Apple Talk won't activate

I have an iMac G3, 400 MHz, 192 MB, running 10.2.8. My printer is a LaserWriter 4/600PS. It is connected to the computer by an AsanteTalk switch which allows me to use the ethernet port for Apple Talk. I have a G5 with an HP printer which I usually use; however, when I want to use my laser printer for a project, I use the G3.
The last time I used it, the printer worked. Today, the G3 will not recognize a printer. When it gives me the opportunity to add a printer, it tells me that I have to activate AppleTalk. When I go to network preferences, the AppleTalk box is already checked. I have checked it and unchecked it several times; however, I still cannot add a printer. I have even gone into the Classic 9 environment and tried to add it via the chooser, and when I click the activate Apple Talk button, it tells me Apple Talk is not available.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried what you suggested. I first went to the Classic chooser and tried to activate AppleTalk from there. Once again, it would not allow me to choose a printer, and it told me to activate AppleTalk in the network preferences. I went to what I think is the Classic network preferences and checked for it to turn AppleTalk on and received this message: That application or control panel is not supported by Classic. In the process, I discovered that my extensions panel for Classic was turned off. I turned it back on and tried your suggestion again with the same result.
Before doing this, I ran Norton Disk Doctor on the hard drive, and it came up with one major problem and some minor ones. Only one of them mentioned AppleTalk, and it said it was fixed.

Specifically I wonder if the AppleTV may be trying to connect with an unsupported resolution giving a black screen. Try cycling display resolutions using these remote commands in step 6:
If your TV screen appears fuzzy or black (you see no video)
Make sure the television you are using supports the Apple TV resolution requirements. Please see the Apple TV technical specifications.
When you connect power, check to make sure the LED turns on. If the LED is not on, then verify with a known good power outlet or connect something else to the outlet you're using for Apple TV and make sure it works (such as a lamp or clock).
Make sure you're using the correct video cables and that they are connected firmly to Apple TV and to your TV.
Connect the HDMI cable directly into the Apple TV and your television, remove any third party devices or adapters.
Make sure the input setting you've selected on your TV matches the input you have your video cables connected to. See the documentation that came with your TV for more information.
Change the Apple TV resolution by pressing and holding the Menu and Up button for six seconds. The Apple TV will automatically cycle to the next resolution at approximately 20 second intervals. Pressing the Select button will immediately cycle to the next resolution.
If you are connected via HDMI, try unplugging and replugging your HDMI cable.
If HDMI isn't working on an Apple TV (1st generation), try component cables instead (and disconnect the HDMI cable temporarily). Read more about HDMI vs component video.

Even after resetting apple id password still won't activate my phone

I did a reset erase all contents and settings but i'm stuck at activation lock! The iphone is mine and email is correct but even after i reset my password, IT STILL WON'T ACCEPT THE NEW PASSWORD :(( please help! Thank you.

But when i sign in my icloud account on the activation lock, it still won't accept it. Even if i tried resetting my password. I believe that i use the right icloud account but still it won't activate it. I tried locating my device on find my iphone and the device was not there, does it mean my device has already been erased?(i resetted all content and settings) but why does it still have an activation lock after reset? Tried everything but still no luck :( reset apple id or password but still nothing :(

I upgraded to ios7 and my message and facetime won't activate. I try sign in with my apple id and I get the message "iMessage Activation - Could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again." I have tried everything even restoring and I keep getting the same problem

I searched the support.apple.com and found Unable to activate FaceTime or iMessage with phone number and Apple ID after waiting 24 hours (iPhone only) I followed all the instruction (even though it seemed it was for previous ios versions) step by step and it worked.

My replacement 4S from Apple won't activate ?

I purchased my original 4S from Craig's List last year and it was running on FIDO. Last week it developed a problem with it's wireless antenna and I replaced it using Apple's OOW service for $200.- + taxes. Now the replacement phone won't activate on FIDO and I was told that it is probably locked to another carrier ? Why would that be the case when I have paid for a new phone ? So should I return it to Apple and get my money back as I now have a $200 paperweight. The whole thing is quite stupid and illogical and I can honestly say it's the last Apple product I buy. It's all such a pain it is simply not worth the time.

First off who told you it was locked to another carrier and secondly what did Apple say when you contacted them about the problem?

I got mine sorted. Turns out because i got it unlocked the first time getting updates via itunes causes it to restart again. Had to get it unlocked at managed to get eveything back after restoring it from itunes. Very happy cause the guy in the apple shop told me i had to call apple and pay 35euro just to talk to them! I manged to get it unlocked for only 20 and its just like it was.

4S won't activate after iOS 5.1 update

Updated yesterday.
Update finished but my iphone 4s keeps asking me for configuration and won't activate.
I select the wireless network. Connection is fine. Even SIM unlock happens.
It says it is OK to use it now. I click on it and it returns back to configure screen again.
It is in a loop.
Configure-You can use it-Configure-You can use it-Configure and on and on.
I restored the iphone using iTunes but no lock. If I restore it from backup or icloud backup the situation is the same.
If I set it up as new iphone I can open it but this time I loose everything.
I have backups but I cannot use the phone if I install them.
This is really frustrating.
Can I get back to 5.01 somehow. I want to use my phone and I don't want to lose my data.
Any ideas?

The backup you have does matter (icloud or itunes. The moment you restore from it, you are in the loop. I don't know if Siri has anything to do with it or not but mine was off.
I talked to Apple for 50 minutes. We tried many things, no joy. The last words were that there were more people like us and if the number were enough Apple would develop and publish an update. What they suggested is to wait until the update is released, install the update and then make the restore from backup. It would work then.
Please call Apple and create a case. We need numbers.
I hope they take us seriously and correct this grave mistake as soon as possible.
For those who have iCloud backup, the following works:
Set the phone up as new device.
Go to Settings and iCloud.
Enter your iCloud account.
It will ask if you would like to merge.
If you say yes, you could at least get your contacts back.

Messages and FaceTime just won't activate on my iPad Air all of a sudden; tried a LOT of solutions

About two weeks ago, my iPad Air was spontaneously signed out of Messages and FaceTime when I was using it to browse the web while on the bus, connected via Personal Hotspot on my iPhone. Since then, I haven’t been able to sign in to either Messages or FaceTime. I can still sign in to my iCloud account as normal for other things like contact and bookmark syncing. It’s just Messages and FaceTime that refuse to activate.
The error messages I receive vary between the following:
“An error occurred during activation. Try again."
“Could not sign in. Please check your network connection and try again."
“Verification failed - The connection to iCloud timed out."
“Unable to contact the iMessage server. Try again."
This iPad Air is a replacement from Apple (quite possibly a refurbished one) that I received in November 2014, after the previous model developed a malfunctioning touchscreen in one corner. It’s worth mentioning that my iPhone and Mac are completely unaffected by any issues, and can also be signed in and out of Messages and FaceTime without a hitch.
I’ve tried an awful lot of things in an attempt to get Messages and FaceTime to sign in successfully on the iPad Air, none of which have worked, and many of which I have tried multiple times.[1]
Things I have tried in an attempt to activate Messages and FaceTime
connecting to different wifi in multiple locations (work and home) and Personal Hotspot from iPhone
signing into Messages and FaceTime with different Apple IDs (these won’t activate Messages and FaceTime either)
wiping iPad with normal restore
wiping iPad with DFU restore
resetting network settings (both after fresh install and after backup restore)
restoring from an October 2014 backup (still have to sign into Messages and FaceTime, still don’t work)
turning off the automatic timezone setting and setting the date and time manually, even though it was correct anyway
deselecting phone number and @me.com so purely using @icloud.com to sign in
running the activation process through VPN connections via London and New York
changing DNS on wifi to 8.8.8.8
updating to iOS 8.2 beta 4
I would love to hear from anybody who can provide the solution as to why Messages and FaceTime just won’t activate. Apple won't provide free support on this as the iPad is now out of warranty.

Many of my apps stopped working because I was still running on operating system 4. I upgraded from os4 to os6 on my unlocked 3GS...and now it won't activate. I get the below error message:
"Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable. Try connecting your iPhone to iTunes to activate it, or try again in a couple of minutes"
Well, I tried with iTunes and similar error message that activation is not possible at this time. I have waited and tried many many times over the past week and it won't activated
This 3GS phone I bought from a friend in the UK. It was locked to the carrier O2 in the UK. I had it unlocked and have been using a prepaid carrier since. I am currently studying in Spain and need help how I can fix this issue?
The nearest Apple store is 1 hour away. I took it to a local phone technician and he said it could not be fixed. I can't believe that this is true as it is just a software problem because the hardware of the phone works perfectly.
I would greatly appreciated if any expert out there could help me please!

Ok, I am student so buying a new phone is not possible ;( This experience has turned me off Apple anyway! All I did was click yes to their iTunes upgrade prompt asking me if I want to update....and now I don't have a phone and can't access all my backup etc on my iTunes because it seems the only way to get to it is with another iPhone!?
I can't believe that through the Apple recycling program I could possibly get $50 for this phone because the hardware is perfect but there is no support for this issue...feels like Apple is just trying to force everyone with hacked phone to buy new ones!

HT1695 restored jailbroken iphone now won't activate

Just tried to restore my iphone 3gs that was jailbroken, now it won't activate. It tells me "Your iPhone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable. Easiest thing I found was to manually expand any open window you're dealing with; including a webpage. To do this look at the bottom right hand corner of the window pane itself. Just below the Up and Down scrolling arrows is a corner with 3 diagonal lines. Grab that and drag in the direction (up, down, right, left, diagonal) that resizes the window to meet your needs. Once you've done this the size will be remembered when you open the window in the future. I've learned Apple doesn't like "full screen" mode. Just as well since filling the screen with an open application hides anything else you have open. And the Dock doesn't highlight or display the open Apps. Hint: I've learned to use the F3 key a lot. That way I can see everything that I've opened and change applications.

IMessage won't activate on macbook pro after os x reinstall

I did a fresh install of OS X on my macbook pro. iMessage won't activate. iMessage works fine on my ipad, iphone, and mac mini, but I can't sing in with my apple id on the macbook pro now. It worked fine before the OS X reinstallation. WHY?

First, check the status of iMessage on this page:
Apple - Support - System Status
If iMessage is down, wait tor it to come back up.
Otherwise, back up all data.
Take the steps suggested in this support article:
FaceTime, Game Center, Messages: "There was an error processing registration" when signing in
Sign out of iMessage:
Messages ▹ Preferences ▹ Accounts ▹ Sign out
Then sign back in with your verified credentials. Note that the password of some Apple ID's will expire periodically.
If you get the same error, try resetting the NVRAM.

IPhone 3g 16gb Won't activate?

I recently purchased another iPhone after my original one I had broke and I had no insurance on it. Anyway I can't seem to get this new iPhone to activate I've restored it and put in my pay monthly sim card but it just seems to sit on the "Waiting for activation this may take some time" screen. I still can't understand why it won't activate , Would it be to do with the fact that its a pay monthly sim the original sim I received when I first got my original iPhone from o2?
Any help on getting this phone to activate is really appreciated.

Sorry for the double post , Just been down 02 they said they couldn't understand why is wasn't activating and they tried another sim card in there. They think it might be a hardware problem but there not to sure although they did mention they received a email yesterday saying that Apple's activation servers were down and that Apple admitted it has nothing to do with them.
