Apple Trailers really slow to load on ATV3.

Is this something Apple needs to fix or is it my problem? Everything else streams fine, Netflix etc. but trailers takes almost as much time to load the trailer as it does to watch it.

I went to settings and then to trailers then set to standard. Not as good video but loads fast no chop.

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router. Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

  • IPod touch is REALLY slow to load and won't connect to iTunes on the PC

I have an iPod touch that won't connect to my iTunes account anymore.  It is also really really slow to load.  I have powered it down and back up and it is still really slow.  Has anyone else experienced this?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer to help determine if you have a computer or iPod problem.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • REALLY Slow Internet Loading--Is there a way to make it faster?

I bought a new Macbook 3 weeks ago at the Apple store. I am a long-time pc user who took the Apple plunge mostly because I am sick of getting viruses all the time. Unfortunately, I am pretty disappointed with the speed of the Internet and REALLY slow loading of websites--especially business websites (cnn.com, WAMU, Citibank, WSJ, etc.) It's not my wireless internet connection because I did a side-by-side test. I sat on my couch with my 4 year old Dell pc and the new Macbook and went to the same websites at exactly the same time. My old Dell was always faster loading each website and in some business-related or video-related sites, about 35-55 seconds faster. Is there anyway to make the apple load websites faster or is slow internet just the price I have to pay to be virus-free? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,

Well here are some things for you.
the macbook has a 2.4 and 5 GHz wifi module. If you have a N wifi router, it may have the ability to process at the 5 GHz range. Un fortunately most receivers are operating in the 2.4 GHz range.
My recommendation is to lock your access point to either 2.4 if it is a draft N spec or G only if a B/G AP.
If you are using security to lock down your access point and are using WPA or WPA2, set the encryption to AES only.
If you have a draft N AP also set the channel width to 20/40
If you have draft N ad set it to 2.4 you will only get 130 Mb speeds on the Macbook. that is the limitation of not using 5 GHz
Check the forums of your AP manufacturer for known issues and make sure your firmware is up to date.
There is nothing inherent with Macs that make the internet slower. They use the same technology as everyone else. The issue is with how you have your AP set and how the adapter in the MB is setup.
I am going to go out on a limb and assume you do not understand the differences in the settings, frequencies, etc of wireless so it might do you good to learn a bit about it first so you better understand how to get the most out of your equipment. I hope what I have posted gets you started int he right direction

  • Quicktime Pro Really Slow to Load Movies

    Hi,
Anyone have any idea why after getting Quicktime pro it is so slow to load movies? I have an iMac with 2Gigs of Ram, less than a year old...
I read about the disk permissions thing, but it doesn't seem to have helped...
    Thanks in advance!

I don't know if this is still a problem for you, but I first noticed it when I upgraded to 7.2 in Tiger.
It seems that QT is loading the whole movie into RAM before it starts playing. This is really annoying with long movies, the beachball just spins until QT has loaded all 350 megs into a buffer somewhere. I've started using VLC instead. No settings that I can find will alter this behaviour, and I've tried moving various third-party plug-ins around to no avail.
Note: the behaviour persists with QT 7.3 in Tiger (10.4.10) but seems to have been fixed in Leopard (10.5). Since I'm slowly migrating to Leopard, I guess the problem is semi-solved.

  • My New Apple TV is Slow to load TOO....Any Solution Yet?

    Hi Everyone,
I can play every video on you tube wireless on my iMac in a split second. The same movie on Apple TV is SLOW!! Sometimes they don't even load and it goes into the screen saver mode. This has nothing to do with router or speed since I have one of the fastest connections and an airport extreme router. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks
    GE

It isn't just a case of the interface. As I understand things the you tube videos you watch on the tv are AVC files and those that you watch on the imac are not and whilst I can't be sure this is likely to mean they come from different servers.
As I say others have reported issues with watching you tube on the tv and not on their macs, some have noted that the longer the video the more likely the issue.
I myself have not seen this, but as you can see I am in an entirely different location to you (where the tv may not be quite as popular and the iphone has only just been released). Another consideration is whether you or your ISP are using proxy servers which may well explain such behaviour.

  • Apple TV 2 slow to load imac itunes library

My Apple TV 2 is very slow when loading my imac itunes library after it has not been used for a few hours.  Closing and restarting itunes on my imac solves the problem but this is getting annoying.
    late 2009 27" imac
    Mac OS X Lion 10.7.1 (11B26)
    itunes 10.4.1

Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel.

  • Copy of submitted requests really slow to load LOV

Anyone else have this issue? When trying to copy a previously submitted request it takes forever to load LOV's. I'm not sure if it is the form, FNDRSRUN, or something else. If anyone else has dealt with this please advise.
    Thanks.

