Apple TV and my Mini iPad
CCan anyone help with setting up my iPad mini so it communicates with my appletv? I have set both music and videos to home share. But the Apple TV is not getting it

You need to use AirPlay, Home sharing doesn't have anything to do with this.
Basic AirPlay: Assuming both devices are on the same network and that AirPlay is not turned off on the Apple TV, then simply tap on the screen when you are watching content you wish to stream to your Apple TV, then tap the airplay icon that appears in the control bar, choose the Apple TV from the menu that appears.
Mirroring: When displaying the content you wish to mirror on the iPad 2 (or better), iPad Mini, iPhone 4S (or better), swipe from the bottom of the screen, tap the AirPlay icon and choose your Apple TV from the list of devices (iOS 7 or better) or double tap the home button (quickly) and swipe the bottom row of apps to the right to reveal the playback controls, tap the AirPlay icon and select your Apple TV from the list of available devices (pre-iOS7)

I just bought an Apple TV and i have a bose sounddock with a mini jack in the back and and optical cord with a mini adapter on it (so optical cord going into the Apple TV and the mini adapter on the other end going into my bose dock but i dont get sound?
Not all the sound docks accept both analogue and optical on the auxillary input - I don't think the portable ones does but may be wrong - check the user manual.
As I said earlier all the mini optical (min Toslink) adapter does it make the optical connector fit a smaller socket, it does not convert digital audio to analogue for an analogue only auxillary input.

If you mean for iMessage and FaceTime, the number is based on the iPhone number you set up iMessage and FaceTime on. If that number is no correct, sign out of these services on both your iPhone and iPad by tapping the ID (in Settings>Messages>Send & Receive and Settings>FaceTime) and selecting sign out. Then sign in first on your iPhone and confirm that the phone number is correct. Then sign in on your iPad.

I am signed into itunes with my id and my iphone / ipad are also on this id but when i go in to manage devices its only showing the iphone. Also just up dated my ipad now its saying not charging when its hooked up to the computer?
If the problem persists, you'll probably have to make another apple id, it wont take off any games or music or apps or anything you've bought it will all stay there, i have two apple id's and i don't have a problem with anything.

Downloaded a new software apple recommended and now my Ipad is not working
My itunes software asked me to download the latest software for my ipad which I did and after it was completed it said something went wrong couldnt update and the next thing I know my ipad icon is not showing on the itunes and its not working as well just showing connect to itunes with the itunes logo and the charging cord I have connected it but its still not working i have even deleted my itunes and downloaded the latest version still no change I need help asap!!!!!!!!

Combining Apple TV and Mac Mini.
Following the threads I think this is possible. If so it will be a great solution. Any comments will be appreciated.
Configuration: Set up a Mac Mini directly connected to a HD television using DVI. Set up the Apple TV connected to the same television using HDMI.
Set up the Mac Mini as one of the five PCs that talk direct to the Apple TV.
Add DivX, flac, VLC, etc to the Mac Mini.
This way I can use the Apple TV to do what it is good at, that is play content from the iTunes Store stored on the internal drive of the Apple TV and the appropriate content on the Mac Mini.
And use the Mac Mini to play all my DivX and other video content.
In other words the Mac Mini connects directly to the TV to play content such as DivX movies, and though the Apple TV for content supported by Apple TV.
Maybe the Mac Mini can play iTunes video content, but it only has DVI output, and the Apple TV has HDMI.
As this would be in the living room any thoughts on remote access to a Mac Mini without hooking up a keyboard and monitor every time the content needs updating?
Will the Mac Mini ever come with an HDMI interface. That would make life easy. Also connecting a large external drive to the Apple TV would be great.
Any comments on this configuration would be appreciated?With the Mac Mini can I play DivX encoded files on
the TV? And control them only using the Apple remote?
Some posts say yes this works if the file is on the
internal drive, but not if it is on an external
drive. Some say to play them when the DivX files are
on an external drive it requires a link from the
internal drive.
The key for me is to do all this from the Apple
remote in the living room.
You can simply create an alias of your movies folders on the external drive and drop it in the Mac Mini's main "Movies" folder. All your shows will then be available under Movies in Front Row using the remote.
Most external drives are too loud, so I was thinking
of locating external drive on my Airport in another
room and have it connect to the Mac Mini over
wireless, 802.11n. Is this a fast enough connection
for streaming video? Or do I have to have a wired
connection and put up with the noise?
I streamed to the Mini for a while but it became annoying. Some shows would stutter occasionally and it was very slow to navigate content in Front Row. I ended up buying the miniStack drive which has been great. Very quiet.
I also bought a Logitech wireless keyboard w/trackpad for added flexibility (accessing video_TS folders, downloading content, youtube), but it's not vital. -

Yutitum pongYou have run into Activation Lock, an antitheft feature introduced by Apple in iOS 7.
You will have to get the previous owner to sign into iCloud and turn off Find My iPhone for that phone. Without that you will never be able to activate this phone.
If the shop where you purchased this phone cannot provide you with that information you need to return the iPhone and get your money back.
The receipt from the shop is not sufficient to get Apple to clear the Activation Lock. You would need the original receipt from when the iPhone was purchased originally from an authorized reseller. -
Hello. I have 3 ipads, one being the most recent ipadair. I want to deresigter the old 2 so then i can give these 2 away. so I need to know how to deresigter them from my apple id and format my ipads
Settings > General > Reset > Erase all content and settings
If you have iCloud set up do this first then the above

Try force iPad into Recovery Mode
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times. -
I have both an Apple TV and a Mac Mini... and on HDTV that I use for a monitor. What benefits are there to keeping both of them hooked up as opposed to just using the Mini? Is there any way to use the two of them in conjunction with each other so that between them, they only use a single HDMI connection to the television? Am I missing some obvious way that the two work together that makes it worth keeping them both?
They are complementary - AppleTV will do things the Mini can't do as simply whilst the Mini will do things AppleTV can't do at all.
They each need an HDMI socket (unless you do not intend to veiw the Mini's display and use it as a server).

I bought my mac book pro from an owner selling. I created my apple ID but whenever I try to download updates it brings up previous owner's apple ID and asks for password. How do I delete or by-pass existing apple ID and use my created apple ID and password to enable updates for my Mac?
Yes, he purchased Mountain Lion on his Apple ID. It is licensed to him. What he should have done was erase the HDD and install the system that the Mac shipped with. Erase and re-install either from Recovery Partition or the disks the Mac originally shipped with. Then, purchase ML with your own Apple ID and install.

I have been syncing songs from my wife's account. Now when I go to update apps it lists her apple id instead of mine to do the update. How do I get it back to my apple id? Thank you.
Were the apps downloaded from her ID or yours? If they were from hers, only her ID can be used to update them. If they were from yours, you can change the ID under Settings > Store > Apple ID > Sign Out, then sign in with yours.

Please help ! Why can I not " move and scale my pictures as wallpaper on my iPad mini ? I can do it on my ipad and iPhone. No one seems to be able to help. I am not alone in this but nothing is being done to solve this problem. I have googled and there is a lot of discussion on this, many updates have happened , but still I am unable to do it. Do you have the parallax effect (the 3D effect) 'on' (Settings > General > Accessibillity > Reduce Motion 'off') ? If you do then you will either need to create higher resolution versions of your images, or turn that effect 'off'.

Wallpaper, icons, and alerts shift slightly as you move your phone.
When you set a wallpaper in Settings > Wallpapers & Brightness, the photo or image will be slightly zoomed and can't be scaled to fit the screen.
If you zoom in, you will need to rescale your wallpaper to fit to the screen. You can't rescale certain photo formats, including landscape or square images.
