Apple TV constantly and endlessly restarting sync
My Apple TV is a few months old, and for a while was working fine and as expected. However a week or two ago, I attempted to purchase a season of a tv series from the iTunes store, and I initiated the purchase from the ATV. Knowing that would take a while, I went to work.
When I got home that evening, not only had the purchase not gone through, but all content on my ATV was gone. Back on my mac upstairs, it was attempting a new full sync of the 2500 or so items that need to be synced (including music). It progressed as slow as you would expect a wireless transfer of all that data to go, but it did progress, however it constantly restarts the sync. Sometimes it only gets to the second or third item (always starting with video, so they are big items at the beginning of the queue) and restarts, once it got to about item 13 or 14 (probably representing a 5-10% progress bar completion, as I said, it starts with large files), and then restarts again. It's been syncing almost non - stop (except a reboot to see if it would help) for over a week now, and as I speak...it's back on track one again.
At least this time, the hard drive doesn't show as empty, there is already about 10.5 GB of data on it and about 3.5 GB of photos, so some content clearly got across....so why does it need to copy that content again (it always starts with the same file, so yes, it's repeating).

test by connecting both devices to the router by ethernet cables

My Nano shuts off in the middle of playing music/podcasts. It won´ respond until plugged in, then apple logo appears and it restarts. I restored factory settings and installed the newest OS which worked for a week, but it´s the same problem today. It happens while at 50% power or better (according to battery icon).
It sounds like the battery itself is going bad, which is likely given the age of the 4G Nanos. You'll want to have your iPod serviced by Apple or a third party service center to have them swap the battery out. Otherwise, it's time to start investing in a new iPod.

I am a new apple/ipad user and trying to transfer photos to my new ipad2 from my windows pc using itunes. The pictures all transfered to my ipad in one very large folder (My Pictures) on the ipad2 instead of the multipule folders that were on my pc. Do I have to re sort all of them into folders on the ipad2 or is it possible to sync the seperate folders to the ipad2?
Create main folder e.g. Folder A, then sub-folders inside A e.g. B, C, D and have your Photos in B, C, D.
In iTunes Sync, click your device on the left Pane, then on right pane select "Photo" tab.
Make sure Sync photo box is checked, then select folder A, then All folders box within the selection.
Click Apply or Sync button at the lower right window.
you will have B,C,D folders under Albums. -
I have 2 Apple TV's in my home. One is 2nd Generation and the other is 3rd Generation. One one that is 2nd Gen cannot connect to the internet. First I restarted, the I rest it and I even changed the password. still no connection. So I purchased the 3rd Gen TV and I have to same problem, but they are in different rooms. Before I had no problem with my 2nd Gen TV, but then one day it did not connect. I even had my internet provider come and check my internet and it worked ok, but no connection with the Apple TV. I have tried everything but no results. Somebody please help me.

why has Apple taken the ical and address book sync option away from itunes iphone info tab on the new OS Mavericks ???? Absolutley insane !!!!
Independent of iCloud, here are a couple more options:
1) You could sync with Google
2) You could set up OS X Server ($19.99 download on the Mac App Store) and set up a CalDAV server and a CardDAV server on your local network, and use that to sync. A few articles have been written on that, Google for some of those terms and you should find a walkthrough.
What you CANNOT do is a tethered sync via iTunes. Given it was removed, I highly doubt it's coming back. -

Apple TV constantly wipes my library and re-syncs entire library

For several months now ATV has randomly and repeatedly wiped the entire library and starts re-syncing everything - some 3000 items. It is unusable.
ATV syncs with my MBP. All are running the latest version of everything. This problem is not specific to ATV 2.4 as I have had this issue for the last two software updates at least.
The last time I opened up iTunes - ATV appeared. Sync'd two new items - great. Then 20mins later it appeared as though my 50meg Broadband had turned into a dial up service. On checking iTunes I found it had started to sync my entire library again to ATV via wifi hence the v.slow connection.
Why is it doing this and how can I stop it. I have to keep connecting via ethernet to re sync the library and that is a nightmare as well, often involving re starting both MBP and ATV several times just to get it to talk to each other - keep getting a warning telling me the firewall is preventing a connection (I only use the built in OS X firewall which is set to allow everything?).