It has worked the whole time it is just really slow the first time you use it in a session and gets faster the more times you do it in the same session. Oracle Applications 12.1.3. How slow when you access it first time?
What exactly am I looking for on the trace? You need to look for the statement when you click on the Copy button -- Enable trace before you open the form for the first time, reproduce the issue, disable trace and generate the TKPROF file and upload the file here (if possible).
    Thanks,

  • IMovie 08 really slow to load then prone to freezing up

    Hi
I have been using iMovie 08 for about 9 months. I have an iMac 2.4GHZ Intel with 3 GB of SDRAM running OS X 10.5.5 and more than 90 GB free space on my hardrive.
But over the past few weeks whenever I start it up it takes anywhere from 90 minutes to over 2 hours to load! And this is with nothing else running at all.
I have no events in iMovie that need loading --- no events! --- but I do have 12 open projects on my internal drive (none of them HD) each about 6 minutes long, and none with any video over 90mb.
When iMovie does finally load it works fine for awhile, anywhere from 15 minutes to 5 or 6 hours at a time. But as I work at some point it eventually always hangs up and I have to force quit it. I try leaving it up over night or over the weekend with nothing else running but it never comes back.
I have tried fixing permissions, deleting the plist, running maintenance scripts through Onyx, and even reloading the app, but nothing changes its terribly slow loading and freezing up habit. The thing just won’t load promptly and keeps hanging after awhile. At this point it’s become all but useless.
Anyone else experiencing this? Anyone have suggestions for repairing it?
    Please help. Thanks.

Those QuickTime items seem Kosher enough..
Well, if you don't want to do an update, here are a few more ideas:
You say that you don't have any other accounts. Try making a new one - in System Preferences>Accounts, and then click on the little + sign at the bottom of the left-hand column. If you're creating a password for this new account, I suggest writing it down!
Then log out of your normal account (..under the apple symbol at top-left of the screen..) and log into the new account.
If there is a difference ..i.e; if iMovie loads quickly, as normal.. then the fault lies in something within (..possibly a folder within..) your normal 'Home' folder, and not in Applications, nor the main Libraries, nor anywhere that elements of the iMovie program itself are stored. Possibly your iMovie Preference file (..see next paragraph).
If it does NOT make a difference ..i.e; it's still slow.. then Quit from iMovie, log out of that new User account and log back into your normal account, and go to <your 'Home' folder>/Library/Preferences and delete the file called "com.apple.iMovie7.plist" (..and if there are any other "com.apple.iMovie.plist" files there, delete those, too). That Preference file may be corrupt, and so iMovie may be waiting to try and find your last-run iMovie project, but under a different, corrupt, filename.
If, on restarting iMovie, that doesn't fix it, then I'd guess that there's a corrupt item within the iMovie 'package'. (..The iMovie program, in Applications, isn't just a program: if you Ctrl-click on its name and choose 'Show Package Contents' you'll find many different items which, together, make up the iMovie 'program'..)
That's the point at which to consider replacing the corrupt iMovie 'package' with a fresh one from your original disc(s). If you haven't backed up your Applications via Time Machine, then you can't Restore a pre-problem version of iMovie from your TM backups. But restoring from TM is simpler than extracting iMovie from your original disc(s). (..It's what TM is for; get a corrupt item? ..Simply and easily restore it with just a few clicks..)
So - unless anyone else comes up with better ideas! - I'd say (..after trying those diagnostics and suggestions above, and they didn't improve things..) Restore your version of iMovie. I can't think of anything else.

  • Apple TV 2: Slow Download / Loading / Ready To Play Times

I've been very disappointed so far with trying to rent TV shows to watch on my Apple TV 2 and I'm wondering if someone can explain the process it is going through before it allows you to watch something you've rented.
    Here's my experience so far:
I chose an hour long TV episode to rent / watch. Apple TV 2 tells me that it will be 45 minutes before it's ready to watch. This seems extremely long to me as I've got very fast connection speeds and the Apple TV 2 is hard connected to my ethernet (it's close enough to the router so that I can get away with not using Wi-Fi. Considering that downloads from iTunes are 720p, not 1080p, why would it need to download for an entire 45 minutes? If I try to rent the same show on my MacBook Pro, it is ready to watch within 5 minutes. Does the Apple TV 2 not allow you to start watching what is already buffered while it continues to download?
I decide to just let it download in the background and watch it another time. Two days later I turn on the Apple TV 2 and it says the show is ready to watch. So I hit play and I get "Loading..." with the spinny dashes ball. It does that for a while and then tells me: "Ready To Watch in 15 minutes". I wait for about 5 minutes before I get frustrated and just decide not to watch it again. If it has fully downloaded the content and says it's "Ready To Watch" in the menu, then why does it need another 15 minutes to load it from memory? It should be instantly available at that point.
    Any suggestions? Comments? Similar experiences?

