Apple TV 2 connects to network then drops connection

I have had an Apple TV 2nd generation for a few weeks now and it has worked perfectly. I've been staying at a friend's house for a few days so, I took it there and connected it to their network and it worked fine. I have now brought it home, and it won't work properly. I went to settings and set it to my home wireless network and it sees it and connects properly. Then after 3 of 4 minutes, it disconnects from the network and I have to reconfigure it, only for it to disconnect again. I tried resetting the router but to no avail (mind you I have an Ipad 2 and a home computer connected to the network that doesn't lose connection). I have tried unplugging my apple tv, plugging it in, holding the down arrow and the menu button so that it resets but this has not helped. Some of the forums say that after doing this I should see an option to restore or use a diagnostic utility, but that is not the case when mine restarts. I have also tried going in to setting to restore it to factory defaults,  but I get an error message saying "apple TV can't download the latest update right now. Try again later." It seems absurd that I should need to download something to restore it to factory settings....since I want to restore it to fix a network connection error! I would appreciate any suggestions since I'm not sure what else to try. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Have you tried rebooting or restoring the device?

    Hi, Abril_Perez17.
This may be related to a new feature embedded in iOS7 that shows all purchased music by default.  Go to Settings > Music, then turn off Show All Music.  See if the issue ceases once the feature has been disabled.  This information is located on page 63 of the user guide below.

  • Connection to network drive drops

Here's my info in case this helps anyone/Apple solve the networking issues with Leopard.
I have an Airport Extreme base station with an attached USB drive. My MBP is experiencing dropped connections similar to what others have. My Mac Pro doesn't seem to have a problem staying connected to the internet, but Firefox has slowed to the point where it's not even usable. Safari works fine. However, I frequently lose the connection between my Mac Pro and the attached network drive even though I am still able to access the internet through the base station just fine.
Changing the DNS setting on the Base Station to the OpenDNS DNS solved the Firefox issue.

No.  The problem will have to be resovled by Western Digital.   Many Western Digital drives have their own firmware which will need to be upgraded to meet standard.   Better would be to get a hard drive from http://www.macsales.com/ which makes every effort to maintain Mac compatible hard drives.

  • IMac connects to network, won't connect to Internet

My 27" iMac connects to our wifi network fine but cannot connect to the Internet. A tweet or e-mail will every once in a while bust through, but Web pages don't load at all.
A MacBook Pro in the same room connects to the same network and the Internet just fine.
    This just suddenly happened today.
I've restarted a couple times and run Applejack but nothing helps. I've also flushed the DNS cache.
    Any suggestions?

wondering if you've found a solution? my brand new iMac seemed to work for a few hours, and now, not.
I opened the box on the new iMac, and updated software, uploaded some programs (skype, dropbox, firefox). Everything seemed to be working fine.
    Then i added firefox sync.
is it a coinicidence that now  i have connection problems?
skype connects and drops, connects and drops
efforts to load web pages are successful and then fail.
the ipad also semed to be failing, suggesting a problem with my router.
    wired browsing was working fine.
Came home, and added firefox sync to home mac.
Now i cant use firefox without powerbook dropping internet.
However, at home i am on safari without a problem.

  • Imac connects to internet but wont load then drops connection

I bought my first mac a couple of months ago with an imac 21.5 i5. I love the os and im glad i made the swithc BUT, it was slightly slower than my very cheap laptop on the internet and slower than all other computers in my house and iphone at oading web pages, it often struggled to load a page, said unable to load ect but then would work fine for the past 2 days it has connected to the internet but will NOT load a page, or it starts to then stops, then wont reload, it drops wifi then picks it back up. all other computers such as the one im typing from work fine.
I am very dissapointed with the mac now and would seriously think twice about buying another, the store i bought i from was no help, i cant believe apple dont have support for products inder warranty. even working it is slower than my laptop that cost 20% of the price. I own a company tha relies heavily on the internet and this being my business computer has been a massive blow for me. I have changed nothing on the computer since getting it, no system preference changes or changed router ect and i have no clue what this could be. I could inderstand if it wasnt picking up with internet connection but it is, It is 5 feet from the router.
If i cant sort this it will be back to pc for me, i cant afford to have this happen to me again and ruin a couple of days of work. all in all I have lost a lot of faith in this brand.

  • Connected to network but no connectivity- need help

The Iphone shows network connectivity (bars on left) but when some one calls me the phone appears to be ringing to them but there is no ring on my side.  If I try to call someone the call just hangs and when I "end call" it goes to the home screen and when i go to the dialpad the old call is still "dialling".  I am not able to use the phone service at all.
The previous time it occured I just reset the Iphone using Itunes and in the process lost all the data but the phone recovered.  can some one help me with this?
By the way this problem occured after i changed the OS to 5.

If you look at wifi settings what IP address has been assigned to the iPad? If it starts with 169 then the iPad never successfully connected to the router. What security setting are you using? Some say WPA2 works best. You can also search the ipad wifi forum for similar problems since this problem comes up at least one a day.

  • My Magic Mouse loses its connection randomly and then re-connects later. Can anyone suggest why this happens? The batteries are fresh.

Lately my magic mouse has been losing its connection quite randomly. It usually reconnects soon after. I bought a cheap USB mouse to keep me going during these unexpected down-times. The batteries are fresh and the switch is on. I've uninstalled and re-installed the mouse in Bluetooth, but the problem recurs.

Try a PRAM reset.  That usually helps bluetooth problems.

  • IMac connects to network but internet connection really slow.

    HI all
I have a Belkin F5D9630-4 router and have WPA security on it. The mac can connect to the network but when i try and surf the web the connection is really slow and most of the time just times out.
Any suggestions on how to fix this problem would be great.

    Hi macman3000!
Try using WPA2-Personal instead of WAP. You must access your router through it's main web page in order to make this changes. Make sure you change your security parameters in your Mac also to WPA2-Personal.
I have a Belkin F5D7230-4 and after a long way making it able to connect wireless to my iMac, I had to change the security parameter to WPA2-Personal because of the same problem you have.

  • Wireless Network - can't connect!!

Lenovo N 3000 running Windows Vista Business
    Product 0769A64
I can't connect to wireless internet. Am at the end of my tether and hope it's something simple!
This is what's happening so far...
Using Access Connections, I can use the wireless radio to find the network I want. It's a public wireless connection (in a library). It has signal strength of 60%. This has been more than fine for me in the past. Everyone else is using it so why can't I!?!?!
When I try to connect through Access Connections, I get the following message:
Unable to connect to the selected wireless network. You may need to configure your system to support the authentication method that is in use. Do you want to configure now?
I click Yes, (don't really know what I'm doing at this point so just OK out of that window)
Then it tries to connect. It then goes through Applying wireless settings - OK, then when it says 'waiting for association, it fails.
If I connect through networks, I can connect to the local network only, but not the internet.
What I've tried to fix it (don't even know if any of this is relevant...):
Made sure it's automatically setting IP address.
    Switched off Windows Firewall
    Boot in safe mode.
Checked the network adapter and it is working properly and has up to date drivers.
In Control Panel- Network connections, under Wireless Network Connections, I've disabled/enabled TCP/IPv6 and TCP/IPv4 in various combinations.
Thought I may as well let the cat have a go at fixing it after all that lot.
    Run command prompt as administrator.
ipconfig /release shows: No operation can be performed on Wireless Network connection while
    it has its media disconnected
    ipconfig /all shows:

Then a load of stuff about Tunnel adapters - *6, *7 and *9 are discomnnected. Apparently.
Tried to run PC Doctor on the network card and it passed the following tests:
    PCI Express Status Test
    Wireless Connectivity Test
    Wireless signal Strength Test
    Network Link Test
But it couldn't run the :
    TCP/IP Network Communication Test
Any help at all would be incredibly gratefully received!!
    Thanks, Claire.

