Apple TV application

     I was thinking that the simplicity of the 1st gen Apple TV, for things like storing movies and even purchasing movies and music straight from the iTunes store are the things that really made it worth it to me in the first place. I do love the additions of AirPlay in particular and even Netflix and MLB are cool even though I do not use them personally.
     This is my suggestion, and if I were a better programmer I would just create it and submit it to Apple directly, I have been furiously working to get a Mac Mini to work as a truly great Media server. I have had nothing but problems with this process. I have tried every media center solution out threre that is compatible with Mac OS, ie. Plex, XBMC, Boxee, and many other different variations. Every variation has limitations, limitations that in my opinion are all solved by a combination of both versions of the Apple TV. Storage capacity and ablitily to purchase full movies on the Old ATV, the ability to rent and stream to via AirPlay, as well as the additional widgets of the New ATV. The only thing that I see that is still missing and is very important to some although would defete Apple's best interestes is HULU. However there is a desktop app downloadable for the Mac Mini. I know that all of this can be done with the Mac Mini individually through Front Row (which is going away in Lion) and iTunes, however the user interface is not there in iTunes (the use of the Remote), and Front Row does not offer the ability to rent or purchase (not even the plug in's like UnderStudy)
     Anyway would an Application for Mac OS be so difficult for the genius' at Apple to figure out that would include all these things. It would basically be the new user interface updated back to the original Front Row, with App's that are updatable as downloads (then we can pick and choose what to add and take away, some people love You Tube others don't care {wouldn't it be nice to remove it from the menu?}).
     These are just my thoughts, hopes, and dreams. I would love to get into it more with someone that is willing to listen. I have been a avid mac supporter for about 15 years (still have most of the many mac's I have owned, as well as all the other great Apple products ie. iPhone, iPad, Apple TV{both versions}).

You can use the remote app to control the Apple TV, you appear to be using it to control your iTunes library currently. Using the remote app with the Apple TV will give you all the features of the Apple TV that you have with the standard remote.

I am trying to install itunes on my computer (Windows Vista). After initial instillation I got an error 42404 A required itunes componenet is not installed; please repair or re-intall itunes and error 50, cannot access itunes store at this time. Please try later. I have done that multiple times; uninstalled all components, reinstalled all components, repaired all components, restarted my computer. I have changed firewall settings to allow acess to all of the apple components. I have made sure the required ports are open. All of the components are showing on the installed programs section of my control panel.
I am now getting an error message that says that Apple Support Application is not found error 2 (windows 5). It is listed in the installed programs and I have repaired it.
I am out of options. And help would be appreciated.

That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.

Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

Issues with Apple's Application Loader

I have been having some issues delivering my ePub to iBooks through Apple's Application Loader device. I've contacted Adobe, who says my file is fine. Then Apple, who says there is an issue with my file. Then back to Adobe, who says their help ends with inDesign. Then back to Apple, who says I have to talk to Adobe.
Ever since kicking us publishers off Adobe DPS, I have been having unanswered issues with producing iBooks, which is the way that we have to produce inDesign files now. Namely, I get an issue saying an image, that isn't in my inDesign file, is too big to upload to Application Loader.
Has anyone had similar issues? Please help?

The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
The further information area has direct links to the current and recent builds in case you have problems downloading, need to revert to an older version or want to try the iTunes for Windows (64-bit - for older video cards) release as a workaround for installation or performance issues, or compatibility with QuickTime or third party software.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there are also links to backup and recovery advice should it be needed.

Not possible to delete any of the applications included with the firmware/OS, but it is possible to hide some of the included applications to prevent access via Restrictions.
On your iPhone, go to Settings > General > Restrictions.
Is Restrictions on?
If so, is Installing Apps enabled as a restriction?
If Restrictions is not on, how many full home pages of apps do you have available?

Let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:

Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, does iTunes launch properly now?

The apple email application fails to open

The apple email application on my macbook air seem to have crashed. The last time it worked it froze on attempt to send an email attachment and refused to close. I tried forced shut down, which eventually closed it. Since then it has not been functional. Please advice. Thank you.

so i got myself a ipod touch i have tons of music on my computer i was looking forward to putting on my ipod but itunes stops installing at installing apple support application i am running windows 7 64 bit on a compact i have tried creating a 2nd account turing off my firewalls saving the install to my hard drive and loading as admin and still the same i just cant install itunes on my computer afterbuying a 300$ product that i cant use this is a wee bit agitating and the fact apples support is grade a crap

Facetime for iphone is not available in the App Store because it is already built into any iphone that is FaceTime compatible, and I think that includes iphone 4. You should be able to find Facetime amongst the other built in applications that came with it. However, it is possible that if it was purchased in certain countries where Facetime is not allowed, the App was not included.

I am using windows Vista and having this problem also (not exactly, but iTunes gives pop-up that "files are in use"). Acting a suggestion from another answer in this thread, I clicked on Computer and selected eject...windows did warn me that the device was in use, but also gave me a CONTINUE button, which I clicked and it was ejected...had to go back to iTunes and eject the iPod there also, but it did eject
