Apple TV 2 Portuguese subtitles ?

I live in Portugal, and i own an apple tv 2, and my question is that if i rent a movie from apple tv, i will have portuguese subtitles?
Thanks in advanced

Ok, I figured out whats the problem. I configured Netflix on my smart TV (LG 47LW6500) and gives me the option to choose audio and subtitles. Then configured my preference on the Netflix web page and set default audio to english. And it is actually working with an exception, the default audio will be english unless there is an other language that has better audio, for example, if the movie has 3 languages English (Stereo), Spanish (Stereo) and Portuguese (Stereo) english will be default, but if the theres a case were 1 of the languages is not stereo but better, as 5.1 Dolby, the better audio will be automatically selected as default, for example if English (Stereo), Spanish (Stereo) and Portuguese (5.1 Dolby), then the movie will play in Portuguese, no matter what your default preference is.
There is no way to fix this, because the ATV does not give the option to change the audio language on Netflix (It does on iTunes), and and Netflix App is omitting the web page preferences and the ATV preferences. Basically is and App problem, I don't know who developed the App, but the problem is definitely the app, that has not implemented all of the options the API allows.

    How should do for get a version with Portuguese subtitles ?

    If the film's description page in the store says that it has Portuguese subtitles then they should show as an option when playing it : iTunes: Language settings for video - Apple Support
    If it doesn't show an option then the film might have been mis-labelled in the store, in which case try the 'report a problem' page to contact iTunes Support : http://reportaproblem.apple.com
    If the 'report a problem' link doesn't work then you can try contacting iTunes Support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page, then Purchases, Billing & Redemption

  • How do you get Netflix on Apple tv  to support subtitles?

    How do you get the Netflix app on Apple tv  to support subtitles? The Netflix app on Roku, and the built in Netflix apps on LG tvs, as well as Netflix on the computer all allow you to turn on subtitles. Also most foreign films automatically have english subtitles enabled. The Netfix app on Apple tv has no way to choose subtitles and the foreign films don't show subtitles even when they are automatically enabled when you view the movie on other devices (Roku, LG tv, computer).

    Netflix is only on 2nd and 3rd gen Apple TV

  • Can I buy a MacBook Pro 15" Retina, at a US Apple store, with Portuguese keyboard?

    I am in the process of buying a MacBook Pro 15" Retina laptop; although based in Dallas, TX I have a strong need for portuguese keyboard, which I cannot order online (Spanish is the closest offering, but not close enough).
    Can I buy a MacBook Pro 15" Retina laptop, with Portuguese keyboard, at an Apple store?

    I went to an Apple Store, near my house. One of the employees showed me that she could not order it either (sorry, looks like it is really not an option within US).
    She offered an alternative / fix: she could order a Portuguese wireless keyboard, that can be connected via Bluetooth.
    Hope this helps.

  • When will Apple TV support YouTube subtitles???

    I noticed while using the Apple TV, that most of the videos I try to watch that have English subtitles will play the video but not the subtitles. So I was wondering if anyone knows when Apple TV will support YouTube subtitles because a lot of videos I watch speak in another language and therefore I need the subtitles to understand what they are saying.

    Most of the YouTube video subtitles are inserted by flash. Unfortunately, ios OS products don't support flash. If you do want to play them with subtitle, maybe you can use a video converter to help you convert YouTube videos to Apple TV. The only thing you should make sure before the conversion is that the videos that you download is bearing the subtitle, then the converted files would have the substitles as well. Hope that would help.

  • Apple TV2, Handbreak and subtitles

    Hi!
    I am using handbreak to convert mkv movies for viewing on my Apple TV2. The image converts fine but I am having problems with the subtitels. When I convert DVDs the subtitles gets burned in and shows up perfectly on my TV. The problems start when converting MKV files with subtitles "tracks" included in the MKV file. When converting I select the subtitle track to get included in the m4v result file and that also works OK.
    I can view the movie in VLC, the subtitles are there no problem, I can turn them on or off, but, when viewing the movie on the Apple TV2 only the first line of the subtitle is shown on screen. As most subtitles are multi-lines this is very annoying. When viewing the subtitles in VLC, multi-line subtitles are shown correctly over two or more lines.
    I have checked that the TV is correctly set up, ie I have no smart-zoom or similar on to have the TV crop the image.
    When converting the movie I have tried adding the subtitles both as burned in and forced, nothing seems to matter the subtitles doesnt get burned in and only the first line is shown.
    Anyone have the same problem or even better - a solution?
    /Carl

    handbrake let you add  srt files
    had success with those

  • Subtitle support needed for apple tv

    i am hearing impaired and was frustrated to download a movie and found no support for subtitles. Please apple fix this problem.

