them, but plan to be at the store early just to make sure...was wondering if any body know what time the line forms up there....

well i hear apple opens up at 7am on launch day but im sure people will be there around 2-3am waiting

    My MacBook Pro screen keeps going black.  This is happening more frequently.  I have had it in to the Apple store several times for this and they can't find anything wrong other than it is locked up for a while.  Since it is happening more and more, I am worried that at some point this will be permanent.

    Has it actually happened at the store?
    If not then we need to get it to do that. Now it may be completely random but you need to try and make a note of as many things as possible that happen when it does it.
    How long has it been on for, what are you doing at the time, what's connected. If it's reproducible then you've at least got somewhere.

  • Apple Store - Delivery times?? _ frustrating!!

    I placed an order through the Apple Store on the 8th Aug at 6:53am GMT (17" MBP, Office and a 4gb Black Nano), the website informed me that the manufacturing time would be 24 hours and dispatch would be on the 9th with arrival on or before the 11th (which is great as I needed the laptop for this weekend).
    I got an email this morning at 2:34am GMT informing me that my order has been despatched on the 10th and will arrive on the 14th. Why the sudden increase in delivery times? The website clearly stated all items were available within 24 hours meaning it should have been ready to despatch on the 9th to arrive with me on the 11th. Really disappointed I use to work in sales myself and if we gave a delivery date that was the date regardless, even if it meant having to have staff work overtime to complete an order and have it ready to leave on time.
    So what’s the chances of my order arriving with me on the Friday? As their will be no one available to collect delivery as of the Sunday for 8-12 weeks as I have to go work abroad.

    Delivery to Europe *****. I've ordered several times from the Apple online store. The manufacturing dates Apple told me were always correct. But then, after handover to Kuehne & Nagel in Shanghai, everything comes to a grinding halt. My first MBP got stuck in Shanghai for 5 days. And it took another 5 for it to reach my door-step. The replacement MBP got delivered from Shanghai directly by TNT. I thought that would speed up the process - but I was wrong. Again, the thing got stuck somewhere in China. Once the stuff is in Europe, though, the packages almost always arrive within 24 hours. From what I've read, delivery to the UK sometimes takes 2 days from the Netherlands, though.
    I just wished Apple would try to reduce the delivery times from Shanghai to Europe somehow.

    Just wondering if there is any new info on arrival time.. I've heard on a board that stores in FRANCE already have thier shipments.. so what on earth is up with Canadian shipments? Does Apple hate BB? Do the BB stores wait till everyone has a shipment before they will let any of them go on sale? Or do they sell as they arrive at the various locations? I would have bough mine from Apple days ago if it weren't for the large BB gift certificate I need to use. This is SO frustrating!

    Every time I start my MacBook it reverts to the Apple Store as the home page. I can keep my chosen homepage so long as I don't switch off my computer.

    What is happening is your new homepage isn't being stored in the Safari Preferences file on the boot drive
    However it is being stored in memory (RAM) thus as long as you keep the computer on and the contents of RAM are there as long as the power is on, your homepage remains.
    So to solve this problem require you to delete the hidden
    com.apple.safari.plist
    file in a hidden Users/Library folder and then quiting and restarting Safari. The .plist file will be recreated void of preferences and corruption and you enter your new preference choices.

  • Has anyone ever had a computer replaced by apple store?

    Hello my computer has been in and out of the apple store 4 times with sleep wake issues. They have replaced the LCD, the LCD housing clamshell lid, the top case and bottom case, the logic board, and the left I/O board, to no avail (clamshell mode either won't work, or the display stays lit while lid closed, a very dim sleep light, and no wake upon opening lid) They have finally decided to replace my computer.I've been without a computer for quite a few weeks now, I'm just wondering if anyone else has been through this process, and how long it took for the store to receive the replacement, and anyone have any ideas to what I will get in replacement to mine (17" mpb, 2.33 ghz, 3 gb ram, 100 gb 7200 rpm HDD, glossy) I'm guessing they don't still have those as this was purchased in april of 07. Obvously nobody knows for sure, but it's interesting to see what people think.

    No, this is the usual policy if you get a lemon. I think it is a nice gesture after the trouble you have experienced. They will upgrade you to the latest model of equal or better specs. So depending upon which model you had previously you could get a nice bump up. The minimum you'll receive is a 2.66 GHz/4GB RAM/320GB HDD. BTW, the unibody 17" MBPs were delayed a couple of weeks, and have just started arriving in stores. It really depends on your particular configuration when you'll get your machine.

