Apple tv could not connect to library

Hi, my apple tv (2nd generation) doesn't connect to my itunes library. It reconizes my computer and my housband from home sharing, his a PC it loads the library, but mine from 3 days now, shows always the same message "apple tv could not connect Ana Carolinaa's library". I did every thing the troubleshoting sugested me, but nothing works. It worked perfectly from 3 weeks and now just don't work!!! Can some one help me please?

I have exactly the same problem. I even remove and install itunes again but it still same. I have the apple tv icon in itunes and can send video or music which is playing in itunes to Apple TV  but when I choose from Apple TV to connect to the computer it says: "Apple TV could not to Library" ??
Any idea?

  • Recover redemption codes/Apple configurator could not open your library

    Hi,
I closed Apple Configurator down when a couple of iPads weren't responding and not unsupervising as they were supposed to. When I started it back up it said "Apple Configurator could not open your library. The file couldn't be opened.' I've tried restarting, updating, and searching google for a fix.
I did come across this: Re: Apple Configurator 1.2 "The file couldn't be opened", but when I went to search for ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.configurator, it turned out that the directory doesn't even exist.
I don't have Time Machine enabled on this macbook, and we have a number of redemption codes at risk of being lost here as everything is saved in that configuration.
Alternatively could someone please advise if/how it's possible to use the redemption codes we had purchased again - if we were to start again with a brand new installation of AC?
I would greatly appreciate some support with this issue.
    Many thanks,
    Martin

This has happened to me a few times and in each instance it has been solved by going to the computer and toggling sharing on and off. If this alone doesn't solve your problem try rebooting the computer and then the ATV.
The error message, suggesting that you make sure your computer and ATV are on the same network isn't likely to be helpful, especially if your ATV and computer are both connected via  Ethernet. Most likely your ATV just isn't able to get a share connection from the computer and the above should solve that problem.

  • HT200261 Configurator Error. Apple Configurator could not open your library. The file couldn't be opened because it isn't in the correct format.

I was using configurator without trouble.  Unfortunately, my battery died and my computer went down.  I plugged my computer in, restarted it and tried to open configurator.  Now this is the error I am getting.  Apple Configurator could not open your library. The file couldn’t be opened because it isn’t in the correct format.  How do I fix this?

Thank you for responding. The number 2 after the file final cut events is temporary so I can copy it to another drive while I am working on this.  . i got a new message that reads...

  • Apple Configurator could not open your library

    Hello all,
I am having an issue with apple configurator.  It froze up while I was running app and iOS updates on an iPad and I had to Force Quit Configurator.  When i tried to reopen i got the error that says  "Apple Configurator could not open your library. The file couldn't be opened."
My latest backup of this computer is a bit old so I am trying not to have to restore this computer with that backup and have to backtrack a bunch.  Anyone have any ideas on how to get the library back or restore it without having to fully restore from a backup of the computer.
    thanks

I've had the same error appear as well and have managed to fix it.
Inside the /Users/Shared/SC Info folder is a file named "SC Info.sidb". Both the file and the folder are hidden so you'll have to remove it using Terminal.
    rm /Users/Shared/SC\ Info/SC\ Info.sidb
Delete this file and it will work again.

  • HT1595 Could Not Connect to Library Issues - iTunes 11

My apple tv 2nd gen gives me the error message "could not connect to xxx library."  I have restarted the apple tv, router and modem and I have also reset the apple tv.  The apple tv will Airplay from my iPad and my iPhone 5 so it's on the same network.  All this started when I updated to iTunes 11.  I am using a PC for my library but I have an Airport Extreme, iPad 2, and iPhone 5.  Like I said, Airplay works from other devices but not from my PC.  I have checked the firewall and it allows iTunes.

I have been experiencing this lately as well. I too am on iTunes 11. The only resolution I have found is to go into the Apple TV settings, general, network, select the Wi-Fi network you are assigned to, select Forget Network, and then re-log into the network.
The three times it has not been able to access my library this seems to clear it up. Hope for the short term this helps.

  • Apple TV can not connect to Library

My Apple TV (2nd Generation) all of a sudden stopped connecting to my iTunes Library.
Here's what I've done so far:
    1: Restarted iTunes - Failed
2: Unplugged, waited 30 seconds and plugged  back in Apple TV: Failed
3: Restarted Macbook (running 10.8.2): Failed
    4. Rebooted router: Failed
5: Repeated all of the above at once: Failed.
The error message I get after 2-3 minutes of "Loading "Johnathan Olesen's Library"......" is:
"Could not connect to "Johnathan Olesens Library" Make sure the computer is on the same network (check) as your Apple TV (check), the iTunes verson is up to date (check 11.0.1) and iTunes is running (check)"
everything checks out, and I see no particular reason this should NOT be working. It was working Sunday Night-as I was beaming some TV shows from iTunes to my TV. Last night, I watched a TV show on hulu-and than went to turn a cartoon on for my daughter (which was in iTunes) and it started happening. I'm not sure the issue-any help?

PROBLEM SOLVED! holy crap i feel dumb.
Connect360 was running in the background on my Mac. I've noticed when I have my Mac streaming to my Apple TV, and when Connect360 is pulling from iTunes as well-they like to fight. I disabled Connect360 and my library popped right up.
    Thanks for the help.

  • Apple tv can not connect to library when wired to modem instead of wifi

My network consists of a Fios router, which I have shut off the wireless on. That is wired into a Nighthawk wireless router. So, there is only 1 wifi network.
The Fios router is wired directly into 3 Apple TVs.  I am unable to airplay onto the AppleTVs nor is AppleTV able to find my Library (it finds the name and then can not connect). I presume the issue relates to the AppleTVs being wired into the modem - and even though that is wired directly into my wireless router, when I am on a wireless device in my house, it can not reach through the wifi router and to the modem, which connects to the AppleTVs. Similarly, the AppleTVs seem unable to reach back through the Fios router, through the wired connection to the wireless router, which is connected via wifi with my computer with iTunes running on it. Other than wiring the AppleTVs directly into the wireless router (instead of the Fios modem). I would have thought that the modem and wireless router would act as a single network if wired together, but that appears not to be the case. Thank you

  • Apple TV Could not connect to the server

My ATV2 is telling me it cannot connect to the server!
What server? It seems to connect fine to my computer's iTunes and it also plays previews of movies and tv shows from the rental store fine. So why cant it actually start downloading a rental?
It's pretty sad that there's no help or further details on the ATV2. It just says try again.
I hope Apple doesn't start screwing up the iTunes server for ATV2 the way they are always screwing up access to their MobileMe servers.

I'm having the same issue with my ATV2.  Just downloaded the newest update and updated the settings since it does a complete reset.  Every time I try and connect to iTunes, I get "Unable to Sign In"   Apple TV can't connect at this time.  Please try later".  I've unsuccessfully made multiple attempts to "try later", but no luck.
    Anyone have any ideas?  Thanks.

  • Apple TV "Could not connect to [my apple ID's]Library

    Hi
Since Yosemite I can no longer connect to my apple ID's library for pictures for the Apple TV screen saver (iTunes on, home sharing on, Apple TV and iTunes updated to the latest version, same network, etc.). Solutions?
    Thanks!

Apple TV2 is now running perfectly. First I assigned a static IP address to ATV2. But still it disconnected after 1 hour. This brought me the idea to set the renewal time for the WPA key in my router settings to 0 (before it was 3600 seconds). That was it.

  • TS3276 Mail Connection Doctor says: "Could not connect to Apple Server's STMP. As Verizon is my ISP is this the right STMP? If yes, how do I connect to Apple Server

When using Mail Connection Doctor two error messages come up with regards to sending and receiving mail from my @mac.com account.
The first one says that my @mac.com account: "Could not connect to this MobileMe IMAP server." How do I fix this? Is this caused by the way I have set my preferences? Is this related to joing iCloud? Or my ISP Verizon the problem?
The second one says in reference to my Apple Server: "Could not connect to this STMP server. Check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the Account perferences. Also verify that the server supports SSL. If it does not, deselect the "Use SSL checkbox in the Advanced tabe of Account preferences." This box was not checked.  Two days ago these problems did not exist.  Again, how do I figure out who to discusses these problems with?

  • Apple TV does not connect to my iTunes Library

Apple TV has worked perfectly for the past couple of years but over the past couple of months the same message keeps appearing "could not connect to "my" Library". I have checked the following:
    iTunes is up to date
Home sharing is turned 'on' on computer and Apple TV
Wi-fi is on and signal strength is very good
Computer and Apple TV is on the same network
Restarted computer, router and Apple TV
    Firewall is turned off
    Apple TV has been reset
Apple TV works for You Tube and TV channel apps on my iPhone and iPad
The Apple TV device is a 2 or 3.
Computer is a Mac and is only a few months old
Tired connecting with Ethernet cable which made no difference.
    What else could it be?????

    Hey mustangtony,
Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, the Apple TV is having trouble with Home Sharing. It looks like you have already done some troubleshooting. I would recommend that you read this article, there are a few steps in here you have not mentioned trying.

    iPad 2 7.1.2
    iTunes 11.3 (54)
    iMac 27 in 10.9.4
Follow these steps to resolve your issue for iPads
Troubleshooting time is about 30 minutes - 1 hour
    Step 1
Unplug the usb 2.0 cord from the 27 in iMac and iPad 2 64 GB (or what ever version you have) Power down the iPad
    Step 2
Select your HD (Hard Drive) ( I did  this form my desk top)
Next select the applications folder, Next right click the iTunes icon and select show package contents, select Contents.
    1.     Next select info.plist, right click and select move to trash (A message should appear Finder wants to make changes. Type your password to allow this)(Enter your password) Select ok, (This moves the file to the trash).
    2.     Next select pkginfo, right click and select move to trash. (A message should appear Finder wants to make changes. Type your password to allow this)(Enter your password) Select ok, (This moves the file to the trash).
    3.     Next Select version.plist, right click and select move to trash (A message should appear Finder wants to make changes. Type your password to allow this)(Enter your password) Select ok, (This moves the file to the trash).

