Apple TV and reinstalling OS
Is there a way to reinstall your OS and keep all your apple tv stuff on your apple tv without having to re-sync it COMPLETELY with itunes?
Recently I upgraded to 10.6 and I put all the same stuff into my itunes from a backup hd, and I had to delete everything on my apple tv and put it back on. This is a huge pain (I had a lot, so it takes forever to put it back on.)
When I get a new OS I like clean installs rather than upgrades because it keeps the computer fresh. Is there a way to get around this apple tv problem?
Not easily if at all.
Problem is AppleTV syncs are to a specific iTunes installation - install a new OS/iTunes and you have a new 'computer environment' and AppleTV no longer recognises it as the same machine so deletes content when adding library to sync.

I updated my ipod touch 3rd generation to the new operating system 4.3.3 and itunes to the latest. I have a WindowsXP machine all was working fine until the updates. Since then after trying many things. Currently unable to transfer music to the ipod.
Found solution after trying many things that were recommended in the Apple error messages.
The problem was resolved after I totally removed my Security Software. -
My iTunes had frozen so I uninstalled it. I then proceeded to reinstall it. After I got the "Installation complete" message I closed the download, but iTunes was nowhere to be found. I reinstalled it again and again but iTunes would never appear and I was incapable of opening it. Where/how might I be able to open iTunes?
As with anything on the Mac click on the search icon (magnifying glass far right next to the clock) and write iTunes then hover over the result for a second and the "Path:" will show up for you to follow.

Recent ITunes update has caused ITunes not to work. Tried uninstalling all Apple products and reinstalling fresh. Still doesn't work. Tried reinstalling from an old install.exe. Install went nicely but program won't start as it says it can't open the library file.
Now that I have no way of accessing any of the products I have purchased from ITunes, I will most certainly never use ITunes again for any reason. Why throw good money after bad? I will use another MP3 player that is not as cumbersome or proprietary.
Lesson learned. -
Was not enough room to finish. I tried to uninstall all Apple programs and reinstall but I was asked to validate an unidentified publisher and don't have a clue what that is and could not remove programs. I am not good at fixing stuff on the computer and would like some help with this. I have had iTunes for a long time without issue.
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall press on)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

Since yesterday, I failed to update the latest iTunes. Today i tried to open iTunes but it says iTunes were not installed properly. And this error 7 (Windows error 193) popped out. I tried to search the solution by people suggestions, which is uninstall all the apple program and reinstall it again. I tried few times but the same thing came out. What am I suppose to do for this problem?
So each time you have tried to install an older build you have followed the removal steps given in the second box of my user tip, or some similar process, that uninstalls all Apple software components, and cleans the folders those components would have installed to, rebooted, and then tried an alternate build?
Do you recieve any error messages during the installation? Have you, for example, tried the process outlined at Install Missing Components? If so which component will not install and what error message does it give you? I can point you in the direction of steps to generate installation logs if you wish. Actually, see my post in this thread: Can't install iTunes 12.1 on Windows 7 64-bit.
Which builds have you tried?
iTunes 12.1.1.4 for Windows (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe (2015-02-18)
iTunes 12.1.1.4 for Windows (64-bit) - itunes6464setup.exe (2015-02-17)
iTunes 12.1.1.4 for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) - iTunes64Setup.exe (2015-02-18)
iTunes 12.1.0.71 for Windows (32-bit) - itunessetup.exe (2015-01-28)
iTunes 12.1.0.71 for Windows (64-bit) - itunes6464setup.exe (2015-01-28)
iTunes 12.1.0.71 for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) - itunes64setup.exe (2015-01-28)
iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe (2014-10-16)
iTunes 12.0.1.26 for Windows (64-bit) - iTunes64Setup.exe (2014-10-16)
iTunes 11.4.0.18 for Windows (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe (2014-09-09)
iTunes 11.4.0.18 for Windows (64-bit) - iTunes64Setup.exe (2014-09-09)
Or something specific from OldApps.com?
What was the last build of iTunes that successfully ran for you?

How can I get rid of Apple Maps and Put the Google Maps back?
I wanted to know how to remove the Apple Maps and reinstall the Google Maps. The Apple Maps is a very inferior programme and not worth the space on the. Computer. It can't find anything. It's a complete waste of time.
So my original question is, how to get rid of it, and put the Google Maps back?CHances are google maps are never coming back as part of the bundled OS. Apple and Google seem to have parted ways (possibly has something to do with Google having their apps on other devices from other manufacturers but no one knows for sure)
Since preinstalled apps cannot be deleted, the most you can do is ignore the icon, shove it back on a back menu page (I have a 4th menu page on my iPad containing nothing but the bundled apps I consider worthless. I just ignore that page and never go there) and then put a shortcut to google maps on your iPad or find a third party map app you like better. -
I was trying to do the latest update on my desktop for my Itunes. I got MSVCR80.dll is missing. I saw a post about deleting all the apple itunes programs, restarting and reinstalling. I tried that. As it was installing a message came up about "Service'Apple Mobile Device' failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start systems services. I did a retry, got the same message, then hit ignore. It went on. Then a message popped up saying "Itunes not installed correctly" Error 7 (Windows error 126)
Now my Itunes program will not open at all. What gives? This is very frustrating and I am not very computer literate to begin with.Hi Iss9243,

Mostly explained in the title. My dad gave me his MacBook, and I went ahead and wiped all of his stuff by using the recovery partition to wipe/reinstall OSX Lion. In the setup I used a new apple ID and now I can't get iLife apps. I'm relatively new to how apple works its purchases, so I'm not sure what's up. Is it that my computer has a unique ID set to the first apple ID used on it, and if so, how can I get this reset to my ID? I'm planning to get an iPhone 5 soon so I'd like to be able to use photo stream with iPhoto and try out Guitar Band.
Any help is much appreciated.
-Tom
PS: I couldn't find a correct catagory, so I hope this is close enough. If not please tell me where I should be posting this.Contact the App store for Apple ID help. Their support link is on the right of the App store window
