Apple TV Dvice and no Movies Tab

I have OS X 7.5.2 Apple TV 2.0 and iTunes 7.6. When i select the Apple TV under divices the Movie tab does not appear. Just Summary and photos appear. How do I correct this problem. Thank you for your help.

NO you don't have to change to Sync
I got mine working by doing the following:
1) remove your Apple TV from Itunes
2) do a factory reset on the Apple TV (this will remove the 2.0 update)
3) re update to 2.0
4) add your Apple TV back to Itunes , you can also do it after the factory reset before the 2.0 update
Your all set , you will now see the Movie tab and can move your rented movies over to Apple TV , on Apple TV a new menu will appear "Rented Movies"
So in summary I still 100% stream all my content and rentals show up fine. But please note that while you have Apple TV set to stream all your other TV and movie content , your rentals will be copied to the Apple TV hard drive

Apple TV - Purchasing and renting movies / videos in Austria

I want to buy an Apple TV in the next days, but today I saw, that it is not possible in my region (Austria) to rent or buy movies in iTunes yet. So I'm afraid it would make no sense to buy the Apple TV. Does anybody know, until when movies will be available in Austria's iTunes Store - i hope quite soon?!?

Unfortunately no-one here can answer that question, we are all users like yourself. Apple are unlikely to give out details of future events or improvements, so I'm afraid you can only wait and see.

Updated to Apple TV 7 and My Movies Icon is Gone

Just updated my Apple TV to 7.0 and I have no longer have the Movies Icon. I can't access any movies at all. Did Apple remove the ability to rent movies from Apple TV???

I had the same issue but went to settings-general (down at bottom) and restart and it came back! Good luck, I hope that helps.

Taken Apple TV away and all movies gone!

Taken my Apple TV on holiday and connected it like normal, loged onto network and sync onto friends computer using my i Tunes log in (my account) and all the movies were gone!
They were there when I first turned the TV on and in a blink of an eye gone when syncing!
Are they recoveralble? Or do I have to re-sync them when I get home from my own computer?

The ATV doesn't sync with your iTunes account, it syncs with the iTunes library on your computer. You will have to re-sync it with that computer to restore the files.

Apple TV renting and playing movies

Hi,
I bought an Apple TV a few days ago. Very easy to set up - I have no problem streaming all my movies and photos etc ( bit of a delay streaming HD movies)
My problem is direct rental - I didn't realise I could pick the option of renting standard movies - only HD was there so I tried a test case
It took my money fine but when I went to play the movie I kept getting the usual error message about trying again later.
Any ideas? It seems like a common problem - only soluition is to rent on imac and stream to Apple TV.
Someone mentioned about you need to have a pretty strong broadband - well mine is poor at 1mb but it doesn't stop the imac renting a movie- this must be some minimal requirment for streaming then?
Any ideas ?

Yes Apple recommend 6 Mbps for HD and 2.5 Mbps for SD. I've heard that very slow connections might not download at all. However sometimes that error message can be resolved by unplugging the Apple TV for a few moments and trying again, you might also try restarting the router.
If the problem persists are you able to download it to your mac/PC by checking for downloads from the iTunes menus.

I rented a movie from ITunes yesterday and now I cannot figure out how to watch it on Apple TV. I have done this before, and to watch it later on, I would go back under the "Movies" option, find the movie, and there would be a Play option available. We did the update to Apple TV yesterday. Now when I go back to the movie, I see the original options. Preview, Rent, Buy, etc. When I click on Rent again, it says the movie has already been rented but not downloaded. It instructs me to go under Settings/Downloads/Check Downloads, but there is nothing under Settings about Downloads. I found an option to Check for Rentals, but when I click on that option, it just keeps searching, with no results. Any ideas? This worked before the update, even though it took forever to download a movie....

