Apple TV connect to early 2011 MacBookPro
I have an early 2011 Macbook Pro running OSX Lion 10.7.5. I just bought Apple TV and the airplay icon is not showing on my Mac. Warning: I'm not too tech saavy. What is the fix please?

Early 2011 macbookPro RAM capacity
I'm considering upgrading the memory of my 13' MacbookPro. It's an early 2011 model with a 2.7GHz i7 processer, MacbookPro model 8,1.
The manuel and apple support says it's only compatible up to 8GB, but other websites say it's compatible up to 16.
Naturally that confuses me.
On a related note, the Apple store sells the 8GB upgrade for $200 but most other outlets sell it for under $100. Is the price differential due to an actual quality difference?16 GBa is the unofficial maximum.
Price differences are simply related to the fact that Apple guarantees the RAM and installation. Third-party RAM is only protected by the manufacturer's warranty. You install it yourself. If you screw it up Apple won't fix it under your warranty. -
I have an Early 2011" macbook pro 13 inch (core i5 2.3ghz 4gb ram 320hdd) with Mountain Lion 10.8.2, and I want to connect it via Mini DP to HDMI connector, and a HDMI cable to a LCD TV LG 32LD340. When I had Lion OS, I had no problems at all.
If you have an external drive equal to or larger than your internal HD, clone your internal to it with either Carbon Copy Cloner or Super Duper. Test the clone to make sure it's bootable. Then upgrade either one. Try it out first.

Vertical Pink pixel line 17-inch, Early 2011 MacbookPro
For the past week my MBP has been acting up. When I irk on 2-3 programs simultaenously ,the screen gets distorted and I am forced to press and hold the power button to reset.
Today there is a permanent pink pixel line on my display.
Is there any workaround solution or anyway to switch off the AMD graphics card ? I believe thats the culprit.
I have a 17 inch early 2011 2.2 Ghz Intel Core i& with 4GB DDR3 RAM on OSX 10.9.4
ModelI see an impressive collection of LaunchAgents, Launch Daemons, Internet Plugins and drivers for who knows what. At this point I would like to suggest a completely clean install of your system (after making a complete backup of course).
At the very least uninstall the Kaspersky software completely, and the same with what remains of the terrible CleanMyMac software. -

How to Connect Early 2011 MBP 13" to Apple 20" Cinema Display at 1680x1050?
My early 2011 MacBookPro will only display 1280x800 on an external Apple 20" Cinema Display. The MBP's specs say that it will support dual displays and video mirroring simultaneously at full native resolution on the built-in display and up to 2560x1600 on an external display. The 20" Cinema Display specs indicates that it supports an optimum resolution of 1680x1050. The 20" display is connected to the MBP through it's Thunderbolt port using an Apple Mini Display Port to DVI connector. No luck.
I've tried using the latest version of SwitchResX set to 1680x1050. It says it is configured to 1680x1050 but the display does not respond.
Anyone had success setting up this combination of MPB and Cinema Display at the max resolution of 1680x1050?To clarify. The MacBook Pro displays 1280x800 and the Apple Cinema Display mirrors it at 1280x800. I cannot get the ACD to display at it's max capable resolution of 1680x1050.
The MPB has 16GB ram so 512 SDRAM is available to the Intel HD Graphics 3000 chipset. -
MacBookpro Early 2011 graphic issue won't boot

My Early 2011 MacBookPro suddenly suffered from graphics issues for a few days then it won't boot at all.
The hardware test says it is ok and my hard drive too. But when I want to boot, the apple appears and the dong too, but then blank screen. It is the same with a bootcamp boot, but with a blue screen with lines all over the screen. The recovery partition doesn't start either. But I can access boot from my hard drive with another Mac on target mode.
Anyway Apple doesn't admit there's a problem a want me to pay the reparation, because they don't report it as a real problem, saying that I damaged the computer. But there are threads here and all over the internet, and they don't want to do anything.
On the phone, the apple guy told me that I had to pay 80$ to see if there is any problem , and " maybe if we see there's a fabrication problem, we'll fix it for free ". Do I have to trust them ? What can I do to ?

