Apple TV displays a limited number of pictures in screen saver mode

Why does Apple TV screen saver function show only a fraction of the photos that I have selected for my screensaver? It shows about 15 of 526 photos. If I use the slide show function it shows all photos. If I switch the screen saver to another directory I have the same problem. I've seen other people complain about the issue but haven't seen a resolution.

After some further research ist seems as if tumblr ist bringing back 20 results by default. It is something limited by the rss software. Therefore not an issue for iPhoto.

When the Apple TV is turned back on it resumes playing once I manual select it for output from the IPAD. All device are on current releases of software. I have no Video hooked up to the Apple TV. How do I correct this?

Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.

i am using my pictures to create a screen saver. is there a way to adjust the timing between when each photo appears to make it shorter or longer?

Let me rephrase the question. Imagine you take the ATV2 out of the box, plug it to the power and the TV (no network) and wait - screen saver kicks in. It displays photos someone at Apple decided to include in the software loaded into the ATV2 unit.
I would like to know if there is a way to replace those pictures with images I selected.
So again, I am not asking how to display pictures stored on external repository. I am asking if it is possible to REPLACE existing, standard, Apple-chosen pictures that come with ATV2 software, with different ones.

When I try to add a pictures folder to my screen saver, it just kicks back to the Apple folder. Thoghts?

Our home computers display photo's from our lives and often one comes up that we want to go back to. Years ago on Windows this was easy and I am hoping there's a way to do it now with Snow Leopard.

HT204379 Why we can't use iPhoto pictures on screen saver anymore?

After years of using our personal pictures from iPhoto for our screen saver, our Mac won't let us choose iPhoto Library as our source for the screen saver anymore. Does anyone know why this happened? When I choose a folder, the iPhoto Library is dim and won't allow it as a selection. Photo Booth is an option, but not iPhoto Library. This has been our screen saver for years. I didn't change it and don't know why the change occurred. And now I can't figure out how to change it back.

Are you still able to connect to your iTunes library under the computers feature. Have you checked your photo sharing options from the advanced menu in iTunes on your computer.

How do i remove the airplay option from the screen saver on my apple tv. Its blocking all my pictures

The Airplay Screen saver option telling me to choose a wi fi and choose this apple tv keeps poping up on my apple tv when it goes on screen saver mode. It blocks all of my photos showing on my screen saver. Can anyone help me to remove this

Welcome to the Apple community.
Assuming that both devices are connected to the same network and that airplay is not turned off in your Apple TV settings, then you should be able to see the airplay icon when playing content on your iPad, by tapping the screen to reveal the playback control bar.
If you do not see the airplay icon when you do this, you might try restarting the iPad, the Apple TV and your router.

Apple TV: Music Visualizer (Like iTunes) or Alternative Screen Saver?

Hello, I am wondering if there is any way to get a "Visualizer" for my Apple TV, like iTunes has that is basically a screen saver that wavers with the pitch and beat of the music. Similar to those on Windows Media Player, xBox 360, PS3, etc... Or is there at least a way to get/buy an alternative "Screen Saver" besides the floating pictures?
If not, that is a serious design flaw that someone should have thought about before release. I mean, come on, a unit that is designed to be hooked up to your TV and play music? You need to have something visual and floating pictures are not only boring but borderline annoying. I have to believe it is an easy fix with a software update; I mean, everyone else has managed to incorporate one into their products as I mentioned above and **** iTunes even has its own Visualizer, and in my humble opinion, rivals only windows media player in top quality. There has to be a way to at least stream it like AirTunes streams the music iTunes is playing to the Apple TV that plays it out the speakers it is hooked up to; with G protocol you could easily add a video stream that would stream the iTunes visualizer to the Apple TV and display it on the TV.
Anyway, just thoughts, if anyone cares, not really upset with the product, in fact, I love it so much I'm thinking of proposing to it soon (it has no idea). I just REALLY wish I could throw up a sick Visualizer on my Samsung 60" 240hz LED TV to go along with my music...SOS! Help!

no - the "visualiser" is not an option on the appletv.
you only have the screensaver options.

T440s display won't wake up from password-protected sleep mode

The display on my new T440s stays off and cannot be recovered, when it is in password-protected sleep mode (or when it has gone to sleep from password-protected screen saver mode). The only way to recover is to press the power button to shut down completely, and reboot the computer.
When I remove the password protection from sleep mode, the display turns on and off as expected during sleep/wake cycles.
Have any of you experienced this? Is there a fix? I do want to use password protection in sleep mode for security.

I posted this yesterday on another Mac site and thought I'd post it here, too, since my experience is similar to rmckillen's, and BobThe Developer has an explanation for it (thanks!). I've had my 15" MacBook Pro for almost 3 months, and it's been working fine until now. Tonight after it went to sleep while open, I tried to wake it up and the screen stayed dark, though you could faintly see what was on it. When I tried pressing the power button, I could see through the darkness that I was getting the usual message asking if I wanted to shut down. I waited for the approximately 2 minutes for that to happen, and then the machine appeared to shut down for a few seconds--only then the dark screen with faintly visible image of what was really there appeared again. I tried closing the machine and opening it again, but that didn't help, nor did clicking the mouse. The only thing that worked was forcing a quit by pressing command-control-power all at once. The machine shut down, and then when I turned it on again, everything was back to normal. My question now is, should I bring my machine in to Apple about this--will it be something they can fix, or is it just a problem I'll have to live with (or will the next operating system address it?)? W520 - now changes to "projector only" whenever display turns off in power save mode

I have my W520 in a dock with an external monitor. The display is configured to Extend - the external monitor is primary, and the desktop extends onto the W520 screen. I don't have a screen saver. I turn off the display after 30 minutes of inactivity. Until recently both the laptop and monitor screens would turn off after 30 minutes, and then both resume when I moved the mouse or pressed a key.
Recently, the system has started changing to "Projector Only" when the display turns off. After resuming from power save mode, only the external monitor activates, and the W520 screen is disabled. I have to use Fn-F6 to switch back to "Extend" to re-activate the laptop screen.
I have rebooted and re-saved the power plan.
Why has this happened, and how do I fix it?

1) What is your machine type and model? You can find this information on the bottom of your machine. It should be in format XXXX-XXX.
2) What is your operating system?
3) Does this issue occur is the computer is not in the docking station? (Please try if you haven't already).

Apple TV unresponsive after 15 minutes in screen saver

Hi,
I have a 1 week old Apple TV. It works great until you leave the room. Then, after the screen saver kicks in for about 10 minutes, it will no longer accept commands from the remote.
The remote is unpaired, and I also tried my macbook remote on it, and that doesn't work either.
I have swapped batteries in the remotes, this didn't work.
The one intersesting thing is although I cannot get out of screen saver mode with the remote, I can hit Menu and - and reboot the apple TV.
The other issue is upon reset, it hangs on the Apple screen. The only way to succesfully reset is to unplug and leave it for at least 15 minutes.
What I have not yet tried:
1) Disabling the screen saver completely
2) factory reset

It was bought online through a third party retailer, so its not exactly as convenient as driving to the store. I'd rather exhaust my options before having to send it back.

Locating pictures used in Screen Saver (Previously loaded)

I've noticed that the options for screen savers such as Beach, Cosmos, and Abstract are quite interesting and was wondering if it's possible to locate the folder where these images are stored. I would like to use them as a background if it's even possible to discover their location. Thanks.

this is an easy one
Just go to "/System/Library/ScreenSavers/" and right click on one of the
screen savers. You will see a contextual menu, showing an entry "Show contents".
Select that and then in the open package go to "/Contents/Resources/" and you have
access to all the pictures the screen saver uses.
