Apple TV Dissapears

Hi there... hope anyone can help me out.
Got myself a AppleTV but somehow it allways dissapears in my ITunes. Meaning that I can configure it, but as soon the sync starts, the Device dissapears.
I tried all mentioned in the AppleFactbook.. but non of theese suggestions work. As soon I reload the Wireless... everything works for a few seconds. It also works unsing the RJ45.
Biggest problem is, that my Apple Partner store is not taking back this peace of junk, since it works in theire store. At least with theire Wirelessrouter.
I'm using a Zyxel.. hope anyone can help out....
Thx

Just got Apple TV this 2 days ago and this syncing and dissapearing has been driving me NUTS!
My Apple TV only ever appeared in Itunes for about a minute then dissapeared. If I tried to sync one Albumn it dissapeared after 3 or 4 tracks - only a complete G5 rebbot ever got it back again. The good news is I HAVE FOUND THE CURE !!!!!!!!!
All I did in the end was change my Netgear Router channel number (it was 11 and its now 3)
My Apple TV has now been Sync'd and showing in Itunes for an hour - this was previously impossible. So to summarise , all these problems are caused by flaky wireless signal being too sensitive to my neighbours Broadband and maybe even my DEC telephone and Microwave etc etc etc.
Please let me know if anyone else finds the same.
Good Luck !!

  • Apple Tv dissapeared off Itunes

I couldn't sync my apple tv due to it dissapeared off Itunes. I tried to factory reset the apple tv thinking this may fix the problem but it has made it worse for now I have no music on the atv. I also tired to reinstall an eailer verrsion of Itunes but it said it was unconpadable with my music libary due to it had been changed by and updated version....
any help would be much appreshated

Just wanted to chime in here: I have followed every instruction and advice in the troubleshooting documents and iTunes still does not see my Apple TV. Yes, my Apple TV has uninterrupted internet, can be pinged and seen on the network, but iTunes simply doesn't recognize it. I've eliminated router issues as well, returned to Factory Settings and re-updated, and reinstalled iTunes on my iMac.
Plainly put, something is broken with the Apple TV software or iTunes, or there is a problem or troubleshooting issue with OSX that they have not put into the Troubleshooting document and should.
I don't think we can yell loudly enough about this issue. Sure, if you've got a funky router setup at home or odd Firewall stuff running on your PC then that's one thing. But I have a new iMac with nothing fishy going on, and iTunes has not been able to see my Apple TV in months.
I've been collecting other suggestions from around the internet and have a handful, so I'll post them here:
    1. Disable "AirTunes" in the AppleTV settings
    2. Make sure no static addresses are assigned by router
    3. Disable all WiFi devices. The iPhone. Laptops. Etc. Make sure your other laptops do NOT look for AppleTVs.
    4. Check Firewall settings on the iMac? Are there any?
    5. Change the "channel" my router is using? To 12?
    6. Testimony: "My firewall, netbarrier x4, stopped the connection as a "connection flood" threat. Just switching the firewall to "no restriction" won't be enough. Go into your anti-vandal, where ever it may be in you security set-up, and allow the connection/take it off the stop list, and you should be good to go."
    7. Testimony: "I found out that one reason was a setting called Block wireless bridging I (stupidly) activated the other day on my router/access point without precisely knowing what it does I thought it would do something else but according to the manual, this is what it does: it isolates all wireless clients on your network from each other. Wired clients will be seen and internet access works from Wi-Fi clients but you’re unable to see other wireless network clients on the same local network."
    8. Turn Bonjour off and on?
    9. Run the Conformance Test available here: http://developer.apple.com/networking/bonjour/ConformanceTest-123.zip . Run it with "sudo ./BonjourConformanceTest -I en0 -L p -M hu" at a Terminal prompt. The conformance test jolts Bonjour somehow and apparently caused the AppleTV to appear again.
I'm going to try each of the above as soon as I have time, but I thought I'd share what I found. It would be very interesting if this has something to do with a confusion in Bonjour or a conflict with multiple devices or iTunes running on multiple computers...