I had the same issue with my apple tv 3rd generation. I rented Sinister and selected the "rent and watch now" option. Half way through the movie I accidentally pressed the menu button. When I looked for the rented movie on my apple tv I could not find it. Not even above the movie pannel where "purchased" and "top movies" comes up on the main menu. the apple tv suggests to go to settings>downloads but I don't have that option. I did go to settings> itunes store> check rentals but that didnt work either. It took too long to even check. Thank you because this SOLUTION worked great.
SOLUTION: How to reset apple tv 3 3rd generation to view rented movies:on the apple tv remote: press and hold "menu" to go to the main menu. Select SETTINGS> GENERAL >RESET >RESET ALL SETTINGS. After the apple tv resets, input all your information again and your rented movies should be visible when you cruise above the "movies" section. THANK YOU!!
Apple needs to solve this issue because honestly it took me 3 hours and a half to watch a movie that only lasted 2 BECAUSE I wast trying to solve the issue, reseting and all. blahh.

My iTunes Store on IPhone comes up with an error ([newNullResponse]). It is just on the music tab, tv shows and movies tab works fine. I have tried restarting phone, closing app, turning my account off and on. What is the problem I need help?!!!!

Try a different cable and a different charger. If neither fixes it you probably need a new battery. Apple will replace it for $80 in the US; I don't know what the charge is in other locations.

I have 38 movies showing in my library but only 23 are showing in the Movies tab on the Apple TV. After researching this a little, there are only 23 movies showing under Purchased in the Quicklinks of my i-Tunes account. The majority of my collection are digital copy downloads that came from DVD purchases. Some of the missing movies were added in the past couple of months, the rest are a year-or-so old. I have done some looking around at questions from others, but I have not found an answer that will fix my situation. How do I update my library to get ALL of my movies to reflect that they were "Purchased"(as it says they were in their Properties)?

Thank you for that post, and the advice. I just happen to be one of those who it does work for. I've been around long enough to know that CC isn't going to work for everyone(the large publishing/radio/web company I work for isn't upgrading to CC because of the costs involved). But it does for me as I potentially venture out into the full-time freelancing world and away from the more structured big office environment. I can't make decisions based on what is best for anyone else, or what will hurt or help Adobe. Just what affects me, and that's all.

HT1657 On my Movies tab I have a red Ticket on there and the movie I rented did not download for viewing...why????

On my "movies" tab a red ticket appears but the rented Download did not appear in my files. Why??? What does the dumb ticket mean and how can I down for load again without paying for it again??

Apple TV purchased movies tab missing

Hi guys,
I've purchased quite a few movies on apple tv, sometime between August 1st and 2nd, all movies disappeared and the purchased movies tab is now gone from the main menu. My purchased tv shows are still showing, but movies gone!
Anyone else have this issue???

When I am trying to update or download an app, another Apple ID appears in the Apple ID box, and I can't change it. The cursor is in the password box and I'm unable to move it back into the Apple ID box in order to change it.

When I try to update or download an app, very often another Apple ID shows up in the Apple ID box and the cursor is in the Password box and I can't move it back to the Apple ID box in order to put my ID in! Apple ID looks like an email address of a colleague in my school system, however, I don't know the person and that person has never logged into my computer.

I have a Apple Mac desktop and recently was unable to access any YouTube, movies, videos, etc because a "Blocked Plug-in" message comes up with no error message. It asks to upload Abode Reader, but upon completion of this the message is the same.

if you already downloaded the adobe flash player onto your mac and still getting that message that means you need to finish the installation of the flash player
you do this by opening a finder window and going to your downloads, find the flash player in here and then double click on it and follow the prompts to complete the installation.
after this is completed you will need to completely quit out of the web browser you're using then reopen it for the change to take affect and your issue should be resolved. if it's not you need to contact adobe their number is 800 642-3623.

Randomly Apple TV can't play Movies/Tv shows and music.

