Apple Store Workshop question

I'm interested in working at the Apple Store as a Creative.
Are the workshop instructors given Apple Training Series books to teach from or are they making their own curriculum?
I'm doing some preparation and have a gotten a couple certifications, hopefully this should increase the odds of getting hired.
Anyone know what else they look for in new employees?

Maybe i'm over thinking this Apple job idea.

  • Buying MacBook in a Toronto Apple Store - some questions

Firstly, sorry for putting this post in this forum: my questions are not strictly specific to the MacBook but I didn't see a suitable forum and this is the product I am looking to buy next.
I will be going to Toronto for 10 days in May: can any Canadians out there (or people familiar with Toronto) tell me whether there is much difference between the (3?) stores in the city? I will be staying in near the Bloor/Yonge Street interchange.
I am looking to buy a MacBook whilst in Canada but would want to max out the memory (and possibly & bigger HD if I don't get the black model) and wondered whether it's possible to do this instore (as per online) and what the time-turnaround would be?
My other question I suppose would be directed at non-Canadians or those with experience of buying in North America and returning to UK. Buying in Canada appeals to me as it is cheaper but getting walloped for VAT & import duty re-entering UK does not! Any info/tips here greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

Hi macDogg, thanks for your reply.
I just spoke to someone from the Yorkdale store who told me they they only do RAM upgrades instore and that if I wanted a larger hard drive they wouldn't be able to sell me one. This is ok since I would probably end up going for the top-end black model and so RAM would be the only thing I would end up changing.
The guy also answered another question I had about Applecare which is great so it looks like I'll be good to go when I hit Toronto in May.
Thanks for the info about Taxes - I should be able to claim those back as a non-Canadian resident (hopefully). I had thought of mailing myself the packaging (yes I do want it so I must be a bit sad!) so hopefully that will work out ok too.
BTW when was the current range of MacBooks launched? I'm thinking there could be some new models (or slight revs) by May and hopefully I'll get Leopard too!
    Many thanks again.

  • Is the new apple store security questions legit?

When i tried to download free apps on my iPad, I was asked to re-enter my password and select three security questions. Is this legit?
It might be a little too late to ask as I already went through the security questions process and re-entered my password and everything. Now I just recieved an email saying I changed my security questions and if I did not do this, I should change my password right away.
    Is this normal?

Yes, it's normal and is done to prevent your account from being hacked.  They asked you to make some changes and then they wanted to confirm that you were, in fact, the person that responded to the request.  Double-checking for security purposes is good.

  • Better Specs MacBook Pro at Apple Stores

Hi. I live abroad, but I'm going to travel this weekend to the US and I'm interested in a MacBookPro Retina Display but I want it increased RAM to 16 GB. As far as I know, one can only enhance a Mac through the online store which only accepts US Credit Cards. So, my question is: Do you have 'enhanced' macbooks at the stores or, definitely, the only way I have to purchase a 16 GB of RAM MacBookPro Retina Display is through the online store? Note that the second option makes it impossible for me to purchase one, because I have no US Credit Card. Which are my options?
By the way, I have the same question with the MacBook Air of 8GB (no matter the screen size), are they available at the Apple Stores or just through the online stores?
    Thank you.

This is not Apple. This is a user forum. If you need to ask the Apple Store a question:

  • Looking for Apple Store Calendars (Specifically for San Francisco)

    Ahhhhhh!
Whatever happened to subscribe-able events calendars for the Apple Stores? Looking at the iCal site at Apple.com, there is nothing for the stores. The best I can find now is the widget, which is very limited: one week at a time? help!

I cannot find these Apple Store workshop and event calendars either.
Apple has an event widget but what happened to being able to subscribe to a specific Apple Store's calendar of a events through iCal????

