Apple tv buffering with netflix

I'm having problems with apple tv constantly buffering while watching a movie on netflix. I made sure the time zone is correct but I am still having problems.

It's pretty obvious that the wifi streaming is broken.....
Based on what?  Your statement with absolutely no facts to back it up?
Wireless issues are just that, wireless issues... they are not ATV issues.  Try using a little logic before making blanket, unintelligent statements.
FYI, this is a user to user forum, so Apple will not be responding here.
If you have personally been experiencing an issue for "almost two years" and cannot resolve the wireless problems with your network, then it's time to run a physical Ethernet cable or get someone knowledgable to setup the Wi-Fi in your home.

  • Apple TV started having streaming issues with Netflix

Several days ago my Apple TV is no longer providing consistent streaming throught Netflix. Before that, I had great streaming through all content for many months.
Issues, configuration and some actions already taken:
Video quality starts suffering, then some pauses/buffering begins.
I have tried the same Netflix account, content and network to trace the issue and found out through my Macbook Air and iPad and the streaming is excellent.
My Apple TV is connected to my ISP through an Ethernet cable at 200 Mbps (tested @ Speedtest.net)
I already restarted several times, and restored once my Apple TV.
Software is updated since it became available.
Yesterday, I found a post which recommended to manually setup my DNS to 008.008.008.008 which I did and worked great at that time, but todays problems are back with that fixed DNS and with Auto setup.
I hove someone here can help me with some further advice, or perhaps Apple very soon releases a fix. Seems that the latest update improved Airplay consistency to deliver both video and audio and not only video, but might have broken Netflix streaming.
    Thanks in advance.

Yes, I'm having the exact same issue since the latest update. I thought it was my internet connection but it worked perfectly fine in my ipad and macbook air.
I also have 2 Apple TV's and the problem is in both of them. I really hope apple fixes this issue ASAP.
In the meantime, if you wanna watch your netflix content on your apple tv with good streaming and you have an iPad/iPhone with netflix on it. I recommend Airplay mirroring the iOS device and then opening netflix, it will airplay the video content and the iphone/ipad screen will function as a remote control with all the settings and stuff...its kinda cool...the only bad thing is that you can't turn off the iPad/iPhone screen or it will pause the movie.
i hope this works for you while apple fixes this issue.

  • APPLE TV DOES NOT WORK WITH NETFLIX

APPLE TV DOES NOT WORK WITH NETFLIX, just a black screen and "Netflix is loading" message appears. I can´t even see Netflix´s home page or set up my account. Netflix is working fine on all other devices at home, but in Apple TV.
I have tried the 8.8.8.8 DNS trick, the turn off procedure, the manual IP setting, but nothing....black screen still appears

It started working.....!!!!!  (It seems someone back there is listening)
I "forced" an upgrade, I mean it showed "AppleTV is updated", nevertheless I re-started the system using the "return to original configurations" option. Then it updated again by itself to a newer version....and started working perfectly.
I have paired my apple wireless keyboard and it works fine, this way is easier to set up passwords or so (you can also do it with your remote).
    TIPS:
I didn´t change any language or video quality configuration (scared to do so)
I changed to ethernet (cable) instead of wireless
My internet plan is 6 Megabytes (it was the same while it wasn't working)
    good luck!!

  • My Apple TV gen 3 has stopped downloading Netflix shows. I have logged out and in from Netflix. All of my other Apple products work fine with Netflix.

My Apple TV gen 3 has stopped downloading shows from Netflix. All I get is an error message. I have logged out and back into Netflix. All of my other Apple products work well with Netflix.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
Restart your router. (Also try removing it’s power cord for at least 30 seconds)
Reset the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings)
Restore the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Restore)

  • Apple TV Stopped working with Netflix

For 11 months I've used Apple TV to watch Netflix on my tv.  Now I get this message:
    whoops, something went wrong...
    Display Error
There appears to be a display problem. Please ensure your monitor is HDCP compliant and is not mirrored using Airplay.
Only on Netflix.  I can display other videos and tv without problem.
    My config is:
    Macbook Air
    Yosemite 10.10.2
    Apple TV   7.0.3
    Advice will be appreciated.

Are you using a VPN on your MacBook? That is usually when this error will come up as it's not supported. The error also mentions incompatibility with mirroring. Try using the native app on Apple TV.

  • Airplayit buffering with films on apple tv off ipad

I have airplayit app on my apad and stream films from my pc with no problem. When I send it to apple tv it buffers.
Anyone know how I can fix this?

The problem is I have over 1000 films all in avi. and the only way I can send them to apple tv is with a app called air playit that I have on my ipad.
I don't really want to convert 1000 avi. films to mp4.
How do I get round this?

  • Apple tv streaming issues with netflix

    Can anyone help ?
I have also used my apple tv for using my netflix streaming, for some reason i can access all the movies but when i click to watch them it states an error has occurred. I have now started using my wii u to access netflix and i have no issues. I havent changed any settings on my apple tv.

