Apple TV component to scart

My TV does not have an HDMI socket. Is it possible to connect the component outs from the ATV to a component/scart adapter and plug this into an RGB enabled scart socket on the TV and get a valid picture?
Thanks.

It is indeed possible to get an adapter that will allow Apple TV to connect via Scart. Not cheap though.
Have a look at this website: http://www.js-technology.com/ it's on the front page.
Hope it works for you!

  • Apple AV component cable problem

Hi I'm new, i hope you can help me!
my brother gave me the Apple AV component cable (audio: red white, video: red green blue), I was very happy about it and wanted to try it on my tv, but then i recognized that my tv doesn't has the red green and blue ones for video.
It has red white and yellow (scart).
cause of that i bought this http://www.elektro-planet.com/shop/catalog/images/5525-3rgb.jpg , but when I try to use it I don't get anything on the screen.
    Only audio is appearing.
    Can someone help me pls?

I had the same issue at first when I tried to plug the component cable into the front of my tv. Then I found the component connectors on the back of my tv.
The fuller explanation is there are two kinds of cables - Component and Composite.
    Composite cable has three colors:
    Red / White for sound
    Yellow for video
    Component cable has five colors
Red / White grouped as a pair for sound
Red / Blue / Green for video
My tv has AV 1 on the front, it uses Composite - and AV 2 on the back using Component. Hopefully yours also has component plugs somewhere.
I took a movie over to someone else's house and they only had Composite style connectors. Connect the Red/White audio plugs like normal and the green component plug into the yellow composite slot and you get black/white. It's the best you can achieve between two different techs.
I suggest going out and picking up the composite cable as well. Because, frankly, composite is the lowest quality of image and if you've got a higher quality tv then component will do you a better image. Seriously, connecting it all up on my tv and comparing picture quality side-by-side by flipping back/forth AV1 AV2, keep the component cable and get the composite cable as a "fall back" as necessary.

  • Connect ATV to an 16:9 analog TV with Component/RGB-Scart adapter

    Hi all.
I will use an ATV on a older 16:9 analog TV. My TV has a Scart connector with RGB input. I will connect the ATV over a component cable with a component/RGB-Scart adapter.
Is this possible or need i a new digital TV with dvi or component connections?
    Thanks, Ralph

    Component/Scart adaptor?
Component is Y,Pb,Pr and scart is RGB, I'm afraid they are two different things and you can't just simply connect the two together. There are convertors that will do what you want but a simple adaptor won't.

  • Apple Video Component Cable only for audio

I want to buy an Apple Video Component Cable to use it with an iPhone 3GS and also with an iPod 5G.
The cable will be connected to the TV and to the audio receiver.
I know that this cable is not compatible with the iPod 5G, but in this case I only want to use it to listen to music. Therefore, only audio with iPod 5G, audio/video with iPhone 3GS.
Does anyone know if using this cable, despite the fact that video won't work on iPod 5G, audio will work fine on iPod 5G?
I'd like to know that before I buy it.
    Thanks!
    Andrés

    I'll answer my self.
Yes, it does play music on the iPod 5th gen.

  • Apple Playback Component - Is There A Download Site?

    Hello my friends
This may be old news, but I see that the latest version of Mpeg Stream Clip now requires that you pay $19.99 for the Apple Playback Component. Was wondering if this is a recent development/requirement from the older 1.6 version (which is a version I also have in my other Mac)?
Or perhaps this may go hand in hand with the Latest Quick Time Player Ver 7.6 (472)
I always did fine with Stream Clip 1.6 - made many successful conversions - but I believe these were all accomplished with an earlier version of Quick Time.
The other drawback to this requirement is that the only Apple Playback Component I found, requires you to get the software thru the mail - isn't there another site that will allow you to pay for a download? http://www.apple.com/quicktime/mpeg2/
    Any comments?
    Thank you
    Mike

    Hey Guys
    Thanx for the replies
    Here's what I just found out;
The older version I have is actually 1.8, and what I didn't realize, (as pointed out), you need to have FCP installed in your system drive to see/use/recognize all functionality of Streamclip.
I have two older G5's (both 1.8 with OS 10.4.11), and I use them both for multitasking. But, (at this point), I still need to install FC6 in the other G5. So for now, I don't even see a playback image when I open Stream Clip.