    5.     From the Finder, choose Go > Go to folder.
    6. Type the following and then press Return:
/var/db/lockdown
    7. Choose View > as Icons.
    8. The Finder window should display one or more files with long alphanumeric file names.
    9. In the Finder, choose Edit > Select all. Then, choose File > Move to Trash. Enter an administrator password if prompted.
Note: Do not delete the Lockdown folder itself.
Delete only the files contained inside the Lockdown folder.
    Step 3
Follow the below steps to troubleshoot the issue.
    1. In Finder, click the Go menu and then choose Go to Folder. Enter the following location into the text field that appears:
/System/Library/LaunchDaemons
    2. Click Go.
    3. Locate the file "com.apple.usbmuxd.plist~orig" and drag it to the Trash. (Do not move the similarly named "com.apple.usbmuxd.plist" file to the Trash.) If you DO NOT HAVE file "com.apple.usbmuxd.plist~orig" I DELETED THE FOLLOWING (com.apple.usb.plist)
    4. In the Finder, locate iTunes in the Applications folder and drag it to the Trash. (This will not remove any of your iTunes media or your iTunes library.) You may be presented with the following message “iTunes” can’t be modified or deleted because it’s required by OS X.) Do not worry click ok and proceed troubleshooting
    5. Choose Go > Go to Folder. Enter the following location into the text field that appears:
/System/Library/Extensions
    6. Click Go.
    7. Locate the file "AppleMobileDevice.kext" and drag it to the Trash.
    8. In Finder, click the Go menu and then choose Go to Folder. Enter the following location into the text field that appears:
/System/Library/PrivateFrameworks
    9. Click Go.
    10. Locate the folder "MobileDevice.framework" and drag it to the Trash.
    11. In Finder, click the Go menu and then choose Go to Folder. Enter the following location into the text field that appears:
/System/Library/LaunchDaemons
    12. Click Go.
    Step 4
Goto your hard drive in the finder
    1.     Goto Library
    2.     Goto Launch Daemons
    3.     Throw this in the trash: com.ghughes.wifisync.root.plist and anything with the words iTunes
    4.     Goto Library
    5.     Goto Application Support
    6.     Throw this in the trash: Wi-Fi Sync (it's an entire folder) and anything with iTunes
    Step 5
(Before restart book mark the link command and D). Restart the Mac.
Download iTunes and reinstall it. After the install, connect the 2.0 usb device to the iPad 2 while the unit is still powered off, next connect the 2.0 usb cord to iTunes, power the iPad on. iTunes will read the device and ask to trust device, select continue. Backup the iPad device to the 27 in iMac.
    Step 6
Please Rate if it helped you! After that have a cold hard drink and enjoy the day

  • Could not connect to " home shared iTunes library name "

I'm having an issue with iTunes/ Apple TV. Actually it has been ongoing. I have a particular iTunes library shared on a private subnet (together with the Apple TVs) from a Mac Mini. I can connect and play content any time with iTunes on another computer 100% reliably. But around 60% of the time when I try to connect to it from any of my four Apple TV (2's) an error comes up saying "Could not connect to "<home shared iTunes library name>" ", "Make sure the computer is on the same network as your Apple TV. the iTunes version is up to date and iTunes is running". The answer to those questions (as always with such messages is obviously 'yes':
Yes of course we are on the same network. If I wasn't, the library wouldn't have even shown up in the first place before selecting it
Yes iTunes as always is the latest version thanks to Mac Software Update
    Again 'dah'. See response #1
If I restart the offending iTunes library the error is resolved (although sometimes it does require reboot of the Apple TV) but could reappear as early as within the next 24 hours. This issue has been occuring for a very long time however appears to be increasing in frequency. It occured as well on the Apple TV (v1).
Anyone with clues on what's going on here?
    Thanks
    Greg

I agree that the first debug point should be the network. Though like Greg, I use a Mac Mini to serve up movies to a couple of Apple TVs. From the 'problem' Apple TV, I could see other iTunes movie libraries on other Mac(s), and those would work/play fine. It's only when I try to connect to the iTunes Library of the Mac Mini that I have this issue. It's almost like it's asleep, and doesn't respond. Though I can mount the library folder, and play movies from other Macs w/o a problem while the Apple TV still has the problem.
As Greg mentions, closing and re-opening iTunes on the Mini solves the issue (though only temporarily).
The only difference that I have (non-consistency) is that my Mac Mini is an older model, and cannot be upgraded to run Lion (10.7.x) like my other Macs. The Mini is running 10.6.8, and iTunes 10.6.1 (32-bit). My Macs are running 10.7.3 and the 64-bit version of iTunes 10.6.1.
Is it possible it could be a 10.6 vs. a 10.7 issue? Greg, which version of OS X are your Macs running?