  • Found the fix for Apple TV dissapearing from iTunes 10

After hours of searching the boards and trying things on my own (router, firewall, etc.), I stumbled across the solution that fixed my problem of my Applet TV 1st Gen not showing up in iTunes anymore after a couple of years of working flawlessly.
Hopefully this will help someone else out as well.
I uninstalled the current version of Bonjour, and installed a previous version.
    Apple TV pops up immediately.
Not sure what changed, but something is different in the newer version of Bonjour that does not play nicely with Win 7 and iTunes 10.
Hope this helps and saves someone some of the time I spent trying to get mine back.

Sounds good, can you post a link to the old version of Bonjour that still works? Was it installed on Win 7 32-bit or 64-bit?

  • Restoring iPads through Apple Configurator

We are a library that has 8 iPads that we are trying to set up through Apple Configurator. Everything has been working well so far, but we've been having problems with the check in/out function. The iPad starts the restore process as it's supposed to, but it does not complete (on any of our iPads). The screen turns off and the spinner appears briefly, then the Apple logo appears on the screen. Up to this point things seem fine, but then the apple logo dissapears and it looks like the iPad has turned itself off. It does not turn on again, even after several minutes. I can turn it on manually at this point, and then the restore process will finish correctly. But there is no way to restore without having to turn the iPad back on manually in the middle of the process. Has anyone had this problem with Apple Configurator before? Is it just a bug in the most recent version (we didn't have this problem up until a few weeks ago).
Our iPads are running the latest version of iOS (6.0.1), and the Mac has the latest version of OS X (10.8.1). Apple Configurator is version 1.2.1. Thanks!

create and deploy a backup that doesnt have epub metadata in it.
if you have a restore image with the same UDID as the device and the one of its previous backups, the problem is you have itunes checked to sync books when you imported the backup into config'erater.
if you import a backup of a device with no .epub location data, then cant put them on there
you may also be able to go into itunes and delete the appdatastore content for ibooks, ensure the sync option for ibooks is unchecked, construct clean backup, import, deploy.

  • Syncing my Apple TV

    Hi;
I have had my 160GB Apple TV since this past Christmas, and have been loving it. Recently since I upgraded to firmware 2.01 I have had some serious syncing issues. When I load iTunes I see my Apple TV, then it starts to sync. About 5 minutes into the syncing process the Apple TV dissapears from iTunes. I can see from my menu meter that I am still transferring data to it, but I cannot see it in iTunes. The major problem with this is that when the Apple TV is done syncing I cannot see it in iTunes until I restart the program. Syncing the Apple TV has been a major issue for me ever since I got it, and now this is making it even more of a problem. Can anyone offer a solution, or some insight as to what is going on?
    Thanks

Just curious. Have you made sure you are running the latest iTunes (new version came out recently and also one not too long earlier). Also do you have the latest update for the AppleTV. Best shot is to make sure you are up to date with everything first. I know one of the iTunes update as of late (well 2 or 3 ago) was specifically aimed at working better with the AppleTV.

  • Apple TV connection problem + Time Capsule

Hi there, I seriously need your help because I don't know what else I can do.
Here's the situation: if I want to sync a single movie (let's say about 1.3 gig in size) to my Apple TV (connected via wireless to my Time Capsule) from my iMac (also connected via Airport), everything goes wrong. I just click on sync in iTunes, see the progress bar slowly going up and as soon as it reach 40%, it just stops sending the data. I check iStat in dashboard just to realize my computer is neither sending nor receiving any data! I then open Safari and not a single web page will load. I then switch back to iTunes, click on the little X to cancel the sync and after 30 seconds, the Apple TV dissapears from the list and the only way I get back my internet is by going to my Time Capsule, pull the plug and reset it. I then get back my internet but I'm still not able to sync my movie to my Apple TV.
I tried reseting my computer, reseting the Apple TV, repair permission, trash itunes preferences nothing seems to be working. I don't know what else to do.
    Thank you for your help!

