Apple TV compatibility proscan LCD

I have a proscan LCD tv and trying to hook up Apple TV via hdmi.  I see the apple for about 3-4 seconds then a blue screen appears.. Any help

As I only had a few tweaked photos that did not import and they were old I trashed them, but I do remember they had a different suffix name in the iphoto library. Actually they were in a separate folder.
Not being a photo professional I usually do the few changes, such as red eye removal right in iphoto. The photoshop essentials program was included with and old canon scanner that I used several years ago. Usually I would add some silly text to a photo of a friend and send it along in an e-mail. I just thought it might be helpful to you knowing that they were not automatically imported in the original sync. Let me know how you end up syncing your library of non iphoto files, if you don't mind.
Good luck with your apple tv.

  • Windows 8 and Apple product compatibility

    Good Morning,
The other day, I went to purchase a new Windows-based computer at a non-Apple retail store.  I would purchase a Macbook, but budget limitations.  When I asked what Windows computer would be best for basic usage (managing IPOD, managing IPADs, managing music, and basic computing), I was told that Windows 8 is not compatible with Apple products.  The retail personnel said that he had numerous returns of products because their Iproducts were not syncing (in fact he returned his computer).  I have researched the communities and found that there are numerous solutions and reasons for the problem, but the variation in the answers leads me to think that the core issue has not been addressed.
    Question:
    1.  Has the compatibility issues between Windows 8 and Iproducts been corrected?  If not, is there any news of the compatibility being addressed in a future release?
    2.  What is the exact problem and how can it be corrected if I do purchase a new Windows computer?
    Thanks,
    Brian

    Hi urbwebb,
Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!
iTunes is compatible with Windows 8 and you should have no issue syncing any device to a Windows 8 computer. The Windows System Requirements can be found on the following webpage.

  • Using apple TV with an LCD monitor

I've hooked up an Apple TV to a Dell LCD monitor that has an aspect ratio of 16:10 using an HDMI to DVI connector.
It seems to me that there is no really solid reason for the Apple TV to not allow support for 16:10 aspect ratio. Watching an espisode of Lost on the LCD is particularly bad, since it is pillarboxed to begin with, and the 16:9 signal that is sent then is further horizontally squished instead of using the available space.
It would be nice to have this display show the signal letterboxed, but there is nothing you can do with a digital display with a digital signal, you are locked out from any manipulation via the control panel on the monitor and everything is left for the source to decide. If the source doesn't support much configuration (in the case of the Apple TV any configuration), then you're locked into watching an inferior image.
Is there any way that I am missing to get proper aspect ratio displayed when plugged into a 16:10 aspect ratio monitor?

Apple TV isn't a monitor. Nor is it a deck. It is another computer. So no, you cannot route a signal thru it.
You are living in cloud cookoo land.

  • Apple admits to nano LCD flaw in very small percentage

    http://www.macworld.co.uk/news/index.cfm?NewsID=12741
    iPod flaw 'limited', Apple confirms
    By Jonny Evans
Apple's all-new iPod nano has been in the news lately, receiving rave reviews worldwide on launch and a wave of criticism since recent claims that the iPod nano ships with a faulty screen. This is not the case, an Apple representative said on Tuesday night.
The allegation first surfaced on Flawedmusicplayer.com. The site claimed iPod nano screens become damaged during such commonplace use as being in a user's pocket. Some customers have reported the device to fail within hours of purchase.
In one case a 15 year-old boy told the website: "I pulled my iPod out and my heart dropped. The LCD was half destroyed, but there is no visible scratch or mark on the outside of the iPod."
Apple confirmed the problem exits, saying: "This is a real but minor issue involving a vendor quality problem in a small number of units. Our figures show this issue has affected less than 1/10 of 1 per cent of the total iPod nano units that we've shipped. It is not a design issue."
Affected customers simply need to contact Apple to arrange a free replacement unit.
A second complaint has been that the iPod nano screen gets scratched easily.
Apple moved to scotch such rumours, saying: "A few vocal customers are saying that their iPod nano is more susceptible to scratching than prior iPods. We have received very few calls from customers reporting this problem, and do not believe this is a widespread issue."
The representative confirmed the company to have received "very few" calls claiming such a problem, adding: "The iPod nano is made with the same high-quality polycarbonate plastic as the fourth-generation iPod. We suggest concerned customers use one of the iPod nano cases that are coming to market to protect the music player," the representative told this reporter.

