Apple TV 2 loses wired network during sleep

Says " not connected to network" after sleeping. It is wired to my router. Resetting fixes. Does it every time.

I spoke to Apple support and they said that the 5(ghz) frequency did confilict with wireless phones.  As my phone was sitting right next to the Apple TV 2 I then reverted back to my original setup which was hardwired.  Since then I have not had a problem.  They did add, Apple support that is, it is best to have the Apple TV 2 plug in with an ethernet cable as this cuts out any interference from phones or other networks.  I to am using an Airport Extreme and have not had any issues.  I do know that there was a recent update for the Extreme so it might be worth checking your firmware version.  The latest one is 7.6.  If you have an iPhone I would recommend the Airport Utility as this means you don't have to log onto your Mac/PC to see if you have any issues.

  • IMac forgets network during sleep.

I recently had a tech out to set up a Time Capsule.  After he was done, my mid-2010 iMac disconnects from wifi while in sleep mode and upon waking, it shows my own network at the bottom of the network selection in the drop-down list below the wifi icon.  How do I reset it to both stay connected, and remember which network is mine?

Hi, this has worked for a few...
Make a New Location, Using network locations in Mac OS X ...
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2712
    10.7 & 10.8…
System Preferences>Network, top of window>Locations>Edit Locations, little plus icon, give it a name.
    10.5.x/10.6.x/10.7.x instructions...
System Preferences>Network, click on the little gear at the bottom next to the + & - icons, (unlock lock first if locked), choose Set Service Order.
The interface that connects to the Internet should be dragged to the top of the list.
Instead of joining your Network from the list, click the WiFi icon at the top, and click join other network. Fill in everything as needed.

  • Apple Remote app on wired network: help please

I am trying to use the remote app to control my apple tv. I noticed that my bedroom apple tv unit was showing up in my app but not the living room apple tv. After further inspection I found that the ethernet cable was not plugged into the bedroom apple tv unit so I was on wifi to control the apple tv.
We do a lot of streaming in my house and having 4 apple tv's on wifi would just kill the streaming. From what I see, the device(iPhone) using the remote app and the Apple TV you want to control have to be on the same wifi network.
Is there a way to use the remote app when the apple tv's are connected via ethernet cable? They are still on the same network but the app doesn't recognize them if they are on ethernet.
Basically if I unplug my ethernet cables from the apple tv's the app works but when the ethernet is plugged in the app doest see the apple tv's present. Any way around this issue>

I am definitely on the same network. After about an hour I finally got it to work. My apple tv was plugged into my apple wifi router which is connected to a 24 port switch. I connected the apple tv directly to the switch and it came up instantly. I then plugged it back into the apple router and it continued to work. I am not sure why none of the apple tv's would not initially work when plugged in directly to the router since it is the same network. So I did this to all the apple tv's and they are all now working.
Home sharing was enabled on all the apple tv's. The only thing I did was connect to switch first(got a good connection via the app) then reconnected it to the apple wifi router.

  • Is the screen supposed to flash during sleep?

Just got the new 17". When I put the computer to sleep, not only does the blue sleep light flash on the front latch, but the right side of the screen flashes a dim white as well (at a constant rate, but different pace than the latch light).
Is this a new "feature" or is something defective here?
I also noticed that the Apple logo on the back flashes during sleep (most noticeable when the lid is closed). Maybe this IS an inteded feature after all. Sure is annoying though...

Merci pour le truc, j'avais le même problème et cela l'a résolu (sans avoir besoin de désinstaller MS Office). Je suppose que le problème était que le tube fluorescent de l'affichage captait l'énergie émise par le module bluetooth.
    The same in English:
To solve the "flashing in sleep" problem, desactivate the following bluetooth option in system preferences: "Allow devices to wake this computer".
It think that the explanation is that when this bluetooth option is active, the transmitter is activated at regular intervals. The fluorescent tube next to the antenna picks up some of the energy and emits a faint glow.

I have an iMac (Mid 2010) and am running 0sx 10.8.5 and the WiFi always loses connection during sleep mode. I have seen numerous different solutions none of which seem to work. Can anyone help?