  • IPhone 3G intermittently not compatible with Apple Dock / Component Video

I purchased a new Apple Dock and Component Video cable for my 3G. Both original Apple parts.
On the first day it all worked perfectly. Now it seems I have a 50/50 chance of getting the "this device not compatible with iPhone - switch to airplane mode" dialog when I place the iPhone in the dock. This is about a week old now.
Anyone else seen this? I haven't noticed any pattern. Frustratingly random.
Same thing happens with my JBL On Stage IIIP dock (supposed to be compatible) - I just thought it was because it was 3rd-party junk but apparently not.

    bpezza,
The iPhone Bluetooth Headset packaging has been updated to not include a Dual-dock, and the suggeested retail price updated to $99.
The travel cable does work with the iPhone 3G and original iPhone.
Here is more information on the current Apple iPhone Bluetooth Headset:

  • How to embed BSP Appl. in component

    Hi Friends,
I have created one BSP application with the option of pages with flow logic. Now the question is how to insert this BSP Application in CRM Web navigation bar? Kindly help me in resolving this.
    Thanks in advance,
    Steve

    Hello,
I would like to embed an external url (such as http://google.com) inside a panel
My application is using several panels.
In a panel, I add dynamically different ImageHyperlink components.
I succeed to display in a different panel the expected infos when I click on a link.
Now for some kind of Hyperlink components, I would like to be able to embed an external site within a container of my application.
I read about <iframe> (http://www.codeproject.com/useritems/CreatorFrames.asp) but since I building most of my components dynamically. But I do not think that it could fit my needs.
Today, when I put a panel id as a target of an hyperlink component, the external website is open in a new browser window.
    Thanks,
    Val

  • Apple TV component video connection not detected by loewe mimo tv

it's possible to set the video signal type on the loewe tv from vhs to camcorder, pal and ntsc, i've tried many configurations but it's just not picking up. any suggestions greatly received. thanks.

The mimo was a nice unit back in the day however the specs for the appletv are pretty clear, a hidef LCd or Plasma TV is required.
You might get lucky if you can get the ATV to the lowest Res possible, but it often involves lots of faffing. Basically to use the ATV in any real way you need a modern TV.

  • Apple TV on CRT TV (component to s-video)

    Hi all
newb here, so here's the story.
Apple iTunes film rentals have hit the UK, wohoo! The 160GB Apple TV is literally US$220 more in the UK. I'm off to NYC in 3 weeks so I'm going to get one there but I've we problem. My CRT Sony 32" TV (which I'm not replacing) doesn't have Component or HDMI inputs (which the Apple TV only gives ).
    I've figured 3 options:
    1. Buy a special converter box (found 3 so far), that takes Component and on the fly converts to S-video - all around £70/$140
    2. Buy a new AV Receiver/AMP that converts video signals on the fly (cheapest decent one is £400 Yamaha DSP-AX763, Denon and Onkyo do it too)
    3. Get a DVD Recorder that will accept Component and output s-video on the fly (£100+)
But all of these cost more than I want! Suddenly I remembered ye olde VHS VCRs! Does anyone know of a PAL VCR that accepts Component but will output s-video (or RGB Scart would be even better) please? Or any better suggestions.
Many thanks, and to the lovely forum facists: yes I've searched the forums before posting my question

    Sure man:
    http://www.svideo.com/appletv2tv.html
http://www.threedoubleyou.com/otherconverters.htm (2nd item down - this is the component to SCART RGB)
    http://www.howtoconvert.co.uk/howcomponent2rgb.htm (again SCART)
There's also an Australian company who make their own and a German one (from a well known company), but I can't remember either of them. Will post again if I find them.
But the best way and cheapest is the trick/hack that requires no hacking!:

  • How can i show single photos, not diaporama on TV with the AV component cable (without Apple TV)

    Hi everyone
I've got an Ipad 2 and the Apple AV component cable.
I would like to show on tv only the photo which is on my ipad, but the only way i have is to start a diaporama with all my photos
How should i do to show only the one I am on the ipad
    Thanks all

    @Chris:
I was just referring to the visual graphics (you know, the fireworks, stars and other stuff that reminds me of the 70's....) that you can play on the screen when iTunes is playing music?
I noticed that these effects are not just randomly chosen, they are in fact synchronized to the beat and intensity
of the music, and that struck me as rather cool......

  • Component scart cable

Have a PANASONIC TX- 36PL30 36" which I think, but am not sure, has a "rgb scart".
Does that mean I can use it with aTV, and would I need a "special" component to scart adapter for rgb signals, or is it ok with any brand as long as my tv has rgb scart input? Can I use component cables with an adapter that has red-white-yellow rca:s in one end an scart in the other? I reads that any rca:s goes with component jacks, but that might not be the case for adapters. Or do I better use one of those listed below on ebay, that has a real scart termination?

