Apple TV 2 not showing all movies in itunes

Hi I have video podcasts and other movies that play ok in itunes, but they do not appear in Apple TV 2.
Can anyone shed any light on why this may be?
Thanks

What you need to do is (with the movies that aren't showing up) Select the incompatible videos in iTunes on your computer, Click Advanced at the top of the window, and select create "Create an iPad or Apple TV version" then that should do the trick.
Thank you. Most people like to give a round about way that never works. This worked. Thanks

  • My Apple TV does not show all of the movies in my library.

All are in the movies category, no home videos here.  It almost seems to be movies that I have removed from a device.  At least some of the ones not showing up were recently removed from my iPad.  Came back from a trip and removed some of the movies that I had watched, but then my wife wanted to see them so we tried to pull them up on the Apple TV, but no luck.  I am not 100% sure that they were showing up on the Apple TV before, but I know they have been watched on my iMac.  I know all about the miscategorization of others but that is not an issue here.  Any thoughts?  Does the Apple TV have a limit???  Is it better to put them into a playlist when I want to see them?  I have about 15 more to add and if still no luck I may reload iTunes and let it refind the library and see what happens.  Thanks in advance for any help!
BTW my OS is iOS version 7.0.5, but that was not in the list.

I have the entire original Star Trek series on the computer, all tested, watched and working fine.  They are all MPEG-4 video files, and I can watch them on multiple computers and TVs when pulling directly from my network.  They are labeled "Star Trek Episode 15 Shore Leave" and so on.  Before I went out of town I loaded episodes 1-12 onto my iPad to watch while traveling.  Again, they played fine.  When I returned I had only watched the first three, so when I resynced my iPad I removed those three (episodes 1-3) and put on some other movies.  Tonight when I went to watch them on the Apple TV I find that those three specific episodes are missing from the Apple TV list, so the ST episodes start with #4.  Just kind of weird.  These episodes are all the same version, done at the same time, the same way, no differences between them, even in size.  Must can't figure out what is keeping them off of the list but it seems to be more than just coincidence that the three I notice missing are ones that I just removed from my iPad.
Also as to the iOS version you are correct, my typo, should be 10.7.5.
Thanks for the help and just to clarify I checked with one of my purchased movies as well as the manual ones and two do not show up, both again removed with the last sync.  But they are still in the library!  Can't figure it.

  • 1st gen apple tv not showing all movies synced from iTunes.

I have 30 movies in iTunes library that I synced to my 1st gen Apple TV.  I have viewed several of these movies in the past on the Apple TV but some are not coming up in the listings anymore.  I go back to iTunes and still see that they are still stored/synced to the Apple TV.  Why can't I see them listed anymore? (Can't see them under 'Watched' or 'Unwatched')

    Hi clur,
I'm sorry to hear that you are having issues with your Apple TV and the most recent iTunes 12 upgrade. If you continue to have issues with your 1st Gen Apple TV not showing up in iTunes, you may find the troubleshooting steps outlined in the following article helpful:

  • Apple TV not showing all of my itunes library

I recently bought an Apple TV, but I'm having a problem with the Apple TV showing all of the content in my iTunes library. For example on my computer I have Shrek 1, 2 and 3, all play fine on my computer, but from my Apple TV I only am able to see Shrek 2. What do I need to do to have my Apple TV recognize my whole iTunes library?

what is the source of your movies?
i already know the answer (from your removed post), but if you can confirm it.
if you purchased them from the itunes store then they are already appletv compatible.
if you have ripped them from DVD (and i believe you have) then we you already know the rules regarding that.
as a general rule, just because something is in itunes does not automatically make it appletv compatible. if it is not showing up on the appletv, it seems it is not compatible.

  • Apple TV 2 not showing all Mobile Me Galleries

I have Mobile Me with over 100 albums (I still cannot figure out why they will not let me sort them in alpha numeric order (they show up based on the next album created is at the top of the list).
My Apple TV 2 only shows like 12 albums. I cannot scroll down my entire list. There are some albums further down the list that I wanted to show someone and I cannot access them. Can anyone tell me how to make ALL of my albums show up on the Apple TV 2?
If you know the answer to the sorting of albums in Mobile Me I would appreciate that answer too, but will post it in the correct forum. Thanks

I will check that out, but I have a feeling you might be correct. Most of my albums are set to "hide" as it is pretty easy to go browse someone's pictures if you know their me.com email address. So I typically keep the albums hidden.
I am at work so can only go from memory, but I know two of the unhidden albums are showing on ATV2.
As to the other poster on organization, since the day I signed up for MM, I have been asking for Apple to allow us a way to sort our albums! There is no logical sort. When you create a new album, MM put's it at the top of the list (not in alpha numeric order) and if you add things to albums, they tend to show up high on the list.

  • AppleTV not displaying all movies in iTunes Store

I've had this problem for a while and can't figure it out... whether by Genre or even in the Top 100 HD rentals, AppleTV is not displaying all the movies from A-Z. I don't mean that the onesheet posters haven't loaded and the blank markers are in their place. I mean these screens literally do not show any more selections to scroll through... I get maybe less than a third, say into the F's, and there's no more movies.
Any ideas what is going on here and what the fix is? I've got the latest AppleTV updates installed, and I'm running 10.5.x on my computers.

