Apple trailer size

What are the standard dimensions for the movie trailers apple puts up? I want to export a 4:3 video with the letterbox bars cut off.
720x390??
Thanks

Hey Ryan,
where did you get your footage from? you say that you edited in 720x480, but all that tells me is that you edited in NTSC DV
you say you want to fake letterbox, so you want to cut the top and bottom portion of the video or even squash your whole frame to get mattes?
this is an important question:
do you have a 4:3 (1.33) Full Frame video? do you have a 4:3 (1.78) letterboxed frame video (that already have mattes)? do you have a 4:3 (2.35) letterboxed frame video? is your video anamorphic, or standard (i am guessing standard)?
anyway, see, it can get really intense.
but i am thinking you want the whole standard spectrum. remember, these resolution sizes are for a video files that have the mattes cropped (more for web).
4:3 (1.33 FF) = 720x480 (whole image displayed)
4:3 (1.78 LB) = 720x365
4:3 (1.85 LB) = 720x350
4:3 (2.35 LB) = 720x280
these number are NOT exact, they are very close though, since it is dependant on how they are matted.

  • How to limit trail size?

    Hi,
I want to limit the trails size that each will be 1M
    how can i do it?
    thanks

Just specify the size when you add the trail information in ggsci.
    From the admin guide:
    To add a trail
In GGSCI on the source system, issue the following command.
    ADD {RMTTRAIL | EXTTRAIL} <pathname>, EXTRACT <group name> [, MEGABYTES <n>]

  • Apple Trailer Slow Bandwidth?

Hello, I have been trying to watch HD content from apple's site but I have to wait an ample amount of time for it to buffer before playing. I have a 10mb connection but I only show apple using 3mb-5mb of it. hmmm, is this the case for anyone else?

all i really want to know is if other people notice the HD trailers downloading slower than the their ability to get them. 10MB isn't so special anymore, only 1 mile from me people can get 30MB fios, but I still cant get it eventhough verizon has been working on my street for like 4 months messing with the fiber lines.
anyways, i took the trouble to get the ip addresses of each HD trailer I watch. this is my notes below and it appears to me they come from the same domain, apple. and it seems some movies are permissioned to use more bandwidth than others seeming one move gets 10MB and another gets 4MB on the same exact IP server. so you are very wrong then
High Definition Trailer STREMS AND THEIR IP ADDRESSES
They are all using the same servers
    went at 4MB

  • Quicktime won't launch in Safari when click HD videos on Apple Trailer page

    Hi everyone, good day,
Try to search the forum for a similar topic, and cannot find it, I apologize if someone else has already asked this.
I bought my new Macbook Air 11" 2 weeks ago, it worked fine before, but all of a sudden, whenever I go to Apple's Trailer page, and click on the HD videos under "download" tab, which in the past would launch QT and play, but now nothing happens. I waited and waited and QT never launches.
I created a new "CLEAN" account, and did the same, and it works perfectly, QT launched in less than a second when I click on a HD video from the trailer page.
    Any ideas guys and gals?
    Howard

I've got the same problem on a MacBook Air. The "download" links work in Firefox, but not in Safari (latest version).
Guess some links have been broken, just don't know how to fix it.

  • Apple trailer website

    Hi guys,
When i view the movies trailers on the movies section of the apple main website, they look almost perfect quality. The compression used is excellent in getting very high quality and low file size. I have been informed they use the latest H264/avc apple codec to encode the movie files.
I have also been told that I can achieve the same quality as the apple trailers by using Quicktime Pro. So, I bought quicktim pro and have tried exporting media using the that same settings as the trailers online (I am getting the info on the data rate and file size from bringing up the info on the files from within quicktime)
Sadly the quality I get is good, but no where near as god as the ones apple put up online. I get slighty better results using Mac OSX than windows in saturation quality of output is more similar to the source file.
I wondered if anyone had any suggestions or suggested resourses or if anyone on these forums did this kind of media encoding professionally and had any suggestions.
    Thanks
    Duncthepunc

The control is the important piece. You could accomplish close to the same kind of thing with QuickTime Pro, maybe, if you spliced your video into sections and encoded each section with it's own parameters then brought all of that back into one movie.
The biggest problem your average home user is going to have is not having access to an uncompressed theatrical video to start with. Even the best looking DVD's are still compressed MPEG-2 and recompressing something that's already compressed always brings up issues that you wouldn't have if you were dealing with a series of high resolution .tiff files.
You're also right that the hardware solution doesn't do it better, just faster so that you don't have to wait a long time to see the results, tweak, then re-encode...especially for HD video (which it does real time).

  • Reduce audit trail size

    Hi,
I have enabled auditing on my database and the system table is growing. I want to remove audit records older than one month and reduce the size of the system table. Please help, i am new to auditing.