I wish I had a solutipn for you... I am having a similar problem which started in the last two days with my playstation not finding the network from the TC, although the AT! and everything else in the house can find it just fine. The connection in the AT1 is spotty. I wonder if setting the TC to "internet robustness" will help or hurt? I just tried that and will let you know if it helps. Also, often, the syncing stops and does not complete between our iMac (i7 processor) and our AT1.

  • Word and other apps just dissapeared

First all of my apple applications dissapeared ie iphoto imovie etc, and now all of my microsoft progams dont work.
What can I do to get it all back?
    Thanks!

Please be more descriptive about your problem. Are you saying the apple applications are no longer in your Applications folder? Microsoft issues should be dealt with at the Microsoft web site support. Be a bit more lucid about your MBP and what OS it is running. What have you tried? What maintenance do you do on a regular basis?

  • The Apple Sign.

my ipod is stuck on the apple sign. It wont respond to anything even being connected to my computer for half a day. If I try to reset it the apple logo dissapears then returns.
Its done nothing for the past day and a half.
I'll ry to drain the battery to see if that works, but that could take days.
I bought this close to release, so I think I hould return it and replace it with a new one. Will it still cost me S&H even though there's a ipod store right by my house?

    The thing is...
That I can't use my ipod. Even when not connected the ipod sign shows, it was in disk mode previously, I had just saved a .txt file into Notes to check it out and reread for mistakes (it was an English paper). I came home today to a blank screen. I touched the ipod and the apple sign came back. The computer wont even sense the ipod and vica versa. Its come to be a inresponsive piece of junk. I can't do anything to it. My computer does not sense it, I think I'll ask for a replacement this weekend.

  • Ipod Mini stuck on Apple Icon Screen

I was using my ipod mini, and had it connected to my computer, and the computer crashed. Now the screen perpetually has the Apple Icon on it. Permanently. I've tried resetting the mini (by holding the menu and select keys, and also by holding the menu and play keys), and what happens is the Apple Icon dissapears for a few moments, then returns. Sometimes I'll get the low battery icon too. Then it's back to the apple icon on screen. Basically, I'm not able to reset the little bugger. I'm scanning the boards and have read the FAQs, and hope I'm not out of luck. Please help.

    Hello,
Have you tried restoring your iPod?
    Restore your iPod
Try running down your iPod's battery (by leaving it on) then turning it off, and plugging it into the power source for at least 24 hours. See what happens.
Can your iPod go into disk mode? Try putting it into disk mode, then connecting it to your computer again.

  • Comp. won't recognize ipod touch 4g after ios4.3 update

So i updated my ipod 4g to ios4.3 and it downloaded and installed fine but then my computer didn't recognize my ipod. A window came up saying that "itunes has detected an ipod in recovery. You must restore this ipod before it can be used with itunes." I then restored it but it didn't finish and the same window appeared. I tried restoring a second time but then an error appeared "Error (-1)"
I tried looking up what that error was but it is not in the support/help portion in the apple website. So now my ipod is just sitting here, fully plugged in with the connect to itunes screen.
I also updated to the latest version of itunes BEFORE I tried to update to ios4.3. I rechecked to make sure itunes updated but it stated that it did. Please help anyone!
Oh, I have a PC with Windows 7.