I just purchased a Thinkpad from Lenovo with the Intel 5100 AGN wireless card in it. I kept losing my connection to the Internet. I searched on the web for a solution and tried a number of the suggestions, one of which solved one problem (access connections was turning off the wireless radio during inactivity to "save power"), but the problems persisted, even after I let Windows manage the connections.
The first symptom I noticed was that Windows could not find any networks. The next one I noticed was that the signal strength would drop very low. I even saw that when the laptop was 2 feet away from the router.
I finally came to the point where I was suspecting the Intel 5100 AGN itself. I have 2 other computers that use my wireless router and they have no problems, and people have come over with laptops and have not had any problems.
The router I have is D-Link Di-624 Xtreme-G. It seems to work just fine. I reconfigured the router to not use its Super-G mode. That appears to have eliminated the problem. It is still too early to be sure since the problem is intermittent, but it has stayed connected for a day now (whereas I used to lose the connection frequently in any given day).
I can't say for sure if the problem is with the 5100 AGN card, but I suspect it is. Given that I have never had this kind of problem with other computers (with varying cards) but only with this new one, the culprit seems to be the Intel 5100 AGN.
There are a lot of posts on the web about this very problem and no one seems to have found the answer.
I may have fixed the problem within my home by reconfiguring the router, but I can't do that for other routers (eg in a coffee shop). Other people have "solved" the problem by buying a new router (an expensive solution). The real fix has to be in the 5100 AGN itself, either a better driver (I have the latest version 12.1.0.14), or some card configuration (or else somehow replace it with a better wireless card).

  • Airport Extreme problems--drops connection and can't change password

Hi, I am having multiple problems with my Airport Extreme (n) base station. All of these problems occur on all three of my machines. MacBook Pro 2007 model, MacBook Pro i7 2.66, and iMac 24".
    1. Sometimes the airport connection works, but then drops off for hours at a time with no explanation, and then starts working again by itself. The green light is lit all the time. Also the airport bars on my menu bar are showing that it's connected. However when I go through diagnostics it says I don't have a connection and to restart the modem, which I do to no avail.
    2. When it is connected, there is often strange download activity (shown via istats menu), even when no applications are open. It's around 200k. When I turn the airport off the downloading stops. This only happens via airport base station connection, not when connected via ethernet.
    3. I have tried numerous times to reset my AE base station password via airport utility. I go through the process. It tells me the configuration changes were successful and then it restarts the base station. When I reconnect the airport connection, it still uses the old password. I cannot get it to actually accept the new password.
Does anyone have similar experiences? I am not sure what to do and have not seen any simiar threads in the forum.
    Thanks for any help,
    lula

Yes, I am pretty sure it isn't that. That modem and it's connection works fine, but it's on the other side of the house.
These various problems (connection dropping, mysterious download when no apps are on, and not being able to change password) all started about two months ago, before that I never had problems with the airport. I have had the same ADSL modem (provided by my phone/cable company) the whole time.
What possible problems do you think the provided modem could cause?
And why am I not be able to change my airport password? That part really puzzles me.
Do you think if I bought a new modem--one completely independent and not connected to a particular isp it would solve the problem. I am willing to try that, but I don't know if it will make a difference.

  • Not able to start the Connection Digital Networking Replication Agent Service

    Hi All,
I am getting the following alert through RTMT, when i tried to start the service in Unity Connection Serviceability, it doesn't start.   Unity Connection 8.5.1.  It is still in the stopped status, Although service is not important, however it is pushing a lot of rtmt alert.   Could you please help me how to start this Connection Digital Networking Replication Agent Service.
Service operational status is DOWN. Connection Digital Networking Replication Agent.
    Thanks
    Barry

Thanks for Nadeem and Aokanlawon, for the quick reply.
    1.  You are right  i got only one cluster i understand its not working,  However howcome this service was started in pub UC and was working. I will disable anyway now as i got only one cluster. It all started when I started to fix the following alerts which was pushed by sub Unity Connections(Branchsite)
Failed to retrieve DbSpace usage information when running the "Monitor the Unity Connection databases" SysAgent task.
This alert started coming after there was a network connection drop between HQ cucm and the branch sub UC, after the drop, all ports disconnected between these two servers, services deactivated in Sub UC, after the network connection back again, ports connected back and the most of the services activated.  However the following services were not in the running state in Sub UC.   I found these information from the sysagent trace log.  I thought to fix this error  is to start the Connection Database Proxy in Sub UC.  However this has stopped the following service 'Connection' Database Proxy' and 'Connection Digital Network Replication Agent' in Pub UC.  I managed to start Connection Database Proxy in Pub UC, however Connection Digital Network Replication agent is now in deactivated status.

    connection mailbox sync
    connection message transfer agent
    connection notifier
    Optional services
    Connection Database Proxy
    Connection Digital Networking Replication Agent

    2. How do I stop the alert from sub UC
Failed to retrieve DbSpace usage information when running the "Monitor the Unity Connection databases" SysAgent task.