  • Muffled audio with Netflix

Just picked up a ATV3, primarily for the Netflix interface (better than my TIVO's)... and the MLB.tv app
So, two strikes right off the bat...  Netflix surround audio through ATV3 (HDMI) sounds sub-standard - surround does work, but there is no clarity in the dialog, and switching over to my TIVO on the same movie or TV show is like night and day. The Tivo audio is bright and clear. Unfortunaltey, the TIVO Netflix GUI is terrible.
Also MLB.tv is horrendous... its literally like watching a 90k feed from a 2005 gprs cellphone on 1080p... the blocks are as big as the players heads. And I have MLB Premium which is supposed to have the HD feeds. Both Netflix and MLB (of course) blame Apple. I'm sure Apple will blame the content partners feeds.. and round and round we go.
I have checked all internet settings, tried different DHCP and static routes, swapped out different DNS servers, changed to audio to 16 bit (not Auto) - tried literally every option available on ATV3 - yet nothing helps....  my internet connection is over 30Mbps... and ATV3 is wired ethernet.  A/V goes HDMI to a brand new Denon receiver, there is no problem with streaming Netflix (no buffering) - and Vimeo works great. I havent tried anything else yet.
Anyone else having noticable problems with Netflix or MLBtv?
This little $99 hunk of useless black plastic will be going back to the store soon!
    Thanks.

re: my MLB.tv picture quality... (as noted in other threads about MLB here)... poor quality was during the spring training games. Now they look much better, but still not as good as I get using a browser on my mac mini via HDMI to the same tv (but full screening a browser just to watch a game *****!)

  • HT3180 Anyone having trouble with Netflix not showing up in the internet menu?  I am trying to do a reset, but it says it can't download latest updates try again later.

Anyone having trouble with Netflix not showing up on the Internet Menu?  I have tried to do a reset and then restore, but it says that "the latest update download cannot be done at this time, try again later"

If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
    Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Source list, and then click Restore.

  • ATV won't stream higher than 0.45 with Netflix - other devices ok

This is the biggest nightmare I have ever had with any Apple device. Whether using WiFi, ethernet or directly to the cable modem the highest I get is 0.45MBps sustained.
I had Time Warner come out and completely redo all the cabling, splitter, etc. Today they just ran a dedicated line for the cable modem itself so it no longer shares with the digital phone.
Other devices just on WiFi (iPad, MacBook Pro) get consistently between 3-5MBps download.
I have exchanged the ATV twice already and just did it today. Since there was no difference I then did a full restore. No change.
    Help. Please.

Well after another visit from Time Warner and more hassles with Netflix guess what? The newest update fixed everything.
I did another speedtest with a Time Warner Senior tech standing here and the results were the same - .34-.37Mbps  He said its the AppleTV although he said they usually work perfectly. This is the 4th ATV.
When he left I did the update that came out on Monday. After applying the update I get between 2.5 - 4.5Mbps
Hopefully it resolved other people's issues as well.

  • TS5148 Anyone else having issues with Netflix HD video not being clear?

I have xfinity high speed internet and get terrible picture with Netflix on my Apple TV.

Yes I tried cycling the power on all devices including the router and modem.
No it doesn't make me feel better or make it okay that others are having the issue.
I wanted to make sure it wasn't just my device. Thanks for the constructive feedback. It was helpful.....

  • Apple tv freezes during netflix

Our apple tv is freezing up at approximately 20 second bursts while watching Netflix.  We've done fixes--like using the Google 8.8.8.8 dns and it has been fine for three or four weeks.  Tonight it's stuttering again.  Did an unplug and reset.  No improvement.

Do you mean pausing to rebuffer and then resuming by itself? Or does it stop playing entirely until you do something to restart it?
We didn't have any problems with Netflix rebuffering this evening. However, HD content seemed much more likely to "pixelate" while we were watching it than it ever has before. I updated our ATV2 to the latest firmware today before we starting watching Netflix this evening. Don't know if it's related or if it's just a coincidence.

  • HT1918 how can i use a itunes card for payment with netflix?

how can i use itunes card for payment for netflix?

Sorry guy, but I think you are out of luck on that one- maybe someday if Apple gets Netflix under an exclusive contract.. But for now Netflix is its own entity, therefore your account with Netflix is not affiliated with your iTunes account and you have to subscribe and pay for Netflix via credit or debit card.

  • Aptv 3  dhcp error with Netflix, what can i do?

my aptv 3 don't work with Netflix movies, because show error DHCP message, what can i do?

    It can be caused by:
    1. Slow internet; minimum speed must be at least 1.5Mbps
    2. Busy Netflix server
Test your Internet speed with this:

  • Apple tv freezes using netflix

Netflix freezes on my TV using Apple TV. Is there any type of reset button that can be used? Unplugging all cables momentarily and occasionally resolves the problem but not always. Any help would be great--thanks in advance!