    We're new owners of Apple TV, and we agree whole heartedly that Apple TV should enable Subtitles to movies for the Hearing Impaired. Yes, we have the TV Ears, but when you are unable to hear particular sounds, it doesn't matter how high the volume. You can not hear the dialogue clearly, and do not understand, as a result. One tires of making inferences on a constant basis in an attempt to enjoy a movie.
    Apple tends to be a "leader," and we hope that they will take this suggestion under advisement -- Movie Subtitles will be an option. We hope that it happens SOON.
    Thank you

  • Apple TV 3 - Very small subtitles

    Hello, I just bought an Apple TV 3 and had it updated to the latest version 5.2
    I then tried to play an M4V on my iTunes 11 and airplay it on the Apple TV. The subtitles are really small, up to a point that I can not view the movie properly.
    I myself have not perfect eyesight but my wife who has 20/20 vision, said that this is a no-go for her as well.
    Since I can't view any video without subtitles, and if there is no way of changing the subtitles size, then I will need to get a refund for the ATV and buy something else.
    Thank you,
    Alex

    The small subtitle problem when using AirPlay has been around for a long time and as far as I know, there isn't a fix for it yet.  Search the forums here and you will find many people having the same problem.
    However, with your setup, you should shouldn't use AirPlay but instead have the AppleTV stream the movie directly from iTunes via Home Sharing.  Watching them via Home Sharing will make the subtitles appear properly.
    - Configure  iTunes and the AppleTV with Home Sharing on the same AppleID account.
    - From the main screen on the AppleTV, choose the Computers icon. From here, you will see your shared iTunes computers.  Select one then you will see the shared kinds (Music, TV Shows, Movies, Pictures).
    Once you locate and start playing your movie, if you don't see the subtitles, click and hold the center select button.  This will bring up a screen where you can choose the subtitle language, alternate audio tracks, etc.
    If you want to have subtitles on by default so you don't have to manually turn them on every time, you can go into the AppleTV Settings screen and set it to always show them (if available) including which language to show if multiple languages are available.
    Hope this helps.

  • On Apple TV when I have rented a movie the subtitles do not go away.  What setting do I enable to make this go away.

  • Watching movies with subtitles Apple TV

    I've been searching for a post like this for ages so I decided to make one myself to help other users with the same issue I've had:
    Watching movies with subtitles in Apple TV WITHOUT the awfull darkening, shadow or whatever blurry effect showed by itunes player when streaming via airplay.
    As many apple fanboys, i just cannot get whyy apple has done such a poor job with apple tv regarding to subtitled videos: the darkening of the lower part of the screen where the subtitles are displayed is simply unbereable and, because of it, I've found myself being forced to hardcode (because muxing is not gonna work, you need to hardcode) subtitles into movies with mp4tools or other similar software, which takes AGES of processing. Bt after buying and ipad i've found a brand new -and incredibily efficient- way to do it: VLC STREAMER
    With an Ipad and VCL Streamer, you'll be able to airplay any of your video files of any kind (forget about endless hours converting to mp4) and, what is most important about this thread: TO AIRPLAY MOVIES WITH SUBTITLES not the awfull way apple tv does it, but in a clean, beautiful and regular way.
    You need to purchase it cause the free version doesn't support airplay streaming. It is under 2$ or so and it's the best 2$ I've spent in the apple store. Ever.
    After having purchased it, you only need to run it in your computer, save any subtitle file (usually .srt) in the same folder with the video file it belongs to and (important) with the same name, just with the extension changed. Then you can either stream it via Wi-Fi or load it and save it in your ipad and, anytime you hit "apple tv airplay", you'll watch it on your tv amazingly as it should be, and not with the ******** darkening of the lower part of the screen that apple tv usually displays.
    I know it's not an useful solution for everybody cause it needs an ipad to work but, if you are lucky enough to have one, VLC streamer is an app that will allow you to watch your subtitled movies in your tv easy and clear.
    PS: Sorry for bad english!

