Apple TV all of a sudden does not play certain Itunes songs....

I have about 5000 songs on my Itunes on my Imac and accordingly Apple TV. All of a sudden about ten songs do not play on Apple TV (but play on my Itunes on my Imac). The songs are listed on Apple TV, but when I go to play them it says "Apple TV cannot play this song at this time".
I have deleted and resynced the songs to Apple TV, and still get the same message. These songs were all purchased on Itunes, they are not DRM, and I do not have more than 5 devices with this content. At a loss on what the problem is.
Permanently deleted one of the songs, and Itunes would not let me buy it again, as it said it was "already purchased". I know there has to be a setting somewhere to allow the re-purchase, but instead of wasting my money, would like to get this issue fixed.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Did you do that by Repopulating iTunes or did you just unsync and resync.

  • The music I buy in the Iphone does not play in itunes

When I buy music on my Iphone 4 and then sync with Itunes on my PC, the songs appear in the list but does not play. and then some songs on my Iphone 4 does not play properly or play other song. what is wrong?

iTunes: How to move [or copy] your music [library] to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527 - a somewhat bewildering and not always easily understandable set of options.
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the iTunes Library.itl file in the moved iTunes folder.
For the record there's this reference for iTunes 11 but it really doesn't strike me as having the specifics you need. iTunes 11 for Mac: Move your library to another computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12168
Windows users see tip at: https://discussions.apple.com/message/18879381
2011 Transferring your iTunes library - http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/moving-your-itunes-library-to -a-new-hard-drive/  - An article with good background information, particularly if you are not sure your media files are all grouped for quick  solution above. Unfortunately it uses the single term "transferring library" for two very different moves; relocating just your media (not recommended unless you really need this configuration) and relocating media+database (really your whole "library").  Make sure you understand the difference before electing to move only media.
If you put it in the default location of Macintosh HD > Users > *User Name* > Music  then you don't even need to start with the option key held down, iTunes will automatically look for it there.  (Make sure there isn't anything already in the iTunes folder there that you want to keep since you will be replacing it with the one you are moving.)

  • I have a iphone 4s and it does not play my itunes music after the last update. Only downloaded music plays. How do I get my library to play?

  • OK - my 4s all of a sudden does not connect to wifi - i've noticed chatter out there on this happening to a lot of other people. Apple seems not to want to acknowledge this as a problem. What's up Apple? Should be better than that!

If this is a widespread problem ... then it sounds like Apple needs to step up.
By their handling of this problem I can only suspect that they have an arrangement with carriers to have the wifi become disabled so that we have to use the carriers... and go over our ... data plans.
6 months to go on my plan ... sorry Apple but after 15 years of loyalty ... I'm going to have to reconsider my next phone. When the customer gets treated like a buisiness ... then I guess we have to do the same to you ... nothing personal. It doesn't take a genius to figure that out!

    Hi Seraphiel07.
I have a very similar issue. Hardware involved:
Apple MacMini (Mid 2011) - OSX 10.8.2. iTunes 10.7. Home Sharing enabled.
Apple TV (3rd Generation). Home Sharing (access) enabled.
Apple MacBook Pro (15" Mid-2009). OSX 10.8.2. iTunes 10.7. Home Sharing enabled.
Apple iPad 2 (Wifi only). iOS 6
    Apple iPhone 4S. iOS 6
    All connected through:
Apple Time Capsule 8.0211n (4th Gen)
I have an iTunes library on the MacBook Pro, shared over "Home Sharing" and another (duplicate content, different library name) iTunes library on my MacMini, which is also accessed through the Apple TV.
All software is current (as of Sep 26th).
All movies are iTunes purchases. 80 in total.
All files are purchased (and home shared) under one account.
My last two iTunes purchases both HD movies on 09/17/2012 and 09/05/2012 refuse to appear on any device accessing either of the two Libraries over Home Sharing. It should be noted that every other movie (the other 78) all show up and play correctly. I therefore know it is not an issue with connectivity, otherwise I would see zero movies available.
    I have:
    1. Removed all content from each Library and re-added
    2. Upgraded the OS on the MacMini 10.8.2
    3. Tested viewing the two missing movies on other Apple devices and no luck.
    4. Turn home sharing on and off within iTunes and also on each device.
It would appear to me that the issue is with the files themselves, rather than the devices as different devices and different versions have been tested.
    All comments welcome.

  • HT201272 What is it with songs that are not from the itunes store, but are coming from cd's and other download sources that all of a sudden do not play on my iphone and have a red stop button in a red round circle around them, behind the title?