    Mark D Powell wrote:
Even though Oracle has or at least had a paper on how to move the audit table out of the system tablespace the action is also listed as being officially unsupported and none of the databases I have worked on have ever moved it.
I think it is better to copy the data into another audit history table or extract it out of the database altogether than to move the sys.aud$ table.
Except on 11g Oracle provides the DBMS_AUDIT_MGMT package which inlcudes purge routines and it includes procedrues to move the audit table to another location so perhaps support has finally come around to supporting the audit table not being in system. Having had to deal with support in the past I will say that you do not want to have any unsupported set-up in use when you need help but because even though the unsupported set-up could have no bearing on your issue getting the analyst to look at the problem once he or she spots the unsupported set-up can be a problem for you.
HTH -- Mark D Powell --Yeah, it makes for a rather uh, interesting situation where they publish a ML note on how to do it and the note itself has the disclaimer that it is not supported.

  • Apple full size USB keyboard - ESC, tilde, tab, & caps lock not working

I was logging into my email account yesterday & went to tab from the username to password fields & the tab key is all of a sudden not working. It was working the day before, but not now. Upon further checking, the ESC, tilde, & caps lock buttons don't work either. So ESC, tilde, tab, & caps lock are all not working now. (???)
I have the white w/ clear base full size USB wired keyboard. When I unplug & plug back in the USB cord or shut down & restart, the light on the caps lock key does come on as it should.
I have tried many of the various fixes (Universal Access, etc) that I've found online, but to no avail.
No spills or damage & I can't imagine that they all 4 would work one day & then be too dirty to just not work the next.
    Any ideas to resolve???

All on the left side of the keyboard - might be a circuit board issue. But try deep cleaning that side of the keyboard. I have used a vacuum cleaner with a sock over the nozzle. (Keys do sometimes come loose - the sock keeps them from being sucked into the vacuum.)

  • Xref with object number greater than trailer's size value

    Hello,
a client sent to us a PDF with a strange xref table. Here is what it looks like:
    xref
    0 55
    %% standart xref entries
    200001 5
    0000052507 00000 n
    0000052793 00000 n
    0000053079 00000 n
    0000053365 00000 n
    0000053727 00000 n
    trailer << /Size 55 /Root 54 0 R /Info 53 0 R >>
    startxref
    54691
    %%EOF
Those extra five objects are well formed link annotations. According to the standart, I should ignore those objects but all the tools I used to inspect the document found no problem in it.
So what should I do: concider /Size as the upper limit for object numbering in the document, or reach every reachable object, no matter what its object number is ?

It looks like some tool is applied to add those link annotations after the document is created and is quite lazy in its indirect object management: It seems to assume that by choosing a high enough object number (>200000) there wont be any collisions, and that it can simply insert the indirect objects (probably pregenerated and available as a blob with some placeholders to replace) somewhere before the xref table and an appropriate xref section just before the trailer, otherwise ignore the document, and everything is ok.
This, of course, is a mere assumption based on the few facts presented.
But if that is the case, the originator of those PDFs should hope he never substantially has to change the process of creating the source documents as such a tool will fail miserably with many documents nowerdays.
Furthermore you should inform the originator of the documents and tell him that his documents are broken in a way that might make post-processing break them utterly.

  • How to change size/quality of Frontrow trailers

Hi, I'm trying to find a way to change the quality/size of the trailers that Frontrow plays.
On the Apple trailers site you can pick between different sizes, and now even HD ones.
Whilst I love that FR trailers play almost immediately, the quality of the movie file is probably toward the lower end.
Does it serve accorinding the bandwidth setting you have in the Quicktime software, or are you stuck with one size fits all?
    PowerBook G4 1Ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

It is likely that they are just trying to conserve bandwidth by not showing the higher quality trailers.
MediaCentral by Equinox makes a good FrontRow-like product that allows you to choose the trailer size.

  • Apple TV video playback stutters - even with SD

    Hi,
i don't know what i am doing wrong, but i have some serious video playback troubles with my new atv:
All files start to play fine, but somehow - like every few seconds - the movie seems to stuck for a very short time - just an eyeblink. it looks quite the same when you play a HD Movie on a computer and the CPU is not really capable of playing back this files...
it doesn't matter if the video files are on the internal drive or streamed over wlan - same problem...
i'll tried lots of different software for the video converting: visual hub, handbrake, quicktime pro... always the same problem...
The strange thing is - all apple trailer movies playback just fine!!! even in HD - smooth as butter...
    Please help me!
    Thanks - Matt
    my setup:
    Apple TV 2.3:
    720p - 60Hz
    TV:
    Samsung Le-40a557p2 LCD-TV
Sound via optical cable from aTV:
    Sony DAV-IS 50

Assuming you're using conservative video encoding and not pushing things to the limit, I'd say something is probably amiss with the AppleTV.
If you were just streaming I'd look at the network first of all, but you say it hapens with synced files too.
Assuming you've pulled the plug and rebooted at some stage, I think I'd do a system restore (which will delete all media so make sure any purchases are transferred first), and if it was still an issue, then I'd get the new AppleTV replaced.
Occasional glitches happen but they shouldn't happen all the time.

