Apple tv download error 9006

My apple tv ( first generation) when downloading a movie I get an error 9006. What is wrong and how do I fix it?
Chuck

I think you've linked to the wrong thread.
Generally speaking its a network issue when downloads fail to start or complete, in many but not all cases a restart is enough to get things working again.

download error 9006.  internet intermittent. Tthis is normal for where we live, it just drops for a second and everytime it drops you have to start over with the download, is there a way to pickup where it dropped off?

traffic shaping prioritises "core" services, so web browsing and email are not affected.
P2P traffic and video sharing/downloading are the services that are often throttled (sometimes to the point where it's not usable).
all ISPs do this (even the ones that say they don't).
Sky's broadband services all do this expect for the 16MB Max LLU package which has no throttling or download limits (the 8MB services has shaping during peak times and a 40GB a month usage limit).
apple have no control over this and will give an error message that is relevant to the problem in question (ie problem downloading the file). it has no control over what throttling an ISP is doing and is unable to tell if throttling is the issue or not.

  • Download error 9006

    hi.
i was hoping someone might have some suggestions for a cure for this.
trying to rent a film, all fine and good. entered itunes account etc. but when i come to download i get an error. and when i goto the general/download menu. it repeatedly immediately comes up with "download error 9006".
i've tried switching it off and on again.
the wireless connection seems good. its managed to sync a few new photo's and home vid's from my pc just fine, and has performed a network connection test.
nothing seems to make any difference. and can't find anything sensible on the apple site.
its a 140gb model running software version 2.3.1 if this makes any difference.
    thanks
    alistair.

  • TS3694 Need help for ipad 3 download error 9006

Have downloaded Itunes app and iphone5 IOS 7 successfully.
Have installed IOS7 on Iphone 5 it works great.
After Iphone successful install I moved to my Ipad 3.
I get download error 9006 when connecting Ipad 3 in middle of the download.
    I have rebooted both Windows7 and Ipad3.
I have tried 3 times. I get the error.

Launch iTunes on your computer and see if you have available downloads. After you open iTunes, click on the apps tab on the left side under the Library heading. You will see a window with all of the apps that you have purchased. If there is a number next to the word apps - say the number 2 - that means you have available downloads. Look in the bottom right corner of the iTunes window and there should be a message sating 2 downloads available. Click on that to get to the next window and you may be able to finish downloading the stuck apps in there.
Do this first and then worry about deleting the apps from the iPad. I want you to see if you can finish downloading them in iTunes on your computer - then sync - then delete.
    This is step one.

  • Apple TV Download Error 8008

    Hi,
I just rented Transformers HD through Apple TV and it started downloading, but then it stopped and gave "Download Error 8008".
No matter how many times I click Check for Purchases it won't resume downloading.
And I know the problem has nothing to do with firewalls or internet connection because I can watch YouTube and browse the store.
Normally with iTunes you just delete the relative temporary download file and then check for purchases. But this is not possible on Apple TV.
Does anyone have any solution to this? or is it $4.99 gone.
    Thanks,
    H.A.

Hashman -- Sorry about your issue. I too have had the same error on downloading an HD movie via the AppleTV. I started the download then went to bed, woke up the next AM to find the download failed. Unfortunately no amount of "Checking for Downloads" in the Settings menu fixed it, in fact it's still there, not fully downloaded.
If you use your Mac to download and it fails, there is actually a process by which you can delete the partial file and restart the download, I have found this does work but ONLY on your Mac proper, not the AppleTV. I did follow the "Report a Problem" process and have yet to receive a credit, perhaps it's pending I simply don't know. Hopefully this will get fixed soon, otherwise I sympathize and wish you luck! Sorry.

  • Movie won't download, error 9006

Hi! I recently attempted to download 6 movies at one time. All were successful except for the last one, which will start to download and then say error 9006, check for purchases. I check for purchases and the same thing happens. This also happens when I click the resume download button. Can anyone help me to fix this problem, so that I can download the movie? Thanks!

everything and anything i tried wouldn't work until today when i wasn't even trying here's how you fix it.
With your internet connected go to tools
-go all the way down to internet options
-click on the security tab-go to custom level
there will be a list there enable anything that has to do with downloading
-right below the list it says reset custom settings
-in the drop down menu change it to Medium-low
then click reset. When you are done click on apply, this might take a miute. When it is done. Click Ok
If this doesn't work you can email me at [email protected]
    -Hope it helps

  • IPad/Apple TV  download error

In an attempt to rent a movie onto my iPad I got the download error that I did not have enough space.  I went to my Apple TV cause I figured I would just rent it there and it states that I have already rented this movie do I want to rent it again.  I believe it thinks I have rented it because it is sitting on the "trying to download queue" on my ipad.  I would think that i could go to my "Check for rentals" on the Apple TV, find it there, and resume the download but it's not there to do this.  I have logged out and back into my account on the Apple tv and restarted it but it still will not work.  Any clues how to get it onto my Apple TV or how to cancel the download on my iPad so it takes it off the list?  Thanks

Except when downloaded to iTunes, Apple's rentals cannot be played/moved on another device.  The rental will work on your iPad only.
iTunes Store: Movie rental frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Best option would be to contact  iTunes Store support and say you've had trouble downloading to iPad - hopefully they'll cancel the rental and give you the credit to enable rental on AppleTV.
I would also raise with them the stupidity of the service allowing you to rent a title when there is insufficient space on the iPad to download the movie in the first place!