I've seen other people having problems with this issue but with all my searching, have not found an answer and thought I'd share my experience in case someone has a solution or suggestion.
Our cable modem service comes into an access pannel in the bedroom closet. It goes to the Linksys WRT54G router, then to a hub which sends out to all the rooms in our house. Our house is new and pre-wired for ethernet in each room. It comes in the office, goes into another hub and then to the Mac Mini I have and to a NAS Lacie storage drive where all my movies, music and photos are at. We stream everything and only synk photos on the Apple TV.
Over the last couple of days, the Apple TV can't play movies or music for some reason. The errors I get with Movies/TV is "The selected video cannot be played." The format was not recognized. With music the message is "Apple TV cannot play the current song." I know all the movies and music work because a day before I just played I AM LEGEND and it worked perfectly.
I've got a couple of theories and wanted to float them by everyone. I use a Harmony 880 remote and when I select Apple TV, it turns on the ATV and then sets the inputs on the other items. When I'm done and select watch TV, it turns ATV off. Should the ATV stay on all the time? Could this be causing the problem?
I've restarted the ATV, the Mac Mini, the hubs, the cable modem, the router. Nothing brings it back. But if it sits for a while, a couple hours or so, then it's back. However, it just stops playing for no reason and the next day it might not work again.
I'm running iTunes 7.6.2 and I checked the ATV and iTunes and both say they are up to date on their software.
I could really use some help here. The frustrating part is the kids want to watch one of their movies for the 700th time and it won't play many time.

The status light is gray, so it is not setting off any "alarms", everything else is working, but when I go to watch a movie, rented or owned, it times out and resets itself. I ran a diagnostic and it said everything was working properly, I reset to factory settings and still had the same problem, and even reset the Airport to make sure it was not just the connection.
At a complete loss as to any other ideas to try to get her up and running again. No way am I going anywhere near an Apple Store with all the iPad hype that is out right now!!!!!!

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

Why can't I play purchased movies on my Apple TV? And why does iTunes match not work on my Apple TV?

I have an Apple TV (early 2012) and bought some movies in the iTunes store. Now, Apple TV doesn't let me watch my purchased content. I very well can listen to music I have bought in the iTunes store and watch the purchased movies on my iphone 6 (running the latest iOS 8) and on my MacBook Air (running the latest version of Yosemite). I can also rent movies on Apple TV and watch them - no problem at all.
The other problem I have is that I activated iTunes Match on my Apple TV. But it doesn't work either. On my Mac and on my iphone - there's no problem. On Apple TV instead there is always appearing the message, that it will take a couple of minutes to setup iTunes Match on Apple TV. Well... that is too nice to be true! It takes hours and even after that it doesn't work at all.
I checked the forums and tried different things:
1. Updating my Apple TV's software to the latest release
2. Restoring all settings of my Apple TV and taking it offline (meaning: logging out of iTunes on Apple TV and taking it off power)
3. Restarting my modem and router after half a minute break and taking it off power.
4. Setting up Apple TV again and reconnecting it with iTunes and my WLAN-router.
5. I also wanted to Airplay the screen of my MAC or iphone to Apple TV -> doesn't work (even though I can watch the movies on this two devices without any problems). Other content can be airplayed to Apple TV without any problems as well.
-> Nothing seems to work!
When I tried to play the moves the following to messages appear:
1. iTunes is currently unavailable. Try again later. (But Apple TV recognizes how much of the movie has been watched already. It indicates that it is connecting and authorizing... and after that the message above appears). OR
2. Apple TV says that the movie will be ready to be watched in two hours from now... or that you have to chose a lower resolution, if you want to watch it any sooner.
Does anyone face the same difficulties? And of course: Does anyone know any cure and salvation for my Apple TV? ;-)

There's an issue currently that a lot of us are experiencing in that we all get the error message "iTunes is currently unavailable; please try later"
It's an issue with Apple and we're awaiting an update re this
I've posted a topic in regards to this after having a long conversation with Apple support this morning and will be receiving a call from their tech team tomorrow to run through it further
As it stands iTunes cannot be accessed via ATV's and nor can it be streamed via AirPlay from iTunes to the ATV
However I can access all films/iCloud content via my Mac Mini with no issues!