I did call. I clean optics for a living, and after 2 days with my black 4g nano...scratches and swirl marks. I could not have taken better care of the thing, unless I didn't even open the package. The people at apple were nice, and listened to me, and requested my unit be sent in for engineering review. So here is hoping I get a non defective one. The 'official' advice was keep it in a case. I have several tech toys with glossy shiny cases and screens, no trouble at all keeping them in fine shape, and as I make and use polycarb every work day, I KNOW its an order of magnitude more scratch resistant then the nano.

  • Will apple replace my macbook lcd display if still under warranty ?

    Please help me ASAP

Is the MacBook LCD physically damaged? Physical damage is not covered by the Terms and Conditions of your limited warranty.
If the MacBook LCD is flawed or defective then it's replacement would be covered by your limited warranty.
    The limited warranty can be found here;

    I hope this helps!

  • What accessories are needed to connect my Apple TV to my LCD projector (VGA connectors) in the classroom so that I can mirror my iPad for around the class teaching?

I have been wanting to project my iPad to my class and the only way I have found is to use the connector. However, I would like to remove myself from in front of the classroom and move around the classroom. This encourages students to take notes and not pass notes. This also encourages them to engage in questioning of the lesson, because the teacher is not far removed from them if they're in the back of the classroom. How can I connect? I've read some forums that discuss converters and many who say it needs to be active or powered, but some of these powered converters are nearly two times the amount of the Apple TV. I wouldn't mind paying if this is the suggested way and it works. I don't want to go through several failed and expensive experiments.

There are hardware converters that will convert HDMI to various other types of output, however there are some issues with doing so that you should be aware of.
    HDCP
HDCP compliant converters will not allow you to watch HDCP protected content such as that from the iTunes Store. Non compliant converters exist but we cannot discuss them under the Terms of Use for these communities.
    Resolution and aspect ratio
I'm not aware of any converters that will scale the output from the Apple TV, any TV or projector which is used will need to be widescreen and support resolutions of 720p (if you are using the Apple TV 2)

  • Non Apple Display compatability

    Hello,
I just joined this discussion and hope this is the appropriate place to ask my questions. I run a Powermac G-5 Dual processor with System System 10.4.6 and the ATI Radeon 9600 Pro graphics card. I have attached 1 Samsung SyncMaster 192 MP 19" monitor with a resolution of 1280x1024 @ 75Hz via the ADC input using an ADC-DVI adapter and a new 32" Insignia IS-LCDTV32 monitor with a resolution of 1400x1050 @ 60 Hz connected to the DVI input using a DVI-VGA adapter. My question is can I get better resolution on the Insignia than what I have by upgrading to a better graphics card? If so, what card would serve this system in a non-mirrored state? The only way I can run both monitors satisfactorily is by mirroring them. I'd like to extend my desktop real estate by not having to mirror them. I tried to connect both monitors using DVI but got poor results in both resolution and contrast.
I appreciate whatever help can be offered.
    G-5 Dual   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    **WARNING**
this link is for the modern PCI express G5, so if you have dual G5 processors, vs dual core G5 processor, this may not apply to you. Given that you are referencing the ATI 9600 card, I think this means you have an AGP platform...
the PCI express options (for dual core G5)
all of these NVIDIA cards listed offer desktop spanning, which is what you want. unless you are a graphics professional, the workstation Quadro card is probably not worth it to you unless, you know some day that you want the option of dual 30" ACD displays.
I personally would take the 7800GT as it price is not too high and its performance is on a different level than the 6XXX series products. If on the other hand, you don't use graphic intense applications, never play games, then the 7800 offers no real performance benefit over the baseline cards and will increase system heat and noise.
the AGP option (for single core or dual single core G5)

2nd the comment on using the native resolution of the display. different pixel pitches of each display makes it difficult to (seemlessly) span, as mentioned, but if you wanted to use 1 monitor for a video window or audio workstation controls, then perhaps that would not be so unusual.