Test after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Back up all data before making any changes.
    1. Make sure the network is on the preferred list by following these instructions. It's important to read the article carefully, as it's the starting point for any further efforts to solve the problem. If you skip any of the steps, the problem may not be solved. Make sure the box marked
Remember networks this computer has joined
    is checked.
    2. Follow the instructions in this support article under the heading
Symptom: After restarting or waking from sleep, my computer might not connect to the Internet
    3. Reset the PRAM.
    4. Make a note of all your settings for Wi-Fi in the Network preference pane, then delete the connection from the connection list and recreate it with the same settings. You do this by clicking the plus-sign icon below the connection list, and selecting Wi-Fi as the interface in the sheet that opens. Select Join other network from the Network Name menu, then select your network. Enter the password when prompted and save it in the keychain.
    5. From the Location menu at the top of the Network preference pane, select Edit Locations. A sheet will drop down. Click the plus-sign button to create a new location. Give it any name you want. In the new location, set up the Wi-Fi service with the same settings you used before. Click Apply and test.
    6. Launch the Keychain Access application. Search for and delete all AirPort network password items that refer to the network. Make a note of the password first.
    7. Repair permissions on the startup volume.
    8. Turn off Bluetooth and test.
    9. Reset the System Management Controller.
    10. This step shouldn't be necessary, but has been advised by Apple Support in some cases, apparently as a workaround for a bug. Open the Energy Saver pane in System Preferences. If applicable, click the padlock icon in the lower left corner to unlock the settings. Enter your administrator login password when prompted.
Select the Power Adapter tab and uncheck the boxes marked
              Wake for Wi-Fi network access
    and
              Enable Power Nap...
if present. Then, if the computer is a MacBook, select the Battery tab and uncheck
              Enable Power Nap...
    11. Reinstall OS X.

  • AirPlay network discovery during sleep after OS 7.0 Update

After updating my Apple TV3 to OS 7.0 (6897.5), when it goes in to sleep it is no longer network discoverable as an AirPlay option on iPad/iPhone/iPod/Mac.
On OS 6.2 it was always showing as an AirPlay option when in sleep and would wake and play when audio/video was sent to it.
It now manually requires waking for it be discoverable on the network for an AirPlay option.
I have another Apple TV3 still on OS 6.2, which is discoverable during sleep and wakes when audio is sent to it, very hesitant to update now due to this issue.
It seems like more of a feature removal than a software/hardware fault?
Anyone else noticed this issue? Or found a fix?

  • Apple TV loses wireless network connection when using AirPlay from iPad or iPhone 5

Our Apple TV loses connectivity to our wireless network while using Airplay from our iPad or iPhone 5. This started occurring after the latest iOS update. We are able to wirelessly stream movies from iTunes without any problem. This issue occurs only when using AirPlay. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    I have a:
new MBPr 15" late 2013 with dedicated graphics card
    new airport extreme base station
    3rd generation apple tv
    iPhone 5s
200mb download speed (not important, as streaming video on your local network has nothing todo with outside bandwidth)
All equipment is up to date software wise. Airplay mirroring from my laptop to my apple tv is ok. I get frequent lag, pixelation, audio skip (every 10 mins or so).
I'm using the 5ghz specturm to connect to the airport express so shouldn't have any inteference from my neibours (accordiing to iStumbler i'm the only person with a 5ghz setup using channel 30). I've tried connecting apple tv wirelessly and wired. No issues streaming from my iPhone or an iPad!
Surprisingly, using apps such as Beemer or Air Video Server on my MBP work better than native mirroring when it comes to video play back.
Strange when you think how Air Video works:
    Video file lives on MBP
    iPhone connects to laptop
Video plays on iPhone and is sent to Apple TV via Air Mirroring
    Rather than:
    Video played on laptop
    Video sent to Apple TV
Seems bizzare that my iPhone can handle better streaming than my pro laptop.

  • Why does apple tv 2 lose connection with netgear router through a wired connection?

I have Apple TV 2 connected to a Netgear wnder3700 through a wired connection.  The Apple TV is up-to-date.  However, from day 1 (before firmware updates and currently) apple tv will lose internet connection.  All other devices on the network remain connected.  the only solution is to physically unplug the the apple tv and let it reconnect on reboot.  Same issue exists on a wireless connection.

I would update the firmware of the router

What is the optical output bit/sample rate of an Apple TV3 when using the wired network connection. 16/48 or 24/48.

It doesn't matter what type of network connection it has its output is 16/48.

  • My magic mouse loses connection during sleep

My Magic mouse loses connection during sleep mode. I also get error message my external usb storage drive was disconnected improperly. I have to unplug and plug in drive generally, sometimes it is still present. For the mouse I generally turn it off and on and allow it to be found again.

This is a late 2009 imac.

  • Apple TV not detected by iTunes in a wired network

    Hello,
I thought my Apple TV was supposed to be found by my network automatically. I am wired in a network of 4 computers all in one room. Do i have to plug the Apple TV to the computer first to set up the network? My iTunes does not see the apple TV

Have you checked your network configuration - (Not a file but the actual set up)? I know my ATV is in my living room, and I had to run a cable directly back to my router. If you try to run a router off of router (ie not a switch) the apple TV will not work. Are you running a router off of a router?
BTW, I know this sounds crazy but my tivo / xbox and other devices do not have a problem with this but the ATV did.

  • Apple TV Device does not appear on Wired network

I just set up Apple TV on a wired ethernet network. The apple TV has an IP address and can go online to youtube and iTunes store, but it doesn't appear under devices for any of the itunes on the network. I've tried opening up ports 5353 and 3689 on the computers and on my router, but the problem is still there. Is there anything Else I can try?

There's quite a few topics right now about this. It appears to be the current version of iTunes that's causing problems. I bought ATV recently and it's never shown up in my devices. I'm anxiously awaiting the next version of iTunes and hope they resolve the issue.

