Apple TV 6.0 not syncing podcast episodes

Apple TV 6.0 update is not syncing podcasts that are working fine on multiple macs that have itunes and multiple ios devices, all sharing the same itunes account/itunes account/apple id.   The message that appears on apple tv says "No current episodes are available for this station" when they appear fine on non apple devices.

I am having the same problem. I have tried several things to remedy it, but so far none of them worked. I suggest leaving feedback on the bug on Apple's product feedback page. Hopefully there's an update soon that will fix the issue.

  • Apple Mail STILL does NOT sync with GMAIL...even with Mavericks 10.9.2...why?

Apple MAIL still does not sync well with Gmail.
I have to close Apple Mail program down, re-load it, select "synchonize all accounts." Then MAYBE it will finally sync up. If not, I do this again and again. Then, randonmly it seems, it finally syncs.
My iOS devices sync instantly and accurately 100% of the time. When I pull down the inbox to update, it does so almost at once. Accurately.
WHY does Mavericks APPLE MAIL have so many issues STILL!? Worked fine before Mavericks? Is there a solution?
    Mike

I'm not sure if you were seriously asking or just looking for a place to vent, but I've read a lot about this topic and so I'll give a brief reply.
Unfortunately, I've not seen a solution to this problem. Many people have had success with various "voodoo" solutions (re-starting or some variant) but there's really been no reliable, consistent answer to this problem. Most people seem to think that syncing was improved (but was not completely fixed) with the 10.9.2 update. The only "solution" I've seen is to move off of GMail.
As to WHY this is happening, well, again I've not seen anybody diagnose the problem in any scientific way, but the consensus seems to be that this problem started because Apple modified the way the Mail program stored and indexed a GMail account. Many people (including you) say "it worked fine before" and yes perhaps it did, but there was a big problem lurking.
As you might know, Google moved off the mail standard when they created their mail system. Now, this is a rant for another post, but IMO by doing that they should have provided code for 3rd-party mail clients to use their new mail system properly. But of course that would defeat any competitive advantage their own client had, so instead all they did was support an IMAP interface.
The problem is that when an email arrives at your GMail account, it is in your Inbox and also in the "All Mail" folder. This is not in concert with IMAP protocol where a message is only in one folder. So a naive IMAP email client downloads such a message twice. If a message happens to be in a several folders (tags in GMail-speak), an IMAP client downloads it several times. It might have looked like it was "working fine" to you, but for people who have many gigabytes of mail, this duplication is a big problem.
Likewise, if you search for an email, an unaware IMAP client will find it in multiple folders, and report back each copy. Anyway, you get the idea. Apple tried to improve their Mail client to support this, and unfortunately they have a big bug. Well, I say "big" because it really annoys me. Apparently it must be not be affecting a large percentage of Mavericks users or else they would have fixed it by now. Even more annoying, there's no "switch" to get Mail to act like a dumb IMAP client again. It appears to detect that it is talking to GMail and this new system kicks in automatically. (Perhaps this could be tricked by using some kind of proxy?)
So why is this not happening on iOS? Well, again, nobody knows for sure (and Apple isn't saying), but the theory is that they didn't implement this complex scheme on iOS (yet). Maybe they were first testing it out on Mavericks, or perhaps they didn't think it was worth the trouble because on iOS the Mail caches are typically much smaller. On a desktop machine, usually there is a copy of all your IMAP mail sitting on the disk. On a mobile device, only a few messages are kept around at any time.
Sorry I don't have more info to give at this time. Good luck.
    Bark.

  • ITunes will not sync podcasts with iPod touch

I've tried just about everything I know and consulted the internet, but I cannot get iTunes to sync my podcasts with my iPod Touch. It will sync my music, but it simply will not sync any of my podcasts. It must be something simple, but I've exhausted my knowledge on this issue. It worked fine on my desktop, but when I tried to move it over to my laptop, it just wouldn't work, no matter what I try. Call me an idiot or whatever you need to do if this is something stupid, but please, help me get my podcasts back!

There's a good guide here on how to roll back to 10.7 https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4559563?tstart=0

  • IPhone 4 will not sync Podcasts with iTunes.

I've tried to sync the Podcasts from iTunes to the iPhone both ways; via WiFi and plugging in but neither works.  All other functions seem to work via iTunes, syncing apps, photos, etc but not the podcasts.

This is the Apple document that discusses that problem -> 'Disk cannot be read from or written to' when syncing iPod or 'Firmware update failure' error when updating or restoring iPod
Are you connecting your iPhone to your computer differently since the problem started? If you are, try plugging it directly into the USB port on the back of the computer.
If the problem started after updating iTunes or the security software on your computer, you may want to try ruling the security software out. Here's an Apple document to help you with that -> iTunes for Windows: Troubleshooting security software issues.