  • Error: EPrint not Enabled, Also: Printer not connected to Network

I have been using this printer and EFax until recently when EFax wont work.   I am connected to Network, I can use printer for printing from laptop, IPAD and Iphone.   Have good connection. When I attempt to send EFAX, I get "Your printer is not connected to Network"   Then I am told to enable EPrint,  IT IS enabled.    Printer is great, EFax wont work.

This reply may be late for this user, but it might be helpful for any current users.
I managed to change the modem's IP address to match that of the printer. In my case the printer worked fine wirelessly until I moved to a new place and installed a new modem. Here is what I did to solve the problem:
    1. At the printer, click on the wireless button, wireless settings, print network configuration page. This will print a page with the printer's IP address (in my case: 192.168.0.13)
    2. I accessed my modem via the internet browser, typing 192.168.1.1 (this is one of the default addresses (192.168.0.1 is also common). Default user and password is admin (usually). There I changed the modem's IP address to 192.168.0.1 and the range to start at 192.168.0.13 (my printer's IP address).
    3. I saved the settings (the modem will reboot and you will be offline, it may take some 20 seconds before the modem is visible again).
    4. Reconnect to the modem and check if internet is still working. Then try to install the printer again.
This worked for me after I read several other postings.
    Good luck!

  • MS Access connectivity gets slow when connecting insidde network domain

    Hello,<o:p></o:p>
We've created an application based on Excel VBA that connects to an access DB located at the file server in our network domain. Now I'm installing
same app in another server for another domain, but the connection is really slow so the app hangs while retrieving information from the .mdb file located at the server.<o:p></o:p>
I created a local environment in my computer to test and realized as as soon as I connect the network cable the connection to the DB get slow, but
when I unplug the network cable the app start to responding as usual.<o:p></o:p>
I'm using Ole DB jet 4.0 with the following connection string:<o:p></o:p>
    cnt.Open "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source= MasterDB ;Jet OLEDB:Database Password= 12345;"<o:p></o:p>
It seems that the problem it is related to some authentication on the server that makes the connectivity slow because it has not sense to me that
when I connect the network cable and log into the domain the speed goes down even if the application is looking to the DB file in mi local hard drive.<o:p></o:p>

    I'd try them over here.

  • Connection recv error in jolt connection

    Hi,
We have Java GUI client connecting to the Tuxedo server thru Jolt.
When we try to do some operation that connects to server after the GUI is idle for a about an hour we get Jolt error "Connection recv error" , sometimes we also get the error "Connection send error".
Wanted to know what causes this error, we are connecting the GUI in RETAINED mode option.
I could not get much in edocs on this, please let me know anyone encountered such problem and what really causes to throw this error.
I have pasted the error below:

    Hi Wayne,
    Thanks for your reply.
The disconnect seems to be happening due to network problem.
Can you please help us understand the difference between a connection recv and connection send error? When we get a recv error does that mean a message was sucessfully sent to the server and the error was in receiving the response? [Wayne] I assume you use "call" method of JoltRemoteService class. This
method encapsulates send and recv action in a try{} block. So whether
send or recv throw exceptions depends on when the connection
disconnected. I guess most exceptions were regarding send. When a recv
error happens, I think the message was sent successfully except some
rare situation, that is message transmission seems OK for client, but at
    that time the network disconnected.
We tried with ANY option and the problem doesnt seem to happen when we connect with -j ANY option. We have a range of 50 ports reserved for Jolt connection and network maybe dropping the idle connections.
What is difference in using -T option with ANY or just the RETAINED option, as it looks using ANY option without -T specified is same as RETAINED option. Will the server be able to push/connect to GUI in case of ANY option after the timeout value is reached?[Wayne] I think -T option will override the RETAINED option. That is to
say even you give a retained mode for connection, -T may also disconnect
the clients in a specified idle time. But if the client is closed due to
inactive timeout, JSH should have some message in ULOG like "... timed
    out due to inactivity".
There is no error logged in ULOG.