  • Mac mini crashes often during sleep

I have a mac mini about 6 months old.  Everything was great for a while but for the past few months it's been crashing every 1-2 days during sleep (I go to wake it up and it says it restarted after a problem).  I have a bunch of crash reports, I'll paste the most recent below...
When it first started I ran apple hardware test which found bad RAM.  This was replaced by company but crashes continue (apple hardware test finds nothing wrong now).
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Completely uninstalled virtualbox and crashes persist.
I think I had some trouble with my router in the past but have switched to using a TimeCapsule.  I will try unplugging from my wired router and go with just wifi next.
If that doesn't work will try the suggestion for a new monitor cable.
After that I'll try replacing RAM with factory RAM again.
...and if that doesn't work Maverics should be out by then and I can do a complete OS reinstall.

  • MBP takes long time to restore wired network connection after wake-up

    Hello...
My Mid-2010 MBP (MacBookPro6,2) has been experiencing this problem recently -- Whenever I wake up the computer from sleep, it needs approximately 10 seconds to restore its wired network connection. I know there are other annoying connection issues with MBP's WiFi/AirPort out there, but I'm talking about the wired connection here.
Maybe some don't even think this slowness is a problem at all, but this laptop used to be network-ready right after wake-up until 3~4 months ago. That was around the time when I upgraded to SSD and changed some settings via pmset, not sure if that's the culprit. It is now running OS X 10.8.5 and its pmset settings are:
    Battery Power:
    lidwake              1
    ttyskeepawake        1
    hibernatemode        3
    gpuswitch            2
    hibernatefile        /var/vm/sleepimage

I'd appreciate help of any kind
    Thanks,
    zuoy

Maybe try this, i am not sure that it will resolve the problem, but it is worth trying anyways.

    Hi All,
I've seen this problem multiple times, especially with Windows 7 64-bit versions and Enterprise edition.  The source of the problem appears to be the Bonjour service that is installed in the background and set to "Automatic" when installing certain 3rd
party applications.  Apple applications like iTunes and Adobe applications like Acrobat Professional and Creative Suites have been known to cause this problem.  I've also seen virtualization software like VMWare and VirtualBox cause similar issues
    with network adapters.
The solution in most of the cases I've come across has been to stop and disable the Bonjour service.  The Bonjour service also masquerades as a service with a name of the format "##Id_String1.6844F930_blahblahblah".  Here's how to disable this service
    in Windows 7:
Right-Click on Computer > Select 'Manage'
Expand the 'Services and Applications' section in the bottom of the Left-Nav dialog and Select 'Services'
Sort the Services list by name and look for either "Bonjour" or the "##Id_String..." name mentioned above
Right-Click on the service and select 'Properties'
Click the 'Stop' button to stop the service
Select 'Disabled' from the 'Startup type' drop down list
    Click 'Apply' and then 'OK'
Reboot your machine and see if the "Multiple Networks" issue is resolved.  If so, you should have internet connectivity again.
    Hope this helps.
    cheers,
    Aaron

  • Slow 10.8 time machine backup to wired network

I have a MacPro with a big backup drive and a MacBook Pro that backs up to it over a wired network. Ever since I upgraded to ML, my backups have been extremely slow. [An incremental of 70 MB can take a few hours. A full backup reports weeks, and gets slower and slower. I've aborted after 30 days and 50% complete.]
I plugged in a drive directly and that worked fine.
I've tried lots of things I've read about in multiple places: repairing disks and permissions, resetting time machine, turning off spotlight and antivirus. I'm not sure what else to try.
One thing to note: If I mount the  sparse backup image volume manually and copy a large (1GB) file to it, it seems to work fine. However, when TM is running it appears to get slower and slower.  It becomes extremely slow to access both in the finder and in the terminal [like minutes if I type ls].
Any suggestions offered would be greatly appreciated.

After a safe boot, TM still isn't working normally. It does usually work, it is just glacially slow (backing up over wired gigabit ethernet).
On my just-backed-up laptop, I made a 2GB file from /dev/random. It took about 5 hours for TM to complete.
Note that if I manually mount the backup drive and copy the file, it copies in about a minute.
This is my trimmed log during the TM backup.
I've deleted the following from the log to shorten it:
every 15 minutes I get long messages from CalendarAgent, starting with:
CalendarAgent[469]: [com.apple.calendar.store.log.caldav.queue] [Account refresh failed with error: Error Domain=CoreDAVHTTPStatusErrorDomain Code=401 "The operation couldn’t be completed. ...
every 55 minutes I get lots of long spam from GoogleSoftwareUpdateDaemon, starting with:
GoogleSoftwareUpdateDaemon[5576]: -[KeystoneDaemon logServiceState] GoogleSoftwareUpdate daemon (1.1.0.3659) vending:
    this includes: kernel[0]: CODE SIGNING: cs_invalid_page(0x1000): p=5574[GoogleSoftwareUp] clearing CS_VALID