Garbled display at startup when connecting to External Monitor - MBP Early 2011.
Hi,
When i connect my Early 2011 MBP to an external display i get a garbled display at startup.
I then have to disconnect the hdmi cable to the external monitor, after which the display clears up (on the laptop) and then when i reconnect the external monitor, it works fine. The problem with this process is that i have to do it each time i start/boot my laptop with the external display connected. The display mode is currently set to mirror displays if that helps.
Would appreciate any advice users with this kind of set up can provide. Thank you in advance.Welcome!!
It could be that you are using the external in "mirrored mode" with the res set above the max res for the MBP screen. On my Late 2007 MBP, the F7 key toggles between mirrored mode and "spanning" (or "extended desktop") mode and System preferences will let you set the two displays independently. I use an external monitor in spanning mode and have not experienced a problem as I have the internal display prefs set to a comfortable res for its hardware. -

Windows 8 Boot Camp on MBP early 2011

I'm on a MacBook Pro 13" early 2011, and I've just upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.3, which should support Windows 8 via the new Boot Camp software. However, I've tried to download the new Boot Camp drivers using "Boot Camp Assistant" but the utility says that on my Mac only Windows 7 is supported. Is this true, or there is a work-around to upgrade the existing Boot Camp utility?I also have a MacBook Pro 13-inch, Early 2011, and have upgraded to OS X 10.8.3. I attempted to install Windows 8 via the "Boot Camp Assistant" utility application, and received the "Your Mac only supports Windows 7" message when attempting to "download the latest Window support software from Apple."
According to this Apple support article, the early 2011 13-inch MacBook Pro should be capable of running Windows 8 (64-bit) with Boot Camp 5: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5634
Apparently this is a glitch in the Boot Camp Assistant, as I've read of it affecting even newer MacBooks. With the "Your Mac only supports Windows 7" message, I was uncertain that Boot Camp Assistant would download the correct set of drivers for use with Windows 8. Instead I went to this page: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1638 and downloaded the Boot Camp Support Software there. I followed the directions to copy the contents of the downloaded .zip file to the USB flash drive. Then I used Boot Camp Assistant to install Windows 8 after deselecting the "Download the latest Window support software from Apple" option. After Windows 8 was installed and opened then I opened the Boot Camp folder on the USB drive and double clicked on "setup.exe". Windows 8 has since performed flawlessly on my MacBook Pro, so I believe this to be a suitable work around. Hopefully Apple will soon correct the flaw in the Boot Camp Assistant. -
I am trying to connect my MacBook Pro (early 2011 w/ Intel HD 3000/ 384Mb) to an external display with a 2560x1440 resolution. Specifically, what cable/connections do I need to display at this resolution? I cannot get the display to work using a "Thunderbolt to HDMI" or a "Thunderbolt to DVI" connector. Note: I used both older and newer (uni-directional) HDMI cables on the first config, and a Dual-link DVI cable on the second config. Apple specs state this is possible ( support.apple.com/kb/SP619 ), but I am at a loss as to how this can be done. Thanks in advance for the help!
You use a Mini DisplayPort to either HDMI or dual-link DVI adapter. If that component doesn't work, something's wrong with either the cable or something else in the connection.

MacBook Pro Early 2011 - Airplay Mirroring only sends audio to Apple TV 2nd Gen
Ok, I'm stumped by this one. I have a 15" MBP Early 2011 edition and an Apple TV 2nd Gen. Airplay Mirroring from my MBP to Apple TV only transmits the audio -- the MBP will resize the screen like it's connected to a 16:9 device, and Apple TV will show a black screen like it's about to pick up the video signal, but no video transmits. A couple of times, video started transmitting, but it was about 30 seconds delayed (?!) and extremely choppy. Both devices are connected wirelessly to a Linksys router with 5 GHz (wireless N) capabilities. The router has been configured to Apple's recommendations for Airplay Mirroring.

This problem is driving me crazy! Airplay works flawlessly between my iPhone 5 and Apple TV, but not with a much more powerful laptop. Also, I tried Mirroring from a friend's 13" MacBook Pro, and it did the same thing.

He has an Early-2011 MacBook Pro, which does meet the requirements. The issue is that it is running OS X 10.7.5 and needs to be upgraded to Mountain Lion to use mirroring. -

When I go into the Audio Midi Setup utility, I am unable to configure my speakers to be anything but 2 channel stereo. I am given the options for "2ch-16bit", "2ch-20bit", "2ch-24bit" and "Encoded Digital Audio". When I select "Encoded Digital Audio", my output automatically changes to Built-in Output. Has anyone been able to successfully resolve this issue? Thanks for all your help!

GreggI have tested it with the Moshi (http://store.apple.com/us/product/H1824ZM/A/moshi-mini-dp-to-hdmi-adapter-with-a udio-support) and Belkin (http://store.apple.com/us/product/HA342ZM/A/belkin-mini-displayport-to-hdmi-adap ter) adapters, both purchased from the Apple Store with no such luck. Have you or anyone else had success with any other third-party adapters?
