Apple tv/bose

How do I connect up my apple tv to a bose entertainment system?

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Depends on what inputs it has and possibly what other equipment you have, but basically you have two options.
HDMI from Apple TV to receiver and HDMI from receiver to TV
or
HDMI form Apple TV to TV and Optical from Apple TV to receiver.

  • Universal Remote For Apple TV/Bose Solo/DVD Player??

    Hello!!
Question's on the title, i've seen that the best remote for Apple TV is this:
    LOGITECH HARMONY 700 REMOTE
Though all that said, i would have NO idea on how to set it up.
However, would it be also possible to link up the Bose Solo!? I know it's a long shot of asking, i just want to see if anyone here knows a thing or two about it!
    Thanks!

I use the harmony one it control my appletv, sony tv, sony receiver, dab radio and satelite box
    without any problems
one "program" it using a website in a browser or some logitech program depending on the model

  • Apple tv  , Bose cinemate series 2, no sound

I just bought a Bose Cinemate series 2 system , bought used from 2009. When I plug the Bose system through the tv box it runs / sounds perfect.
But when I use the apple tv I get no sound. Im using audio cables from the bose reciever , plugging them in audio on my tv ( Lg HD ) it doesnt work.
Does apple tv not support this system?

I have the same problem. Here is my solution to passing Dolby Digital sound through your system (this is, at least, how I chose to solve this problem). You will need 1 HDMI cable and 2 fiber optic cables*
HDMI from Apple TV 2 to your TV monitor
Fiber optic 1 from TV monitor to receiver/preamplifier input (e.g., Video 1, TOS link 1, etc.)
Fiber optic 2 from Apple TV 2 to receiver/preamplifier input (e.g., Video 2, TOS link 2, etc.)
For all connections other than movies that you want to watch in DD 5.1, you can use Fiber Optic 1 as the source selection; the HDMI will pass audio from the Apple TV 2 to your TV monitor, which will pass the audio to your receiver/preamp. For movies that you'd like to hear in DD, use Fiber Optic 2, which is running straight into the receiver/preamp. You will get DD surround (or whatever other format you'd like). Whatever the problem is, this solution works. Set up can vary depending on your system, but make sure you're running a Fiber Optic directly to your amp to circumvent this problem!
*you can use 1 fiber optic if you want, just make sure it's running to your amp and not the TV

  • Apple TV, Bose Sound System, Blu-Ray, FIOS

Got the Apple TV for Xmas this year.  COnnected it to my Samsung TV (there are 3 spare HDMI ports), and get a great picture but no sound at all.  I have been reading the various options, but unclear as to what is correct.  Should I:
Connect ATV to my Bose unit
    Connect ATV to my Blu-Ray
Connect ATV to my Verizon cable unit?
Been reading about the optical cable and not sure about how I would connect this  Just having the ATV connected (the Samsung is hanging over the fireplace so cables look lousy) doesn't look good.  Looking for ideas on how to get this connect so I have sound via the Bose.  THanks to anyone who can help!

  • Since latest iTunes update my iPod Classic no longer plays in Bose Sound Dock - how can I fix?

My iPod Classic charges, but no longer has sound when plugged into my Bose Sound Dock. I have tried resetting my iPod per troubleshooting instructions on both the Apple and Bose websites. I have not had any issues with speakers before. This problem began after plugging iPod into MacBook Pro and updating iTunes. I have turned both devices off (unplugged Sound Dock from power source) and tried other outlets and still am unable to get sound from Sound Dock despite the fact that it still charges the iPod. iPod works with Bose headphones, but no longer in Sound Dock. Help! Is this fixable?

First make sure your Bose Sound Dock is turn on, and pick the right input of source.
Have you tried to increase the volume of your Bose system ?
If still does not solve, then do a Restore (not reset) for your iPod, which will erase your iPod completely and sync with your iTunes once again.
Then reconnect it with your Bose sound dock, if it still does not work, likely it can be a problem of your Bose.

  • TS2771 itouch stopped working with Bose sounddock after software update 5.1.1

Have an iTouch that used to work well with Bose SoundDock.  Then updated iTouch software to version 5.1.1  and as usual apple ITouchOS now does not recognize the Bose SoundDock at all now.  Error message iTouch does not support this accessory.  What the heck?  How to fix?  Buying new dock is not solution. iTouch is gen 4.

You can try the standard fixes:
    Reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod
    - If still the problem then it appears that the iOS update broke the compatibility. That happens sometimes. In that case you have to wait for an update from either Apple or Bose.
    - Also, use the communities search box in the upper right and search for. bose. I think other users had same problem. It is hard to remember the dock manufacturer.

  • Recent iphone software update has stopped my iphone4 chrging while in my Bose SoundDock]

It used to work fine but when Apple pushed 4.3.4 all of a sudden i get "this appliance will not charge your device"
*** Apple sell Bose equipment on their WEB site.

Even though it gives me a nice yellow tirangle with a warning message this device does not support charging, it charges.

  • My Bose Companion 5 speakers are not getting detected in mac pro. They are working fine with other machines (including mac).

