The homesharing is already on itunes but it is not connecting.  Everything else seems to stil work with my apple tv, so i assume it is an itunes problem? There used to be an airplay symbol but it doesn't seem to be on my itunes desktop anymore.  Can anyone help?

  • ATV 3rd Gen not connecting to itunes store

    Hi,
I have an apple TV 3rd generation and I can only see 2 Tiles ( settings and homesharing)
No netflix, movies, or any other channels are available.
I've tried to sign in to the itunes store but a "cannot connect to iTunes Store" message appears.
Also tried WiFi, ethernet, reseting and restoring the ATV but nothing seems to work.
    What can I do?

This could be a symptom of a wide-spread issue with ATV's right now [though looks to be primarily Gen 1 units].  There's an existing topic here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/25524317#25524317 Your case could be a sign that the problem has spread beyond jsut the Gen 1 units. It could also jsut be a sign that Apple is trying to address the issue with Gen 1, and it is temporarily affecting other generations.
Be sure to click "I have this question too" in the thread above, and identify the generation of your device in a reply (As it may affect other generations as well.), so that it's all collected in one place. I also suggest to submit the bug via the feedback page https://www.apple.com/feedback/appletv.html

  • Apple TV 3rd Gen - Won't use iTunes Movie Start Time

I've went into the info options under a movie in my iTunes library, and changed the start time. But when playing back on my Apple TV from the beginning, it does not start at that time? Is this functionality not transferred to the Apple TV? I have a 3rd gen, and I would like to know a way I can either chop the beginning to this film off without re-encoding, or if there is a way my Apple TV will recognize my start position set up for specific iTunes movies..?

AFAIK? is that iTunes conversion? I tried earlier to create an Apple TV format video from the video source in iTunes and had a set in point, it did not clip the beginning...
I do know that if you do this same process with audio it will clip the beginning, I do this for ringtones... If anyone finds a solution besides having to re-export, would be great!
I love my Apple TV I just wish it all worked more fluidly, has some glitches here and there and these things should go both ways..

  • Apple TV 2nd Generation - wont connect to Itunes on Windows 7 Computer, with BT Home Hub 2

So have been searching around all over the Interweb and cant put my finger on an answer.
Apple TV is up to date and so is Itunes. Connecting via wireless.
Apple TV connects to internet fine, and also allows airplay via Ipad. It is reporting the correct router address so I am assuming it is all on the same network and happy that way.
I can see the Apple TV device in Home hub manager.
In Apple TV and Itunes I have turned on Home Sharing. (In fact tried turning off and on a number of times)
Initially I can see in Apple TV the Library I am trying to connect to. So you select and it goes away for a while and comes back with "Cannot connect to Neils Library"...
So I searched around and looked at ports that you maybe should open on the computer to allow other devices to search for Itunes - TCP 3689 and UDP 5353. So I created a new Application Sharing entry in the home hub, and assigned that to my PC only. (maybe I havent done that correctly? Followed a guide on a port forwarding website)
Weirdly then - when I go back to my Apple TV and look at "computers" on the menu, it can no longer see my Itunes library. Before it could see the library, but errored when trying to connect to it.
Have also tried turning the firewall off.
So I am a bit stuck. Any suggestions or past experience would be gratefully received.
    Thank you!
    Neil

OK - I managed to fix this. Will document for others.
I started to think it was a firewall thing. So I turned off both my Windows 7 firewall and my BT Home hub firewall. It started working!
So turned back on the BT home hub firewall - still working. So it must be a windows 7 firewall.
Went in and checked that Itunes was there as an exception... Yep. So why still not working?
Found out that the entry in my Windows 7 firewall said I-Tunes - but when you looked at the details button it wasnt pointing to a program - it was just blank.
So added a new entry and pointed that at the I-Tunes exe file.
    Now all working...

  • My Unjailbroken ipod touch first gen wont connect to Itunes or wifi

I bought this first generation ipod touch from a pawn shop, It was jailbroken, then I synced it to my comp (windows xp) and updated the software( but it only updated it to version 1.1.5 ), and it reset everything and un jail broke it, And now when I connect my ipod to my computer, It pops up for a second before it disapears in itunes, and will connect to wifi, but when I open safari on my ipod touch it says " Safari cant open the page because it cant find the server".
Ive tried everything from uninstalling itunes, bonjour, quicktime, apple device services etc an reinstalling it, resetting my ipod, trying different usb ports, opening device services and right clicking an restarting apple ipod device etc. everryythinggg...
Nothing seems to work, Did I break the ipod by syncing it to my comp and Un jailbreaking it?
    thanks

Others have reported problems attempting to "unjailbreak" an iPad/iPod.  Unless you can get help from the jailbreaker, there is nothing that we can do for you as we do not know the characteristics of your device.  Sorry.

