Apple TV doesn't see my network

I have a relatively new ATV - bought within the last 4 months or so. Initial set up without a hitch. Now, this morning, it disconnected from the network and I can't get it to reconnect. I've unplugged it, done a reset on my Airport Extreme base station, etc and it doesn't see my network. It sees a number of other networks in the vicinlty, but not mine. I've tried typing in the name of my network - nothing.
Anybody have a solution?
Thanks!

ok, never got the Apple TV to work wirelessly, but ended up moving an AP Express to the TV and plugging in the ATV to the e-net port of the express. not really the way I wanted it to work, but it does.

  • Hardware Diagnostics Test doesn't see my network

I have a mid-2010 Macbook Pro that I just purchased, refurbished.  I need to run a hardware diagnostics test on it as I am getting kernel panics after installing Adobe Creative Cloud.
I have confirmed that I have the ability to run this test.  I hit option D at startup as instructed but when I get to the screen to choose my network, Mac doesn't see it.  I even tried a wired ethernet connection and it's not seeing it.
I'm sitting in the same spot in the house as always and I can access wireless just fine when I start up normally.
    Can anyone help?  Thanks!

The AHT is almost completely useless, so you're not missing much. If you want to run it and you don't have the discs, you can order replacements from Apple customer service. You would do better to start a new thread describing the actual problem you have, rather than what you think is causing it or how you think it should be solved.

  • Apple TV doesn't see iphone add remote greyed out

    Hi There
Wife just got a new iphone, I have it synced/paired to her PC's itunes and also paired to my imac itunes which has our music collection (not syncing just have music set to manage manually). Have downloaded the remote app and it connects wonderfully to my itunes and hers but I cannot add remote on our apple tv the option is greyed out on apple tv.......I have checked the wifi network is the same on all, checked the fire wall settings are correct and pretty much everything else. On the apple tv screen it says to start by downloading the remote app which just in case I have done to my imac as well.....I am wondering if my issue is because the itunes library that is streamed to the apple tv is different to the one that the iphone is synced to (ie her PC)........one thing I have noticed is that apple tv doesn't appear on the devices list on her PC.......not sure why this isn't working but its driving me nuts have looked all through the discussions and can't find a solution

I'm not really sure what criteria is necessary for the remote option to show up on the tv, I'm surmising it's simply a fault (which I was hoping could be addressed by a restart). Another option would be a need for the tv to actually detect a wifi network before it enables this option, although mine works on an tv which is connected by ethernet and although that ethernet network is connected to a wifi network, I'm not sure the tv could know that.
The problems you now seem to be experiencing seem to be network related, and I wonder if you are now experiencing interference. You could try changing your wifi broadcast channel to see if that helps.

  • WES610N Doesn't See 5ghz Network

    Hello,
I have two WES610Ns running Firmware Version: 1.0.06 (latest) and they only see 2.4ghz networks. Performing a Wireless Network Site Survey or configuring the network manually doesn't see the 5ghz network. (Other devices are connecting to the router on 5ghz)
The router in question is an Asus RT-N56U running OpenWrt Barrier Breaker 14.07.
I have found a few posts with the same issues, but no solutions. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
    Thanks,
    John

Hi there, john_p_lynch! It's odd that you have experienced it with the two wireless bridges. Have you tried adjusting your router's wireless channel? I would suggest that you try reflashing the firmware of the wireless brigdes. After that, do a factory reset and reconfigure it. This is to make sure that it doesn't have a corrupted firmware.
It would also help connecting it with another dual band wireless router for further isolation.

  • Macbook doesn't see my network connection

My Macbook Pro (bought July 2012) doesn't see my wifi network at home but see others available. When I join other networks in different country (I travel a lot) and come home I can see it but when the mac goes to sleep I cannot connect again. Tried to find the help online, nobody seems to have the same issue. PC sees the network just fine.
    Any help is appreciated.

  • Apple TV suddenly not seeing my network

    Hi,
I received Apple TV as a gift about four weeks ago. So far, it's worked great. Tonight I turned on the TV, fired up ATV, but it can't see my network! Not only that, it can't see any of the other networks on my building. I'm pretty sure my network is not the issue, as my iMac, my MacBook, and my iPhone are all surfing my wifi network (can you tell I'm a loyal Apple customer yet? So please, Apple tech guys, solve my issue!).
If it's not my network, it must be the ATV, no? Not only can it not see my network, but as I said above, it can't see any networks (I live in an apartment building, so there's always about a dozen networks visible - manhattan, Oy vey!)
So what's the deal? I just read another thread where a bunch of people are complaining about their erratic ATVs. I sure hope Apple didn't put out a not-ready-for-primetime product here. That would be incredibly cruel, as I've been enjoying the **** out of it, and it'd be a shame for my new toy to be taken away so suddenly.
    Any ideas?

