Apple TV (4 months old) and iTunes 10 = no more sync?

Hi,
I have a season pass to Mad Men and I download each episode as they're available to iTunes, then sync to my Apple TV. At least that's what I was doing until I upgraded iTunes to version 10. Now, even though the Apple TV shows in iTunes and nothing is wrong with my network connection, and even though it tries to sync - it simply does not. I've actually let iTunes run for hours with the sync wheel spinning and nothing. It just will not sync my two unwatched episodes to my Apple TV.
My Apple TV has been working great for the four short months that I've had it - and I have no intention of upgrading to the new disk-less version.
Must I downgrade to iTunes 9? Will a tweaked version of iTunes 10 be released that allows me to use my Apple TV?
After being forced to upgrade my perfectly good iPhone 3G because the latest OS made it unusable, I simply will not be forced once again to upgrade good hardware because of bad software that refuses to work properly.

The new itunes 10 appears to take away the sync feature. The new ATV to be released soon does not have a HD, so their is no reason for IT10 to sync anymore. The only way to get this feature back, is to get an older version of iTunes back onto the computer, which will give you the sync feature again. You could even change the sync to another computer with an older version of itunes. Then copy the saved file on that computer onto the system you really want it on.
New Itunes will be renting only and streaming/sharing from the computer to the TV *only* in the near future.

They stopped making that model four years ago.  There is no way it is two months old.  Trying connecting it to a computer with iTuens via a USB cable to see if you can re-install the firmware.

I have a new Macbookbook, about 2 months old, and at times running video, the fans starts and does not stop. how do you get it to stop. Also i am thinking once the video is done  the fan should be slowing down and getting quiet on its own.

Your fan(s) will run at high speed (i.e., loudly) while video is playing, and you can't get around that.
If your fans are not slowing down within 2-4 minutes after CPU- and/or GPU-intensive usage ends, and the application that was showing the video is still running, Quit that application. (In fact, if you're accustomed to Windows, you may not realize that simply closing a Mac application's window does not quit the application. You still need to use the Quit command in the application-name menu. There will always be a bright dot beside or below the application icon in your Dock for each application that is open.) Quit the ones you aren't using, and see whether that allows the fans to slow down without restarting the machine. If that doesn't do the trick, reset the SMC:

  • My macbook pro is probably only 2 months old and there is a buzzing/grinding noise coming from the left side of the laptop every time I open it.  It may buzz 5 times in a span of 30 seconds then not make the noise the remaining time that it is open.

Sounds like the disk in your MBP is accessing data on wake up
If you are still concerned you can take it into the Apple Store where they can hear it to be sure

Try to reboot it. Hold down the sleep and home keys until you see the silver apple, about 20 seconds or so. It should reboot and work for you.

iPhone is 17 month old and shutting down when not connected to the mac any this I can do about it?
should I bring it to apple ?

Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new).  Try each of these steps in order until the issue is resolved.
Replacing or even suggesting replacing hardware without doing basic troubleshooting first is not very smart.
If basic troubleshooting does not resolve, take it to Apple for evaluation.  There is no obligation to pay for anything, the evaluation is free.

  • My iPhone 4s is only 4 months old, and it will not charge, I'm a little ticked off.

My Verizon iPhone 4s is only 4 months old and all of a sudden it's not charging, and the speakers work when they want to. The phone has never been water damaged. The phone has never been dropped on anything hard, always has had a case on it, and I'm seriously upset with this. None of my other apple products have I ever had a problem with.

It's under warranty. Take it in and let the genius have a look. If it's defective, it will be replaced.
So long as you didn't do something stupid like jailbreaking it.

My computer is 3 1/2 months old and my battery is dying really fast what can I do to increase the battery life?

    Hi,
    I asssume it's a laptop!
1st I would run it right down & then do a full recharge, then run it down again + a full recharge..
Check that you do not have any apps running in the background, reset PRAM..
When all's done I usually run a movie & time how long the battery lasts..if after that & no joy call Apple Help..

Sorry. It is not "seven months old". It was discontinued in June of 2010. It hasn't been manufactured in 2 1/2 years.
4.2.1 is the end of the line for the 3G.

So basically if a iphone has a fault after the 1 year warranty period is over, there is nothing the consumer can do but purchase a new phone??
Pretty much. Except that Apple will replace it for a fixed fee that is far less than the cost of a new phone. In the US the replacement cost for an iPhone 4 is $149. It is comparable in the UK. Unless you can prove that the fault was present at the time of purchase. A switch wearing out would probably be considered normal wear and tear, not a "fault".

  • My Mac is 15 months old and all of a sudden it has started resetting the time and date then I get a message saying not all apps will work because of the pre Jan date any help as to why ? Causing problems with wireless router.

My Mac book pro is 15 months old and now suddenly it has started resetting the date and time, causing problems with applications and my wireless access. Any suggestions as to why this is happening and how to fix it?

Seems the time isn't being saved to your computer correctly, it may be a corrupt file that isn't saving the time anymore.
    You can move the
    com.apple.systempreferences.plist
file out of your Users/Library/Preferences folder to the desktop and reboot.
then go to your System Preferences > Date and Time and set a time server close to your location (or in your time zone)
(trash the file on the desktop if no ill issues occur later on)
or you can follow/bookmark these support docs to reset your PRAM and SMC (and for future reference)

I don't remember exactly where OS X is keeping it time settings now, but I think one of those choices should help resolve your issue and won't hurt anything giving them a shot. Perhaps someone else could refresh my memory.

  • My MacBookPro is less than 3 months old and for the last few days, it has been  itslow to load anything, especially web pages.  I get the rainbow swirl when loading or reloading.  I guess I am spoiled.  Up until now it was lightening fast!

My MacBookPro is less than 3 months old and, for the last few days, it has been loading so slowly, mainly with webpages.  I have gotten the swirling rainbow "thinking" icon more in the last days than I have since I bought it.  I know I'm spoiled and expect it to be faster than lightening (which it has been) but I am worried that I may have been compromised in some way, or, is there anything I can do as administrator to clear out some "junk"?

Back up your documents and everything else important to you, not that there is any reason to believe your hard disk may be failing, but the symptoms you describe may presage an impending disk failure, and you should have backups anyway.
Given that your MacBook Pro is so new, you should certainly contact AppleCare and take advantage of the free telephone support included in its purchase price.
