Apple treats old versions of my Apple ID as if they are separate accounts?
I am transferring my data from one iPhone to another via iCloud. Overall, the transfer is going fine.
However:
A long time back when the iTunes store first launched, I created an Apple ID to purchase music. At the time, this was just a user name. However, my usual username was taken, so I created usualname1.
I found I had a hard time remembering to use this variation, so some years later, I changed the user name to drusualname, which was easier for me to remember as I'd just gotten my PhD and was starting to use this variant elsewhere.
Then a few years ago, Apple forced all Apple IDs to be changed to an email address. So I changed the account name a third time, to [email protected]. So far, so good.
(What's critical to understand is that these are not "separate accounts," which I know can't be merged, but the same account with changes to the user name.)
As I'm transferring data to my new phone today, I am being asked to enter passwords for usualname1 and drusualname. Should be no problem, as I've had the same password the entire time, right? Except that the iTunes store or iCloud or whatever is rejecting the passwords as incorrect.
So I go to http://appleid.apple.com/, and try to retrieve the password for both user names. The first thing I try is "use security questions," but I get hung up in the same spot on both - it won't accept my birth date. Now, I know my birth date hasn't changed.
So I request a password reset for each via email. Except that it's been 10 minutes and I still haven't received either reset mail. I've been using [email protected] for longer than I've had an Apple ID, and have never changed the email address on my Apple ID account.
To recap: I have only ever had one Apple ID account, but the user name has changed twice. Apple is now treating each user name as if it were a separate account, and refusing to recognize the password, my birthdate, or the email address which has been the same the entire time I've had an ID.
Help?
In Settings>Messages>Send & Receive on each phone, make sure the numbers and email addresses are seperate and you don't have the same address or number selected on both devices.

I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 and Adobe Premier 10 loaded on a Dell PC. Do I need to uninstall from the Dell before I install on a recently purchased Apple Mac Pro? There are separate disks for Mac and PC in the package.
Generally, it's ok to install on two machines as long as they are both yours and you only use one version at a time.

I bought several season of a tv series in the German Apple Store. Now they are gone due to technical problems (no backup). How do I get them back? ATTENTION: Meanwhile I moved to Switzerland and the Swiss Store doesn't offer tv series.

It is fine for me (only you can compare to your current) - I have 20542 items using 26.3 GB in 271 events

Events replace rolls (if your rolls are named - NOT the default rollxxx name - they will come across as is - to me events are rolls with much more capability and a new name - some people are VERY putoff by the change (but most love it) for reasons that I simply do not comprehend
10) What is the effective (or advised) maximum library size? I've probably got over 60GB of images in my libraries now, with 20,000 images or so. If 7 can readily digest them (and preserve all my albums, etc.), then I'd love to combine them into one, unless that will kill performance, make the database unstable, drive backups into interminable waits, etc.
The advertised max is 250,000 photos - I have about the same number of photos as you in about 1/3 the space - there are a few users here with libararies your size. With iPhoto Library Manager it is easy to maintain multiple libraries if you choose

What a crappy design. This is where Android is so much better. It seems to me like you have no control over your iPhone. It does whatever Apple has designed it to do without asking you first. On Android you can actually go in see all folders, document files, photo files etc and you have so much more control of everything. Apple s..cks!

After an erroneous contacts delete on the mac, they've been removed from iCloud and all the synced devices.
I was able to restore the contacts from a backup, but since the iCloud version is newer than the backuped one, they are deleted every iCloud sync.
Now I have an iPhone with the contacts and iCloud deactivated, but I lost all the contacts on the Mac and the iPad.
There is a way to tell iCloud "restart using the contacts I have on this device"?An iCloud backup will save the state of your Camera Roll at the time of the backup but, if you delete photos from the Camera Roll, they will not be in the next backup taken.
If you are using the iCloud Photo Library (beta) read this FAQ which will tell you what happens when you delete photos from one of the devices sharing the Photo Library.

I live in Italy but am Australian and opened my itunes account with my Italian credit card and address, but that does not let me access itunes in any English country which is what I had wanted. Apple tell me I need to open separate accounts, complete with address and tel. Yesterday they told me I could do that with an itunes prepaid card but on the Aust itunes store the card was considered invalid (obviously because it is in Euro) Any suggestions? I am sure I am not the only person living in another country who needs access to itunes in their mother tongue......how backward is Apple!
To be able to download content from another country's store you need a valid billing address in that country, and be in that country when buying from it.
Apple can only sell content where the content provider's grant them licenses to do so, so if the music etc that you want to buy isn't available in the Italian store then it's because the provider's aren't letting Apple sell it there. Do you have access to other music purchase download sites which have the content that you want ? -
Downloading mountain lion damaged my hard disc. I took my Mac Pro to apple store. They are unable to repair it and suggest I purchase a new hard disc for $160. It was a perfectly functioning Mac Pro that got damaged by downloading mountain lion.
Software upgrades do not generally damage hardware; your drive's failure must be co-incidental. On most MBP's, a hard drive is very easily replaced by a user. You might want to check out this site for both hard drives as well as install videos (check which model you have so you can check the correct video):

I just recently upgraded my MBP with an SSD; I purchased an kit with an external enclosure from OWC and cloned the current drive to the new one, installed the new drive and was done in no time. -
I bought a GoFlex desktop external hard drive and when I attached to my old mac and transfered all my files they are all in asian text? It took all weekend to transfer and when I attached it to my new mini all the transfered files are in asian ... what can I do to change them into English?
What kind of files are these?
Are the Filenames in asian also?
Can you paste some of the asian here so we can have a better guess at what's going on? -
I have verified my Applie ID/password. I have uninstalled/reinstalled iTunes. No success. What else can I try? I can't dowload anything.

This is a copy of ONEof the keys in the registry I changed as told by Apple support today. I also have changed others as instructed by GEAR software support to manually delete GEAR drivers (that I had installed but couldn't delete some of the others they mentioned from Windows system 32. Then some bright spark at work told me I need the Gear drivers so I downloaded the software and installed again.

Originally my iPhone was under a joint iTunes account with my spouse. We've recently split and now have separate plans and apple ID's. I've entered the new ID in the phone settings but when I go to update the apps on my phone, it still shows up with his accoutn and asks for his password. How do I change that?
All apps are tied to the apple ID used to buy/download them.
If you don't want to be asked for his ID-delete all the apps and download them under your account. -

Some country's might not include tax in their prices, and if you changed or added your credit card details whilst making the purchase then a small temporary holding charge may also have been placed - in which case that should disappear within a few days (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3702). Some apps also then allow you to make in-app purchases (though you can disable that via Settings > General > Restrictions)
