Apple TV apps can't connect to the internet
So my Apple TV is connected to the internet (Movies, TV shows, Airplay, etc. all work), but 3rd party apps like netflix, hulu plus, and WSJ can't connect. They get to various stages of logging in, but then go to a black screen saying something like "Accessing <app name>", and hang there as long as I let it.
Any ideas?
BTW, the ATV is connected via ethernet, if that is a factor at all.
As backwards and dumb as I know this sounds try using a WiFi connection. There is an odd bug after the last two updates that can cause eithernet connection problems with some network setups.

Some of my Mac apps can´t connect to the internet, while Firefox can
All of a sudden, Safari, ITunes, Software Update, can´t connect to the internet. It happens in my office and in my house. Have not checked other networks. Firefox wors fine, as does Mail (for now). What can be the problem?
Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
Step 1
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account.
Enable guest logins and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up a guest account” (without the quotes) in the search box.
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
As Guest, test. Same problem(s)?
After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
Step 2
The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on some Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode.) Post the results of steps 1 and 2. -

Apple Mac store can't connect to the Internet and download applications, please help.
I need a help on how to repair or re-download Apple Mac store on my Phone.
It can't download even when connected to the internet.
All other Apps are working and OK.Try resetting your iPhone.
Hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home button down at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that didn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
See if that makes a difference. -
Flex app can't connect to the internet / server when uploaded?
I made a simple app that submits a data via POST using the HTTPService. My problem is, when I Run the application from the Flash Builder IDE, and it opens in the browser as a local file, it interacts with my server (remote server) without any problem and does its job well. However, when I upload it to my website, it fails to interact. It displays on the status bar of Firefox that it's connecting to the server that requires interaction but after some time the status reverts to "Done" with my Flex app not showing any Alert boxes if it either succeeded or failed.
It's really making me frustrated not knowing what's wrong..
Also if it would be an added help, I decided to use the Flex 3.5 SDK to make it more compatible with commonly installed Flash Players on people's computers since the features that I used doesn't really need those of 4.0.Contact the app developer and ask... That's an XML error on the host.

I put the Bt WiFi app on my iPad Mini and now I can't connect to the internet. Please Help
Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
• Launch Settings app
• Tap on Wi-Fi
• Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

Hello, I've upgraded my Ipad2 to iOS7. I'm facing two major problems. First, I can't connect to the internet(which seems like a common problem), no Wifi connectivity as well. Second, the Autocad WS app doesn't work. It keeps asking for a username/passcode combination. Please help me guys. I will be genuinely grateful.
CheersDoes my problem has anything to do with SSL for mail settings? Cause when I tried re-adding it says something that I should try without SSL, and I did what you said and it gives me this "The IMAP server pop.mail.yahoo.com is not responding. Check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the incoming mail server field". Ahh.. this is so annoying, Apple what are you doing to me?! Or is Yahoo doing this to me?!
Thank you for your time. Sorry it doesn`t work. -
Some of my Apps don't connect to the internet. For example, NY Times Web App, says it can't connect. But when I access it from Safari it does (it is a web site and the App just accesses it form the desktop of the IPAD). I have a number of Apps like this. I've removed and reinstalled and it doesn't help. Please help!
Thank you.On the wireless networks that your Mac has had trouble connecting to, do you know which Wireless Security type (WEP, WPA, or WPA2) is being used?
If it is WEP, one of the problems is that the actual standard relies on a 10 character HEX key for 40bit WEP and a 26 character HEX key for 128bit WEP. In order to make things easier, vendors use certain algorithms to convert simple alphanumeric passwords (or passphrases) into HEX keys, thus enabling the use of simple easy to remember WEP password rather than lengthy HEX keys. The problem is that different vendors use different algorithms to generate the HEX key and therefore a ASCII password on an AEBS will be hashed differently on a non-Apple client and vice versa. You may find the following Apple Support article helpful. -
i have a ipad2 and can only connect to the internet on safari but not any WiFi related apps such as YouTube or Facebook. plz help.
Try changing the channel in use in case you're getting interference.
If you have WEP enabled on the Internet Sharing it'ss worth disabling it whilst troubleshooting the connectivity issues.

Safari 5.1.1 can't connect to the internet. Every other browser can.
I've tried resetting Safari, reinstalling Safari, and resetting my router to factory settings. Safari still can't connect to the internet, but everything else on my Mac (Snow Leopard 10.6.8) can.
I recently tried setting up Open DNS just because I've had problems with Comcast lately. But I've since returned DNS to be detected automatically.