  • Apple TV 1st Gen not syncing

I've been using my ATV (1st Gen) for years, but shortly after I installed iTunes 10.5 I can no longer sync it.
I tried everything, I even reset to factory defaults, re-installed itunes, reboot router (D-Link DIR-825). My computer (Windows XP) and the ATV are on the same GigEthernet LAN (although the ATV is only Fast Ethernet). I can still rent movies, watch youtube, etc, but I can not sync anything.
When I try to  "Add iTunes Lybrary", I enter the code on iTunes (which not always appears) and i get an error Apple TV is not responding: "Check that any firewall software running on this computer has been set to allow communication on port 3689" alert in Windows".
I have not changed anything on my PC or LAN (other than installing iTune 10.5 a few days ago). Windows firewall is disabled and McAfee has ports 123, 3689 and 5353 open. Even if I disable McAfee Firwall, I get the same error.
I'm wondering if anyone else is having this issue.
    Thanks!

OMG, I finally found the solution based on this https://discussions.apple.com/message/10041310#10041310
"Apparently this can happen when you watch a large HD movie from the computer on the apple TV it seems to kind of clog it. Nothing to do with firewall settings."
Based on this I went to eddit --> prefferences --> General and unchecked movies and tv shows. After that it worked! Well, at least so far...What is very interesting is that it is still syncing movies, since it is the default setting the first time (remember, I did a factory reset too) I sync the ATV. Unbelieveble how much time I spent ont this.
I hope this helps someone out there.

  • Apple TV purchases do not sync back to library

I have an original Apple TV,bought it a few weeks after release. Suddenly, about 2 months ago it stopped syncing purchases made on the Apple TV back to my library. I now have 28 gigs of shows bought since then, but before the problem became apparent, that are on the Apple TV but not in my iTunes library.
We have always bought show directly on the Apple TV and let them sync back. I have a dozen or so movies and over one hundred TV shows bought this way. No changes to the itunes library, network, or settings were made anywhere near the time this began to happen. We literally purchased a show, watched it, synced it back to the library, went to dinner, bought a new show, and syncing stopped.
I have tried telling the TV to sync. Telling the library to sync. Telling the library to sync purchased TV content. Restarting the Apple TV. Connecting the TV to a new library. Deleting an unwanted show to see if jump starts something. Resetting users settings. Connecting directly by ethernet to the computer I want to sync to, and restarting the Apple TV.
Any ideas how to get this content from the Apple TV to the library without deleting it and asking Apple to let me redownload it? Any other possible solutions?
    Thanks in advance....

I have the same problem. Can't understand why this is suddenly not working. It used to work fine before. Is it linked to the new Apple TV rollout? I think Apple need to sort this one out quickly as it puts off people with Apple TVs from purchasing through the TV.

  • My apple tv playlists will not sync to my mac or iPads?

My playlists show up on apple tv when in itunes on my laptop, but they won't sync from apple tv to my mac laptop or iphone.  Thoughts?

    DennisN wrote:
I have the same problem. My iMac calendar events will sync to my iPhone, but my iPhone events will not sync to the iMac. I'm not using iCloud. Help!
This sounds like you're syncing your calendars using iTunes. To sync your calendar over iCloud and have each device update automatically, you will need to do the same as I said in my last reply:
You first will need an iCloud account and you will need to turn on calendar sync in System Preferences > iCloud.
After this, make sure your iDevice is set up with the same iCloud account and your calendar should show up after a few minutes.
    To clarify:
On the Mac, iCloud settings are under System Preferences > iCloud.
On an iDevice, iCloud settings are in the Settings app under iCloud.

  • Apple TV suddenly will not sync

My Apple TV will no longer sync to my computer. I just get an endless Barber Pole with "Syncing Apple TV" message. It also appears that the Apple TV cannot connect to the iTunes Store. My internet connection is fine. Any suggestions?
I battled with my ATV for months when iTunes would not show it in the device list. I almost went bald trying to make it work. The problem resolved itself about 4 or 5 months ago. After a period of relative stability in which I greatly enjoyed my Apple TV I am now ripping out more hair.

Welcome to the  Discussion Forums.
If you are sure there is nothing wrong with the file, have you tried the following:
    1. Open itunes and select a troublesome tune/movie.
    2. Choose file/show in Finder and note the location of the original file.
    3. Delete the tune/movie from your itunes list (not in the finder) choose 'remove' and 'keep files' when prompted
    4. Drag the original file from the Finder back to itunes.

  • Newest Itunes does not sync podcasts back from  ipod, plays=o so podcasts never deleted

Windows 8, ipod shuffle, newly downloaded itunes.
I have specified delete after played.
If I look at the podcasts on the shuffle, it correctly says the number of plays.  But if I look at the podcast list via computer, it says, for instance "two unplayed' where I have actually listened to both.
Someplace I saw the they get deleted in 24 hours but the ipod count never does get updated to the computer.
I have made a smart playlist where genre=podcast and plays>0  and it returns none.

Looking further into this sync Podcasts problem, I found the answer. Go to Store, sign out and then sign back in. Solved!  Have had this problem since 11.2; drove me nuts!  Sign out and back in worked!

  • ITunes 9 not syncing podcasts in playlists

My podcasts all sync just fine (they become available in my Podcasts folder), but for some reason PLAYLISTS of podcasts created in iTunes don't sync with my iPod. If I put a SONG in the playlist created in iTunes, it syncs with the iPod, only the podcasts do not. This was never a problem with the last version of iTunes -- am I doing something wrong? Thanks for any suggestions.

