Apple SU Server behind firewall: What ports are needed?

From what I can see the only needed port is 8088; does this encompass the client getting everything it needs from the SUS, or do the more standard ports 80/443 need to be opened up as well? I am trying to get my ducks in a row before making the request to our network engineers to have the ports opened up.

  • What ports are needed to fully utilize Apple TV

The ports that i know of so far that need to be enabled are below, does anyone know of any other ports that need to be enabled for the Apple TV to fully be utilized (Airplay Mirroring, home sharing, etc.) Thanks for any and all assistance!!!
    80 - TCP (HTTP)
    123 - TCP/UDP (Time Server)
    443 - TCP (https)
    554 - TCP/UDP (rtsp)
    3689 - TCP (daap)
    5353 - UDP (mdns)

There are hardware converters that will convert HDMI to various other types of output, however there are some issues with doing so that you should be aware of.
    HDCP
HDCP compliant converters will not allow you to watch HDCP protected content such as that from the iTunes Store. Non compliant converters exist but we cannot discuss them under the Terms of Use for these communities.
    Resolution and aspect ratio
I'm not aware of any converters that will scale the output from the Apple TV, any TV or projector which is used will need to be widescreen and support resolutions of 720p (if you are using the Apple TV 2)

  • What ports are required to be open on a firewall for UCCX ver7 Backups

I'm trying to setup a backup location on UCCX version 7.
The backup storage location and the UCCX server are seperated by a firewall.
What ports are required to be opened on the firewall to allow the backups through to the backup location.
    Can't find any info online

Try it locally on the server itself.
You just need to create a shared directory backup oon the server on C:\ drive.
    \\127.0.0.1\C$\backup
    This should work.

  • Database Link - What ports are used?

I am attempting to create a database link from a very locked down server (Database A) to Database B which is on my internal network.
Can someone tell me what ports I need to open in the firewall for a database link to work correctly? My Database B instance is a XE instance running on the default port 1521.
    Thanks,

Thanks,Hans and Devotee have given you the best info so far. I'd like to expand and clarify slightly on their comments.
There is really nothing special about a db-link. It is just another client process, being used by the 'client' database. It uses exactly the same networking pieces as does sqlplus on the same machine. All of the same considerations are there ... tnsnames.ora on the client machine matching up with the listener configuration on the target machine, listener ports, port redirection for establishing the actual server process, etc. I would start by getting a sqlplus connection working. When you have that, you know you have all of your network configuration issues resolved. At that point any issues you have with the dblink will be in the link definition itself.
And as Hans pointed out, databases don't run on port 1521. It is a conceptual mistake to think of the database as "running" on any port. By default the listener uses port 1521 to listen for connection requests. The database knows nothing about that. It is also very easy, and not that uncommon, to configure the listener to use another port instead of or in addition to 1521, so it is also a mistake to treat port 1521 as if it were some immutable value.

  • How do i find what ports are being used.

I need to know how to tell what ports are being used and by what. I recently bought Apple Remote Desktop and have been pretty impressed but I have one computer here that won't let me Observe or Control. I think it is because the G4 in question has a program using port 5900. I need to confirm this is there any way that I can see if this port is being used?
    Thanks
    Moderith

    Hi Moderith--
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Look in your Utilities folder for the Network Utility program. Open it, and choose "Port Scan" from the row of tabs in its window. If you're not running Network Utility on the problematic G4, use the G4's IP address. But if you're actually on the G4, use "localhost".
Note that if you check the open ports on the G4 from another computer, you won't see as many as if you check it from the G4 itself. That's because some ports are only local. For example, I have enabled the mail server on my Macs, but only to deliver mail, not relay it. So if I do a port scan using "localhost", I see port 25 open, but it's not open from another computer.

  • What ports are blocked with Homefusion

I am trying to figure out what ports are blocked on the homefusion service.

There is no official list of blocked ports for HomeFusion or any of the other VZW products.  All products are treated the same way.  The NAT firewall on VZWs new LTE network is responsible for blocking internet communication as well as hiding public IP Addresses. No manual configuration of the devices themselves will allow you to work around the issue.  In truth it would be easier to create a list of the allowed ports but we don't have one of those either.
A rule of thumb is that you should assume any custom or unusual ports are blocked.  Even the less popular mainstream ports are blocked some times.  Only the major mainstream public ports are normally available.  You have to test out your applications to know for sure if they work.  If you have a laptop then stop by a VZW store and use one of their devices to test if it works before you buy.
Also, anything depending on Public IP Addresses is broken on the new LTE network.  Some common examples are VOIP phones, Xbox hosting, IP security cameras, etc.  If you need remote access to your local network then forget about it.
The work around to blocked ports and Public IPs are as follows:
    1. Setup a VPN to connect to a network where the ports are open
    2. Purchase a static IP Address from VZW for $500.00
    3. Use a different ISP
VZW does not make exceptions for port blocking.  You have to work around them or get by without them.