Help! All my apps no longer connect to the internet
When I am logged into my user account on my macbook pro, all of my apps can no longer access the internet, safari, mail, skype etc etc
I thought it was just Safari, so I deleted plist file, but it is all my apps that are not connecting. Safari gives error cannot connect to server....
It is not a network problem, wi-fi is connected fine. Other devices connected etc It was working fine last night, and now today nothing works
The weird thing is that I can connect to internet using safari in my guest account (which I am doing right now!)
Do I have some kind of virus? I thought macs were immune from them!!
Any help please!!!The weird thing is that I can connect to internet using safari in my guest account (which I am doing right now!)
Doubtful it's a virus. And when you post for help, please tell us which Mac OS X you have installed. Sometimes troubleshooting is based on that information.
Try a different DNS server.
Open System Preferences / Preferences then select the Network tab. Click the Advanced tab then click the DNS tab.
Click +
Enter these addresses exactly as you see them here.
208.67.222.222
Click +
208.67.220.220
Then click OK.
Quit then relaunch Safari to test.
If that didn't help, if you have anti virus software installed, disable that.
If you have an app called Little Snitch installed, that can prevent apps from connecting to servers. -
Ok. so i did a search and didn't come across any other problems like the one I'm having.
Let me start off by stating that my laptop is an ibook g4 bought feb, '06 (yes the apple care just ran out).
I'm having a problem connecting to the internet on my ibook, running through a d-link wireless router. I'm using my imac to connect to the internet currently (which works fine by the way). It also is connected through the wireless router.
My ibook has a strange ailment. I open up Safari and all I get is a blank screen, the page is trying to load but the status bar is going no where and does the same in Firefox. So first, I opened Network diagnostics, but the computer freezes and I have to do a hard shutdown. (holding the power button). Next, I tried Disk utility. Verified Permissions, Repaired Permissions, everything is fine. I tried to Verify Disk, and again the computer freezes, will not let me force quit and I am forced to do another hard shutdown. I do the thing where you hold down some key while you're starting up to get into the disk utility so I can repair the disk. This returns clean as well. I downloaded techtool off of my Applecare disk. Did the tests, everything passes. So what's the deal?? I've tried to reset the pram. I even did the Apple Hardware test, everything passed.
I thought it could be my Airport card? It recognizes that there is an internet connection in the top right corner, I even have great signal strength (mostly because I've tried this sitting right next to the router). But still, I can't connect to the internet. Any one have any ideas? I don't know what else to try! Please help!so i can't believe i didn't try to connect it directly to the router with the ethernet cord. This actually worked. But it still didn't solve my wireless problem. I'm not willing to let my laptop become a desktop. I'm already wired to a plug b/c the battery is slowly dying and has a life of about 5 minutes. I'm not willing to give up my wireless internet too.
I guess now it's got to be the airport card? how do I confirm this? and if it is how much would a new one cost and can I install it myself?? -
Hello,
I'm experiencing a strange problem. Since I started my Mac Pro (cold start) some hours ago, I've lost the hability to connect to the Internet (Safari and Mail say I'm not connected). However, I can connect to 192.168.2.1 (my router) and see its webpage (it says it's connected to the Internet). If I use another computer on the same network, it can also connect to the Internet.
Weirder, if I go back to my Mac Pro with "no internet" and launch Parallels Desktop, then I can use WinXP to browse the Internet; I'm writing this post on my WinXP virtual machine.
This leads me to think there's a problem with how my Mac OS handles the networking. I have checked the Console, but the only related string I found is this:
16.04.13 22:03:25
kernel
SIOCPROTOATTACH_IN6: en2 error=17
As expected, Google doesn't reveal anything about that (and I'm connected with the first ethernet port). I've tried to restart my Mac, but the problem persists (exact same symptoms).
Could it be a DNS cache issue?
I don't see, other than a DNS problem, why I can't connect to the Internet with my Mac OS while I can on my virtual machines. If it was a driver problem, I wouldn't be able to connect to my router. If it's a DNS issue, where are the DNS caches located in order to clear them (I'd trash the folder)?
I could also reinstall the OS (waste of time, btw), but I'd really like to understand the problem, not just clear it and forget about it.
Or better than guesses, anyone already experienced this?
Any help welcome. If it's a DNS issue, where are the DNS caches located in order to clear them (I'd trash the folder)
No DNS caches, it looks up the alphabetic and then uses the numberic from then on.
http://17.149.160.49
is Apple, Inc main US web site. It that works, and the alphabetic does not, you have a DNS probelm. -
Extreme (b/g/n) can't connect to the internet
my iMac has no problem seeing my airport extreme (b/g/n), but I can't connect to the internet.
I have tried soft / hard reset & factory reset as well, none of them worked. The extreme just keep flashing its amber light.
On my iMac, I have full signal bars, so recognizing the extreme is not a problem. The only thing I find strange is that the IP address (the one assigned by my ISP) is 0.0.0.1.
I tried connecting through an Ethernet cable and it didn't have any problem, so it's not my ISP. The only thing I can thing of is that the extreme somehow is having trouble recognizing that assigned IP and that's why I can't get connect to the internet.
Anyone suggestion? Is my extreme broken? If so, can it be fixed? Please help.Problem solved!
Every time, I feel so stupid once I find out the answer to my problem.
Here it is from another post by 'dwbird':
"Solution: I found that the service name (optional on the setup) may be optional but if your service doesn't require it and you put a service name in the block it prevents the system from working, hence cannot find the PPoE Server and also cannot get an IP address assigned. Guess the moral of the story is that if it is not absolutely required don't fill in any "optional" blocks"
I deleted the name of my ISP and everything works just fine, the stupidest thing is that this is not the first time...
maybe Apple should consider putting a reminder/warning underneath this OPTIONAL service name field. -
Can't connect to the internet in my home yet other devices can. I tried it in other wifi places and it connects without a problem. My home wifi is with ATT Uverse. I cheched the IP address on my laptop and its different than on my Ipod although it on the same network.
Move off WEP to WPA or, preferably, to WPA2 (as recommended by Apple). WEP has been deprecated by the WiFi Alliance since 2004 as insecure (it can be cracked in seconds by any hacker).
Note that each device on a network has a unique IP address but if your address starts with 169 then you did not get a valid IP address assigned to you by your router. If restarting the router did not cure the problem then you should check for a firmware update for your router.