You've hit on a couple of problems, with different solutions (they aren't really solutions, but should help).
For getting podcasts in playlists to sync: click your ipod in the sidebar, go to your 'podcast' tab and scroll down to see the 'include episodes from playlists' section. Click any playlist you use for podcasts.
Ordering in playlists is more complicated. What's changed is that the way you see the playlist on screen is not the way it will appear on your ipod anymore. So for a smart playlist that you want sorted by stationary, unchanging characteristics (like album, artist, etc.): edit your smart playlist by adding a limit (make it higher than you'll need, like 10000 or so) then picking your 'selected by' to be the order you want your podcasts in (album is the order they're in in itunes).
Ordering should be fine in regular, not-smart playlists, so another option is to make your smart playlist, then just drop it into a regular playlist and sort it the way you want there.
Then, please complain about this here: http://www.apple.com/feedback

  • Why does my Ipod touch 5th gen not sync podcasts with my Windows Itunes? Both are up to date with versions.

I didn't see this asked so sorry if this is a duplicate question.
In Itunes (it is the most recent version for windows available as of 2/12/2014) all my podcasts are showing they have downlaoded to my PC. They don't have the little cloud next to them. I sync my Ipod touch 5th gen. The sync shows everything was synced. I look at the "Whats on this ipod" tab and they are listed. But when I disconnect the ipod via the "eject" icon on the Ipod button in itunes and look at the podcasts they still show as not downloaded (greyed out and if wifi is turned on the little cloud is next to them ).
So whats going on? I had this issue with my ipod touch 4th gen as well and though it was because the podcast app stopped upgrading but the itunes on windwos did. But the syncing of the podcasts are even worse with the 5th gen then they were with the 4th gen.
I typically don't have wifi turned on since I want to sync the ipod via itunes. So I have a central place to keep the old podcasts without having to take space on the ipod itself. I saw some references to the downloading of podacasts are done only via wifi, but that just didn't make sense. Why be able to sync Itunes if they are just going to turn around and make you do the same on the device?
    Any ideas? Suggestions?
Thanks for the help in advance.

  • Ipod touch will not sync podcasts consistently after upgrading

I don't know if anyone else noticed this or not. Whenever I have a new podcast I normally just sync my iPod touch and everything is good.
After upgrading to iTunes 10, when I sync not all of the podcasts come over to my iPod. It's very hit and miss, sometimes one or two new podcasts will come over, sometimes none. Usually if I sync again everything is ok. But it is a real pain to have to check every podcast to make sure it was updated properly.
Has anyone else experienced this? I don't suppose there is a fix?

It's truly amazing: with iTunes 10.0 there was a difference how iTunes represented podcasts to ipod and iPhone. With 10.1 it's not corrected, just changed:
During sync take a look at your device specifically podcasts: if it's an iPod you will only see the podcasts that have candidates for download - if it's an iPhone you'll see all podcast-subscriptions.
Annoying and it makes you ponder weather the sw-designers at Apple" ever heard about structured programming. This is not the only case of evidence of coding the same several times

  • Apple TV device will not download latest episode (dec. 2013)

I have bought several ongoing TV series. Last week episodes does not download to my Apple TV device. I see the new episode in my MacBookPro (iOS 10.8.5) Itunes (v. 11.1.3 (8)) and in my Iphone 5 (iOS 6...), BUT NOT in my Apple TV device.
I have restarted all devices (Mac, Iphone, Apple TV), I have done log on /off on all devices several times and the problem remains: last week's episode of 4 different series will not download. My Itunes ID is the same on all of them.
This has happened to me on several occassions already, each time something else solves de problem. I have been having the problem (again) since the last Apple TV software update (dec. 2013). It is usually after software updates that this type of problem appears.
What is going on? How do I solve it now? I have tried all the things that worked in the other instances, but nothing is working now.
    Big thanks,

  • Apple tv 1 will not sync everything with itunes 10

I recently purchased a new Macbook computer and am trying to sync with my Generation 1 Apple TV.
Two options show up, "settings" with actually has nothing as far as settings go, only the name of the Apple TV, capacity, serial number etc and the other options is to sync photos.
I tried downloading an older version of iTunes but the library has been updated to Version 10 so I'm out of luck there.
There used to be an Apple TV tab in the preferences window as well and that's gone too.
It would be nice to sync movies, music and all the other things that make owning an Apple TV fun and useful. Right now it's a small box collecting dust.
    Can someone help?

You've paired your library as a secondary library (streaming only).
Go to settings > computers > connect to iTunes, which is the top option. If you've already got a library listed at the top, select it and unpaid it before pairing your new library as a primary library.

  • IOS 5 is not Syncing Podcast Order Correctly

In iOS 4.x the names of playlists were sorted in alphabetical order. Using a ascii or unicode character made it possible to group certain playlists together without using numbers, which I found useful and appealing. Unfortunately iOS 5 is no longer doing that. I must assume that this is a bug. You can see the screen shots below to see what I mean.