Same problem here. My Apple TV is only a week old. It was working fine when I left for work last night, but when I came home this morning, no picture. The light was on, I could hear the sound it makes when you moving through the menu, but that was it. I rebooted it by unplugging it and plugging it back in and the picture came back fine, but the WIFI is dead. Every other Mac and iDevice in my house is able to see and connect to my Airport Extreme just fine, and they are also able to see several other local WIFI networks that the Apple TV also used to be able to see. Now the Apple TV is blind to all WIFI. I tried a manual entering the network name, still nothing. I also tried rebooting the Airport Extreme. It works fine connected via ethernet, but it's not practical for me to have an ethernet cable stung across the living room, so I guess I'll be calling Apple this morning to sort it out.

  • Blinking Amber Light, Apple Utilities doesn't see AEBS - after working fine

After 1.5 years of successfully using my AEBS, last night I suddenly got the blinking amber light. Further Apple Utilities doesn't detect it either. I had not made any changes to the config and the DSL modem seems to be just fine - I can hardwire connect to the internet. I've turned off both the DSL modem and AEBS and restarted them in sequence (modem first then AEBS) and nothing. My next step will be to reset the AEBS unless someone has other suggestions.
    Any ideas...

    Aha!!! Mystery solved and fixed.
The new baby monitor introduced into the room is the culprit. Wouldn't have thought that the interference would have been so strong as to completely haywire the AEBS but that is the case indeed. Luckily we only need the baby monitor at night when we're not online anyway.

  • Apple TV doesn't see new streamed content

I've always had issues with getting the Apple TV to see new content that I've added to iTunes. I have a large library (much larger than the 160 GB option) so I have the Apple TV linked to my Mac Mini. Until recently, every time I added a show or movie to iTunes, I'd have to relaunch iTunes in order for the item to show up on the Apple TV. Inconvenient, but do-able.
Starting at some point recently, the Apple TV will not see new content. I can reset iTunes, reset the computer, even reset the Apple TV, all to no avail. The only thing that has worked so far is to unlink the Mini and then re-link it. Everything then has to be reconnected, resynced, etc. Obviously this is not acceptable on a regular basis.
Does anyone know how to force the Apple TV to update the list of media?
    Thanks in advance.

forcing a Syncing works for me...
    from the menu *File > Sync +<your appleTV's name>+*
    OR
click on the appleTV under devices and press Sync button in the lower right hand corner of the iTunes window.
some things like metadata (movie ratings R, PG, G..) take time to be picked up by the appleTV but usually restarting the appleTV fixes this i.e. press and hold menu + down button until light blinks amber, then select language and resolution then select restart
if sync isn't doing it you might have some bigger problems and restoring from factory (can be found in the menu above where you pressed restart), then re-upgrade might get rid of any cruft that might have done something nasty to you appleTV.
    sync should do it though...

  • Apple TV doesn't see Extreme Dual Band 5Ghz network.

I have a new DualBand Extreme that I purchased mainly to give my AppleTV the full "whammy" of "N" bandwidth. The ATV is located in the bedroom of a very small house, but does not see the 5Ghz band, even though it connects easily with the 2.5Mhz band and shows a full strength connection. I am a bit confused because I thought the 5Mhz had the greater range. (When I move the ATV closer to to the DB Extreme, it does pick up the 5Mhz band...). FYI.. the 5GHZ has a separate name so I know if I am on the dedicated "N" network or not.
I realizethe ATV is making an "N" connection on the 2.5Ghz band, and in the absence of a/b/g devices on the network is probably doing as well as the 5Ghz band would, but... does anybody have any ideas on why I get the 2.5 but not the 5?

I`m no wlan expert but are sure you carn`t change the channel from what I`ve read the 5Ghz band is still split up into channels ranging from 7 to 196 depending on which country you live in:-

Maybe your router is just set to automaticly select one?

  • Apple TV Doesn't See Home Shared Library- All settings are correct. Help?

OK, so, I have two apple tv's, first gen. Both are completely updated. Netflix runs fine on both. Apple TV #1 see's the library on my wife's computer and the library on my computer. Apple TV #2 does not show up on either. However, sometimes it does- it's hit and miss.
I know it's not internet connectivity because I can browse iTunes and netflix on #2 without issue.
I've tried fixing the power settings on #2 to go off after the computer goes into sleep.
I've tried re-starting iTunes and, sometimes it shows up, sometimes it doesn't.
The router security has been removed to ensure easy connectivity.
Using "Remote" application on the iPad or iPhone or iPod, I can see the libraries I'm trying to connect to. Within the remote app is the only place that I can consistently see the #2 ATV.
I've tried turning off home sharing and turning back on for all computers-nothing. I've tried almost everything I could find on these forums but nothing is working to make this thing consistent. I've done the re-sets to manufacturer settings. The only thing I haven't tried is hard line witch is not possible due to set up but cannot be issue because I can access internet, itunes, and netflix with atv#2. Please help.