  • Macbook's are no longer made by apple and I really want one. I've found one that's in, Macbook's are no longer made by apple and I really want one. I've found one that's in really good condition but is it worth the £450 I'm being asked for.

    Brand:     Apple
    Screen Size:     13"
    Memory:     2 GB
Processor Type:     Intel Core 2 Duo
    Processor Speed:     2 GHz
    Hard Drive Capacity:     500 GB
Operating System:     Mac OS 10.7.4 Lion
    Product Family:     MacBook
    BootCamp:     Windows 7 Ultimate

Is it worth it TO YOU? What do you want to do with the computer? Are there other models - perhaps lower cost - that will do what you want? Don't let the "coolness factor" make your decision for you. Function is what is important.
    Best of luck.

  • Still image sizes in Premiere Pro CS5.5

I've been looking for quite a while on Adobe's help pages, these forums, and also the PDF manual, but can't find the info I'm looking for.
I'm moving from Final Cut Studio to the Adobe suite of video production for various reasons. I've purchased (though not yet received) the Production Premium upgrade. I have a new project I'm starting, and want to correctly size my images for Premiere Pro. For instance, Final Cut Studio has this handy chart:
    The video sequence frame size
If you are using this format                               is                    Use graphics with this frame size
    CCIR 601 NTSC 4:3                                  720 x 486                             720 x 547
    CCIR 601 NTSC 16:9 anamorphic               720 x 486                             853 x 486
    DV NTSC 4:3                                            720 x 480                             720 x 540
    DV NTSC 16:9 anamorphic                        720 x 480                              853 x 480
    CCIR 601/DV PAL 4:3                               720 x 576                              768 x 576
    CCIR 601/DV PAL 16:9 anamorphic            720 x 576                             1024 x 576
    720p HD                                                  1280 x 720                            1280 x 720
    1080i or 1080p HD                                   1920 x 1080                          1920 x 1080
    So for a standard 4:3 DV NTSC video, I make my still images 720 x 540 pixels. 16:9 anamorphic, 853 x 480.
For whatever reason, this type of information is completely missing in the manuals for CS5.5. I did however find this information related to Premiere Pro 4:
4:3 DV (NTSC) or ATSC SD—create and save the square-pixel file at 720x534.
    4:3 D1 (NTSC)—create and save the square-pixel file at 720x534.
4:3 DV or D1 (PAL)—create and save the file at 788x576.
16:9 DV (NTSC)—create and save the file at 864x480.
    16:9 D1 (NTSC)—create and save the file at 872x486.
16:9 DV or D1 (PAL)—create and save the file at 1050x576.
    16:9 1080i HD—create and save the file at 1920x1080.
    16:9 720p HD—create and save the file at 1280x720.
So did this apply to CS5.5 as well? Meaning if I'm creating a standard 4:3 DV NTSC video, my still images should be 720 x 534, and 16:9 anamorphic 864 x 480? Not quite sure what the distinction is between DV and D1, other than the anamorphic sizes are different.
I also know these are different from Final Cut Studio. In Apple's manuals, they come right out and say the pixel sizes FCS uses for stills are different from most video editing software. So I'm not surprised to see 720 x 534 for for 4:3 NTSC in Premiere Pro rather than Apple's size of 720 x 540.
    Thanks.

The list is valid if you save the file in square pixels.
However, I believe there is an easier way if one has
    Photoshop.
In Photosohop, you can change the image pixel
aspect ratio directly.  The drop down for that parameter lists common video formats.
Change the PAR first (e.g., 1.33)  and then, using the crop tool set for the frame dimensions, e.g., 1440 x 1080.  Save the file.  Premiere will recognize the image format.  There's no reason to keep track of what the square pixel frame size is.
You can create Photoshop Actions to somewaht automate this process.

  • Opening quicklook with spacebar from Apple Full Keyboard

    Hi,
    I have a problem with
"Opening quicklook with the spacebar on AppleFullsize keyboard from my local machine"
And yes, I only have that exact problem....
    Things that work:
    - Opening quicklook with the spacebar from my Macbook's keyboard on my local machine
    - Opening quicklook with the spacebar from my Macbook's keyboard on my remotely controlled iMac (controlled via iCloud from my Macbook)
    - Closing quicklook with the spacebar from my Macbook's keyboard on my local machine

    - Opening quicklook with the spacebar from a Logitech External keyboard on my local machine

    Thing that doesn't work:
    - Opening quicklook with the spacebar from my AppleFullsize keyboard on my local machine
I thinks this is extremely wierd. (I work in IT for 20 years now... this is not possible)
Somehow OSX only denies Quicklook from a externally attached Apple Keyboard on my Local machine. The function is obviously working as you can see when I try it remotely and with other keyboards.
Anybody who has a clue deserves Cake!
    Thanks Already

I know your Quick View post is from last November, but did you ever find a solution? I have the same issue, also using an Apple full size external keyboard on a MacBook Pro with Mountain Lion. Thanks.