There are two issues with the ATV2 that need fixed. I have a slow DSL internet hook up, but could still rent a movie with my ATV1 and start watching it in under 15 minutes or so. With my ATV2, I have to wait at least 1 hour to start watching an SD movie. Of course, we will never rent an HD movie on the ATV2 - tried that once - 61 hours for load time.
The second issue deals with restarting a current rent. We rented a movie tonight and let it take 55 minutes to load before we could start watching it. I assumed that if I stopped it for a few minutes (I needed to change an audio setting in the menu), that I could restart the movie without it having to totally reload. No deal. We had to wait another hour for reload. This seems like a simple software update fix. Anyone know if they are working on this?

  • Safari Really Slow To Load First Page on Startup

I'm using Safari 4.0 on OS 10.4 on a PPC. When I first launch Safari, it takes a really long time, several minutes, to load the first page which is Google. I can hear the hard drive running the whole time it takes to load. Subsequent page views are fine. I've cleaned caches and stuff, but it didn't help.

    HI David,
First, please take a moment and click My Settings on the right side of this page and complete your forum profile. Tell us which Mac, exactly which Mac OS X, and which version of Safari you are running. Thanks! To see which version of Safari you have, with Safari open, from the Menu Bar click Safari, About Safari. The version number is displayed there.
Also, you need to be running Mac OS X 10.4.11 and have the most recent Security Updates installed.
To see which version your Mac is running, from the Menu Bar in the Finder, click the Apple icon
 then click: About This Mac. The version number is displayed there.
As for the Security Update, open System Preferences/Software Updates - Installed Updates
Make sure you see this update: Security Update 2009-005 (Tiger PPC)
If not, go here and download that update. http://support.apple.com/downloads/SecurityUpdate_2009_005__Tiger_PPC
    As for trouble shooting...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Empty Cache. When you are done with that...
From the Safari Menu Bar, click Safari / Reset Safari. Select the top 5 buttons and click Reset.
Go here for trouble shooting 3rd party plugins or input managers which might be causing the problem.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1594
    Clear Google History
    1. Go to the Safari Menu
    2. Select Preferences
    3. Select Autofill tab
    4. Select the Edit button from the Other Forms Line
    5. From the AutoFill list of sites select Google.com
    6. Select Remove
    7. Select Done
    Restart your Mac.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. *Make sure you always have a minimum of 10% to 15% free disk space at all times.*

    Fixing a Mavericks Installation Problem
How to manage a failed OS X Mavericks installation | MacFixIt - CNET Reviews.
    Try these in order:
    1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
        b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and
after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears.
Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
    4. Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Streaming HD content to apple tv really slow, why?

Does anyone know why when I have fibre optic broadband, 100Mbps download speed that when I try and stream a HD tv show or film to my Apple tv (2) from either my mac or ipad it buffers and buffers, plays, then stops halfway through, buffers again for, well I have no idea because I always give up AND WATCH IT ON THE IPAD IN FRONT OF MY HUGE TV WHICH IS LUDICROUS!. I thought the apple tv started to play after it had calculated how much time it needed to upoad the rest of the film/tv show. On forums it's seems that it's ALWAYS the network that gets the blame, but mine is the best you can get and it still doesn't work. It can't be the network, I know using wireless is slower but at 50Mbps or 25Mbps it should still be fast enough, it can only be the Apple TV! I think it's the upgrades that seem to have made it worse and worse everytime there's a new one. Would it be worth resetting back to factory settings? or is there an obvious setting I need to look for?
    HELP IT'S DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!!!!!

    Hi,
I haven't because the BT hub is upstairs and the apple tv downstairs so it would be a long cable and not practical and the infinity ethernet port is being used for my mac. The thing is, it's sold as a wireless system and all you need is a good internet connection, apparently, cabling everything up is such a retrograde step. It all used to work perfectly, the only thing I can put it down to is the last appletv upgrade, that was when it seemed to stop working properly.

  • Apple TV 3 slow to load

I know there's been a lot of posts about this but has anyone actually come up with anything to helps?
    The issue I am experiencing is this;
When I first go to the ATV menu and try and load the iMac library it can take minutes to load, when it eventually loads it buffers 10-15 secs of a TV show, stalls, buffers again... these are loading locally by the way, not from the Apple store. My iMac is connected vie Ethernet to an Airport express, the Apple TV is connected via wireless, signal strength is excellent.
The only way I can avoid all of this is to restart both iTunes and the device each time I want to watch something, then it loads instantly, buffers well ahead so no stutters. If a restart of these didn't help me I would think I had a network issue, but simply restarting iTunes doesn't rectify any network problems... does it?
Anyway, it's getting very frustrating, I beginning to regret giving away my 1st Gen ATV, never had any issues with that.

but simply restarting iTunes doesn't rectify any network problems... does it?
    Certainly does, temporarily.
Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.