  • Confirmed Pre-order (home delivery) + Apple store reservation

I am eligible for upgrade & was lucky enough to get both a confirmed Pre-order w/ home delivery & a confirmed reservation at the local Apple store - my question is, Can I get them both at the $299 price OR will the instore reservation @ Apple see that I have already paid the discounted price for my home delivery?
I originally did this becuase of all the issues, i wasn't 100% sure that things had went through smoothly (mostly becuase they went TOO smooth - I was done w/ both processes in under 5 minutes).
If I could get a 2nd phone at discounted price, I'd likely sell it. If I can't, does anyone know if I can give my reserved phone @ the store to someone else? Do I have to wait in line & get the phone only to hand it off to someone else for activation OR could I just send someone else w/ my e-mail confirmation of the reservation?

It all depends on if they check the ATT system again or not. I ordered for Apple delivery, but ATT knows that. I'm assuming when you go in the store, they check your ATT account once more, since they ask for your information to confirm what price you qualify for.
I suppose you can try it and see, but I wouldn't count on it.

  • Taking a broken mac into the Apple store?

My intel iMac is only 1.5 months old but has been experiencing the infamous sleep and airport issues. despite all my best efforts and research and updates, i have yet to find a fix for this. i decided this is it and it needs to be looked at by my local apple store. my question is, if i bought this mac at macmall, can i still take it into my apple store to have it looked at. i really don't want to deal with the macmall idiots again, not to mention box back up etc. secondly, assuming i can take my imac back into the store, do i need bring my mouse and keyboard? do i need to bring it back in its original box and do i need to bring the invoice from macmall? sorry im a newb as far as mac repairs go. been a user since 96 and this is the first time anything has needed to be looked at.

    Hello,
You should only need to take in the computer itself. They already have keyboards and mice.
As for warranty, you can take it to any Apple Authorized Service Center for warranty repair. It doesn't matter where you purchased it.
Your serial number is enough for them to see that it is under warranty.
You can take your purchase receipt with you, and it wouldn't hurt. But, it should not be required.
The only time it should matter is if you are beyond 1 year from when the computer was manufactured, but less than 1 year since you purchased it (like if it sat on the shelf for a while). But, most authorized resellers will automatically send the purchase date to Apple when you purchase it. So, ideally that would be accounted for.
But, if you want to see for yourself, you can go to Apple's support site here:
    http://www.apple.com/support/
Then, enter your serial number in the box in the lower right (where it says "About Your Support Coverage
") and it will show your warranty status.
You don't need to package it up in all the boxes if you don't want to. But, it wouldn't hurt to protect it while you are transporting it.
I hope this helps to answer your questions. Let me know if I missed anything, or if you have other questions.
    Hope this helps.

  • This is a stupid question but I needed to ask because I don't want to go there and not being able to buy it, but can I get the iPhone 5 brought straight there when I go to an apple store?

This is a stupid question but I needed to ask because I don't want to go there and not being able to buy it, but can I get the iPhone 5 brought straight there when I go to an apple store?

And I meant go to the apple store physically without preordering it online, and I meant the Southampton one. So could I just stroll in apple store and buy a iPhone 5 in Southampton apple store and buy the iPhone 5 straight away? Because I didn't want to have to wait? I just want to go in and buy it and go out with it, if you guys get what I mean? And felipeV if it is in stock could I just buy it and leave with my iPhone 5?

  • Third Party Repair vs Apple Store Visit (weird situation/question)