Xander04I think taking it in and getting a replacement is probably a good step. Obviously this issue can be very frustrating (I know it was for me, until I figured out what was causing it). I think Apple will be happy to work with you and at least replace the unit if it may be faulty (afterall, the apple tv generates lots of itunes sales if working properly ). If you return home with a new unit and notice the issue persists, at least you've ruled out that it's a fault w/ the Apple TV hardware and that it may be something with your specific setup.
For my issue, it was that the iTunes Library persistent ID (located in the xml file and the itunes library file) was not unique on our machines. Although itunes wasn't opened frequently, the second I fired up itunes with another computer it completely erased the Apple TV. I only discovered this when I was at my dad's house b/c his itunes was setup the same way as mine. We had only setup the Apple TV with his iMac, yet it was syncing with his MacBook Pro and his iMac at the same time (you can only sync an apple tv with one computer and both were syncing at the same time!!!). Migration assistant immediately popped into my head but this could also happen by copying an iTunes music folder from one computer to another overwriting the original library file.
A utility that I've used to troubleshoot the Apple TV that I've liked is Bonjour Browser. It will show you everything Bonjour is doing behind the scenes (as well as the Apple TV services that should be running). If running properly, you should notice a listing for your apple tv under these 3 services:
_appletv-itunes.tcp - shows computers available for apple tvs
_appletv.tcp - shows apple tvs
_touch-able.tcp - shows computers and apple tvs
Still, I would definitely suggest testing with a different router as I've found older routers to be flakey with wireless signal with age. Please update us with anything you discover as I know I'd be happy to help. Good luck solving everything. -
It all started with a blank screen on a frozen iPhone. Doing the sleep and home button reset seemd to solve the problem, but then the apple logo started to show in the middle of calls, and finally, mail, camera, facebook and pulse apps failed to start, returning to the home screen after a few seconds. So it looked like a restore with ITunes was the solution. I was able to back up the iPhone. The restore process sems to start fine, but the process cycles forever, at step 3 of 4, display "Restarting Sync" and goes again. It seems it can´t pass from step 3.
I have tried doing the restore from recovery mode with the same result. IOS is 6 and ITunes is 10.7.
An interesting thing, is that as I kiled the restore process and disconnected the iPhone from the USB cable connected at the Mac Book and then used the phone as "Normal" it seemed that all the data and settings where restored, but not the apps; camera and mail keep failing to start, but the interesting thing is that the battery drains very quickly, in a matter of 4 hours.
Any suggestions or ideas will be very welcomed.Try Recovery Mode:
1. Start iTunes.
2. Plug phone into a USB port on the computer, not an external hub or keyboard port.
3. Press both home and sleep/wake buttons until the Apple logo reappears, then continue pressing the home button alone until iTunes detects the phone in Recovery Mode.
4. Follow the prompts to restore.
If recovery mode doesn't work, you likely have a hardware problem that needs service/replacement -
My delete button in my to do's closes the app. I've closed all the background running apps and have restarted my phone and even tried syncing to my iTunes. It's driving me nuts. Please help!

Why, after three months of apple tv working perfectly fine, is it now cutting out constantly and the audio and video out of sinc?

Firstly restart router and AppleTv after unpowering to see if that helps - may or may not but quick and easy to try.
Connection via ethernet or wifi? If wifi are there any new devices in the house which may be causing interference or new neighbouring networks? If feasible try to eliminate wifi issues by using an ethernet connection.

This problem seems to have started around October 28, it appears to affect content purchased only on other devices but played on the Apple TV 1.
There have been other workarounds suggested from time to time, but I have found the simplest solution is to purchase something on the Apple TV 1 directly (There may be free content in some locations and this appears to work just as well).
Once the content has been purchased, it will not only play as normal, but will also allow all other content purchased on other devices after October 28 to play as well.
Some have reported that it's necessary to restart the Apple TV before and/or after purchase, but I found it worked without. -
I have done absalutely nothing to my 4g apple ipod touch, and it over heats, won't hold a charge, and the front camera will not work. I bought this brand new in december, and i've barely used it. I've tried restarting it and everything, I honestly think this is out raging because i spend over $200 on this. To have for music and instagram. I use it about an hour a day, but i've only been using it for about 3 months although i've had it since December. Any suggestions that may help me?

- A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod
