Apple TV, ancient Pioneer plasma, Integra receiver..HELP!

Hi all. Normally I would not attempt to install Apple Tv myself however I have been assured its really simple. I am not finding it simple at all. I have a newly purchased apple tv, an ancient Pioneer Plasma (2004) and an Integra receiver DTR 50.1
Bearing in mind my ignorance, I have tried plugging the AppleTv into the front HDMI port and also the rear ports- tried all of the the 6 HDMI inputs and also the output HDMi ports. The apple tv unit has power on and also connects via hardwired cat6 to modem.
I cannot get anything to register on the tv screen - just blank blue colour. It is totally frustrating. I have also been reading that I need to connect some sound but as I have no picture yet this is possibly a bit premature.
Any help really appreciated.

if the tv is not fullHD then you need to lower the resolution
To select a video mode:
Press and hold both Menu and Menu up/scroll on the Apple Remote for about 6 seconds. Apple TV will cycle through different display resolutions.
When Apple TV reaches an acceptable display resolution and "If you can see the Apple logo, select OK" appears on your TV screen, press the Play button on the Remote.

  • Connecting Apple TV to Pioneer Plasma Display model pdp 433cmx

It appears the display doesn't have the necessary hook ups for the Apple TV. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the  Discussion Forums.
After a quick look at your displays specifications it would appear the unit has a component connection and is therefore compatible with the tv. It also appears to have an expansion bay where you could add a DVI card which will also work with the tv. Not sure whether using DVI might result in HDCP issues if you watch any protected movies, you should contact the manufacturer to clarify this point.
Unfortunately this unit appears to be more for industrial prolonged kiosk use than consumer use and your options are a little thin on the ground but component should get you going without the need to purchase anything extra, other than maybe a set of component leads.

  • Hi guys, I recently got a new MacBook Pro with a USB Superdrive. A disc won't eject, does anyone know of a way to eject it? I'm in Morocco for the next 10 days so going to an Apple store is not possible. Any help would be gratefully received, thanks

Hi guys, I recently got a new MacBook Pro with a USB Superdrive. A disc won't eject, does anyone know of a way to eject it? I'm in Morocco for the next 10 days so going to an Apple store is not possible. Any help would be gratefully received, thanks

Five ways to eject a stuck CD or DVD from the optical drive
Ejecting the stuck disc can usually be done in one of the following ways:
      1. Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
left mouse button until the disc ejects.
      2. Press the Eject button on your keyboard.
      3. Click on the Eject button in the menubar.
      4. Press COMMAND-E.
      5. If none of the above work try this: Open the Terminal application in
your Utilities folder. At the prompt enter or paste the following:
            /usr/bin/drutil eject
If this fails then try this:
Boot the computer into Single-user Mode. At the prompt enter the same command as used above. To restart the computer enter "reboot" at the prompt without quotes.

I have contacted three more people that made the upgrade and they have the same problem. My advise is not to upgrade until Apple solves the serious issue, I would hate to have to re-install Outlook...

I can send e-mails just fine with apple mail on yosemite...
Might not be a generic problem but rather a personal problem..
You should try find a fix rather than waiting on apple.
Hopefully somebody can help you out.
More than happy to help with your settings/preference pain... And compare mine with yours...
If you send some screenshots... I can send you my equivalent... So maybe you can figure it out.

  • No audio using apple tv with Pioneer receiver

i am trying to stream my music library through my Pioneer VSX-05 receiver but not audio--do i need an optical cable or do i need to reconfigure my receiver?

It's unlikely the TV would take the HDMI audio and route it via the cable box which is why you have no audio (except through TV?).
If the TV has a pair of audio out RCA sockets on the back you could take that audio out to a similar input on the amp.
Fortunately AppleTV outputs audio over optical and HDMI simultaneously so you can use an optical cable here.

  • 1024x768 Resolution on a 16:9 Pioneer Plasma 4350

I am about to purchase a Dual Core Mac Mini. I currently have a 43" Pioneer Plasma TV, model 4350. The resolution is 1024x768. I want to ensure that the mini will work fine with the tv. I really would not like to play with overscan or underscan or mess with a program like DisplayConfigX.
Also, I am planning on using the VGA connection as opposed to the DVI connection? Will this work well.

I also am hoping to see a definitive answer to this question. It's not a mini, but we sometimes use a Pioneer PDP-4304 (43-inch/1024x768) plasma with a (2004) 15-inch G4, aluminum PowerBook (widescreen 1280x854 pixels) via a VGA cable and the Apple adaptor.
Out of the box, the PowerBook always finds the connected Pioneer plasma and autosyncs to this display (which automatically gets added to the OS X System Preference: Displays menu). OS X and the PowerBook's 64MB video card just finds and uses the correct resolution (1280x768/60Hz), with no overscan issues and no need for third-party, display (resolution) management software like Display ConfigX. However, this widescreen PowerBook does have a native resolution that is slightly different from the plasma's 16:9 aspect ratio (more like 15:9 I think) and it uses square pixels. The Pio uses (horizontally) rectangular pixels, and so the PowerBook output is scaled down vertcally by a few pixels -- though it's barely perceptable).
A 2004 12-inch G4 PowerBook and a 2005 iBook (each 1024x768 pixels and not widescreen) also autosync to the Pio with no problems. However, like standard definition TV, this PowerBook and iBook default to make use of the center portion on the 16:9 plasma (Again, the computers use square pixels, the 43-inch Pio plasmas use rectangular pixels).
I would think that the Intel-based mini's combination of OS X/ and integrated graphics also would autosync and connect seamlessly with any Pio plasma (knock on wood).

I cannot open my ipad 2 after update to ios 7..only the apple logo keeps on displaying..please help..

Power-cycling or connecting to iTunes didn't fix the issue.  However the iPad did restart, trying to install the update but it didn't complete and received a error once again.  And now the iPad is stuck on the update screen with the progression bar beneath the apple.
The error reads, "The iPad could not be updated.  An unknown error occurred (6)."

    hi everyone,
since 2 weeks: i received for 3 times a mail from Apple who said: "you're password was reseted..." but i didn't asked for reset. So i have to re-change my password again. How can i be sure my account is not hacked ?
    Best regards.

I'll add my problem to this list as it sounds similar. First a little background. This is a problem I think we will see from a lot of long term users, so here is my story. When .Mac was first made available I signed up and was given a new apple ID [email protected] At this point I already had an Apple ID that I was using for just music purposes (apps didnt't exist yet) but was told by apple I would have to give it up. They could not merge IDs and would not change them. The end result was getting a new Apple ID and having to redownload all my purchased music over P2P or burn it and  re-rip to remove the DRM. Fast forward a bit to a time when Gmail is getting bigger. I'm invited to try it out and I decide that I'm going to stop paying $100 for email, as I never really used he other features iDisk, photo sharing etc, and syncing contacts, calendars and mail was just as easy through gmail. Now years later we have iCloud. I have to sign in with my outdated .mac ID, at this point I have for too many apps/music/shows to drop that ID. When I sign in with that .mac Apple ID I get the automated iCloud message telling me my new email address is [email protected] However when I go to send email from my iCloud account it is using .mac as the sending address and the mail will not go through. I can't change it in the mail app or in settings. I'm kind of at a loss as to where to go next. I'm stuck with a defunct email address as a username that is more or less a key to thousands of dollars worth of content, and a new email address that won't function and nobody at Apple can press the right buttons to help clean it up. Some kind of system should be in place to change a user ID. Maybe once a year or once every other year. **** at this point I would even pay a one time fee just for my user name to be rid of that old .mac extension.

  • Apple TV not recognised by AV receiver

I have a Pioneer SCLX56 AV receiver, Oppo DVD player, sky, Epson projector and Apple TV 2. I cannot get any output from Apple TV on any HDMI input through my receiver but it works perfectly on a tv in another room. any ideas why this should be? All kit is brand new and everything works fine, except the Apple TV. Thanks!

You should try to find an online forum that discusses your Pioneer gear. See if others are having the same issue. The Apple TV 2 puts out 720P only. See if your Pioneer has a setting to auto-dectect the HDMI resolution or if an input can be optioned for 720P.

  • Pioneer VSX-1019 Receiver Input Switches

I purchased a Pioneer VSX-1019AH-K receiver a few months ago, and have had the annoying problem of the input automatically swtiching a few seconds after being turned on. When the receiver is first turned on it will switch to the correct input for the desired input device (Blu-Ray, Cable Box, etc), but after about 5 seconds it will switch to a different input. I've checked Pioneer's website and it was no help at all. Has anyone else had this problem and know of a solution?
    Here is my system:
    Receiver:  Pioneer VSX-1019AH-K
    TV:  Samsung PN58B860YF
    Cable Box:  Scientific Atlanta 8300HD
    Blu-Ray:  Samsung BD-P1600
    VCR/DVD:  Toshiba D-VR5SU

Hello, were you ever able to resolve this problem?  I have the same Pioneer VSX-1019 receiver and am having the same issue.
I checked your previous posts and it looks like the other user's issue was related to the MultiZone function.  I turned that off on my receiver but am still having the issue.
I have my components (digital set top box, PS3 and WII) running into the receiver and 1 HDMI cable running out to my TV (Samsung UN55B8000).
If I turn just the receiver on everything is fine - the receiver stays on the input it was on when it was last turned off.  As soon as I turn the TV on however, after a few seconds the receiver automatically switches to the TV/Satellite input.  From there I have to manually switch the receiver to the correct input based on the device I'm using and it stays on that input.
Something about the TV turning on seems to be kicking the receiver to switch to the TV/Satellite input.
    Any ideas?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
The Apple TV 2 doesn't show up under devices like the Apple TV 1, to send video and music to the Apple TV you need to use the Airplay Option which appears in the lower right corner of iTunes.
