Apple TV closed captioning text box location

Can the location of the closed caption text box be moved?
It is appearing at the top of the screen when I would like it on the bottom of the screen.

I don't know why does that happen when playing movies directly from ATV, as when I play them in my MBP that gray box doesn't appear, so what I'm doing at the moment is to play them in my MBP and watch them in my TV using Airplay. I know it's annoying, but at least is a way around whilst finding a way to removing that box.

How to align text paragraphs with caption text boxes

Hello,
Im moving from QuarkXpress to InDesign, and Im setting up styles, templates, libraries, etc...
The issue Im having is that when I add an image with a text caption box in one of the columns, the text that wraps around the caption text box, no longer aligns to the other columns, its off. I can't get it to realign to the other columns.
Any help is appreciated.

1. Is the leading of your caption the same as the body text? If not, you have to choose to align the top of the first line (slightly jarring) or bottom of the last line.
2. It appears to me you have the caption vertically centred. That will make it far harder.
To make it feasible to do manually, you can set the caption box text frame to start at offset "Leading", move the text frame to start exactly at the bottom of the image, and make sure all your images' heights are multiples of your leading. Group the caption frame and the caption box to make moving around easier.
"Align to baseline" would be a good option, except that I find it too constricting on the entire rest of my designs (viz. the already observed "jump per entire line only"). One way around that is to set up your baseline grid to half, 1/3, or 1/4 of your leading. That way you have at least some control left over inter-paragraph whitespace, and you can still manually drag your images and have them snap to the closest "actual" baseline.

Closed Caption text not working correctly

I have set Closed Caption up in Premire but when i do a test output embeded into a QT file the first block of text does not show up, the 2nd and 3rd do but not the first.
the first starts on 00:00:00:20.
Any help would be apreciated.

I would highly recommend you do text creation & editing in Word. Acrobat is indeed not designed for this. It does offer tools that do limited adding of text or editing of text, but this is not the purpose of the application.
As a potential fix for your current issue, after entering text with the Typewriter tool you can edit it by clicking Tools (on the right) > Content and go back to the Add or Edit Text box tool. You will see a blue border around your text, when you go to edit, double click somewhere in the middle of the blue box. Double clicking at the beginning or end may inadvertently add a new text area.

Set Location of individual text box - report design

Hi Guys,
Is it possible to set location of an individaul text box to be at the end of report? I know if I have this at end of report area it would work. But my report has a sub report in end of report area and the text box doesn't appear at the end of both reports.

If you are creating the report through code (C#, VB etc.) you could get the location/size of the subreport and then set the text box location based on those parameters.
I don't think it's possible from within the Crystal report designer itself. At least I couldn't find a place to do this.

DVD Player randomly quits when using closed captioning

I have been experiencing this issue on two different 10.4.11 machines, both intel. A MBPro and a Mini.
The DVD Player normally works fine, disc after disc, unless I turn on closed captions (not subtitles, but similar), then the DVD Player will quit randomly every 1-3 discs. I have done all the permission fixes and usual cache deletions, but nothing seems to work. I have also deleted preferences and plists on both machines.
The crash log is usually cryptic, and all I can discern is that thread "one" crashed.
Can anyone else reproduce this issue, or have other suggestions?

Try a different font... here's how: Customizing the look of closed captioning text
You can change the font and color of closed captioning text. You can also change the color and transparency of the closed captioning box for optimal viewing when the captions are displayed over the video.
Choose DVD Player > Preferences, and then click Windows.
In the Closed Captioned section, click the Text color button and select a color to use for text.
Click the Background color button and select a contrasting background color.
Drag the transparency slider to the right (lighter) or to the left (darker).
Choose a font from the Font pop-up menu.
You can customize the font size as well, but the size setting only applies to closed captioning in a separate window.

Scrollbar for closed captioning in Captivate 5???

Why is Captivate the red-headed step child and doesn't have a way to scroll the closed captioning text???
Does anyone know if this is possible? Sure, you can increase the height of the closed caption box, though this is not correct usability wise as it will obscure the content behind it when it is visible even when setting the background of the closed caption box to semi-transparent.

I hope there are no red-heads or step children in the forum audience, or you might just have made yourself unpopular.
Hair coloring and family circumstances aside, Captivate's default behaviour for caption text is much the same as that for most other Flash-based authoring applications. For example, try adding a scrolling text caption to PowerPoint, or any of the Rapid Authoring tools based on that platform that produce SWF output.
It's very easy to bag an app just because it may not have A particular feature you want, and in the same breath ignore the fact that it also happens to have such a commanding position in the market because it actually does far more than other apps overall.

Widgets allow for extension of Captivate functionality in more ways than you can count. How many other e-learning authoring apps can you list that offer that capability?

Closed Captioning Spacing

Closed captioning defaults to a double spaced letter format - l i k e t h i s . Is there a way to change it so it has regular spacing?

No, there's no way to control the spacing of characters in closed caption text. The spacing is effectively specified by the relevant captioning standard. The standards actually define the number of columns. CEA-608 has 32 columns and and Teletext has 40, regardless of the image aspect ratio; CSA-708 has 32 columns for 4:3 video but 42 for 16:9.

Missing text in Text box

Hello,
please, I have a strange error in text box located in heading of Report. Namely, while in Report Builder Report Preview, everything is correctly presented but, if I click Page Layout button, suddenly text is missing? The same error is if Report is exported
to .PDF file!
Like curiosity, there is one more text box in the same location (Heading) that is behaving correctly!
I can not notice any differences among them while looking into properties....
Any idea how to investigate ?

According to your description, your are creating some textboxes in the page header area, everything works fine when previewing the report. However, when you click the Print Layout button or export to a PDF file, the text within one textbox is missing, right?
Regarding the issue, I would like to know the exact position of the textbox in the page header area. In your scenario, please double check and make sure all properties of the textbox are the same as other one. Besides, I Would suggest you redesign those textboxes
in the page header area. If issue persists, please provide the report design for our analysis. If possible, please share some screenshots about print layout and PDF render results.

Help with closed captioning

Does anyone know how to correct the following issue: the
closed captioning works the first time you play the slide. However,
if I return to the slide and replay it, the close captioning no
longer appears. Any ideas?

When you say the Closed Captioning no longer appears, do you
mean to say that the area where it would appear no longer has the
highlighted section? Or is the section visible, but the Closed
Captioning text refuses to be presented on the section as it
normally is?
I've tested here on my own PC and it seems to work with no
issue. I can play a slide over and over and see Closed Captioning.
Perhaps try restarting Captivate or clearing the Temp files and
rebooting the PC?

Sorry have to ask, are you sure the show(s) you are looking at have CC? Not all shows do.

Nothing happens when I click Closed Caption button in Advanced Audio Management

Something fishy is going on in my Captivate 5 when I work with Closed Caption.
I add closed caption text in the Slide Notes pane. Then I proceed to the Advanced Audio Management screen to adjust the timing. I click the Edit button in the lower part, and the program locks itself as it has given priority to some editing window. But it does not appear anywhere. If I click the mouse I get the annoya Windows DING DING DING feedback. Also, same happens if I click the Closed Caption button.
Only way to regain control of Captivate 5 is to hit Esc, to somehow close this invisible Edit or Closed Caption window or dialogue which I cannot see.
Very annoying, what gives? Any ideas to how I can see my Edit or Closed Caption window?

Which OS you are working.
Audio is created by Text to Speech or Its imported to slide.
Try below steps:
Launch Advanced audio dialog.
Click on Edit Audio button. - u are facing issue here, Edit Audio dialog is not visible right.
click esc.
move the Advanced audio dialog to corner of screen.
Click on Edit Audio button - check if edit audio button is launched behind Advanced audio dialog.
if yes, then click on edit Audio dilog or press Alt-Tab will bring Edit audio dialog to front.

I am using the big date calendar template and when I submit it to apple for printing I lose the name of two months. These names are not text boxes. I see the names when I send it in but something happens during the transmission to apple. It was suggested

I am using the big date calendar template in iPhoto. I am on Lion 10.7.2, macbook air. The names of the months are on each calendar page but something happens when I send the data to Apple. The names are part of the template. They are not text boxes. I lose two names on the calendar after it is sent to Apple. Apple suggested I make a pdf file of my calendar before sending it in and check to make sure every name shows. I did this with a calendar I just sent in. The calendar was correct. All names of the months were showing. After sending the data two month names disappeard because when it arrived by mail, it was incorrect. Apple looked at my calendar via a pdf file and it was incorrect. This is second time this has happened. I called Apple and they had me delete several folders in the Library folder, some preferences and do a complete reinstall of iPhoto. I have not yet remade the defective calendar. I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem?

Control-click on the background of the view all pages window and select "Preview Calendar" from the contextual menu.
You can also save the pdf as a file to compare to the printed calendar. If the two names are visible in the pdf file then the printed copy should show them. Contact Apple for a refund. Apple Print Products - Apple Store (U.S.)

Text caption in hidden not exported (export /project captions and closed captions)

If you have in your demonstration text caption (ballooons) in
hidden , if you export the project caption to word it's not in
there...
I use to set some text captions to hidden to ease my life on
slides that contain lots of ballons (and some over other ones) ,
when I export the flash animation, everything is fine , all is in
there (including the "hidden text") .
The trouble is that if i export the "project caption and
closed caption" to Word , the text of captions in hidden is not in
there . (I'm not talking about exporting handsout where you have an
option to export as well hidden slides.)
Exept if I'm wrong, I have not founded any option to manage
the fact to export hidden caption as well (or set all hidden
caption of the demonstration to "not hidden") .
It is really a problem , especially if you have done lots of
movie that needs translation, you have sent the "exported caption"
to the translation service and now you realise that some parts are
missing .... ;(

When you export the doc file as Project Caption and Closed Caption. if you change the fonts and style in Doc file and the reimported it in Captivate. It will accept those changes and you can see those changes in Captivate with the same fonts settings.
