Apple TV 2G - Setting YouTube quality?

I have terrible internet. And when I use YouTube on my new apple tv, it automaticly selects the best quality that the video is uploaded in. Some video's are uploaded in 1080p. My connection takes around 10 minutes to load of a video of that quality. So when I watch a normal/ standard 360p video, it starts instantly and plays perfect.
But if i go to watch a video and the highest quality is 1080p, apple tv auto picks 1080p and it takes forever to start.
So is there any way I can set video's to be always played in 360p??
Thx

Yes I have that setting as 'play using highest quality' or what ever so now I've changed it down to 'i have a slow connection bla bla' but it still doesn't make a difference

  • Will apple universal dock improve sound quality?

I use RCA plugs to hook up my ipod touch to my home stereo. Will adding an apple universal dock improve sound quality?

I've a 5th generation iPod 80 GB, the Composite AV cable, a Universal Dock, an Apple Remote, as well as a traditional headphone-jack-to-stereo-RCA cable I got from Radio Shack.
When I connect the Composite cable directly to the iPod, and then from there to my TV (no dock), videos play on the TV (with sound) and the iPod screen stays blank (as expected, since it re-directed the video to the TV).
When I connect the Composite cable to the dock first, then dock the iPod, I get USB power to the iPod, but the iPod does NOT see the TV - when I try to play video, the video displays on the iPod's screen instead. Also no sound. The Apple Remote works fine, however.
When I remove the Composite cable, connect the headphone-to-stereo-RCA to the 'line-out' part of the dock, connect that to a stereo, and dock the iPod I get sound, but of course no video. My Apple Remote still works as well of course. An interesting side note is that despite being labeled 'line out', I need to crank the volume to max for the sound to work correctly (a 'line out' should not be affected by the volume setting).
So... the problem appears to be the Dock. I'm gonna take my set-up down to an Apple store and see what they can do for me.

  • I want to set media quality to print on a Canon Pixma IP 4000, where do I do that?

I have had that problem with other printers too. Am using Photoshop CS3. When using Windows on a PC I can set printing quality and chose media without a problem. On the Mac I only can set size. Is the pixma 4000 too old? What Canon printer would work, if that is the problem?

I'm having a similar problem, but I do have the key and is not working anyway.
My old pc was running on windows 7 and my new one is an apple running on Lion.
My phone is an Iphone IV and I can see all the bookmarks there.
In order to sync, what I did was click on the "I don't have the device with me", I entered the key that was provided and the process finish ok. It says congratulations, etc, etc.
But the bookmarks are not there, I tried merging data and replacing data on this computer options but is the same.
    Any suggestions?

  • Apple TV CANNOT play DVD-quality video, let alone HD.

Ok, somebody needs to teach me a lesson (literally). This video encoding stuff is giving me headaches...
If I rip a DVD using MPEG-4 and H.264 at 100% quality the resulting file is over 8000kbps, which is higher than the 5000kbps Apple TV supports.
So, resolution-wise Apple TV may display DVD and HD signals, but when it comes to quality, it's not even close to what it should be. Is that an accurate statement?
According to the wikipedia, DVDs are encoded with MPEG-2 at 8000-14000kpbs. Now, it also says that MPEG-4 H.264 allows you to have similar image quality at much lower bit rates and much lower file size.
So the question would be, can a 5000kbps MPEG-4 be comparable to a 10000kbps MPEG-2 from a DVD?
....Or do I get all this completely wrong?
    Thanks for any insight,