    Not always, but generally this is a network issue.
    It also depends if you are playing across the LAN from iTunes (Computers icon using Home Sharing of iTunes) or playing purchases from the cloud under the main Movies/TV Shows/Music (iTunes Match) categories.
    Audio will require less speed on either the LAN or internet to work well, whereas video, especially HD is more demanding.  If it starts up quickly then stops to rebuffer I would consider interference on the LAN if uisng wifi (eg microwaves, neighbouring networks).
    Also, to clarify, you are not talking about Airplay from a device to AppleTV (which will be worse with poor connections).
    Test your internet speed at speedtest.net if playing from the internet.
    SD needs 2.5 Mbps to play quickly, HD 6-8 Mbps for 720 or 1080p.
    If playing across the LAN, if feasible (even for testing) connect as many device to the router by ethernet as possible to see if it's the wifi.
    Occasionally when AppleTV behaves oddly it can help to unpower it completely and restart - may or may not help but quick and free.  Same goes for restarting the router/Itunes when things go bad.

  • Srt subtitles on Apple TV

    Hi, I have this home made movie AVI+SRT subtitle file that I want to watch on my Apple TV. Can someone explain me the process to do this without "paste" the subtitles by using submerge? is it posible? I know that Apple Tv has a subtitle option on settings for Rentals movie that actually has CC but how this works in a home made movie?
    thanks!

    Hi tmartine thanks for your replay, but Quicktime is not the problem, actually I can perfectly watch the movie with the srt subtitles in Quicktime by using perian. The thing is How to do the same in the Apple Tv without having to paste the subtitles in the film using submerge.
    thanks anyway

    When I simulate it on DVD studio Pro 4, everything works fine, It looks pretty goog, but after build or format a DVD on my hard drive, I test it on Apple DVD Player, selec menu in english or portuguese and play one interview with the artist, on extras menu. Ok, but if I press menu, then go to the setup menu, and select the spanish or portuguese subtitles, when I go back to the extras menu, and play the interview again, the subtitle is english only.
    Somebody help-me, I cheked all the scripts and it's ok, as much that on the simulator, all works fine.
    thx,
    Marcus Maia

    On language menu I have two buttons that call:
    Script PT (sets the menu language to português)
    1 - mov GPRM 1,1
    2 - Jump Aviso PT (warning screen)
    Script PT (sets the menu language to english)
    1 - mov GPRM 1,2
    2 - Jump Aviso EN (warning screen)
    On the setup menu, I have five buttons that call:
    Script AUDIO_5.1 (sets audio to dolby 5.1)
    1 - Set System Stream Au(Audio Stream 1)
    2 - Jump menuconfigpt::button LEG_EN if (GPRM 1 = 1)
    3 - Jump menuconfigen::button LEG_EN if (GPRM 1 = 2)
    Script AUDIO_2.0 (sets audio to dolby 2.0)
    1 - Set System Stream Au(Audio Stream 1)
    2 - Jump menuconfigpt::button LEG_EN if (GPRM 1 = 1)
    3 - Jump menuconfigen::button LEG_EN if (GPRM 1 = 2)
    Script LEG_EN (sets subtitle to english)
    1 - Set System Stream St(Subtitle Stream 1) (on)
    2 - Jump menuconfig_pt::butvoltar if (GPRM 1 = 1)
    3 - Jump menuconfig_en::butvoltar if (GPRM 1 = 2)
    Script LEG_ES (sets subtitle to spanish)
    1 - Set System Stream St(Subtitle Stream 2) (on)
    2 - Jump menuconfig_pt::butvoltar if (GPRM 1 = 1)

    Script LEG_PT (sets subtitle to spanish)

    2 - Jump menuconfig_pt::butvoltar if (GPRM 1 = 1)
    3 - Jump menuconfig_en::butvoltar if (GPRM 1 = 2)
    The others scripts make each video to come back to correct language menu, like these:
    Script SHOW
    1 - Jump menuroot_pt::butextras if (GPRM 1 = 1)
    2 - Jump menuroot_en::butextras if (GPRM 1 = 2)
    Script ENTREVISTA (the interview with the artist)
    1 - Jump menuextras_pt::butmkof if (GPRM 1 = 1)

    There is all...
    If you can, send your e-mail address to me and I send the project file to you.
