Apple TV can't find the network

I have had my Apple TV for 8mths.  At first it connected to my wi-fi router without any issues.  Then, sometimes it couldn't find the network - I would unplug the power for a while, plug it back in and it would work.  Now it can't find it no matter what I do.  All other devices and printers connect without any issues.  I have tried everything on the support pages - restarting it, resetting it to factory settings, moving it to another location in case of interference (I have put it in the exact place where our XBox was and that connected without any issues).  I have tried selecting "Other" on the network set up screen and typing in my network manually, it still can't find it.  I have a Telstra Bigpond router.

I would check if there is a firmware update for the router
Used to have to turn off my router a lot updated the firmware and it got much better

Apple tv3 can't find wireless network

can it connect if you connect it to the router by wire?
if the router is set not to broadcast SSID you have to manually type in the SSID
if the router is set to use mac filtering then you need to add the mac address of the appletv to it's list

  • If someone accesses my apple id can i find the location?

I sent my apple tv via post and it went missing. But i got an email saying someone had attempted to log into my account. So that means someone has stolen it. Can i find out the location of that attempted sign in?

I guess you're talking about iCloud?  Yes if you can see two devices it would appear that someone else can get into your account.  Best change your password.

  • Compromised iTunes Account: Apple Support can't find the order.

I discovered last weekend that my appleid had been compromised. I had two charges for $40 from iTunes in my PayPal for an allowance to some .cn email address.
I immediately changed all my PayPal, e-mail, and apple passwords. Then I contacted iTunes support through the website.
After several days of e-mailing back and forth (one response per day) and sending them two screen shots from iTunes with the order numbers there, they cannot find the orders in their system even with the screenshots, copies of the iTunes e-mail receipts and the PayPal e-mails. On PayPal’s end I clearly have two transactions against my balance. I have started at this point the dispute process with PayPal, I pay all my bills through them so I have the "premier" account which I hope helps my case as I do not want to be out $80.
I have (had) a jailbroken iPhone 4, and that is the only way I can figure out that my account was compromised I have since done a full restore and not rejailbroken it. My windows 7 desktop comes up clean with every scan (MSE, Malware bytes, Hijack this.)
My real question I guess is two fold, how can apple not be able to find the orders for these two $40 allowances when they still show up in iTunes under my account, in e-mails from apple, and in PayPal?
Also, besides the slow, inefficient e-mail support I have been dealing with is there any other way to contact Apple in regards to this?
I'm waiting to hear from PayPal as to their ruling before I possibly approach my bank, (I have my checking linked to my PayPal for bills; I know I'm an idiot.)
Thanks for any help you can provide,

tl;dr: iTunes account has $80 of allowances I didn't authorize; Apple cannot even find the orders.

You need to set up a new account with a previously unused email address in order for the none option to appear.  Use the instructions in this article to walk you through the process.

  • Please HELP.  Apple Tv can't find wireless network!

    Hello
Everything worked fine for a couple of weeks and now my Apple Tv refuses to detect my wireless network (which is working perfectly since my imac and my iphone use it as well.
i have tried to reboot apple tv, to disable security access on the network (airport extreme), i have restored factory settings on apple tv and finally i have also moved the apple tv away from a dvd palyer since some people suggested metal could have been the source of the problem... all to no avail.
are there any more suggestions before i ship this back to apple?
    thank you

Where you bought the devices is unlikely to stop them working together with one possible exception. In the USA wifi channels are restricted to channels 1 through 11, whereas in the UK (for example) wifi channels 1 through 13 can be used, so there exists the possibility that the extreme could be transmitting on (say) channel 13 and the tv might only be listening on channels 1 through 11.
Given you bought the extreme in the US and the tv in Europe I doubt this would apply unless you have fiddled with the location settings on these devices. I could see it being a possible issue if you'd bought the extreme in Europe and the tv in the US.

You can call Apple Care to find out which carrier it's locked to and only they can officially unlock.
Best you return for a refund and buy one that's not carrier & activation lock.

  • Apple tv can not find my hidden wireless network

Am trying to install Apple TV 2nd generation.
I use a hidden wi fi network.
I enter the name of the network when prompted, but Apple TV says it can not find the network.
All other devices in my home have found the network.
    What could be the problem?

Just disable the hidden network feature so that the Apple TV can see the SSID .Once connected you can reset it .By the way a Hidden Network isn't a security feature .

  • Hi. I have updated my computer to Windows 8.1 and now suddenly my Apple TV can not find it. It says that home sharing is not on, but it is. This was working perfect beofre the upgrade.