Have a similar problem. My computer is PC with 64 bit windows 7. Itunes is version 10.2.1.1. I use Microsoft Security Essentials for virus/firewall.
Anyways, I did the update this morning. When download finally finished, ITunes began updating my IPod touch & I got a single error (I didn't catch it, but may have been something like 1620 or 1602). I restarted my computer to try everything over again. I booted up and loaded Itunes, but it wasn't saying anything, and I also noticed my IPod wasn't showing up either. I checked, and it was still plugged in, but I did notice that it had a screen with a usb plug pointing to Itunes like I should plug in my Ipod, but it was plugged in.
I checked on internet a bit & didn't find much that was very helpful. I did find one thing on Apple support that sometimes driver gets messed up on update (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538), so I tried that. This entailed deleting the usb driver for apple mobile devices, and then scanningn for new devices, and restoring the apple mobile device driver from a directory under the C drive (c:/program files/common files/apple/mobile device support/drivers). Updating to this file gives a driver that calls itself "Apple Recover (iBoot) USB Driver" with a driver date of 2/11/2011. This has no effect, and I still have the same screen on my IPod and it doesn't show up in Itunes.
On internet I found that my IPod seems to be in a recovery mode, and I tried a couple of the listed methods to get out of the recover mode (these all failed for me, but maybe they'll help someone else). I held down both home & power buttons for 10 sec and then letting go of just the power button. Then you wait until after apple logo dissapears (about another 10 sec) and then you let go of the home button. This is supposed to start the recovery mode for your IPod, but for me I just get a blank screen. There is also a reverse method that does either a DFU or Recovery mode. For that method you just reverse the releasing of the Home and Power buttons, but that just got me back to the usb+itunes screen instead of to a blank screen.
While doing both of these things, I did notice that it would sometimes replace the Recovery Driver with a DFU driver, or sometimes you'd get 2 non-working Recovery drivers. None of these drivers had any effect on Itunes being able to see my IPod. The Apple Recovery (iBoot) USB Driver only comes up when you do the apple support option.
Hopefully this error is widespread enough that it will get apple's attention and a fix will come forth shortly. I'm at my wit's end trying to fix it.

  • No Entry Sign on booting

Ok so i have a old eMac, and its not booting.
Its just sits with the apple logo on start up, makes the chime but does not move.
I held the option key, and got the option to boot of the mac HD.
But as soon as i click on it, the apple logo dissapears, and then there is a no entry sign.
I have tried to rebuild this machine, and its starts to load off the disk, but then the no entry sign pops back.
Please can someone help, its driving me crazy

    Hi celeben,
I asked " Have you tried to repair the disk?" an you said you had, " I have tried both, but to no avail "
But by the sound of it maybe you haven't.
In Applications/Utilities open the Disk Utility. Selecting the hard drive, there will be displayed S.M.A.R.T. status for your drive. it should say verified.
From that same application, you can do Repair permissions and Verify disk.
If the disk needs repairing then these are the instructions.
The startup drive can only be repaired from another drive. Simply loading the install disk is not sufficient. You have to boot from the install disk.
To do this: Insert the Install Disk 1 into the drive and then select Restart, then hold down the C key until you hear the chime.
This will take you to the installation software, but you do not want to install.
Select your language, then go up to the top menu bar to First Aid or Disk Utilities, depending on the system and navigate to the Disk Utilities app.
Then you will be able to Repair Disk on the start up drive.
If it finds errors, repeat the process until it reports no errors.
    Then run Repair Permissions.
After these repairs, quit the application, and restart normally.

  • Spinning wheel on desktop after all applications have quit

Ok.  My macbook is a little old (2008 operating system ios 10.6.8). So i am not shy to the various issues it's been suffering through lately.  But this one is new.  When I go to my apple icon to force quit an application that is making my computer run a little slow.  It says that Finder is not responding. So I forcequit it and now the spinning wheel wont dissapear from my desktop.  Every other application works fine.  And when I'm on safari the cursor is normal.  But heres the kicker.  When I quit safari. My tool bar on the top including my apple icon dissapeared and the spinning wheel is still on the desktop.  Something isn't right about it  I think finder is on the fritz.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  Trying to save this old lady.. Other than that she's doing pretty great.  Thanks a bunch