  • Putting Identity Server behind firewall

    Hi All,
I have an application running on SunONE app server 7 with agent in order to control authentication and authorization. I would like to put the identity server behind firewall. However, everytime when the agent redirect to identity server to perform login, it redirects directly which user can't access the login page. May I know how can I put the Identity server behind firewall? Must I use web proxy server instead? Any other solution? Thx a lot.
    \Tobey

Hi, this is Tobey again. I have installed Identity Server 6.1 and a web proxy server 3.6 in front of the Identity Server.
The web proxy server succeed in reverse proxying all usual applications. However, when I try accessing amconsole through proxy server, the console service always re-direct me to Identity Server host directly. And my client browser is not allow to resolve that hostname.
What I have configured is setting regular and reverse url mapping in Web proxy server. In Identity server, I have set the fqdn mapping, dns alias, adding one more in server list and cookies domain.
Any one had experience on putting Identity Server behind firewall? How to solve the hostname problem that redirected by Identity Server service? Thx a lot.

  • Is there a way to see what ports are mapped via UPnP on the E4200 v1?

I can see the manual port mappings in the App&Gaming->Single Port Forwarding section but I also want to see what ports are mapped via UPnP.  Any way to do this?

I believe there is no way we can do it using the regular Linksys firmware. It could be possible if you use a different firmware. However, installing another firmware (third party) would void the warranty of the device.
Unless you just return back to stock Linksys firmware that un-voids the warranty!

i don't think that the url blocking should block any ports ... however , if its doing this .. you may need to upgrade / reflash the router's firmware .. after the upgrade , reset and reconfigure the router ..

  • What commands are needed to configure authentication?

I'm running the JaasAcn Sample from a DOS prompt on a Win XP client and am getting 'authentication failed'. My Active Directory Realm is AD.COURSEWIZARD.COM and the KDC FQDN is ad.ad.coursewizard.com. It succeeds when I run the 'Sample' locally on the AD server. If I set 'isInitiator=false' in jaas.conf, it succeeds no matter what I enter for username & password. It seems that I need to configure an SPN.
When setting an SPN, are you declaring that a particular AD user account is associated with a remote service that will be requesting authentication?
Do I have to also use the 'ktpass' command, even though I'm using a Win client?
If I use ktpass, but am just testing with a PC on the Inet, should I just use my IP address for domain since I don't have a FQDN?
Do I need to move the keytab file, created by ktpass, to the client and configure it to use it?
Does the ADS need to have a krb5.conf or krb5.init file? I don't see one under '../drivers/etc/'.
What commands are needed in order to configure the server, and client, to authenticate successfully?
    Cheers

Sorry, I haven't seen a nice JGSS for Windows guide yet.
    Back to your questions:
    1. When setting an SPN, are you declaring that a particular AD user account is associated with a remote service that will be requesting authentication?
IMHO, setspn creates a service-like alias for a normal AD account, so that GSS style server program can use it as a NT_HOSTBASED_SERVICE name.
    2. Do I have to also use the 'ktpass' command, even though I'm using a Win client?
ktpass is used at the server side, what you use at client side is unrelated.
    3. If I use ktpass, but am just testing with a PC on the Inet, should I just use my IP address for domain since I don't have a FQDN?
Porbably not. Anyway, AD works fine with a DNS. If you haven't one, config the AD server as a DNS server.
    4. Do I need to move the keytab file, created by ktpass, to the client and configure it to use it?
No, keytab is used at server side. The client side uses the native credentials cached in LSA after you login to Windows as an AD account.
    5. Does the ADS need to have a krb5.conf or krb5.init file? I don't see one under '../drivers/etc/'.
Yes, Java needs the file for both client and server JGSS programs. Normally it should be inside the WINDOWS directory. Somethign weird woun happen if you uses Terminal Services or else. Add -Dsun.security.krb5.debug=true to the Java command line will show you when Java tries to look for this file.
    6. What commands are needed in order to configure the server, and client, to authenticate successfully?
You need setspn.exe and ktpass.exe on the server to create the SPN and the keytab file. No tools are necessary on the client side, but MS's kerbtray.exe and klist.exe (attention: MS's klist, not Java's) are nice. BTW, a nice network sniffer (say, Wireshark) is also useful.
I'm not an expert on all these questions, but I cannott resist the temptation to give an answer to each of them.