Winston, how do you know that Apple is aware of this issue? I haven't seen a press release for it. This problem has been driving me nuts and I hope it gets fixed soon.
Because I have access to a special restricted area of these forums and when an issue arises that appears to be a genuine Apple problem rather than simply a user problem I pass it on, so I know they know. And no, there is no response to pass on at this stage.

  • Apple Tv will not sync some movies from Itunes.

    Hello,
I have had some issues with syncing my apple tv with itunes. I have overcome the initial issue of incomplete syncs etc. I now have an issue where only some of my movies in itunes are syncing. All movies to date have been ripped from DVDs using the Handbrake application. I have always set it to Apple TV which default to MP4. Has anyone had any experience with this. Is there a setting I am missing, or a better way to rip movies than Handbrake.
I am using an Imac running Leopard and all software is up to date.
    Cheers

  • Apple TV will not transfer all movies from computer

I have a new iMac and have transferred every movie, TV show, iPhone application and all my music to the new computer from my Mac Book Pro laptop. Everything works perfectly on both computers. I then purchased an Apple TV and connected it through HDMI to a high-end projector.
Everything was going well until I synced the device to the iMac. Once completed, it only synced 18 of my 47 movies and all of my TV shows except one. I have tried several times to get the files to transfer, but no luck. I have 2 separate iTune accounts... one from a PC I owed years ago, and a newer account when I bought the Macbook Pro. Both computers are 'authorized' on both accounts, so I don't think that is the issue.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated... thanks.

You said everything was going well until you synced to the iMac. Do you mean that you were able to sync successfully from your MacBook Pro to the ATV, all 47 movies? If this is the case, then I'm at a loss.
If you never tried syncing from the MacBook, then it's possible that some movies and TV shows are not in the proper format for the ATV. If a video works on a computer via iTunes, that doesn't mean it will work on ATV. However, if you purchased the video content from the iTunes store to the computer (intended for the ATV), then there's a problem here. We need more information.

  • Apple TV is not showing all netflix content in Canada

I've noticed a lot of content available on Netflix Canada is not available through Apple TV.  Programs like The West Wing, Louie, The Good Guys, Manhattan, etc.  They don't even show up in a specific search.   It's not just a case of displaying only 75 titles, or whatever I've read the app does.  I've called Netflix and they say that it's Apple's Netflix app issue and that Netflix have nothing to do with it and therefore can't do anything about it.  What's going on here?  Why would the Apple Netflix app remove content from the Netflix stream, especially when it includes some of the most highly viewed content like The West Wing?  How or who decides what stays and what goes?
We don't yet have instant queue in Canada so I can't queue it up on a web browsers and watch on ATV.  Also, watching a few minutes of one of these shows on a computer does not put it in my recently watched category on ATV, as the Netflix support person though that it would.
There must be a lot of people with this problem but there is very little info that I've been able to find out there.
Does anybody have any thoughts or advice?
    Thanks

I had the same issue until I found the missing movies in the "Home Videos" folder on the Apple TV.

  • TS3798 My Apple TV Does NOT show the Internet menu option. Has all the other options but the Internet. I am connected to the Internet as I can  Rent, Buy ,etc..movies from the Apple Store...

I have a first Genreation iPAD and just a new Apple TV, 3rd Generation. The Apple TV does not show the Internet menu option after booting up.

    There isn't one.
AppleTV3 has icons for all the internet features.

  • Suddenly all my Apple TVs do not show up in iTunes anymore

Ok, to say this right at the beginning: YES, I am an Apple product freak. I got several Apple products that I am synchronizing with my iTunes.
Three of these - 3 Apple TV (2 first gen and 1 ATV 2) were working FINE until about a four days ago. I had them all running in the same network. The two first gen ATV  were showing up in iTunes; the second gen was able to access everything through the home sharing. All was well.
About four days ago I used my ATVs the last time without problem.
Today I cannot get ANY of the ATV to work in iTunes/access iTunes. They do not show up in the iTunes menu, I cannot access my music/tv shows/movies ... nothing works. I CAN access the internet. I can download new tv music/tv shows/movies. I can access the iTunes store and buy anything I like. I can access youtube through the ATVs ... everything internet related work - just not the connection to iTunes on my Win 7 computer (which can also access the internet and can ping all three devices without problem).
I deinstalled iTunes (now several times), deinstalled Norton 360 (because I read here in the Forum, that the Firewall might be the problem. I opened the ports for iTunes in my router (which I did not need before, but did it anyways just to test). Nothing works. I even reset all my ATV and reinstalled them to the newest firmware/software version - no effect. I am at the end of my wits. I tried everything both via Ethernet cable and WiFi ...
Now - each time I reinstalled iTunes it pretty much automatically had all the configuration iTunes had before I uninstalled it. Because I (at least) think I tested all other factors, I wonder if maybe a problem could have occured within the configuration which is now being copied to each new installation of iTunes. Does anyone got an idea, how to circumvent that?
Or does anyone have any other idea, which I did not try already? I would be very grateful, if someone could help me out with this problem. THANK YOU

Please disregard. After a new installation of Win 7 and new iTunes everything works again. Not sure what the problem was ... but at least it works now. Thanks everyone!

As you connect your ipod to iTunes, an option in the upper right of the screen will appear. When you click this, it will show the different menu for your ipod.

You are trying to find a loophole to circumvent a basic rule that prohibits the transfer of purchased content from one Apple ID to another.
Content tied to an Apple ID are bound to that Apple ID forever. You can not merge or trade accounts. Well, not (officially) anyway...
