Apple TV crashing; Mac OSX 10.5.5 / iTunes 8 issue?

iTunes on computer says its syncing television episodes I've purchased ('transferring purchases'), but crashes every sync (even when I'm plugging in the phone!) I tried to simply cancel sync, because I could care less whether the tv shows are backed up on the iMac, but doesn't seem to work.

Dear Winston. I'm in the same situation. Problem is not iTunes I'm running 10.6.3 like Smuudge. Th problem is that I don't see the Apple TV ikon and therefore can't turn it on and get the streaming going.

i had a problem similar to yours and better yet, i have the fix for it. i downloaded maverick 4 months ago and was without itunes ever since. all itunes icon did was bounce. itunes would never open and whats more, is when i would try to update it, i would get a "thank you for downloading itunes!" page , but the download would never work. so i scoured the net for solves. nothing that worked. <4 months later> then last night i took a new approach. i decided even though maverick would not allow me to uninstall itunes, i would find a way to uninstall itunes. then i would reinstall back to 11.1.5 i was successful and heres what i did.
step one-
Back up your iTunes Library.itl file, found under ~/Music/iTunes
(even tho i didnt, i only had 3 artists in there at the time. and they didnt get erased but i advise you back up just in case.)
step two-
download itunes 10.7 from apple. i used this link Download it from Apple here
(i pulled the link from Aarons website (awesometast.com). you download 10.7 however you want but i used the link above and have had no issues).
although im not sure you need to do this step ( you may be able to download 11.1.5 itunes without 10.7, i did because i was following intructions from http://awesometoast.com/downgrading-to-itunes-10-7-from-itunes-11-on-osx/
step 3-
open Terminal
step 4-
enter in these 3 commands hitting return after each line. 1st line nothing seems to happen, 2nd line nothing seems to happen and 3rd line gives you a warning and requires password to continue. when i did it, my password didnt appear as i entered it and i hit return without looking, so i entered it in again, although im not sure i had to the 2nd time.
killall iTunes
killall "iTunes Helper"
sudo rm -rf /Applications/iTunes.app/
step 5-
drag off and dump the itunes icon (which now has the ? shadow in it) off your dock.
step 6-
install 10.7 itunes you downloaded earlier. (not sure if this part is neccesary. you may be able to just download 11.1.5 but i downloaded 10.7 because i was following Aarons steps.) itunes now works.
step 7-
go to apple and update to 11.1.5 itunes. install it. open it and you have itunes 11.1.5 in perfect working order. assuming you have a decent internet speed for the downloads, the whole process takes very little time.
with those steps above, you can solve itunes just bouncing and not launching issues and also the "thank you for downloading" and nothing downloads issue. enjoy. also i would like to give a shout out to http://awesometoast.com and thank Aaron for the knowledge that enabled me to get itunes back into my life.

mac osx 10.6.8 itunes launches automatically and will not respond to quit or force quit in the Activities Monitor. When I quit or go into the Activities monitor and try to quit, it goes off, briefly, then immediately relaunches. If i turn the computer off, and then on, iTunes launches automatically. ITunes 10.4. The only thing I remember doing different, lately, is I just updated a couple of days ago. Has anyone else had this issue? Thanks!

Creative Cloud Desktop App installer crash (Mac OSX)

I wanted to update my existing CC Desktop App, but that didn't work out, so I uninstalled it, and tried to reinstall. But that brought me into a whole other world of pain and tears.
Basically, when I finally worked out where I could download the .dmg (hint: if you try to download the desktop app installer through chrome on mac, you'll get the .exe), and I ran the installer, and just says this: "Downloading Creative Cloud Desktop App" and then promptly crashes, leaving no trails behind. I cleaned my mac from old logs and whatnot, did not work. I ran Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool, that just deleted all my existing CC programs so I can't even work with those anymore, but the cleaner provided nothing to let the Desktop app installer actually work.
I have a Mid 2012 Macbook Pro "13, Mac OSX 10.9.5, 2.5 GHz i5, 8GB RAM. I've had virtually no problems with Creative Cloud, except After Effects 2014, which could never complete an update.
I suspect I need some kind of "offline" installer for the Desktop app.

SkyOtic if you are being offered an exe by Chrome then I would recommend reviewing your web browser settings and add-ons. It appears that Chrome is currently identifying your computer as utilizing a Windows operating system.
Please download and install the Creative Cloud Desktop application from Creative Cloud Help | Creative Cloud for desktop. I would strongly you recommend the use of a different web browser unless you have corrected the behavior occurring within Chrome.

Mac OSX Lion Server Network User Login Issue

We have in the office a server running Mac OSX Lion, and several network users who've all been running happily for quite a will.
About a month ago I was added to the system, and initially we had a few issues relating to the home directory, but we changed 'something' and it all worked.
Fast forward to now, and we've added a new user - Hannah - to our system.
I've added her in the Workgroup Manager, and set her up everywhere I can find on the server. Her home directory creates on the server fine.
She appears in the Logon list on the client machines, and here's where the trouble starts...
Every time she tries to log on, it fails. The logon box just bounces or wobbles as though the password is incorrect. We've tried changing the password, to no avail. We've tried adding new test users - same problem.
We've tried sudo kinet on the Terminal as a local user, with variable results.
I'm at my wits end, and really hoping someone here can help offer some suggestions or advice we can work through to get to the bottom of this.

Your problems are likely occurring because you added her to the directory with Workgroup Manager.
You should really start avoiding WGM when at all possible as Apple is clearly moving away from it. Because of this, things don't always work as expected when using 'legacy' tools like WGM.
My guess as to what your problem is: When you create a new user in Server.app, two things happen for you automatically that WILL NOT HAPPEN if done from WGM.
First the user is added to the default "Workgroup" group.
More importantly (and the source of much confusion), the user is automatically added to SACLs.
Check the SACL for the user in Server.app, I bet you'll notice that they aren't a member of the File Sharing group like they should be. To solve this problem, you can either delete the user and recreate them in Server.app, or manually add them to the appropriate SACL.
I would opt for recreating them in Server.app if I were you, as I don't trust user accounts that originate in WGM on Lion Server.

I have tried several times to upgrade from FF 3.6.13 to the latest version, and am still being prompted to do so. Apparently, my iMac OSX version 10.5.8 doesn't have enough capacity for the upgrade. Lately, I have had a few crashes when trying to access my E-mail. Could the crashes be related to the failure to upgrade ? If I am unable to upgrade, I may have to switch to Safari which, I expect, would be more Mac friendly.

Apple TV and Mac OSX Server 10.6.3

I just purchased a mac mini with OSX server. I also just disconnected my apple tv from it's connection to my macbook so that I could reconnect with the Mac Mini. In the process, it deleted almost all my content from the apple tv because it was synced with the powerbook. When I attempted to re-synch it with the mac mini, I get an error message that reads - apple tv not responding, make sure firewall is off

I DO have the firewall software off?! How do I check port 3689? What am I doing wrong? Now my apple TV is almost empty and not usable until I fix this issue. Thanks for your help.

It is referencing the clamxav client. That application will not run on 10.6. This is not the same animal that is installed as part of OS X 10.6 server. The server install is chugging away without any errors on the Leopard and Snow Leopard servers I maintain.
Are you dealing with a Mac OS X mail server issue or is this on a client machine?

After Effects CS4 Crash (Mac OSX 10.5.5)

When i open AE CS4, it crashes when it reaches initializing Media Core.... BUT I restarted my computer and held shift, putting my mac into safe mode, i got it to start. BUT rebooted normally but it crashed where it normally does...Does any one have suggestions of what might be affecting this or anything i can do to fix this?

I got that once, but usually it just crashes and I get the screen Adobe After Effect...Has crashed unexpectedly or unresponsive. I have not installed any 3rd party pluggins.

NVDA error crashes Mac OSX 10.6.8. Hardware test says MBP is OK

Computer locks up about once a day, always when moving my cursor around on a FireFox page. Need to shut down with power key. The hardware test on the Applications disk says my machine is OK.

Firefox 4 crash mac osx when it exits

I just got a new Macbook Pro 17 inch. I used migrate to move Firefox and settings from 13 inch macbook to this one. I'm on latest version of Firefox (4). When I exit Firefox, its resets the resolution from the normal 1920 x 1200 to 976 x 600 (called 'supported resolution') and the on-screen pixels are giant. Its so bad, when logoff, the logon screen (shows the users on the computer) is still in this very low resolution. And then the next user to logon is stuck at this resolution too. I have have removed Firefox and reinstalled, no lock. This is a serious issue I cannot seem to resolve.

Firefox 4 requires at least OS X 10.5 and an Intel Mac.

Black Screen Mac OSX Yosemite (though not the common issue)

Hi all I've read a lot of posts already about the black screen that seems to be plaguing people lately, but my issue seems to be slightly different. I've tried reinstalling Spotify multiple times with no luck. I have noticed however that there is no Spotify cache and no folder in Application Support, and reinstalling does not bring these back. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm running OSX 10.10.4 if that at all helps. Thanks in advance!

Mac OSX Lion 10.7.3 finder issue

When I used file>place, the files are greyed out in my finder, until I select "enable all readable files" in the bottom of finder window. In PS5, this does not occur. How to I make enable the default setting in PS6?

TV programs purchased in iTunes Store on iPhone IOS7 won't all sync to Mac (OSX 10.8) via USB

We have bought some children TV programs from iTunes Store on my wife's iPhone 4 (IOS7) and when I tried to sync to her Mac (OSX 10.8) via iTunes (version 11.1.3) and USB, only the first part of the series would sync, the rest I woudl have to download again from iTunes Store.... I have already spent about 6 hours downloading the 5 movies to the iPhone on the 'nearly' broadband connection available where we live, which meant effectively no one else could do anything else that required internet connection for that period. I would not like to do this again for the same movies just to get them onto her Mac. Any ideas as to why only the first part of the series would sync and how I could sync/transfer the whole series via Itunes and USB, would be much appreciated.

You may also want to consider turning on your Automatic Downloads feature on your phone. Here is an article that explains a little more about this feature:
