Apple support taking really long

all right my ipod broke abd i sent it back almost a week ago but every time i go to the apple website it says empty box shipped instead of diognosis pending. should i wait to get the box back or call apple

I have heard (read here), but do not have any first hand experience, is that Apple often is late updating the online database and you may get your iPod back before they update the listing to say it was shipped.

  • AME Taking Really Long Time To Open Encoding Settings

With the release of the 2014 versions of AME, I have experienced really long wait times when opening the encoding settings for a job. For example, if I add a 1920x1080 image sequence to the encoder, pick Quicktime as the container and any of the available codecs, clicking on the codec name to open it's settings causes a really long delay, maybe 3 minutes, before the settings dialog will open. I am using a Macbook Pro with Yosemite. Previous versions before 2014 version never had this issue. Is this a known issue?
    thx

This is a known issue with running AME on Yosemite. We are working with Apple on the issue and hope it will be fixed in an upcoming OS update.

  • Created an app not able to see it on iPhone Apple Support is REALLY POOR

My company created an iPhone application about 2-3 months ago. It has been accepted by Apple Online (where you submit it) but it is not viewable in any iPhone. When you ask apple support they just send you a reply back with a link that does NOT help.
You will not believe I have sent approximately 20 emails to ALL of Apple's support email and even rang them a couple of times but there is no one who knows what they are doing. No one helps, everyone replies back with that link in the email. Even if you tell them what you have done and ask them for what else is requored as the link is not able to help us they will still reply you back wit the same email.
I was hoping that with such a big company like Apple they would have hired some educated people who know what they are doing or at least reply you back with some helpful solutions.
For the past 2 months they have given me a run around and no help at all. Does anyone know where I can complaint about Apple? Or does anyone know who can help me out with this type of a problem. I mean come on, the application was developed by my professional IT team who has been in IT for over 10 years and have developed numerous applications.
Please someone help me out on this one. This is very important. I am very tired of emailing Apple over and over again and getting EXACTLY the same reply back all the time. I mean do they even read your emails or do they just send you back like a ROBOT what is already in the system i.e. Automatically Set Emails.
I am sorry If I am rude but even the director of the company had a good run around because of this. Is this really professional of apple support team?
I am asking again please help me out check our account all the codes are absolutely perfect we have checked over 100 times or at least tell us what else we can do to improve this. It's urgent now!

This is what you get from them ALL THE TIME. Exactly the same reply:

  • Apple TV taking a long time to download an iTunes Store movie rental

Normally when we rent a movie from the iTunes Store via Apple TV we're able to start watching it within a few minutes. We just rented one, however, and the downloading process is going super slow. It's been downloading for at least 10 minutes, it's just 22 percent done, and AppleTV is saying that we won't be able to start watching it for another 35 minutes.
Our Internet seems to be working fine and at normal speeds otherwise though.
Any idea why the Apple TV is taking so long to download this movie rental?

He probably means that it's too late in the evening to start the video, at least that was our problem.
The movie was Hi-def, lineout, but they almost always are and we've never had it take so long--it would have been faster for me to drive out to the local video store and pick up a DVD.

  • HT5731 Apple tv taking too long to download movie purchase. How to solve this?

Need help to speed up apple tv movies purchased on downloads

    Hello Tammyek,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
For more information on this, take a look at:
iTunes Store: Download times will vary
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1577
When you buy an item from the iTunes Store, the amount of time it takes to download your purchase will vary according to the file's size and your Internet connection speed.

  • HT4882 Apple Support Update: No longer an option to Automatically illuminate keyboard in low light.

This Apple Support page appears to be outdated:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4882
My Mid 2012 MacBook Pro has no option to Automatically illuminate keyboard in low light.
The option now offered, Adjust keyboard brightness in low light, does not enable the keyboard backlight to be completely turned off.
The ability to completely turn off keyboard backlighting should be an option, Apple -- get on it, please. Every little bit of energy which users can opt to save will extend charge duration and battery life, and thus should be provided.
Also, in certain situations, I want less light, and the light from the keyboard is at those times a cause of light pollution and distraction.
Message was edited by: AdamsFruit to include image.

I've found an answer to my question about how to turn off the keyboard backlighting on the mid 2012 MacBook Pro 13":
The F5 function key's primary function is as the Keyboard Backlight Dimmer, and can dim keyboard backlighting all the way to nothing.  (F6 is Keyboard Backlight Brightener).
Nonetheless, This Apple Support page is still incorrect:

  • External hard drive taking really long time to reformat

I'm reformatting a Seagate 2TB external hard drive that connects using USB 3.0 to my 2014 Macbook Pro (OS X 10.9.4).
For some idiotic reason (because I had never used it before and wanted to see what happened), when I went to reformat the drive in Disk Utility from FAT32 into 'Mac OS Journaled (Extended)' I selected the option for "7 Pass Secure Erase".  It initially told me it should take "1 day, 7 hours", which seemed like a lot but was consistent with what other Support Communities people have said for such a large drive.
It's now been reformatting for 20 hours, and the estimated time remaining says "1 day, 1 hour".  The progress bar has moved and it says it's on pass #3, but this seems like it's taking an abnormally long time.  Has something gone wrong?  For reference, I did a 1-pass into reformat into FAT32 on a similar 1TB external and it only took me around 20 minutes (so I estimated the new one would take ~5 hours (20 * ~2X storage space, 7 passes). I know "estimated time" on a computer always defies the laws of mathematics, but if "6 hours" is actually 20 hours, will I really be waiting for another 80 hours?  Can I do anything to speed this up?
More importantly, can I stop the reformat and try it a gain with 1-pass, now that I've initiated the idiot way of doing it?  I don't want to screw the drive up or make it unreadable, it's brand new, but I don't want to have to leave my laptop on for the next 3 and a half days.
    Please help!  Thanks so much!

I don't know which Seagate external you're using but my experience with a number of GoFlex externals has been that very little thought was given to ventilation, and, as a result, the drives tended to overheat. Watching the transfer rate using Activity Monitor during normal backup use, I found that after running a while and getting hot, the transfer rate went from MB's to KB's/sec. You're not actually transferring anything but the drive is being written to, so I'd expect the write speed to drop and what is already going to be a long process will just get longer. Sorry.

  • APPLE SERVICE TAKING SO LONG!!!

So my brand new MBP has been in service 4 times so far!!. and this time its been like 12 days!!!!
This is starting to anger me?
What do I do just wait?
    man!!!
    What can i tell apple??
    ***

If the system really has been in for service four times (i.e. you're not exaggerating), call the Apple tech support number and ask to speak to Customer Relations. When you get a representative on the phone, calmly and politely explain the issue - how long it's been in this time, what it's in repair for, and when and for what reason it's been in the shop previously (be prepared to provide case numbers as applicable) and ask for help in getting a quick resolution. Note that the rep will have much more leverage if the system is at an Apple Store or the mail-in depot than if you took the system to an independent Apple service provider.
    Good luck.

  • Laptop taking really long time to restart after battery drain

Last night I had a weird experience with my mid-2011 MacBook Pro; I went out to dinner and came back to find the cat had kicked the power cord out, draining the battery. I've had this happen before and wasn't too worried; it's always just restarted after I plugged it back in. This time, however, I plugged it in (getting, perplexingly, a green light on the cord) and nothing happened except for the sleep light slowly flashing; it didn't respond to any pressing on the power button, and the sleep light disappeared if I unplugged the cord. The battery test button on the side got one flashing light (meaning, I believe, a dead battery), which also didn't work if the computer was unplugged.
I left it plugged in while I hunted for info on the problem and about an hour later had just decided that I was going to have to take it in to the Genius Bar when it suddenly booted up. The cord light turned orange and it proceeded to fully recharge over the next two hours.
Is this normal behavior after a battery drain? Should I be concerned? Is it worth taking the computer in to get the battery checked, or some other element of the comp? (some of the things I looked at were talking about the logic board, which is not a happy thought)
iStat Pro claims the battery is at 41% health, 111 cycles, which I would think would mean it has some life in it yet.
Anyway, I'd appreciate any advice anyone can offer.
    Thanks!

    Battery Health: 41%
It is better to get it checked at Apple Store.
If Extended AppleCare is not purchased, Mac is under limited warranty for 1 year
    from the date of purchase.
    Make use of that warranty.
    Best.

  • Apple TV taking a long time to load purchased content

I purchased shows on my Apple TV, but I get one of two messages 1) my show will be ready in x hours (enter absurdly long timeframe here) or 2) unable to connect to iTunes. I ran a speed test, and my ping is 30 ms, download 30Mbps and upload 7Mbps. I am on fiber optic internet, so I do not have a modem. However, I have power cycled the ATV and the wireless router. I have replaced the wireless router with a dual band router. I have connected the ATV directly to the router via ethernet. My ISP says it must be an Apple issue as they can see nothing wrong with my service, and I can still stream content for Netflix, Youtube, etc.
    Any ideas?

Provided you get sustained 30Mbps and your ISP isn't throttling speed at certain times, it should work fine.
You only need 8 Mbps for near instant 1080p playback from iTunes store.  Slower and it will buffer/recalculate/buffer/recalculate…and you may see minutes or many hours predicted if downloading is slow.
Netflix and other will work with less as they adjust quality in relation to connection speed.
The ethernet excluded a wifi issue, and the only other local concern would be another user on your network downloading and reducing overall bandwidth.
It could be Apple's servers having a bad day or two.
The only other thought would be your DNS servers - use your ISPs default as some (such as OpenDNS I believe) can re-route traffic and makes accessing Apple's streaming servers very slow.  There are a few posts here where DNS servers have been the culprit.

  • Mail taking REALLY long time to REPLY.

Hi, whenever I REPLY to an e-mail it seems to take ages before the message will appear.
Ie, I'm reading a message, hit reply and then I have to wait thirty seconds before it finally brings up the new message with the old one attached.
I can understand in large e-mails where there may be lots of graphics etc, but most of the time I receive plain text e-mails (free from all html) and it seems to take forever.
Does anyone know a way in which I might be able to "reset mail" like you can reset SAFARI, without loosing my e-mails and accounts. (sounds a bit stupid.)
    TIA for any help.

    danielwaters(at)mac.com

    Hi Dan.
How many accounts do you have and what type are they (POP, IMAP, .Mac)?
Verify/repair the startup disk (not just permissions), as described here:
The Repair functions of Disk Utility: what's it all about?
Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Network, choose Network Port Configurations from the Show popup menu, and make sure that the configuration used to connect to Internet appears at the top of the list.
Try disabling Search .Mac For Certificates in Keychain Access > Preferences if it’s enabled. Take a look at the following articles for an explanation of why this could be the problem:

  • Apple tv Taking very long to load iMac library

It is taking at least 5 minutes to load the library from my iMac when I try to play songs from iTunes. It started doing this only recently. My home network is working fine with all other equipment (MacBook Pro, iPad etc.) anyone else experiencing this problem?

You might try changing the wifi channel your network uses to eliminate the possibility you are suffering from interference.

  • UIMsg_RefreshWindows is taking too long to execute

    Hi all,
I have a Process Model sequence file that calls the PostUIMessageEx method with the UIMsg_RefreshWindows parameter on the SequenceFielPostStepRuntimeError and the SequenceFilePostStepFailure callbacks. This has been taking really long to execute (>3 minutes) since I moved to TS3.5 about a month ago. Do you guys know of any issue of this method with these particular  parameters on TS3.5? What could be causing this problem?
    Attachments:
    UIMsg.jpg ‏92 KB

    Hi, <<...
There is nothing out of normal among your parameters. The synchronize option you selected is going to make the method wait until the operator interface process the message. So it depends on what you put in your UI message event handler. I'm not aware of anything related to this method itself that could cause this slow execution behavior. If you could send us a simplified version of the project, maybe we can further investigate the issue.