Songs that I have had previously downloaded from various other sources, but NOW ALL of a sudden they DO NOT PLAY on my IPHONE and DISPLAY a RED STOP BUTTON in a red round circle next to the title.  Everytime I click on it it DOESNT play.   What happen???? How can i get them to play.,   Why should i have to pay for the songs, and why are they in the ITUNES store and not in my regular playlist.

Amazing steps you've done so far! The great news is this is very unlikely an issue with your iPhone.
I've run into a similar issue lately as well. I narrowed it down to one song that was causing 30 songs not to sync. I removed the song from the sync list (unchecked it) and all 29 songs were able to sync.
You may be running into a similar issue. This may be a problem with this version of iTunes, an issue with one song or a group of songs; hard to know for sure. It's important to narrow down and isolate the cause. Most imporantly get that music back on there!
The way to narrow down the casue add just a few songs at a time (even 1, just to get that first sync finished). Manually syncing is what you'll need here.
Plug in your iPhone, on the Summary screen (shows a picture of your iPhone, the iOS version, Restore iPhone....; etc). Under the Options area at the bottom choose to Manually Manage Videos and Music then choose Apply in the lower right. The music that's on your iPhone now should be removed from your iPhone now. You're now able to sync music manually.
The link below explains how to drag the songs from the iTunes library on the computer on to your iPhone which will start the sync. Add just one song just to see if you can get 1 of those hundreds of songs on there. If you can, awesome! Keep adding until you find the song or group of songs that are causing this issue.

Please let me know how things are going.

  • Ipad 1 suddenly does not appear in iTunes and down not load via usb

All of a sudden my ipad1 is not recognised by itunes.
Also no loading activity via usb.
    I use Imac with lion.
    My ipad3 runs prefectly.

Try something very simple .... quit iTunes, reboot the iPad and then restart the Mac and try again.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • Music does not play in iTunes

When I play a song in iTunes or in the iTunes Store, the Play triangle symbol turns into the two line Pause symbol, but the time does not tick up (stays at 0:00, I can click on the timeline and then it'll just stay on that time) and nothing plays.
I've had iTunes for a long time and it's always worked before. I re-downloaded it and did 'repair' but it didn't fix the problem.

A long shot, but try turning off the Compatibility Mode; it may have been off and something else has turned it on:
iTunes for Windows: How to turn off Compatibility Mode
If that doesn't help, there are some additional suggestions in the document linked at the bottom of that page.
    Hope this helps.

  • Mp3 does not play in iTunes but plays in Windows Media Player

    Dear group,
iTunes will not play a particular group of mp3s I have but the same mp3s play fine in Windows Media Player.
    Winamp cannot play them either.
I've searched the net a bit and found many mentions of it but no solutions which work for me.
Also, these same mp3s are on my iPod and they play fine.
Any clues what is causing this bizzare problem? The files are not wma do not have DRM or anything like that.
I have tried reinstalling iTunes and Winamp.
    Thanks

Do the tracks import into iTunes even though the will not play? If so try selecting a track, then go to Advanced>>Convert ID3 tags and select None.
If that allows the track to play you can select multiple tracks to convert.

  • First generation apple tv suddenly does not connect to iTunes

Three days ago my First Generation Apple TV suddenly stopped connecting to iTunes.  Anyone else having the issues?

That is weird. My Gen.1 Apple TV started to behave wonky a few days ago. It shows in the settings as being connected to iTunes, but I cannot access trailers, there are no settings to access iTunes in the menu either. It actually lost all of the local synced content and after a restart, everything copies over again. It is very sluggish and I have not tried to play a movie yet.
There appear to be a few threads on this, all within the last few days. I really like my old Gen.1 and want to keep it running. Help!

  • Mac Pro all of the sudden does not recognize my TV

    Hey Everyone
I just got a 13 in MBP and have been connecting it to my TV using the mini display port and hdmi cable. Everything has been great for the past month until today. I was gonna steam a movie from my MBP to TV but my TV screen stayed black after I connected all the cables. I checked under System Preferences > Display and Audio to see if my MBP was recognizing the TV and it was not. Could anyone help me out? I have been stumped for the past half hour and need some help.
    Thanks

  • My Word 2004 all of a sudden does not open

I can't open any old Word files with word. It just shows the Word prescreen (registered to...) and then gets stuck.
When I go directly to open word in my dashboard, the same happens.
I reinstalled Office 2004, rebooted, same problem. I hope someone has figured a way out of this mess.
    Thanks for looking into it!

Try all USB ports and different cables.  Test on another Mac.
I suggest that you take out the WD HDD from the WD enclosure and install it into another enclosure.  Then connect it to your MBA.
    Ciao.

It could be you're not adding the files the right way. In more seldom cases:
