Apple TV disconnects when streaming video from iMac.

I am using my Apple TV to stream video from my iMac to my TV using AirPlay display.  Every 5 minutes or so, it disconnects.  The video freezes on the TV but will continue playing on the iMac.  Then after a few seconds it disconnects completely and the apple TV will return to the menu screen and I then have to reconnect.  I also have noticed that it only disconnects when streaming video.  I'm able to use the Airplay to display what's on my computer screen and it works fine without disconnecting. I have no issues with the connectivity of my internet, there is always a full signal. I've been searching for answers on this and have found similar issues have happened to other users but none of the suggestions have worked so far.
Very frustrated... please help!

  • Apple TV Won't Stream Video From IPad

    Hi,
I have some video's downloaded from the App Store on my iPad, the Apple TV will not play these. It will play the sound but no picture. The Apple TV wants to stream them from the cloud. I tried to turn off 'cloud streaming' on the Apple TV but this makes no difference. When I simply try to mirror it says the TV isn't authorised to play content.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks

I turned off my firewall, and it did solve the problem of getting the message in iTunes that I click "Ignore" on. But, it didn't solve the streaming problem with Apple TV. From Apple TV I go to my shared music on that iTunes (8.0.2), and the menu on the right comes up (Playlists, Artists, Albums, etc), but once I start clicking through it after about 5 seconds it just freezes up. Should I try a system restore on the Apple TV to go back to 2.2? It came with 2.2 and I ran the update to 2.3, so I'm guessing/hoping that a system restore would let me go back to 2.2. My hunch though is that it's a problem with iTunes 8.0.2 -- just a guess.

  • Easiest (and best) way to stream video from iMac to TV

    All,
Trying to look for the highest quality, easiest & least expensive ways to get HD video from my iMac to my TV.
I could run wire - but that's sloppy, and a pain in the butt. Probably least expensive though.
Could get a Mac mini - but that's expensive.
Looking into getting a USB device (they sell them on TigerDirect.com) that beams the signal to a receiver - but they seem to be Windows based.
I do have a PS3 & XBOX360, and I know there are some programs out there to do this, but I've never been satisfied with the quality - major stalling or streaming issues gumming up the entertainment.
Can you folks weigh in with your tips, tricks or suggestions?
    Thanks.

how about *powerline adapters* _*such as these*_ ?

how about an TV ? there should even be refurbished units available from your local Apple online store.

  • Does apple TV let you stream videos from safari using your iPad 2x?

I'm considering on buying an apple tv but if it only has those 10 apps it can stream from my Xbox is capable of doing so as well. If apple tv doesn't stream using safari how can I have that option available so I can watch online videos on the iPad 2x using safari Internet browser?

http://www.apple.com/appletv/what-is/  Provides a lot information about apple tv, review it.
Also if you're using airplay mirroring and choose the full screen option from a video player in safari it'll play full screen on your apple tv.

  • When streaming video from a web site my audio is attenuated differently with different users on the same computer.  withe either user, the sound is very muffled.  all the volumes are set to maximum.

How can I adjust the safari sound volume other than the usual settings in the system preferences?
I am using an apple mac air, updated with OS X Yosemite.   Looking at the same web site video from two different users accounts on the same computer,  the sound is drastically attenuated on one user account relative to the other.
Sound settings in system preferences are maxed out.

It seems that the difference between the sites that will open and the one that won't is the Default Authentication provider is set to NTLM on those that open, and Negotiate (Kerberos) on the one that won't. The Authentication Provider for the Default zone
is Claims Based Authentication on all the sites, just site B (which won't open) is set to Negotiate (Kerberos), the others are set to NTLM.
Short term: can I change the provider to NTLM without destroying the site?
Long term: point me in the direction for setting up Kerberos correctly on my server/farm, as from what I can tell Kerberos is the recommended path forward. I'll setup a non-production test site and get it figured out.
    Thanks much.

  • Unable to stream Videos from Mac and IPad 3 to TV

My Apple TV (1.Generation) is starting to work bad after an update.
I am no longer able to stream videos from IMac nor IPad 3 or IPhone 4.
Can anybody give me a help.
    Thanks.

Not sure if I'm missing something here. AirPlay is the newer audio video streaming technology Apple implemented into their devices. Airplay video from a computer requires a newer Mac running Mountian Lion and a 2G or higher ATV. Streaming video from iTunes to a 1G ATV still works, it is similar to AirPlay but is technically not the same thing.
Streaming video from an iPad or iPhone to an Apple TV is using AirPlay and also requires using a 2 or 3G ATV. These are hardware limitations no HDMI cable can fix.
If you can not stream video from iTunes by selecting it on your Apple TV you have a problem. If you are trying to send video to the ATV by selecting it on a device you need a new ATV and/or computer.

When I stream videos from my laptop onto my Apple TV via my iPad 2 using the Air Video app/server the video plays great however when I pause the video the Apple TV reverts back to the home screen within a few seconds and then when I want to restart watching the video I have to re-buffer the video. Is there any way I can stop the Apple TV from reverting back to the home screen when I pause the video I’m watching?

  • Invalid Resource when accessing streaming video from PC

When I File > SHARE > HTTP Streaming Video, FCP creates a number of files & folders to place on my Web site.  When I go to access the streaming video from my MAC, it works.  However, when I attempt to access it from a PC, I get the message "Invalid Resource".  What am I missing or doing wrong?

I too am having serious problems with streaming from Apple TV2 to a newer quad core iMac running the most current version of Lion.  I am using Time Capsule as the wireless network device and have a high-speed DSL modem with 12/mbs download.
I have my iMac directly connected to the Time Capsule with an ethernet cable, and an ethernet cable directly to the router (Actiontec Q1000).  With the Airport Utility on my iPhone, I can see the Time Capsule as well as the wireless devices connecting to it, including the Apple TV 2. BTW, I can't even see my wireless devices with the new Airport Utility, need to use 5.6 to even see the devices.
The connection is listed as EXCELLENT, and when you check the speed of the connection, initially the Apple TV 2 shows a 65/mbs connection, but the minute you try to connect to Home Sharing, it drops to 1 mbs. So I don't think interference is an issue at all as no other device that connects wirelessly to my network has any problems. Very frustrating.  Went into Apple and they replaced the original Apple TV with a new one, same problem. I think the issue is somewhere between the Time Capsule and Apple TV2.  When I brought the new one home last week, it worked GREAT for like one day, then whenever you try to connect to your home library, it never loads, and with the 1 mbs speed, I can see why it's taking forever.  Anyone willing to help would be much appreciated.

  • Streaming video from mac to mac and from mac to Apple tv

I just purchased a iMac i7 with Snow Leaopard. Until now I were able to stream video from my MAC to Apple TV and to my other MAC wirelessly.
From my new iMac I cannot stream. Not to Apple TV (via iTunes) or from MAC to MAC.
A bit annoying when it worked fine before I got new hardware and soft ware.
Network is through a Timecapsule. I can still stream video (720p) from my Powerbook to my Macbook Pro (Leopard).
This be a iTunes 9.1 issue also.
Anyone else had this kind of problems.

Offcourse. I have done all the obvious. I am not stupid.
Some people forget that AppleTVs do not appear automatically in new iTunes libraries, especially if they originally configured it once a long time ago for another library.

  • Streaming video from macbook pro to apple tv

Hello, I understand that you can use airdisplay to stream the whole desktop view to the apple tv. However, I've found that its extremely laggy when I play videos that way. When I do, the video and sound is always off by a second. When I stream using my ipad or iphone to play videos that never happens and runs perfectly. Is there a way to just stream videos from sites like youtube for the mac like the iphone and ipad?

Yes, forget streaming that way, .....the ANSWER youre looking for is the APP BEAMER
you cannot stream youtube, rather ON COMPUTER video and movie files.
    free trial to test it
    http://beamer-app.com/
for streaming elsewise, use VLC STREAMER
One of the most handy APPS for entertainment ever made.

  • Hello. I've Apple TV 3rd gen and MacBook Pro 2013 all with latest updates. AirPlay works fine till I don't start streaming videos from YouTube. After that AirPlay icon from MacBook menu bar simply disappears. Could some help. I'm using 2 Mbps Internet

Hello. I've Apple TV 3rd gen and MacBook Pro 2013 all with latest updates. AirPlay works fine till I don't start streaming videos from YouTube. After that AirPlay icon from MacBook menu bar simply disappears. Could some help. I'm using 2 Mbps internet connection.

Same issue here- I can airplay my amazon prime library just fine from my iphone 5 but on my macbook- (mavericks, 15 inch 2013 retina with quad core i7, nvidia 650 M and SSD) it just sputters and lags.
I have noticed web video is considerably worse than local content, giving me pauses of up to 2 or 3 seconds in which video stops but audio continues in the amazon player. Youku video, however, seems relatively stable. Our subscription speed is 25 mbps, so that should be plenty to stream SD video from Amazon and doesn't account for why it would be nice and stable from the iphone, but not the mbp.
Playing light, locally hosted steam sidescrollers  like Limbo is better but gives periodic drops in framerate on the Tv. when mirroring the framerate remains steady on the MBP screen.
Games airplayed from my iphone seem relatively stable, though with a noticably lower framerate on the TV than on the phone.
It seems these issues have abated considerably since yesterday's Apple TV update, but are still curious nonetheless and I'm not sure that the update yesterday was specifically meant to address those issues or if I'm just getting a time with less network interference now.
Comcast recently installed a new router/modem/phone combo, replacing our old separate modem and router setup. I'm going to test if putting the network on a different channel helps.

  • How can I stream video from my laptop to apple tv while doing a different task on my laptop?

How can I stream video from my laptop to apple tv while doing a different task on my laptop?  I want to be able to stream a video to my tv while browsing the internet or working on writing on my laptop. Thanks

You would have to use airplay within iTunes then, unless you want to use 3rd party software (ie Beamer)

  • Is there a way I can stream video from my 2012 AirMac to the Apple TV using airplay and at the same time stream the audio to an air speaker?

Is there a way stream video from a 2012 MacBook Air to a TV using Apple TV and at the same time steam the audio to an air speaker. Also the same question but using an ipad

You can try one thing. Follow these steps:
    1. On your Mac, turn on AirPlay Mirroring and connect it to the Apple TV, so audio and video will stream from the Apple TV.
    2. Turn off the sound of the TV where you have connected the Apple TV.
    3. Then, make sure that you have turned on the AirPlay speakers. Then, open System Preferences > Sound > Output, and choose the external speakers, so sound will stream from these external speakers.
    This should work correctly