My bose companion 5 speakers are not getting detected on Mac Pro. They are working fine with other machines (including friend's mac)

Same Issue here. I had a similar issue with my Bose USB speakers when I upgraded to Maverick. I've had the speakers since 2010 and had no issue with my 2006 Mac Pro or my iMac till the Maverick upgrade, contacted both Apple and Bose with no luck but an Apple update fixed the issue.
I wonder if other USB speakers have an issue or is it just BOSE USB speakers. But my Companions did work fine with my Mac Pro and iMac 27 till the Yosemite update with an initial issue with the Maverick upgrade it was definitely an Apple issue not Bose. I have both Boise Airplay and Blue tooth speakers that seem OK it is only the USB Companions that don't work.
Will look forward to a solution.
    Thanks,
    Rich

  • IPod 'blown up' & damaged Bose SoundDock

    Hi,
My iPod Classic, not sure which generation - I think 5th?, bought in 2005 has 'blown-up' whilst in my Bose SoundDock.
The iPod is totally dead, the back has come away and the screen is a mess.
The SoundDock no longer works either.
I'm not quite sure what to do as they are both out of warranty?
    Can anybody advise?
    Many Thanks,

If the back of the iPod has come away and the screen is in a mess, it does sound as though it has blown up (as opposed to you exercising poetic licence. )
First thing, avoid touching any mess that has come out of the iPod because it could be harmful to you. (It sounds as though the battery has actually exploded.)
I think the iPod has had it, in which case, buy new. You could try getting it "repaired", although in that case I would suggest you try Apple. Apple will simply swap out the iPod with a replacement (of the same type) whereas I think third party suppliers will probably attempt to rebuild a broken iPod, which in this case probably won't be possible. I could be wrong about that though.) It's really a question of whether you want to pay for a repair or buy new at (probably) slightly higher cost.
However, the bose is a different proposition. Since you're resident in the UK and presumably have a UK mains-plug on the Bose, you could test the plug's fuse on the Bose to see if it's that that has failed. You never know, you may be lucky. The Bose website (http://www.bose.co.uk/GB/en/home-entertainment/customer-service/for-owners/faqs/ SoundDock-II-FAQ/index.jsp) has a phone number for their troubleshooting/repair line on 0800 781 1274 (UK number). Presumably, they can advise you whether it's worth buying a new power supply - they certainly supply them. They will need the 17 digit serial number of your Bose (it's on the SoundDock's base) when you call.
One thing you should consider doing is writing to both Apple and Bose to let them know what has happened, since exploding batteries is a serious situation. They may even ask you to let them see the devices so that they can work out what caused the problem.
    Good luck.
    Phil

  • IPhone 3G and Bose Sounddock Portable

Does anyone know if this will work?
I do know, that the "old" Bose Sounddock does not work with the 3G, but what happens to the Portable? Please anyone can confirm?
    Best regards,
    Martin

    Hi Jeffrey,
the Bose SoundDock Portable is going to charge the iPhone 3G, although it is making this horrible, clucking and popping sound every five minutes or so. But until the charging of the iPhone is completed the popping sounds are gone.
    @ all
I took my SoundDock Portable back to the Apple Store today and got a B&W Zeppelin instead,.... oh Boy what a difference! For shure its a LOT more money,.... but this beauty is worth every of my hard earned pennies! Not only does it work like a charm with all iPods i do own its also is an ideal companion to the iPhone 3G - it even shows up the "Speaker Settings" Menu in the "General Settings" Menue,... i really did not expect that. Don´t get me wrong i liked the Bose Portable a lot, but i did not want to rely on Apple or Bose to wait for a doubtful upgrade to either unit, be it the Bose or the iPhone. P
Portability has never been an issue to me,.... so i am really happy now with the Zeppelin which is sitting on one sideboard in our livingroom,.... if you interested in really good sounding speakers, do your self a favour and go audit those awsome Zeppelins.
    Regards
    Martin

    Hello, Antozzi.
Thank you for the question.  Try the steps in the articles below to troubleshoot the issue you are experiencing with your iPhone, Apple TV and AirPlay.  Make sure to close any open applications on your iPhone.  The steps to process this are in the second article.

A simple power cycle of the devices and network can resolve this issue.  However, router settings can cause device not to communicate over a wireless network.

  • Dock Connector in Black?

Can you get Dock Connectors in Black. I have just bought a Bose SoundDock System and the white Dock Connector supplied with my Green Nano looks grim.
Is it available as an accessory?

    Thanks Jeff,
I spoke to them as none of the dock connectors supplied with the SoundDock fitted. They told me I needed to use the one supplied with the Nano along with the special spool piece they provide. £250 for a Black SoundDock and I need to use the white Nano shroud it looks dreadful! My beef is not with Apple but Bose really, they should supply black shrouds with Black SoundDocks. I presume if I had bought a Black Nano (8Gb) then I would have got a black shroud?

  • Recommendations for headphones for MacBook Pro.

I'm looking for a good pair of headphones for my MacBook Pro. I'm not sure I'm an audiophile, but I do appreciate excellent equipment and sound so high fidelity is important. With that, so is comfort. I'm not a big fan of earphones that fit inside one's ears, though my brother-in-law's Etymotic Research ER6i sounded great. I'm leaning toward the Grado SR 80. They're certainly not very portable in terms of tossing them in my computer bag as compared to the ERs, but it'd imagine they're going be more comfortable. Someone told me that the Grados need a good sound card for them to shine. He wasn't familiar with Macs, but assumed the MacBook Pro's audio output would be fine. I have no dealer in my area, so auditioning them is out. I'd appreciate hearing of anyone's experience with these and a MacBook Pro or other suggestions. Thanks.

I have the same computer. I use the Bose "noise-cancelling" Quiet Comfort 2 headset. They are somewhat expensive ($350), but they work well on commercial airlines (lowers jet engine noise), especially if you travel a lot. I also use these headphones at work to block out background noise.
I have had mine for well over a year with no complaints. I suggest going to an Apple or Bose store to check them out.