Also, as the TV has a digital box which must be connected to the (only) RGB scart input (It seems to lose color when connecting it to the other scarts), is there a component/rgb compatible scart switch I can use to switch between the aTV and digital box? I know there are expensive adapters like Hama that converts component and has multiple scart jacks, but I'd rather go for cheaper and less bulky stuff if possible. Thanks for any input.

    Andreas Svensson wrote:

SCART RGB input is not the same as component signal.
SCART RGB is higher quality than basic composite (the yellow connectors) but not as good as component.
Does that mean I can use it with aTV
    No.
Would I need a "special" component to scart adapter for rgb signals, or is it ok with any brand as long as my tv has rgb scart input?
I don't know of any cheap/simple adapters that work but you can get converters to change the component signal to RGB for SCART or composite and probably S-video. These converters are not simple connection 'adapters' and tend to be very expensive.
Can I use component cables with an adapter that has red-white-yellow rca:s in one end an scart in the other?
No that's for poor quality composite video (yellow) and stereo audio (white and red).
I reads that any rca:s goes with component jacks, but that might not be the case for adapters. Or do I better use one of those listed below on ebay, that has a real scart termination?
I cannot comment on the products listed.
If you can find a user review that says these things convert component signal to SCART RGB then they might work, but as I said proper converters tend to be expensive.

  • Iphone w apple component AV cable video dark

why is the video from my iphone much darker on the tv when using apple branded component AV cable from the apple store?
    Thanks Schooner

Awesome thanks! All my movies are SD, don't think you can buy HD Movies without an Apple TV?

  • Problems using Apple Component AV cable

I can not seem to use the Apple AV component cable to watch videos from my iPhone onto my Samsung TV.
I have made all the right connections between the iPhone and TV, I believe. However, i was not able to watch any of my iPhone videos on my TV yet. The AV cable's Manual does mention to set "to send your ipod or iphone to send a video signal out to your TV" - which I do not know how to do on my iphone. I have not seen any "TV Out" setting on my iphone.
Can anyone help? I have bought the AV cable from an Apple store, and I thought I would be able to use it fairly easily.

Just plug the cable into the dock connector on the iPhone and the other end into your TV (making sure the right colours go with the right colours ) and check in Settings>iPod that widescreen is either on/off and that the correct TV Signal option is selected PAL/NTSC then change the TV's input to whatever the signal input should be (Component 2 on my TV) and voila you play movie it shows on TV (hopefully) it should really be plug and play tough it's worth checking you have the right cable for the job Component/Composite

  • How to connect Apple TV to a pre HD TV

I am hoping to connect the new Apple TV to a Sharp Aquos LC-30HV2U with HD capabilities, but without a digital converter box.
Available plus for external equipment are a 15-pin RGB lableed "HD input" and a 15-pin RGB labeled "Analog RGB".
Quesion: is there an HDMI to VGA cable that I could use?

    Macaby wrote:
Why would anyone want to pay another $100 or so for some box to convert HDMI to (DVI, S-video, etc)? First, except for DVI option, HD becomes SD.
This was even a problem with the older AppleTV in that any converters of say component to SCART/Svideo/composite were very expensive in comparison to the AppleTV itself, and clearly precluded any HD output.
Having said that it may depend on what you're primarily watching - if it's a lot of SD stuff streamed from your own itunes library it may be good enough, and cheaper than a new TV if the old one is working fine. Even HD seen in SD may be accepatble to the user.
If it's HDMI to RGB though then no reason for it necesarily to be limited to SD, as analogue RGB can clealry be used for higher than SD resolution IF the TV supports it.
Instead, buy an old ATV with a HD while they're still available.
Certainly worth considering if he hadn't bough the converter.
If you want strictly NetFlix, buy a Blu-Ray player that includes the ability to receive NetFlix via your wifi. However, if you go this route, make sure the player outputs a signal you can use with your TV. I don't think the new players do DVI, but I could be wrong. Mine does do HDMI and component.
There's plenty of competition for AppleTV isn't there....Apple must have other features and of course Airplay waiting in the wings to make it stand out amongst the crowd - at least you'd hope so, as for me it doesn't offer much over the 1st gen unit being in UK without Netflix or TV Show rentals.