    I have 2 issues that Apple has not been able to resolve, that are vexing me.
    1) Somehow I have 2-3 apple IDs ... passwords etc. I have purchased 2 iPads, 2 -3 iPhones, a Macbook Pro, and a Mac Mini with Thunderbolt monitor. Somewhere in that process I might have created another Apple ID, not sure. When the confusion started, I went to an Apple store, and they suggested I create a new Apple ID, against my better judgement I did, which added to the confusion. Now, every time I need to sign in using my Apple ID for anything, I have no idea what user ID goes with what password. I have gone to Apple stores several time to try to get this situation cleared up and each time they try to get me to create yet another Apple ID. Now I won't do that anymore, but the original confusion remains. How can I wipe out all Apple IDs and just have one?
    2) I have been trying to get a particular functionality/feature/capability added to my Mac system. Don't want to go into detail here because someone will steal my idea and make millions. I have posed this question to Mac personnel from Geniuses, to Business Teams -- no one can figure it out. How do I get this fabulous capability I have thought up to come to life so I can make millions?

    The nice thing about owning this overpriced POS is that Apple not only doesn't support it, but also doesn't want to hear about anything negative regarding it.  So I spoke to the so-called "support" people at Apple who successfully screwed up my contacts beyond repair.  I got a nice email from Apple asking me to rate the support I got.  I was actually civil and described the issue tactfully.  What do I get in return?  Nothing.  Not a damned thing!!  You're luck you've got me by the short hairs on a 2 year contract but I'm still tempted to throw this POS through the front window of the nearest Apple store!!  Not only will I be replacing this phone with a competitive product but I won't be buying anymore Apple crap.  I guess when you con 27 million people into believing your rhetoric and sales lies, you don't have to care whether some customers get screwed or not.  I'll be going back to Verizon and threatening legal action if they don't take this electronic dung heap back but I'm sure the teams of lawyers Apple and Verizon have on staff have insured that I have no rights in this matter and you're free to screw me anytime you please.  Sad.     ^^ that's the main problem. Here's the full history.
    I bought a new 13" i5 MBP, early 2011 edition. I had an old white Macbook 2.14 ghz core2duo on Snow Leopard. I attempted to port over my time machine backup, but encountered problems in that my User was inaccessible from the new computer after the import finished, and I had to go in and change the root password, etc, and for some reason or another, I couldn't install any programs at all from that administrator's account. By "couldn't" I mean I could install them, but upon installation they would never boot. So, I took it to the apple store and did a clean install from the most up to date Lion OSX. Then, I created a brand new admin account, instead of trying to import the old one, and things seemed great. Then, I just imported my old files from the TM backup, but not any system settings, permissions, or user data. Just my Docs, pics, vids, apps, and itunes stuff.
    Here's where things get weird again. I imported this stuff under the name "old", but all of these folders have a red negative sign on them, marking them as restricted. So, from my main admin account, I cannot even peruse these folders. Since I didn't import user data, I can't sign in to the "old" account to change permissions. I already tried to change the permissions from system preferences, but that didn't change anything. And now, for whatever reason, of all the apps that were imported then, MS Office is the only set of apps that does not work. When I click on it, it just says there was a problem and asks if I'd like to send a report to apple. I tried reinstalling it to no avail. I'm an English student, so i really need access to Word. Can anyone help? The Apple store is a major detour for me and would like to fix this issue myself.

    Most likely you have Office 2004 which are PPC-only applications and will not work in Lion. Upgrade to Office 2011. Other alternatives are:
    Apple's iWork suite (Pages, Numbers, and Keynote.)
    Open Office (Office 2007-like suite compatible with OS X.)
    NeoOffice (similar to Open Office.)
    LibreOffice (a new direction for the Open Office suite.)

    Someone I entrusted my computer to for repairs decided to keep it. all my personal information was on the computer. the peron has been using my credit card information o make ourchases from the apple store. If I do not have a credit card on the account on my iphone, I am unable to updatw it or my ipad. After persuading the apple store people to delete the last credit card info, I had to put aother credit card on the iphone to be able to update the software and thevapps. now that card is being used by the person o download war games on the new card. I cannot find any of his downloaded games on any of my devices. I am close to giving up my iphone and ipad. the last time i called the apple store, theynwould not give me the IP address of the omputer the games were downloaded to. they only gave me the name of my ipad. anyone could name thir ipad according to the name on mynipad. I have found the Apple store less than friendly about security matters like this.     Is the credit card registered to exactly the same name and address (including format and spacing etc) that you have on your iTunes account, it was issued by a bank in your country and you are currently in that country ?     Under System: out of 2GB - 54.7MB free; 530MB wired; 603MB active; 862MB inactive; 1.95GB used.
    Is too much of the system memory tied up? If so, what can I do to free some up?