    I have a similar problem.
I have a 2nd generation apple TV and all worked well until I upgraded my imac to the 27inch Imac.
Since then I cannot open home share on the apple TV.
I can see the internet, movies & utube but no computer.
I've tried turning off firewalls ( Norton & Macs Firewalls) but no change.
I've even tried going from wifi to ethernet but still no response. Every time I enter my apple password & ID it says cannot find the server.
I have airplay on my ipad which works perfectly on the computer (not apple tv because I cannot turn on home share)
    Any suggestions
    thanks

  • If iPhone 6+ doesn't see WiFi network after iOS 8.3 upgrade, restart router and iPhone

PROBLEM: After upgrading my iPhone 6+ to iOS 8.3, the iPhone initially would not "see" the presence of my Apple Airport WiFi network.
This was bizarre because the credentials were saved on the iPhone, the WiFi network had been continuously up, my Mac Air remained continuously logged in to the Airport WiFi, and the iPhone was able to see other WiFi networks I didn't wish to connect to such as xfinity's and the neighbor's. Just not mine.
Manually entering the network name and password had no effect.
SOLUTION: Restart the Airport WiFi router. Then restart the iPhone 6+. Now the iPhone 6+ sees and connects to the WiFi network automatically as usual.
    Hope this helps some folks!

I Apologize for the long overdue reply. If your using a pc with your iPhone it is a common problem i noticed since i had iPhone 3GS, although it can occasionally happen with mac but you if backed the phone with the issue will get the same issue you had since it will be in the backup it backups software on phone as well you see.

  • Apple TV doesn't see Airport Extreme

    Hi
I have a Time Capsule as my base station and an Airport Extreme extending my network. The AE is right next to my Apple TV but the ATV does not see it. The ATV is connected to my network but it's reaching all the way back to my Time Capsule and thus the signal is somewhat weak. I've tested the AE with both of my laptops and they pick up the AE just fine. How can I get my ATV to connect to my network via the nearby AE and not the Time Capsule?
    Thanks.

    Hey, thanks for your replies!
Winston, yeah - it's the only router. The Apple TV and the xbox are both about a feet away from the Airport Extreme.
I have tried to enter the SSID manually but neither the xbox or the Apple TV can find it.
My gaming rig, a XP pro machine, can though as can my iphone. It's strange, the airport extreme is all default settings - no funny business there. I just wonder if maybe apple tv and the xbox wireless device is not compatible with the n spectrum of Airport Extreme.. but it should be compatible with both g and b since teh A Extreme supports those too.
I literally took the stuff out of their boxes and plugged in the cable modem ethernet cable into the airport extreme. I set up the SSID and psw on the airport extreme and then my PC and my iphone found the network but not the apple tv nor the xbox. AND they are about a feet from the airport extreme.
I'm using cables now.. but I can't accept that apple tv can't connect to airport extreme.

  • Apple Configurator doesn't see my device

Okay so when I plug my ipad into my imac I see via iTunes, which is all good and well. I just downloaded Apple Configurator this week and thought since we had two ipads at the school I should try this out in case we decide to go to a 1-to-1 environment with these. The first one I plugged in was straight out of the apple box brand new and it worked great. I played around with some settings and checked it out to a teacher. The second one had been in the hands of a teacher for a couple of weeks. I plugged it into the imac and bam it pops right up in iTunes. I click Apple Configurator and bam, it is lost in iTunes and nothing shows up in Apple Configurator! I did an Erase All Content and Settings, and still nothing. If I can keep Apple Configurator out of the picture the iMac will see it just fine, but as soon as I start AC it completely disappears, it doesnt' show up in Finder now!
If anybody has any fixes for this I would love to hear them.
    Thanks

ok, never got the Apple TV to work wirelessly, but ended up moving an AP Express to the TV and plugging in the ATV to the e-net port of the express. not really the way I wanted it to work, but it does.

  • I have apple tv home sharing on and the apple tv doesn't see my library

I have apple tv and I am connected to the network, and I have homesharing on both trhe computer and apple tv.
when I try to comnnect to the library it comes back to could not connect to my library

Try restarting your Apple TV, router and computer, if the problem persists check if you have any security software or settings that might be blocking any of the ports that should be open.

  • Apple Tv doesn't see my Ipad2.

The Apple TV sees my PC under compters but not my iPad2. My iPad has the Airplay icon, so the iPad sees the the Apple Tv.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
The iPad is not intended to appear under the list of computers on the Apple TV.
If you see the icon for AirPlay when playing compatible content and selecting it displays that content on your TV screen, then everything is working as it should.