I'm pretty critical about my video quality and I've done a fair amount of testing using Apple's H.264 codec (using QuickTime Pro and Final Cut Studio). So, here's my take on H.264 -- it's NOT as good as many would have you believe. It's better than MPEG2, but I'd question any claim that it is four times as "good." I'd say that under the best of circumstances it's more like twice as "good" or twice as efficient as MPEG2. In any case, a 2X improvement over current state-of-the-art MPEG2 is still a pretty remarkable achievement.
So, where does that leave us with the AppleTV? First, you're not going to get consistent, solid HD quality at only 5Mbps (the limit on AppleTV). However, if you have good material and you encode with care you can definitely produce content that will exceed the quality that you might see on a standard definition DVD (or for that matter, probably as good as any anamorphic DVD).
Then there is the issue of frame rate, since the AppleTV will only do 24fps at 720p (spec) you're probably going to experience frame rate conversion artifacts on some material. Finally, the AppleTV lacks a "true" 1080i mode since for 1080i it just scales the picture up by two times from an internal video source at 960 x 540.
In any case, I'd say that given the proper source material (and the "proper" encoding) that the AppleTV potential sits somewhere between DVD quality and true HD. Of course, the video material that Apple currently sells on the iTunes store is encoded at approximately 1.5Mbps and at frame sizes equal to or smaller than 640 x 480. Given those (low) numbers, you should not expect anything that even approaches DVD quality (assuming that you compare against a good DVD). However, I don't believe that Apple has ever claimed "DVD quality" with the current iTunes content. Under the best of conditions -- and the quality varies widely -- the current iTunes content is most similar to a decent standard definition broadcast, but with a slightly different "look" and a different set of defects than you would see in an analog broadcast.
In the interest of a full disclosure, you should know that I already own an AppleTV and I think it's a pretty good product (i.e. it's worth the $300 even though it may never really achieve HD quality). But let's be fair, if it offered solid HD playback, 30fps 720p, and true 1080i it would be a near "steal" at only $300 (given its audio and still photo capabilities, its wireless 802.11n features, the internal HD storage, and its beautiful "10-foot" GUI).

  • I have my apple i.d set in my phone but when i go to download an app it has a different i.d how do i fix this

i have my apple i.d set in my phone but when i go to download an app it has a different i.d how do i fix this

If you are UPDATING your app, it may be because that previous app was downloaded using another Apple ID.
If not, you can try going to:
Settings>iTunes & App Stores>Tap the top bar with your Apple ID>Sign Out and then Sign back in
This may fix the issue you are having with it wanting to use another Apple ID.

    Hello there MizzouTrojan,
If I understand correctly you want all 6 devices to have access to a single calendar that each device gets notifications for and can edit. You can do that with an private iCloud shared calendar. First sign into www.icloud.com and use these steps from the following article to share a calendar:
iCloud: Share a calendar with others
    Share a calendar privately
Click the Share button to the right of the calendar name in the sidebar, then select Private Calendar.
Note:    You can also share the same calendar publicly. For instructions, see the next task, “Share a calendar publicly.”
Type the invitee’s email address in the Add Person field and press Return.
Click the pop-up menu with the invitee’s name and choose access privileges (View & Edit or View Only).
For each person you want to share the calendar with, repeat steps 2 and 3.
When you’ve invited everyone and set their privileges, click OK.
Invitation emails are sent from your iCloud email address to the participants you specified.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Sterling

If you wish to use home sharing then you need to setup the Apple TV under your ID.

That "should" work.  Drop the pin exactly where you want it, tap the arrow on the right and the select Directions to/from here.

  • How to reset and activate an iPad when you are unable to locate the original Apple ID that set it up

My son received an iPad as a gift from someone we don't know.  He got it to a state of needing to be reset.  I am having trouble activating it because it is looking for the original Apple ID that set it up.  I have an Apple ID and was able to reset it but am having issues activating it.  Any ideas???

Sorry, but you can't use that device; only the person who set the lock or Apple can remove it, and Apple will only do so for its original owner(assuming they're alive.)

Hi maggieanntb, your sister's Apple ID came up because an app(s) was downloaded using her account. To prevent that from happening, you would have to delete the app(s) that were downloaded on her's, and re-download them using your own Apple ID.

You need OS X 10.8 mountain lion, mirror is a feature of that OS and you need to buy it from the app store, OS X 10.7.5 does not do it.
If you don't want to change visit www.airparrot.com a third party app that can do it.