I have a 24" intel iMac that recently went kaput. I turned it on last night and it could no longer find any startup volume. It was as if my hard drive just vanished. I tried rebooting, I tried holding the option key and booting, I tried holding c and booting, etc. to no avail. There was just no longer a hard drive. I booted from the install cd and ran disk utility, but there was no volume to repair or reformat/reinstall on, so I finally called Apple. We went through the whole troubleshooting procedure and the rep came to the conclusion that I would have to bring my iMac to the nearest Apple Store or dealer to have the hard drive replaced...
Now, here's where my situation gets a little unique and where my actual question comes in. I live close by to an Apple Store, but I am currently receiving high-dose chemotherapy and it is HIGHLY inadvisable for me to drive, let alone expose myself to mall germs for the next few weeks. I told the Apple rep about my situation and asked about having someone come to my house to repair the computer. He obliged by hooking me up with an approved third-party dealer. They will apparently call me to set up an appointment, come to my home and replace my hard drive. Now, this is great, but I had a question about this which the Apple rep could not answer and I have yet to receive a call from the third-party repair company. My question for the rep was whether or not this third-party repair company would do anything at all to attempt to retrieve the data on the defective drive. The Apple Rep said he did not know what, if anything, they would do to help me retrieve the data currently in limbo. That pretty much stinks because all of my personal info is on there, including tax returns, e-mails, photos and music. I have some backups, but definitely not everything. This is long, sorry....wow...anyway, here is my question for this board:
Would I be better off waiting and just going through the Apple Store for this process? I have AppleCare and my PowerBook, so time is not really an issue; but would they go above and beyond in the effort to retrieve my data? I have no idea what this third party is going to do, but I'll find out eventually; however, if I'm armed with the knowledge that the Apple Store will do everything they can to get my data and this third party ends up sounding wishy washy about it (or worse - they flat out say they won't do anything beyond the repair), I'll just tell them to forget it and wait until I can travel and take my iMac into the Apple Store. This information is vital because the one thing the Apple rep made crystal clear is that there is no way I will be allowed to keep the old drive, which would allow me to attempt data retrieval at my leisure.
Also, this is an additional minor question: the Apple Rep said that the old drives are destroyed when received by Apple, but can anyone here confirm this? Is it 100% assured that these drives are not just given a cursory wipe and then refurbished (if it turns out they can be fixed that is)?
Thanks for listening and any info you can provide.

"but would they go above and beyond in the effort to retrieve my data?"
It has been my understanding from reports here by other users with the experience, that the Apple stores generally charge a fee (I think $75) for transferring hard drive data - it's not part of the service that they're performing. Don't assume that before you leave without your Mac, anyone will even inquire whether or not you still have data on a drive. There have been reports from some users who simply made the assumption that data transfer would be taken care of, only to find it all gone. As for an Apple authorized dealer, I'm not sure why the situation would be any different at all. Best to use caution.

If you are within 14 days of purchase you can still return the iPhone and get the phone that suits your needs, however, I think you will find that no matter which phone you get the content provider will want to know how you are going to pay for future purchases. For Android phones it is Google, and they will certainly want to know.

Sorry last question got knocked back my ipad and iPhone on two different levels and I am not able to play through Facebook so not able to progress or unlock next level through Apple store. Don't know how to resolve problem

Thank you again for all of your help!! I really appreciate it!
I think I am following -- I was able to upload to my iPhoto and all photos and videos are there that is a plus! I tried to create an Event in my iPhoto and put all of my photos in that event but for some reason, now my iTunes it not recognizing that Event in my iPhoto. It is not allowing me to import just that event at the moment but I may be doing something wrong. At least all of my pics and vids are in iPhoto so that is a plus and I know they are at least saved somewhere. Just for some reason, my iTunes it not locating the event that I created with only those photos.
Thank you for letting me know about my contacts! How do I know if I have the contacts app?
Also, I had no clue that my iCloud could be backed up via cellular data! However, is this a new feature with the most updated iOS?? Unforutnatly I am like 2 iOS updates behind because I don't have enough storage on my phone. I still get the notification that my phone needs to be plugged in and connected to wifi in order to back up to the cloud :-(
How can I sync using USB? Right now when i click on the info tab for my iPhone in my iTunes this is the answer that I get -- I am a little unclear as to what it means.
    Sync Contacts:
Your contacts are being synced with you iPhone over the air from iCloud. Over-the-air sync settings can be changed on you iPhone