  • Apple TV (3rd gen)wont play purchased movies

Having an issue with playing my purchased movies. The issue is that I click play on the movie I want and the gray circle shows like its loading then it reverts back to the play screen again. I have reset it to factory and after 8 minutes or so when it comes up it allows me to play and watch 1 movie. After I stop the movie or try to go into a different movie it no longer works and I have the same issue again. I have checked my firewall and my Avg they are not the issue. I have reset my Internet and the same problem continues. Air play, HBO to go, Netflix all work no issues.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Same problem -- click play, changes to "loading screen" for a few seconds, then flashes back to the "play" screen. I also can't purchase other movies. The first two times I tried,  the "are you sure purchase buttons" screen, click it and it flashes back to the movie not screen. Just now, I tried again after restarting, It got me to a screen that required my security code for my credit card. After I put it in, it said I'd have to go to iTunes to finish the authorization. The first time I tried through my iTunes account, it said the service wasn't available. The second time, it let me enter the numbers. Now, back to the Apple TV, again, it wants the security code again. Several attempts failed.
Now, trying to download a free iphone game: iTunes story is temporarily unavailable.
    I'm persistant.
    Added:
    Apple TV is running 6.0.
    Netflix plays fine.
    Music (itunes match) plays fine.

  • My ipod touch 2nd gen wont connect to itunes

My daughter's ipod touch (2nd generation) is not being recognized by itunes.... The cords are fine (they recoginize my iphone) but we can sync her ipod to her library because of this. I have tried updating itunes, turning the ipod off and back on, reseting the ipod settings, and restarting the computer. SO FRUSTRATED!

    Try here:
iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Device not recognized in iTunes for Mac OS X
Do you have another computer to try?
    Does the iPod charge?
If you look at the dock connector in the iPod does anything look abnormal like bent contacts? I suspect an iPod problem.

  • Apple TV 3rd Gen no longer sees Airport Express 1st gen in Airplay after update

Apple TV 3rd gen was connected to AirPort Express 1st gen via WiFi, drove a video device via HDMI
and sent audio to the AirPort using Airplay and selecting the AirPort Express under Speakers.
I could adjust the volume with the AppleTV remote.
Apple TV was stored unused for a while.
After powering on yesterday, I ran the update.
Now Apple TV is connected to the Airport Express via WiFi
but Airport Express doesn't show in AirPlay settings.
I can still use AirPlay from my MacBook running Snow Leopard.
There are no updates available for the AirPort

Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Check AirPlay is turned on on the Apple TV (turn it off and on if it already is)
Check that both devices are on the same network (Settings > Wifi, on the mobile device and Settings > General > Network, on the Apple TV).
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
    Restart your mobile device.

  • My iphone 4s wont connect in apple tv 3rd gen dont show the airplay icon, but apple tv can connect in Bose sound touch 20 via airplay, and the iphone also connect to sound touch 20 via airplay, so it means theres something wrong in my iphone.

my iphone 4s wont connect in apple tv 3rd gen dont show the airplay icon, but apple tv can connect in Bose sound touch 20 via airplay, and the iphone also connect to sound touch 20 via airplay, ive just buy it yesterday in Mediamarkt Spain,, so it means theres something wrong between my iphone and the apple tv? please me

    Hi jaredfox06,
If I understand the issue correctly, you have recently purchased a used iPhone and you do not see your Apple TV in the control center in order to AirPlay.  To troubleshoot this issue please follow the steps outlined below.
    Try these steps first
Make sure that you have the latest software on your iOS device and Apple TV.
Make sure that both devices have Wi-Fi turned on.
On your iOS device, go to Settings > Wi-Fi.
On your Apple TV, go to Settings > General > Network.
If you're trying to use peer-to-peer AirPlay, make sure that both devices have Bluetooth turned on.
On your iOS device, go to Settings > Bluetooth.
On your Apple TV, go to Settings > General > Bluetooth.
If you don't see AirPlay in Control Center
When an AirPlay-enabled device is available, you'll see AirPlay in Control Center on your iOS device.
If you don't, try these steps:
Restart your iOS device and Apple TV.
Connect both devices to the same Wi-Fi network.
On your iOS device, go to Settings > Wi-Fi.
On your Apple TV, go to Settings > General > Network. If your Apple TV is connected using Ethernet, make sure that it’s plugged in to the router you're using for Wi-Fi.
On your Apple TV, make sure that AirPlay is turned on. Go to Settings > AirPlay.

  • Apple TV 3rd Gen - iTunes Movies Not Showing Up???

I have Apple TV 3rd Gen (latest) but for some reason my previously purchased itunes movies are not showing up anywhere on the system.  The content was purchased on my previous Apple TV 1 and stored in a connected itunes library via my iMac.  The TV shows are all there and eveything else seems to be working find.  Home sharing is ON. Does anyone know why?

Changing the store setting in itunes store  helped me get the store back