Hi. I have updated my computer to Windows 8.1 and now suddenly my Apple TV can not find the computer, it says "turn on the home sharing". Both of these are on, iTunes and Apple TV, what to do? It was working perfect before update.
    Thanks in advance.

Make sure the firewall and wifi router is not blocking it you can likely see if its the wifi router by connecting by etherent cable that would mean itsopen in terms of ports

  • Photosmart b209a can't find wireless network.

I've only had this printer for three days. The "Easy One Button" process to get it to find a network failed. It cannot find my wireless network.
I'm using XP Professional on my laptop. McAfee Virus scanning and Firewall. (Not that it matters if the printer can't find the wireless network)
I have a DSL D-link router with NO MAC filtering and yet when I print the Wireless Network Test Report it gives me this whole spiel on MAC address filtering and asks to add the MAC address of the printer to the router... but there's no offered solution if MAC filtering is turned off.
I've changed my router security key from WEP to WPA-PSK.
I've managed to get it to connect twice... and to print a test page on separate days. I have no idea what it is I do that gets it 'online' but it doesn't seem to last.
I have spent several hours over the past three days (wasting entire days) trying to work out what the problem is. I have read forum posts; I have googled for solutions. The troubleshooting guide for the printer seems hopeless.
The printer is on the same desk as the router with only a computer monitor between them.
When I print the HP Network Configuration Page it states the status of the 802.11 Wireless is "Disconnected". The printer's wireless light is on, showing that the wireless radio is working on the printer.
I bought HP because my last printer was HP and it was excellent (but not wireless). If I can't get it to go online, seriously, I'll take it back and exchange it for a different brand of printer. All I want is a printer I can print to wirelessly, is that so hard to ask? Yes, I'm getting really frustrated here. I live in a rural area and I don't have access to geek friends or a computer professional or anything like that and returning the printer requires a two hour drive so I have to be as self-sufficient as possible. Please, try not to use too many technical terms. I can understand some but not all and if anybody can help me, please be clear in their instructions (ie, don't just say 'go to setup blah blah blah' without saying which setup you're talking about.)
Thanks for any help. It is appreciated.

Yes, the desktop is connected to the router with an Ethernet cable.
    Yes the laptop is wireless.
The printer is connected to the router via wireless (which I've already stated, it keeps losing the wireless network).
If I don't have my printer connected to the desktop via cable, then I won't have any printing capability at all, because, as I just said, the printer keeps losing the wireless network! I need at least some way of printing when the printer can't find the network (even though the wireless network is working perfectly fine).
So, desktop connected to router with cable.
    Laptop is wireless
Printer is wireless for laptop use (but it keeps losing the network and therefore is totally useless in that respect)
Printer is connected to desktop via cable to enable printing because of wireless continuing to lose connection to wireless network.
In fact my printer hasn't been able to connect to the wireless network for 2 days now... even though I'm currently connected to it on my wireless laptop.
Sometimes the printer finds the network, sometimes it doesn't and when it does, if I try to print from the laptop wirelessly, the printer loses the network.
This really is poor product and the installation manual might as well be used for toilet paper for all its worth, same with the 'help' feature on the disk. I only chose HP because I was familiar with it, since my previous printer was HP and reliable (but not wireless). I'm seriously wishing I'd purchased a different brand.
I'm not an IT tech, but I've managed to be able to connect modems and routers and other peripherals to my network without too much hassle at all... until now.
I'm sorry if I sound angry but this is completely frustrating. I spent good money for a product that I am unable to use for the main purpose I bought it! I'm reduced to saving things to USB sticks and physically taking them to the desktop computer and having to print from there.

It turned out that WD is the big bad guy in this game.
According the data rescue company where I asked for an inspection, both of the drives had their reader head loose. And in the one, which was my already-in-use disk its even damaged the platters... xxxxx
So its time to pay bunch of money to recover, and take a walk to wd service to bang on the desk.
Also note - it may be somehow related to intellispeed technology - since macs not really friendly with wd-s built-in solutions.
On the other hand, with WD GP 1Tb there is no problems at all for ages.

  • HT4557 Hi, we have just purchased Apple TV and having some problems connecting to the iPad. It is asking us to 'connect to Home Sharing in iTunes' however I can't find the link/ button to press. iPad has been updated. Any help please

    Hi,
We have just purchased Apple TV and can't connect to Home Sharing. We have wifi, the iPad is updated. I can't find the link on ITunes on the iPad that the tv is telling me to click. I've also tried turning it on via settings then music which seems to be connected. I can view YouTube clicks on the tv, but not an app so I can watch the footy. What am I doing wrong.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
    Thanks

Make sure your Apple TV is on the same network as your iPad. The SSID and password of router must be set in your Apple TV.