  • Apple Studio Display 15" LCD Flatscreen Monitor to connect to my MBP

hi have an older 15 inch studio display that has the ACD connection any suggestion on how to get it to work with my macbook pro to do dual monitors? thanks!

In order to do this you need to use an adapter to go from DVI to ADC. This can be found here http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=187 2D402&nplm=M8661LL/B

  • 27" Latest Apple Display compatibility with 2009 24" iMac 9,1

Can anyone tell me whether the latest Apple 27" Thunderbolt Display released on July 20, 2011 is compatible with the 2009 24" iMac 9,1
The Apple Thunderbolt Display tech specs on apple.com/uk states the following system requirements:
Thunderbolt-enabled Mac computer, including MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, Mac mini and iMac
    OS X v10.6.8 or later
Currently I have Leopard installed but I have Snow Leopard 10.6 which I can upgrade so I have that covered but I'm not sure whether my iMac is a Thunderbolt-enabled Mac computer...
Any feedback/guidance would be greatly appreciated... Cheers, Sasdaman

Here's a new article that basically covers and clears up all the new Thunderbolt display questions (same things I previously stated).
    Enjoy!!

  • Apple Remote Compatibility

I'm aware that my macbook (purchased new, summer 2010) does not have an Infra Red Sensor. This means that i cannot use a conventional Apple Remote. I do not own an iPhone (yet) or iPod touch. Are their bluetooth remote alternatives? What would be considered the most effective solution to my issue?
    Many thanks
    Matt

There are indeed iPhone apps that will allow you to use your phone as a remote for your MacBook. For example:

  • 4Kmonitor and Apple TV compatibility

    Hello!
I wonder to know if Apple TV 3 gen is compatible with 4k Monitor as Mac like
    Sharp PN-K321
    ASUS PQ321Q
    Dell UP2414Q
    Dell UP3214Q
    Panasonic TC-L65WT600
    Thanks for support:-)

If the monitor has an HDMI input then it should work with the Apple TV. Note however that you will not be getting 4k display but standard HD.

  • American Apple TV compatibility

    Hi All,
I have a question about purchasing Apple TV - In two weeks I fly to New York and was thinking of buying one over there (due to good exchange rate) - my question is, if I do purchase an American Apple TV will it work fine back home in the UK and be compatible with TV and Mac?
    Cheers
    Gary

I am an American living in Germany and I can tell you that it absolutely is not irrelevant. I have Sky TV (British) and tried to use my American TV only to find that I needed a TV that could do PAL.
PAL/NTSC is relevant to devices that specifically output one or the other, and to displays that can display one or more of these formats.
AppleTv can output a variety of formats, and the only concern is if the Tv in question can accept component/HDMI input (and is a widescreen set). The PAL/NTSC business is essentially of no significance with a modern TV.
AppleTv also has 50hz modes (I assume for strict PAL stes) if you want to use them but I have no problems using the near 60Hz standard output on my sets.
I bought a multi system TV for this. My Apple TV (bought from Amazon) displays NTSC but I do not think that it will work on a PAL TV, the tuners will be different. My CD players are the same, they broadcast NTSC only. Frankly, I would not risk it on an item that I can't return.
DVD players and VHS players are a different kettle of fish.

  • Apple TV Compatibility

Please could you advise if Apple TV is fully compatible with my MacBook 13inch, alumimium late 2008?
Software wise.. MacBook HD OS X, 10.9.

It's perfectly fine for home sharing from your iTunes library, but it will be unable to mirror it's desktop to the Apple TV.

  • Windows & apple mac compatibility

I'm currently using the Photoshop CS5 (student & teacher edition) on a laptop with windows 7.  Can I use both of these programes with apple mac or do I need a version of software designed for the mac?
    Regards Graham

Serial numbers are platform specific, platform swapping would require the current version (CS6) and there are no upgrades for S&T versions. Does that sound complicated? If you are still eligible for S&T pricing, simply buy a license for Mac, otherwise your only option is eitehr Mac or PC, but not both with your current setup and a potential commercial upgrade to CS6 and switching platforms...
