Apple TV erases all content and requires a resync

I have 2 apple tv's (1x40GB, 1X160GB) - today, they both at different times, erased themselves completely and now want to re-sync 100s of GB's of data. ***?
The only thing I did differently today from other days was to make a movie in iMovie, then 'share' it with iTunes. After iMovie created the movie, it auto launched iTunes and added it to the library. It's after this sequence that the ATV erased itself. This only happened to the 40GB unit. The 160 was fine.
Then, a few hours later, I updated the movie in imovie and had to re-export it to itunes. This time, I noticed that my 160GB ATV was completely empty and iTunes wanted to re-sync all my movies and podcasts.
I did recently do the 2.4 update and the 7.4.2 firmware update on the Airport Extreme.
I'm also running 10.5.7 and iTunes 8.2 on a MacPro 8core.
Any ideas?

Same here, two weeks ago iTunes stopped seeing my ATV again (everything was still on the ATV and playing correctly, but I wanted to add some new personal movies) so I reset the ATV, ran the updates and uploaded 140GB music, photos, movies.
To date my ATV has lost my iTunes several times (usually after an updater) and I have reset/reuploaded a half dozed times to date.
After I the last round of updates, today I opened iTunes and alas it erased my ATV (now I'm reuploading 140gb of stuff)...
+++++
*I think Apple sets this up on purpose for some unknown reason (is my opinion)*...but this is the first time it actually erased the ATV.
I don't have any iTunes Store music/movie/content on my ATV other than some album art.