  • Podcast download error=9006

    Hi there,
I'm trying to download podcast files which are suddenly all ending in an error message err=9006.
The files are about 230MB large and when the file reaches 200-210 MB the error occurs.
Downloading is done through an iMac. I checked Apple support but only found iOS suggestions.
Any ideas what could be the case??
    Cheers

Ok i think it is fixed!
i uninstalled my NOD32 virusscan. Windows Defender i disabled completly and windows firewall i set back to std settings.
This all together made it work! I don't know why cause i disabled virusscan and firewall but didn't work. When i put the firewall back on the problem was back. Then changed it to the std settings and now it can stay on!
I don't understand but it worked!

  • Apple TV download errors

I am consistently getting error 8003 when trying to rent movies. And on teh odd chance the movie will download it now takes 6 hours whereas it used to take a few minutes. Nothing that I know of has changed in my wifi or ethernet set up.. Apple is no HELP

    Thanks alex_h1.
However I had already tried all the troubleshooting steps defined in the link you gave except explicitly verifying DNS and network settings, which I have now done. Regrettably there is no noticeable improvement in Apple TV interminable download times, whilst itunes still works perfectly speedily downloading to our devices such as iMac, Macbook and iPad.
Any further thoughts or suggestions would be most gratefully received.
    BR, Tony

  • I am getting Error = 9006 when downloading some Podcasts

I am getting Error = 9006 when downloading a podcast, Derb Radio on TakiMag, but not other podcasts.  It started occurring recently, about 3 of the last 4. This occurs on both a Windows and Apple machine.  iTunes is updated.  It does not occur with other podcasts.  Then end result is that the podcast does not download.
I also get a "rebuffering stream" interruption during playback on the computer.

    Hello there, johnsilker.
The following Knowledge Base article references some great information in regard to the very error you're seeing:
Resolve iOS update and restore errors
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3694#9006
    Particularly:
    Check your security software
Related errors: 2, 4, 6, 9, 1000, 1611, 9006. Sometimes security software can prevent your device from communicating with either the Apple update server or with your device.
Check your security software and settings to make sure that they aren't preventing a connection to the Apple servers.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

No, once a user has been created, you can't run Setup Assistant  (without erasing and reinstalling).
What do you recommend for fixing this?
    Here's what's happened:
When you first start up a Mac and create the first user account, OSX assigns it UID (User ID) #501.  The next one gets #502, etc.  Those UIDs (not the user name) are what control permission to files.
You can see those numbers via System Prefs > Users & Groups;  click the padlock and enter your Admin password, then select an account and right-click it, and select Advanced Options.  Do not change anything on that window.
So . . . assume your old iMac had a user 501 with the data you want; it's identified that way on the backups.
When the Apple Store started up your new Mac, and created their account, it became #501.
When you used Migration Assistant to transfer the 501 account from the iMac's backups, OSX copied everything there "as is" except it had to change the 501 to 502.
The new 502 account has all the right permissions to things now in it's home folder, but the backups belong to user 501.
Have you added much to the Mac since you did the migration?  Have you done any new backups?  If not, while it's a bit of a hassle, one fix would be to create yet another user account temporarily.  Make it an Admin account.  Log on to it and delete all the other accounts.  Then migrate the accounts from your backups; this time there won't be a conflict, so OSX won't have to change the UUID(s).
But if you have done new backups, this won't work, since Migration Assistant automatically uses the most recent backup.  There's a way around that, but it's a bit (or more) tedious.
    Clear as mud?

  • Need Assistance with Download iOS 6 to an iPhone 4. Error 9006

I am experiencing difficulty with downloading ios 6 software onto my iPhone 4.  I keep getting error message that due to an unknown error "9006", the software was not downloaded to my iPhone.  I have tried downloading via iTunes (I have latest version 10.7) and via software update on the iPhone, but have been unsuccessful so far.  I have followed suggestions on the iPhone trouble shooting assistant.  Nothing has worked for me.  Any suggestions?

Errors related to third-party security software
    Error 2, 4 (or -4), 6, 40, 1000, 9006
Follow Troubleshooting security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
There may be third-party software that modifies your default packet size in Windows by inserting a TcpWindowSize entry into your registry. Your default packet size being set incorrectly can cause these errors. Contact the manufacturer of the software that installed the packet size modification for assistance or follow this article by Microsoft: How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
Verify that access to ports 80 and 443 are allowed on your network.
Verify that communication to albert.apple.com or photos.apple.com is not blocked by a firewall, or other Internet security setting.
Discard the .ipsw file, open iTunes and attempt to download the update again. See the steps underAdvanced Steps > Rename, move, or delete the iOS software file (.ipsw) below for file locations.
Restore your device while connected to a different network.
    Restore using a different computer.

  • Error 9006 downloading podcasts

After updating to 11.0.2 I get the error 9006 when trying to download podcasts. The files are only 80MB and have never had problems getting these files before. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Perhaps a little terse... Clicking through the link, and then the link to the 9006 error brings up this:
    Check your security software
Related errors: 2, 4, 6, 9, 1000, 1611, 9006. Sometimes security software can prevent your device from communicating with either the Apple update server or with your device.
Check your security software and settings to make sure that they aren't preventing a connection to the Apple servers.
Although in the context of podcasts it is the connection to the server hosting the podcast that matters.
Do you know which podcast is triggering this error?

i got my new iphone 4s , can not download the OS 5 it says error 9006 on my windows 7. also the phone does not show the capacity and serial number details on the itunes summery ?? please help

    Hi Kevin,
The iPhone 4S comes automatically loaded with iOS 5, and any updates after iOS 5.0 can be completed directly from on the phone in Settings > General > Software Update. If you are having trouble using iTunes to update software, I suggest you reset iTunes so that you can pair your phone to the computer again, because if you can't see the serial number and capacity, that generally means your phone isn't paired.  For any problems this doesn't fix, please contact Apple directly through their automated help line, 1(800)MYAPPLE.
